14+ Nothing to lose (YA Fiction) Synopsis A perfect world, that of Nino, where things go exactly how they should go. Straight. Without mistakes. So mom and dad have designed it for him, since he was a child. In this idea of perfection, nor mom nor dad can accept that Nino realizes to be homosexual. They cannot, simply because this would upset their universe. So they send him to a “gay cure” clinic. The book tells the story of a boy forced to correct his mistaken nature in a way that does not belong to himself, in which he does not recognize himself and whose outcome will risk to prove fatal. To save him it will be his natural life force and the true and solid friendship with Grace.
Excerpt I'm not sure I know why I'm here, so I offer Don Massimo the words of my father. He seems to appreciate them, he smiles, he nods his head. If it were something else, something you can change, something that can be cured? If it were for example a..." I stop. Something stops the words on my tongue, a bitter taste that I do not recognize. Don Massimo looks at me, I cannot go on. And I remain there with the sentence incomplete, suspended on a word which is struggling to come out: “a disease."
