Why Saab Magalona has been saying noA Pto TV projects PEP. s osted on
H
aving Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran, two of the brightest stars of Sampaguita Pictures, as grandparents, and Master Rapper Francis M as father, make the Magalona siblings true-blue children of showbiz. Thus, it's not surprising that five— Maxene, Saab, Elmo, Frank, and Arkin— out of eight Magalona siblings have marked their respective spots in showbiz. But having a popular surname does not entail a bed of roses. Saab admits, “People will say sikat ka kasi you have the last name, it’s hard, di ba?" she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the recent Johnnie Walker event. “It’s very difficult to overcome that. “It’s not my fault that I was born to this family. "It’s really difficult but okay lang, I’m here. “Especially with me, it’s hard kasi my sister [Maxene Magalona] is also in showbiz. “She started way younger, and I always been compared to her ever since I was in high school. "But the thing is, you just have to find your own thing. “I didn’t want to compete with her, especially I don’t wanna be compared to her, she’s my best friend, my sister."
ph
NO TO SHOWBIZ. Saab decided to be less visible on television due to its erratic schedule. “It was really taking up a lot of my time and I had no time doing anything else. “Kasi for me, I stopped doing TV work, and somehow, I guess you still hear my name doing different things because I chose to do other stuff kasi.” Saab is a radio DJ, vocalist of the rock band Cheats where her husband Jim Baccaro is also a member, and a blog writer for her own spellsaab.juice.ph.
“They say a lot of things about me na parang, 'Buntis ka kaya ka nagpapakasal.' “It’s sad to think na people don’t really believe in true love anymore. “A lot of people assume that young people, when they get married, it means they are pregnant. “What if we just wanna get married? It’s been seven months and there’s no baby." So when are they planning to have a baby? “Not right now,” Saab answered. Saab said in a previous interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that she and Jim plan to have kids in three to four years as they want to travel first, and spend time with their dog Joey.
“I just have all the time to do all of these. I am not boxed in, and I don’t have a corporate job nine to five. “But I am not saying it’s a bad thing to have a corporate job. It is not just for me. “And I think I found the proper formula: to succeed on my own terms. “I work hard pa rin, and not become the usual housewife. “You still need to do what you love." MARRIED LIFE. Saab still feels giddy over Jim seven months after they got married. “It’s really really so much fun, and it’s crazy to wake up every day next to him. “Masaya. It’s the best decision I have made.” Saab clarified that she didn’t get married because she's pregnant.

Reasons Why Pinoys Are Going Gaga Over
#AlDub
P
inoys are love team fanatics, every generation has one of them that really sticks to our hearts. But not all of them have that authenticity. Most of them actually are scripted, and even “forced” just to bring in the viewers… Enter the #AlDub love team. They aren’t your usual #Kathniel or #DongYan love team. Their chemistry was accidentally discovered when Yaya Dub accidentally saw Alden Richards watching her through the monitor, and the rest is history. As raw as their love team is, everybody has been going gaga over the #AlDub. 8
Alden Richards, one of GMA Network’s princes, and Maine Mendoza, who is dubbed as the “Dubsmash Queen”, now known as Yaya Dub of Eat Bulaga is now making everybody have that “kilig” feeling. A kilig feeling that seems natural, unpretentious and one that every Pinay is fantasizing about. In just a week, Pinoys here and abroad have been clamoring for the couple. There must be something that makes everybody tune in to Eat Bulaga every noontime. So what’s up with this “breakthrough” love team? I found 7 reasons why this love team isn’t just working out, they www.filipinostarmagazine.com
Filipino Star Magazine. Vancouver Edition. October, 2015
really are a representation of every Pinay’s fantasy…. Reason # 1: The AlDub love team is spontaneous and natural The chemistry and sparks were just accidental. While Yaya Dub was doing a live funny dubsmash, the camera caught Alden Richards laughing and being amused with Yaya Dub’s performance. Yaya Dub then saw Alden on the monitor which made her conscious. Remember how you felt when your crush finally noticed you? That’s how their first encounter felt. Reason # 2: The #AlDub love story is the local version of Cinderella Yaya Dub is just Lola Nidora’s maid, while Alden is a TV hunk. And with Lola Nidora’s “Evil Lola” image that seems to get in their way, everyone is waiting what fate this couple has. Reason # 3: Yaya Dub looks all Filipina
One reason why this couple clicks is because of Yaya Dub’s Filipina beauty. It’s easy to fall in love with a mestiza, they are all over the Philippine entertainment industry. But a Filipina beauty to stand out? That’s rare. And with Alden noticing this Filipina beauty, everybody is just cheering on! Reason #4: Because guys love girls with a sense of humor It is true. It’s not just women who fall into the trap of funny men, guys also fall for girls with a sense of humor! Yaya Dub is as funny as any girl can be. That’s why Alden can’t stop smiling! Reason #5: The #AlDub Chemistry For some reason, everybody can see their eyes sparkle even if they only see each other through a TV monitor. Alden’s
smile can’t be faked, and Yaya Dub who never smiled before now looks prettier and can’t seem to stop smiling! Reason #6: #AlDub is not a “showbiz” type of love team While other love teams need a lot of publicity in order to make a buzz, a lot of Filipinos have fallen for #AlDub because they are not “showbiz”. Although of course, they are now provided with a script since their chemistry was discovered, they became popular not because of any other publicity. They are just popular because they are who they are. Reason #7: #AlDub makes us believe in #forever As cheesy as it is, there something in this couple that makes us want to believe in forever. It’s that feeling we get whenever we see them on screen. We haven’t really seen them together on TV, but that “kilig” that we feel when the camera focuses on the couple makes us believe that maybe, there really is forever! ‘Heneral Luna’ hits P100M As Posted on MB.com.PH

