Zidane’s Rebuilding Job
After a disappointing season that has seen Real Madrid finally dethroned in Europe and once again outdone by Barcelona in La Liga, FI Weekly looks at the rebuilding job Zidane has on his hands... “I have decided not to be Real Madrid coach next season. I know it’s a strange moment for everyone involved, but I think it’s the right decision. After three years a change is needed, something different, different ways of going about things.” These were the words of Zinedine Zidane back in May 2018, just five days after lifting an unprecedented third Champions League trophy in as many years as a coach. A seismic shock, and yet equally somewhat unsurprising given the strenuous demands placed upon being manager at arguably the world’s biggest club. Yet just 10 months later, the iconic Frenchman was back in the driving seat at the Bernabeu. There was

5 Questions With... Paul Corrie Paul is admin of the Football Index Trader Group on Facebook and has been trading on Football Index since January 2019. Best Buy: Virgil Van Dijk, who I paid £1.56 (post-split value) for. As a massive Liverpool fan he was always top of my list for buys and one of the first to enter into my portfolio. Recently, I I’ve sold all my holds with a profit of 80%; however, I will be getting back on him before the new season starts. Worst Buy: Denis Suarez. I paid 92p (post-split value) thinking he’d do well at Arsenal, yet he was awful and didn’t even get much game time. I kept him a couple of weeks before cutting my losses, though I recently looked at his price now and have seen him at 46p - so I think I got out at the right time! Biggest Regret: Personally I have no regrets. Overall I’ve done very well and my strategy is to get out at a certain percentage. Yes I could make more but I’m always happy that I took a profit and reinvested it. Nothing is stopping me jumping back on players in the future, though there are plenty of opportunities out there to make money on other players. Best Tip: I’m not generally a massive fan of tips as so much can be taken into consideration. However if pushed I like Kieran Tierney (of Celtic). He’s 21 years old and at a current price of 75p isn’t too expensive. I can see Brendan Rodgers bringing him to Leicester City next season; if not then there are certainly a few other clubs interested and have been for quite some time. Best Piece of Advice: For anyone new to the platform: take your time learning how it works, plan early on how you want to sell your players and don’t rush into anything. Don’t forget you’ve not lost anything until you cash out and you’re not in profit until you cash in.
Bad Week
Man Utd: Just 2 wins in 9 since Solskjaer’s permanent appointment means the Red Devils will be playing Europa League football next season. There’s no surprise at the continued drop in prices.
Good Week
Lionel Messi: His 600th goal for Barcelona all but confirms yet another Champions League final appearance for the little magician. Four successive days of Media Buzz is surely only the start over the next few weeks.
