Alden Richards dismisses rivalry with Daniel Padilla over same endorsement As Posted on PEP.ph siyang bahagi na rin siya ng Bench family.

O

3n Easter Sunday, couple Drew Arellano and Iya Villania-Arellano announced that they finally have a bun in the oven. Earlier in February, both Kapuso stars had been vocal about their '#Project2016,' which is to have a baby within the year.

Iya Villania-Arellano is on to her second trimester As Posted on PEP.ph

Drew even hoped that their trip to New Zealand would do the trick, but the baby, according to Iya, was 'made in the Philippines.' At her pictorial for Calayan Surgicentre, the Kapuso host, who is on to her second trimester, revealed why she and Drew decided to make the announcement on Easter Sunday. 'Well, nagkataon lang. We only thought of announcing it during Easter Sunday the week before. 'And then when we realized, 'O nga 'no, it’s gonna be Easter Sunday. “Sabi ko, 'Honey, it might be perfect. Sige, let’s do it Easter Sunday.'' Initially, they wanted to know the baby's gender before making the announcement.

themselves yet with baby names.

'I wanted to be able to talk about it openly.'

BOY OR GIRL? Iya couldn't seem to make up her mind.

'Baka maging sad ako, so ayoko na! Ayoko na ma-excite.

'At first I wanted a boy, and then I spoke to some friends, and' tapos biglang sabi ko, ‘Oo nga, parang nice nga kung panganay girl.’ Parang maging ate.

'I’ll save the excitement for when I know na.'

But Iya said, 'Because I also felt like I couldn’t wait any longer, I wanted to announce na e kasi na-e-excite ako.

They also don't want to preoccupy

'Of course, when the day comes, we just want to be purely our decision so we’ll feel it na lang. 'Kasi alam mo naman, ang dali lang ma-i-influence e so we might choose the name for the wrong reasons.'

"I don't care if I burn in hell for as long as the people I serve live in paradise." - Mayor Duterte BIOGRAPHY (SOURCE: rodydutertesolidgroup.com):

Rodrigo Roa Duterte was born on March 28, 1945 at Maasin, Southern Leyte to Vicente G. Duterte, who served as Governor of Davao and Soledad Roa, a school teacher and a civic leader. He spent his elementary days at the Sta. Ana Elementary School in Davao City, where he graduated in 1956. He finished his secondary education at the Holy Cross of Digos. For his tertiary education, he took up a Bachelor of Arts degree at the Lyceum of the Philippines University, where he graduated in 1968. He also obtained a law degree from San Beda College in 1972. In the same year, he passed the bar exam. Soledad R. Duterte is the mother of the present Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and widow of the late Vicente Duterte who served as Provincial Governor from 1959 to 1965. Mrs. Duterte was born on November 14, 1916 in Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte to Eleno Roa and Fortunata Gonzales. She finished her elementary and secondary education in her native town. She pursued her college education at the Philippine Normal School in Manila in 1939. She was connected with the Bureau of Public Schools as a teacher when she met and married lawyer Vicente Duterte of Cebu. The Dutertes came to Davao in 1951. Vicente as a lawyer engaged in private – practice, while Soledad as a teacher taught in the public school. Mrs. Duterte, however, but retired as a supervisor in 1952 when her lawyer – husband joined politics. She left government service owing to the demands of a politician – husband. As wife of the governor, she became familiar with the social and economic problems of the people, especially the out – of – school youth, women, children and the disabled.