istorical biopic “Heneral Luna,” the Philippines’ official submission to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category, has hit a big milestone a month after its release, earning some P100M at the tills. It is said that “Heneral Luna” was made to the tune of P80M.

May mga nagsasabi na na-touch daw sila and naiyak daw sila and for the first time daw naramdaman ’yung pagka-Pilipino. Nakakatuwa.” Meanwhile, people on social media questioned the character of Apolinario
Film director and producer Jerrold Tarog announced the good news on his Twitter account, and thanked moviegoers for the support. What are we teaching our kids? “I really call on to people to support films like this, so producers can continue funding films like this. It’s (‘Heneral Luna’) part of a trilogy. Claudine Barretto reveals court battle with estranged husband Raymart Santiago almost settled As Posted on PEP.PH
P
umukaw sa atensiyon ng followers ni Claudine Barretto ang kanyang Instagram post na ito last week: “I tried. I tried. I tried. I tried. I’m tired.” May caption pa itong “I really did.” Paliwanag ng 36-year-old actress, “It was something between na talagang Raymart [Santiago, her estranged husband] and I na inaayos sa court, na ito na yung last.
CLAUDINE IS BACK.
I am Claudine Barretto and…” Dugtong ni Claudine, “…I’m back and I’m here to stay.”
“Pangalawa, panindigan.

“So, dun yun, dun yun nanggagaling yung ‘I tried.’
Sa isang bahagi ng “Fast Talk” segment ng Tonight With Boy Abunda, natanong si Claudine kung 'Sex or chocolates.'
“At kaya akong buhayin.”

Sen. Bong Revilla sets aside presidential ambition in 2016: “As of now, I want to clear my name muna.” As Posted on PEP.PH
I
“I WANT TO CLEAR MY NAME.”

Saad ng actor-politician, “As of now, I want to clear my name muna. “Yung pagtakbo, I’m not in a hurry. I’m still young. Forty-nine years old pa lamang ngayon ang senador. Dennis Trillo thrilled at Felix Manalo’s two Guinness world ecords As Posted on PEP.PH
M
asayang-masaya si Dennis Trillo na ang pelikula niyang Felix Manalo ay nakakuha ng dalawang Guinness World Records: Largest Attendance For A Film Screening at Largest Attendance For A Film Premiere. EFFECT ON MOVIEGOERS. "And maraming mapupulot na 16

IMPACT ON CAREER.

“Pero sobrang thankful and grateful ako, at isang www.filipinostarmagazine.com

UNDER LIBERAL PARTY.

Beatles contract sold for £365,000 at London auction
with Epstein when Pete Best was still the drummer. After his replacement by Starr less than nine months later, the two parties had to put pen to paper again. “Without this contract, and the relationship it represents, it seems inconceivable that the Beatles could have achieved all that they did: it took more than inspired musicianship and song-writing to remake popular music,” said Gabriel Heaton, Sotheby’s specialist in books and manuscripts. “The presentation, direction, and internal harmony of the Beatles all owed a huge amount to Brian Epstein.” The new contract features the signatures of the musicians, with the fathers of McCartney and Harrison acting as cosignatories because their sons were younger than 21 at the time.
T
he contract that launched the career of the Beatles was sold on September 29 in London for £365,000 (492,000 euros, $553,000), auction house Sotheby’s said. The document was signed by John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with their manager Brian Epstein on October
1, 1962 — four days before the release of their first single “Love Me Do”. It was the only deal signed by the four final Beatles members with Epstein, who died from an accidental overdose in 1967 and was dubbed the “fifth Beatle” by McCartney. The band had first signed a contract

