“Heneral Luna” has bagged three nods at the 10th Asian Film Awards (AFA). The historical biopic film is nominated in Best Costume Design and Best Production Design categories while lead star John Arcilla is up for the Best Actor plum.
‘Heneral Luna’ gets 3 nominations at AFA As Posted on PEP.ph and death of General Antonio Luna, who led the Philippine revolutionary army during the Philippine-American war.
It is the second time a Pinoy actor has received a nomination in the category after Eddie Garcia won the award for the 2013 film “Bwakaw.” Note that Nora Aunor bagged the Best Actress award for “Thy Womb” the same year.
According to it’s website, AFA “celebrates excellence in Asian cinema through the annual presentation of awards to the many diverse talents and films that makes up the dynamic film industries of the region.” The founding members of the awards ceremony are from Busan, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
Eugene Domingo won the People’s Choice Award for Best Actress for “Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank” in 2012, and Best Actress nomination for “Barber’s Tales” in 2014.
The 10th Asian Film Awards is on March 17 at The Venetian Macao in Macau.

he's recently bagged and took home two awards: Wish Female Artist of the Year and Wishers’ Choice Female Artist of the Year from the first ever WISH 107.5 Music Awards.
It did not take long for her lack of sleep, determination and sacrifices to pay off as she reached the top 4 on the said competition and bagged the 1st runner up spot, next to winner Eula Caballero.
With a voice comparable and akin to Mariah Carey and whose vocal range spans five octaves and five notes, there's no wonder why Morissette Amon was tagged as " The Next Big Diva."
After her 'The Star Factor' stint, Mr. David Cosico saw Morissette's potential and that's when she took her under his wing.
At age 19, Morissette Amon has already achieved and has established herself in the Philippine entertainment and music industry. Early age to when she's 'yet to reach her dreams' Born as Johanne Morissette D. Amon on June 2, 1996 and was raised in Cebu City from a 'musically inclined' family, it did not take long for her parents to notice her signing prowess... at the very young age of 3. Morissette fondly recalled and shared, "Nasa labas sila 'nun and there was a karaoke machine at home. Nagulat lang sila narinig nila na kumakanta ako ng 'You are My Song' ni Regine Velasquez." Success comes to those who persevere, they say, and that is how Morissette worked her way up. She has started her singing stints by joining several singing contest in Cebu. She's also done and performed front acts in mall tours back in Cebu. Some fo which were Sarah Geronimo and Kim Chiu's shows. Morissette told FSM, "Growing up, I like to sing to Regine Velasquez's songs and Jessa Zaragoza and then coach Sarah's." It was when Morissette joined TV5's "The Star Factor" that paved way for her exposure in the industry. She was chosen to be one of the finalists and that's when Morissette and her mother moved in to Manila to try her luck. Her mom Ann, recalled, "She really wanted to sing. We saw her passion in singing and that's why we supported her all the way."
Mommy Ann recollects, "talagang sinuyo niya kami and nakita naman namin na maganda talaga 'yung intensyon niya, kaya napapayag din kami." In 2012, Morissette auditioned and got the role of Mitchie Flores on the Repertory Philippines Disney's Camp Rock: The Musical. 2013: Transfer to ABS-CBN and The Voice of the Philippines "The transfer was not as easy. But most of the stars I've wroked with in TV5 were very supportive of my audition in 'The Voice of the Philippines," Morissette beamingly shared. Mommy Ann added, "she was in a shoot hours before her audition in 'The Voice' and they (co-stars in TV5) were telling her to 'go!'" "They were very supportive of it!" closes Mommy Ann. She sang Beyonce's "Love on Top" during the blind auditions and was chosen by Popstar Princess, Sarah Geronimo. During the semi-finals, Morissette sang Jessie J's "Who You Are" but lost to her co-team Klarisse De Guzman. The lost did not stop Morissette and she continued to work hard in reaching her dreams through her passion and love for singing. Star Records Family and her rise to Stardom It was during her first solo concert in May 2014, entitled "This is Me", where Morissette made the announcement that she is already a part of Star Records family. Mapaliwanag’ as her carrier single. This original song was the theme song for the Koreanovela “My Lovely Girl” and had won as Asianovela Themesong of the Year (2015). She too received the Best New Female Recording Artist awards during the 7th PMPC Star Awards for Music and was also recognized by the 34th National Consumer Affairs Foundation Seal of Excellence Awards as the Outstanding Female Performing Artist of the Year. Personal and Family Life Morissette can still be considered as “young” in showbiz even if she’s already received several recognitions. When asked how she keeps her self grounded and humble, Morissette modestly answered, “I owe that to my family. They would always remind me and treat me as I am.” Mommy Ann laughingly shared, “she still do chores! She keeps her room clean and she washes the dishes at home.” FSM did not pass on to ask how her ‘lovelife’ is coming along, Morissette, with much conviction and matching shaking of the head answered, “No. None. Career first.” Probing and followed with the question on how she can sing with so much emotion and heart, she shared, “I like to listen to other people’s story. I like to put myself in their positions and of course, there’s my family and relatives.” There is no doubt that we are to see much more of Morissette Amon in Philippine music industry and maybe, just maybe, we all can dream and dream along with her, she maybe able to reach the international music scene. ast January 24, Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup-Lee gave birth to her first baby, Nyla Kelsey, with husband Lloyd Lee. Three days after welcoming their daughter, Shamcey posted on Instagram their first family photo. The arrival of Baby Nyke is an answered prayer for Shamcey, who wanted to give birth before turning 30 (she will turn 30 this May 16) to avoid any difficulties with the pregnancy.