Digong’s Bio and Why many think he’s the next president 8

After the 1986 People Power Revolution, Duterte was appointed officer – in – charge vice mayor. In 1988, he ran for mayor and won, serving until 1998. He set a precedent by designating deputy mayors that represented the Lumad and Moro in the city government, which was later copied in other parts of the country. In 1998, because he was term – limited to run again for mayor, he ran for the House of Representatives and won as Congressman of the 1st District of Davao City. In 2001, he ran again for mayor in Davao and was again elected for his fourth term. He was reelected in 2004 and in 2007. In 2010, he was elected vice mayor, succeeding his daughter, Sara Duterte – Carpio, who was elected as mayor. Davao City under Duterte won the National Literacy Hall of Fame Award for being a three – time first place winner in the Outstanding Local Government Unit Highly Urbanized City category. Through the support of Duterte, the City Council amended the ordinance no. 1627, Series of 1994, which imposed a prohibition on selling, serving, drinking and consumption of liquors and alcoholic beverages from 1:00 am until 8:00 am. Executive Order no. 39 was signed by

Duterte, setting the speed limits for all kinds of motor vehicles within the territorial jurisdiction of Davao City in the interest of public safety and order. The City Government of Davao acquired 10 more ambulances for central 911 intended for medical emergencies and 42 new mobile patrol vehicles and motorcycles for the Davao City and Police Office. Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, through E.O no. 24, ordered all shopping malls and commercial centers to install, operate and maintain high end and high definition closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all entrance and exit points of their premises. Davao City sent rescue and medical teams to Tacloban to give aid to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). Financial assistance was also given to Bohol and Cebu for the earthquake victims. As of January 2015, Duterte has made hints to the media of his possible intent to run for the presidency come 2016, with the promise of abolishing Congress altogether (and replacing it with a federal – parliamentary form of governance) if he ever wins. In the most recent survey from Pulse Asia and SWS Survey, Rody Duterte placed a surprising third place behind Vice President Binay and Senator Grace Poe. It was the first time his name has been included in the survey on people’s preference for President, and a very promising indicator that people all over the Philippines are clamoring for Duterte to run for the 2016 presidential election. I decided to vote for Mayor Duterte because of his 10 achievements (SOURCE: www.jamesparmis.net) Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte is known for his cursing and for being a womanizer. However, he has numerous achievements that many people are not aware of. Also dubbed as "The Punisher," Mayor Duterte seems to be not what people see on him on his speeches, interviews and debates. Below are 10 of his accomplishments that can help convince you to vote for him. #1 Development Code in Davao City (City Ordinance 5004) Implemented on July 27, 1998, the Development Code in Davao City (City

Ordinance 5004) is the first-of-its kind in the history of the Philippines. With this comprehensive and integrated approach to protect women in his city, Mayor Rody Duterte also wants women to have equal rights as men in helping build a better city, and to reduce crime against women.

implemented since 1994. But in 2013, a stricter law was enacted, which now prohibits selling and drinking liquor from 1am to 8am, instead of 2am to 6am only. And yes, this ordinance is implemented to all business establishments’ including hotels, food houses, even those that are tourist accredited.

#2 Comprehensive Anti-Smoking Ordinance As a former chain-smoker, Mayor Rody Duterte enacted Comprehensive Anti-Smoking Ordinance in 2002. In 2012, his daughter, then-Mayor Inday Sara Duterte signed City Ordinance No. 0367-12, or the New Comprehensive Anti-Smoking Ordinance which prohibits smoking in public, workplaces and establishments. And yes, this is being strictly implemented. #3 Anti-Discrimination Ordinance In December 2012, then-Vice Mayor Rody Duterte enacted hi AntiDiscrimination Ordinance, which strictly prohibits anyone in Davao City to discriminate disabled people, and to have equal rights for Christians, Muslims, Lumads, gays and lesbian. This city ordinance was widely applauded by LGBT community. Violators are being fined accordingly, and may be jailed. #4 Fire Cracker Ban Unlike in other major cities in the Philippines, City Ordinance No. 060-02 of 2002 strictly prohibits anyone to manufacture, sell, distribute, possess or use fire crackers (and other similar devices) in Davao City, as well as gun firing. So if you plan to celebrate Christmas and New Year in the city, you can be sure of being safe from related incidents, including stray bullets.

