fter 42 years, the Miss Universe crown is now back in the Philippines after its candidate Pia Alonzo-Wurtzbach won the crown last December 20 (December 21, Manila time).
Gloria Diaz was the first Filipina to be crowned as Miss Universe in 1969 followed by Margie Moran in 1973.
The Miss Universe coronation was held at The AXIS in Las Vegas, Nevada wherein 80 contestants vied for the crown.
Pia already showed at very big potential of winning even at the start of the competition. The Top 15 were first announced wherein she is included along with Brazil, Australia, Indonesia, Dominican Republic, France, USA,
The winner for the 64th Miss Universe was a roller coaster ride after its host, Steve Harvey, announced the wrong winner. Miss USA Olivia Jordan was crowned 2nd runner-up and Miss Colombia Ariadna Guiterrez and Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach vied for the Miss U crown. Mistake happened when Harvey announced Miss Colombia as Miss Universe which automatically placed Miss Philippines in first runner-up. But just as when Miss Colombia was taking her final walk, Harvey came in and apologized for his false announcement saying Miss Colombia was the first runnerup and the real Miss Universe 2015 is Miss Philippines. Harvey even showed the cue card where the winning candidates were written. Pia walked towards the center of the stage and was followed by 2014 Miss Universe--Miss Colombia. Pia was not able to have her "moment" at the stage as the live broadcast of the prestigious beauty pageant was cut short.

This includes USA, Colombia, Japan, Thailand, Australia, Dominican Republic, France, Curacao, Philippines and Venezuela. Evening gown competition followed after the announcement of the Top 10 candidates. Pia wore an Albert Andrada blue gown. After the evening gown portion, the most awaited Top 5 was announced wherein Pia was the third to be called.
She was asked: "Earlier this year, there was a controversy in Philippines about the United States reopening a base in your country. Do you think the United States should have a military presence in your country?" Miss Philippines answered: "I think that the United States and the Philippines have always had a good relationship with each other. We were colonized by the Americans and we have their culture and our traditions even up to this day and I think that we're very welcoming with the Americans. And I don't see any problem with that at all."
The Top 5 were: France, Colombia, Australia, USA, Colombia and Philippines.

Global online voting was launched during the 2015 Miss Universe as another basis of judging and Pia leads the competition.
It showed a photo of her when she was crowned Miss Universe 2015 and while she was waiving at the audience.
The other candidates' votes were also included.
She said, “I know it took me a long time to post this. I needed some time to get settled in cos everything was happening so fast. “Now everything is sinking in and I'm almost done replying and thanking everyone as much as I can. Okay. Here goes.”
Question & Answer During the Question & Answer portion, Pia was asked why she deserves to win the crown. Pia answered: "If I were to win Miss Universe, I will use my voice to influence the youth and I would raise awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness that is timely and relevant to my country which is Philippines.
I want to show the world, the universe rather, that I am confidently beautiful with a heart. Thank you." She was also asked of socially relevant issues.

Bago pumasok ang 2016, kinoronahan bilang Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International ang Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific International na si Leren Mae Bautista. Naganap ang naturang pageant sa Putrajaya Marriott Hotel and Spa Grand Ballroom sa Sepang Utara, Malaysia. Tinalo ng 22-year-old na tagaLaguna ang 52 candidates para sa naturang titulo. Ang runners-up ni Leren na nabigyan din ng iba’t ibang titles ay ang mga sumusunod: Miss India (Dream Girl of the Year International); Miss Iceland (Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International); Miss Lithuania (Miss Tourism Global International); at Miss Uganda (Miss Tourism Metropolitan International). Master Showman German “Kuya Germs” Moreno dies at 82 As Posted on PEP.ph

umakabilang-buhay na ang tinaguriang Master Showman na si German "Kuya Germs" Moreno.
Si Kuya Germs ay pumanaw noong January 8 ng madaling araw. Siya ay 82 years old. Kinumpirma ng pamangkin ni Kuya Germs na si John Nite ang malungkot na balitang ito, sa pamamagitan ng isang statement na ipinamahagi sa media. Ayon kay John, pumanaw si Kuya Germs ng 3:20 A.M. noong January 8 dahil sa cardiac arrest. Nakasaad pa sa statement ang mga sumusunod: "He passed on in the company of his family and friends. "He lived a full life, touched so many hearts through the years, and helped make dreams come true for most of the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry. "We are deeply saddened by his passing but we are comforted by the thought that his legacy will live on."

few weeks after the controversial Miss Universe 2015 coronation night, Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez admitted that she felt very humiliated after she was mistakenly crowned as the winner of the pageant. According to Colombia’s W Radio, translated and published in CNN’s January 1 report, Ariadna described the whole debacle as a “great injustice.” Gutierrez said, “It has been very hard for me, truly, it has been a great shock.” “Because it is a dream I fought for. “I have always dreamed of this, of being Miss Universe... “It was very humiliating for me.” The 22-year-old Colombian beauty queen recalled that she initially thought pageant host Steve Harvey was just ribbing her when he belatedly announced the he named the wrong Miss Universe 2015 winner. Recounting the moment where she was momentarily shocked about Harvey’s apology, Gutierrez revealed, “I thought it was a joke. “In the rehearsals, he did things like that.” It can be recalled that Miss Colombia was announced and crowned as the Miss Universe 2015 winner for two minutes before Harvey apologized for his grave mistake. Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was then called back onstage to be hailed as the rightful Miss Universe 2015 titlist. Following her humiliating experience, Gutierrez shared that she kept a low profile for a while to cope with what happened. She added, “I was disconnected. I haven’t received phone calls from