Under the contract, band members were required to give one month’s notice before leaving the group, while another clause stated that any member could be expelled “should two or more of them desire”. The document also outlined the different commission rates that Epstein would receive for earnings of up to £400, up to £800 and more than £800 a week. As Posted on MB.com.ph

Orlando Bloom visits migrant camp
H
ollywood actor Orlando Bloom paid a visit to the Gevgelija migrant transit camp in Macedonia on September 29, as part of his role as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations’ Children’s Fund Unicef. The “Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor played with children as he toured the camp, which lies on Macedonia’s border with Greece. He also spoke with several of the camp’s inhabitants, who were awaiting the next part of their journey into Western Europe. Thousands of migrants, many of them Syrian refugees, have been making their way towards the European Union, first embarking on perilous boat journeys to Greece and then continuing on buses and trains. Europe’s migration crisis has seen a large numbers of people stuck in chaotic and squalid conditions on countries’ borders or walking along roads seeking a new home. As Posted on MB.com.ph

Kim Chiu confirms ex-boyfriend Gerald Anderson cheated on her As Posted on PEP.ph Dagdag pa niya, “Hindi naman natin maipagkakaila.
Tugon ni Kim, “Meron kasing kasabihan 'yan na, ‘Sharing is good, but cheating is bad.’’ EX-BF CHEATED ON HER.
THE MISTRESS. Dating mag-best friend sina Kim at Maja. Hindi naman na raw nasasaktan si Kim dahil aniya, “It’s part of growing up—the pain.”

President Noynoy Aquino to call DepEd’s attention over students’ lack of knowledge about Apolinario Mabini As Posted on PEP.PH

Manny Pacquiao announces senatorial bid in 2016 As Posted on PEP.ph
P
inoy boxing champ Manny Pacquiao has announced his intention to run for senator in the 2016 national elections. The athlete-politician made the announcement at his last State of the District Address in Sarangani province earlier on October 5. However, according to ABS-CBN News, the 36-year-old congressman did not say under which political party he would be running. “Yes, I'm going to run for [a] Senate post
this coming 2016 election. But as to which party, that's still t be determined, says Manny. The Pambansang Kamao is currently under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) party, which is headed by 2016 presidential candidate Jejomar Binay. But according to earlier reports, the Liberal Party is open to include Manny to their senatorial lineup should he aim for a senatorial post in 2016. Lutong Nanay: Guilt-free pandesal By: Mrs. Z.
A
But this Lutong Nanay version uses natural low calorie sweetener (xylitol and stevia) as well as really good fats such as coconut oil and butter from grass fed cows na pwedeng-pwede sa mga diabetics at nagbabawas ng timbang. This bread will also assist in your fat loss because it has about 2 grams of protein in each pandesal because of the addition of natural whey powder. With Thermomix, this recipe is very easy to make. STEP 1: Activating the yeast Ingredients 8 gms instant yeast (1 pack) 1/2 cup water to activate the yeast 1 tsp organic cane sugar Directions Using the Thermomix, combine ingredients and mix for 1 min at 37 degrees celsius, speed 2. Let it stand for 15 mins. You should see the yeast start to form froth at the top. STEP 2: Kneading the dough Ingredients 4 cups all-purpose flour 2 scoops whey protein (I prefer to use the Kaizen brand of natural whey protein. This is from New Zealand cows.) 1/4 cup xylitol 4 tbsp melted butter (Best to use butter from grass fed cows)
1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt. It is best to use ground Himalayan salt 1 tbsp oil (coconut oil) 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup water Directions Add all ingredients into the Thermomix (TM) bowl except for the 1/2 cup water. Knead for 2 minutes. Make sure the blade is set to “Dough” or “Knead”. During the kneading process, use the Thermomix spatula to ensure the dough does not stick to the top mart of the TM bowl. Knead for an additional 1 minute but this time, slowly add the remaining 1/2 cup water throughout the kneading process.

Place the covered bowl in the oven, turn it on, setting the temperature to 200 degrees F and let it pre-heat for 1 minute. After 1 minute, turn the over off. Don`t let it reach the 200 degrees F mark. Leave in the oven for 30 mins. The dough should double in size. STEP 4: Form the rolls Ingredients Bread crumbs