#5 Davao Central 911 The Davao Central 911 was an added feature in 2003, after the launch of the Central Communications and Emergency Response Center in 2002. This free call service offers immediate response from the police, firefighters, medical workers, as well as and rescue services. So far, the only city in the Philippines that has copied this concept in Kidapawan City. #6 Strict liquor ban The liquor ban (City Ordinance 1627) in Davao City is strictly being

www.filipinostarmagazine.com

#7 Strict speed limit On October 29, 2013, Mayor Rody Duterte released Executive Order No. 39, wherein it allows only 30 kph speed limit within the downtown area, and maximum speed of 40 kph in highways. This law then resulted to high reduction of road accidents in Davao City. And yes, this is strictly being implemented. In fact, Inday Sara Duterte was once caught, and apologized via local TV. #8 Mayor Rody Duterte as taxi driver at night In August 2013, Maria Anna Luna Saguilo of Davao City couldn't help but post her once-in-a-lifetime heartwarming experiences in Davao City on Facebook. According to her, she was surprise to know that the taxi that she rode one night is no less than Mayor Rody Duterte. Yes, the tough-talking mayor randomly drives taxi at night, hoping to catch bad elements in the city. #9 Mayor Rody Duterte declined Cabinet offers Former presidents Fidel Ramos, Joseph Estrada and Gloria MacapagalArroyo offered Mayor Rody Duterte to be the DILG secretary but he declined. Even President Noynoy Aquino offered him the same post when Secretary Jesse Robredo died. But he again declined, maintaining his stand that he is not qualified. Humility is a character that very rare leaders have accomplished. #10 Mayor Rody Duterte gives monthly allowance to drug dependents Despite his strong campaign against illegal drugs, Mayor Rody Duterte has a soft spot for drug dependents especially the youth. In fact, his administration is giving P2,000-monthly allowance to local drug users who submit themselves and are willing to be treated at the 1.2-hectare Rehabilitation Center for Drug Dependents (RCDD) in BagoTugbok District, Davao City. 9

John Lloyd Cruz says he is currently single; opens up about issue with Bea Alonzo As Posted on PEP.ph

J

ohn Lloyd Cruz clarifies that he currently has no love life.

“Wala po, e,” said the Kapamilya actor during the presscon proper of his launch as the Philippine ambassador of Western Union, at the Marriot Hotel, Pasay City, last March 31. When prodded to be more truthful, John Lloyd replied, “I try my best to always speak the truth.” During his interview with the members of the press, the Kapamilya actor was asked again about the real status of his love life. He added, “Mga haka-haka lang yung iba. Last January, John Lloyd and Angelica Panganiban have called it quits. Bea Alonzo was allegedly involved in the breakup. But John Lloyd refuted this. He said that he and his perennial onscreen partner are just friends. The award-winning actor added, “E, ganun naman talaga, e. When asked to set the record straight, John Lloyd replied, “I don’t need to set the record straight. Wala namang nagbabago. “Parang basta kayo pa [pertaining to the press] ang unang makakaalam, makikita niyo naman yun, e, di ba? 10

“Tsaka pag ganun, hindi naman dapat yun inililihim or itinatago.

shared more than enough para sa mga interesado.

“Life is too short, di ba?

“Because I know naman I owe it to my public and I have to share a piece of my pie and, yun lang po, hanggang dun lang.

“Dapat you have to make every moment count. “Nakakahiya naman kung magde-deny pa tayo,” continued the 32-year-old actor. Is he single at the moment? “Yeah. Yeah,” he replied. Does he and Bea talk about the issue of being romantically linked to each other? John Lloyd said, “Hindi naman namin siya pinag-uusapan per se, pero we don’t feel the need to talk about it. ON ANGELICA. PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) then asked John Lloyd if he and Angelica already had a closure or if they still communicate. “Unang-una, that’s a very personal question,” he answered. “I’ve said enough about it. “I think that’s all I’m going to say about it, and yun lang. “I wish I could tell you more, but it’s too personal.” John Lloyd continued, “Parang minsan talaga, meron nang hangganan yung kaya nating i-share, but I think I’ve www.filipinostarmagazine.com

John Lloyd Cruz praised his leading lady Jennylyn Mercado, whom he worked for the first time in a movie. They are paired in the upcoming Star Cinema movie, Just The 3 Of Us, which is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

Filipino Star Magazine. Vancouver Edition. April, 2016

Apart from working together for the first time, what makes this team-up interesting is the fact that they are from

two rival TV networks: John Lloyd is from ABS-CBN Channel 2 while Jennylyn is from GMA-7.

