Stella Marquez Araneta, chairperson of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc., said that winners of the annual contest will participate in Miss Grand International and Miss Globe pageants. Winners of Binibining Pilipinas take part in prestigious international contests namely Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Supranational and Miss Intercontinental. With the addition of the new international contests, then the Bb. Pilipiinas pageant will now have six title holders and two runners-up, making it the biggest local beauty contest in history in terms of number of titles. 2014 Bb. Pilipipinas Tourism Parul Shah will compete in the 2015 Miss Grand International contest in Thailand on Oct 26 while 2015 Bb. Plipinas Tourism Ann Colis will join Miss Globe in Canada on Oct. 11. Lutong Nanay: Healthy Kikiam By: Mrs. Z.

ikiam is a sausage-like dish which originated China and has long been one of the favorite “pica-pica” among Filipinos. It sometimes is added in other Filipino dishes like pancit or is sometimes used as substitute for meat in some veggy-based dishes. Making it is relatively easy as it is similar with lumpiang shanghai. INGREDIENTS: 1lb. Ground pork 2 medium sized onions, purple and white, finely chopped 2 tbsp. toasted dried baby shrimp (toast for 2 mins. in the toaster) 4 stalks celery, finely chopped 1tsp. Salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 tbsp. fish sauce (Squid Brand) 1 tbsp. soy sauce (Kimlan) 2 tbsp. egg white (free range, pure egg white) 1 packet dry bean curd wrapper HOW TO DO IT: • Salt the pork. In a bowl, mix well all ingredients except the bean curd wrapper. • Matapos haluin ang lahat ng sangkap. Ihanda na ang inyong bean curd wrapper. • Wet the bean curd wrapper, (comes

in irregular sheets) for easier handling. • Put in 3-4 tbsp. of the meat mixture on the wrapper and roll in 10 inches length. • Tuck in the ends and roll the bean curd. Bake for 40 mins. at 350 degrees. It is best to put finished kikiam on top of a cookie cooling tray elevated from the baking sheets. This will take out the excess fat and liquid off, keeping the kikiam crispy and low in fat. Turn to the other side after 25 mins.

nswering the Cry of the Poor (ANCOP) through Faith and Action, theÂ ANCOP WalkÂ is an annual global fundraising event that raises funds for the poor in the Philippines and other third world countries. The funds go toward providing shelter, housing and child education programs for the poor living in extreme poverty. The ANCOP Walk was held last August 24, 2015 at Wascana Park Blue Trail, Regina Saskatchewan. The walkers, in their bright green shirts, assembled in Wascana Park as a start of the program at 8am. The crowd is one of the series of ANCOP Walks being held in 15 locations across Canada this month of August.