Grace Poe tearfully says fight for presidency is worth it As Posted on PEP.ph

enator Grace Poe was brought to tears when asked if joining the presidential race is worth the controversies and legal cases that she is currently faced with. At first, she could only muster a thumbs up as she was trying to keep her emotions in check. After a few seconds, she said, “What a privilege it is to be in a position to help our countrymen. “It is worth the fight. “It is worth the fight if you feel that you can institute change at a faster pace and that it can be felt by those in need.” Since she started her political career in 2013, Poe pointed out that she was able to push for an institutionalized free lunch feeding program for public school kids nationwide to address malnutrition. She also cited the amendments for the dangerous drug act that she has championed for it to be easier to file a case against drug pushers. Poe further explained during the Meet the Inquirer forum last January 28: "So, if they’re questioning now my citizenship, I’m willing to go through it. "Because I’ve seen that even in the senate—where your hands are tied because all you can do is legislate
but the implementation is not in your hands—you can still do oversight, you can still do budget, that can be felt by our countrymen.” Poe, the adopted daughter of the late Fernando Poe Jr. and actress Susan Roces, is facing at least four disqualification cases soon after she filed her certificate of candidacy as president last October. Last December 22, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc ruled to disqualify her from joining the presidential race due to issues surrounding her residency and status as a foundling. To date, the Supreme Court is still in the process of conducting hearings with regard to the disqualification cases filed against the senator. ngelina Jolie’s “Unbroken” has opened more than a year after the rest of the world in Japan, the country where the main character endures as a prisoner of war and where some have called for a boycott of the movie. There were concerns right-wing extremists may try to disrupt the last February 6.. The crowd at Theatre Image Forum in Tokyo appeared engrossed in the film, flinching at the torture scenes and sympathizing with the hero, Louis Zamperini. The distributor said in a statement it decided to go ahead as various views on war should be expressed. “Unbroken” is based on the true story of Zamperini, an Olympic athlete who was abused in World War II camps until Japan’s defeat in 1945.

he Makati Regional Trial Court has ordered the Philippine Stock Exchange to seize the stocks and other personal properties of LBC Express Holdings Inc., according to a report from The Philippine Star.
The report added that "the order was triggered by the P1.8 billion collection case filed by the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC) against the Araneta family’s LBC Group." PDIC is the liquidator and receiver of LBC Development Bank, which closed in 2011. In a circular posted on its website, the PSE said the Notice of Garnishment will cover “all the goods, effects, stocks, and any other personal properties of the defendants in the possession of the exchange to cover the P1.824 billion” in unpaid service fees. The defendants in the case representing LBC Express Inc., LBC Development Corp. and LBC Properties Inc., are Juan Carlos Araneta, Santiago Araneta, Fernando Araneta, Monica Araneta, Carlos Araneta, Ma. Eliza Berenguer, Ofelia Cuevas, Apolonio Ilio, Joseph Jeffrey Rodriguez and Arlan Jurado. According to PhilStar, "LBC earlier said it continues to exert all efforts to fully attend to the needs of its customers and ensure regular ongoing operations." 28

Warrant of Arrest was issued to a Filipino owner in Canada
O
n December 2015, a money transfer business “SR Cash Remit” located in Marlborough Mall in Calgary, was closed unexpectedly due to financial issues. This was owned by a Filipino who is currently facing charges from alleged financial complaint. The authorities received 76 complaints from customers who are mostly Filipino. According to them, their loved ones in the Philippines never received the money that they sent through SR Cash Remit. Some of the customers argued that they have been using the said remittance to send money to the Philippines for a year without any trouble. At first, the service was fast enough and it only took hours for the money to be transferred. All of a sudden, there was a delay in the transaction and they were told that it would take up to 3 days for their family to receive the money. An apology message was given by the accused to customers for the inconvenience and delay of her SR Cash Remit services. Also, an assurance

that everything will be settled had been relayed. However, nothing happened and the owner suddenly stopped responding to messages. The authorities issued a warrant of arrest that prompted all people affected from the irregularities to file a complaint and further escalate their issues. Family Express is also affected by this issue as SR Cash Remit was among their agents that were authorized to receive money from customers. Family Express was the one who advance funds their partner abroad. Thus, SR Cash Remit was expected to transfer the money received from customers to Family Express. However, problem arises. Here is the timeline prior to the closure of the said remittance center: Around July 5, 2015 – SR Cash Remit issued 3 cheques amounting $80,000 but the cheques bounced due to nonsufficient funds Around July 13, 2015- SR Cash Remit failed to transfer the amount $33,0000 Aug 2015 – SR cash Remit failed

As such, anyone who has information about the case is encouraged to contact police.