John Lloyd also mentioned that the chance to work together gave them the chance to know more about each other.

And it was the only time that John Lloyd found out that Jennylyn is also a singer.

Asked how Jennylyn is as an actress, the box-office actor described, “Masaya. Very professional, very dedicated. Wala akong masabi.

“In one of our bonding moments kasama yung staff naming, yung direktor namin, hindi ko po kasi alam na meron na pala siyang limang albums. Sobrang random lang.

“Like all the women na nakatrabaho ko in the past, I think importante rin ang Jennylyn Mercado sa atin, sa industriya natin.” John Lloyd did not disregard the fact that Jennylyn is a multi-awarded actress, as he is a multi-awarded actor.

“She’s a fantastic singer pala. Hindi ko alam,” he said shyly.

“We went to a family KTV, nagkantahan kami, kumanta siya. And parang jawdropping. Galing talaga.” When asked what makes this project with Jennylyn exciting for him, John Lloyd replied, “I’m very excited kasi gusto kong malaman, after the film or in this film, makikita natin kung ano talaga ang pwede o meron sa aming dalawa, as far as doing a film is concerned.”

An Open Letter from a Filipino Staff Nurse in Canada for Mayor Duterte goes viral online

H

ello My Fellow Duterte Supporters. As Part of this Page I want to share to you my own Duterte Story.

Exact word nya "You send representatives and volunteers to Tacloban and make sure that nobody touches the goods. Philippine Government cannot be trusted. Hand it personally to the victims!" Ouch medyo awkward Pinoy po ako Madame! Lol.

Sabi ng kasama naming Canadian Team Leader "That guy should run in politics, not like that guy in blue (Mar Roxas) who stayed in his tent and just give orders i can't believe your President trusted him to be the Head of the Response Team he just sit there, eat his delicious meal, go out and act helpful whenever there is media and camera, i think he’s planning to run in a higher position, but i like that old guy, he’s really something, he'll make a good politician" yun narinig ng isang duktor lumapit sya sa amin at nagsabi sa akin "Excuse me po, Nurse actually talagang pulitiko po sya, Sya

po si Mayor Rodrigo Duterte ng Davao City". Ah! From that time, di na nawala sa isip ko ang pangalan nya nakita ko pa na kahit pagod sya nakuha pa nyang ngumiti ng my lumapit sa kanyang isang bata na my dalang tinapay. Di talaga sya kagaya ng ibang pulitiko who loves to be interviewed and featured.

Kris Aquino admits ‘feeling a bit low’ over Kris TV replays As Posted on PEP.ph

I'll admit, I was feeling a bit low these past few days realizing that they're airing Kris TV replays while preparing the new show to replace me in a couple of weeks... “There were nonstop selfies & I think my mom just wanted to remind me how blessed I've been to have touched so many lives & moving on isn't really something to fear but something to look forward to. “And that's because looking back at my 20 years on TV, you gave me so much of your time, attention & affection.

Rocco told PEP, “Lovi hasn’t talked about it.

Nora Aunor to undergo throat operation in July As Posted on PEP.ph “Pero malalim daw yata yung tinamaan, may nerve na tinamaan, at iyon ang ooperahan.”

I

Huwag mainip.

Trust and respect.

“Nung [March] 26, nung birthday niya, day itself, then bumalik ako [sa Manila] the next day.” Sabi niya tungkol dito, “Step by step po, step by step. “At least po kahit papaano. Masaya naman, oo.” 29
