outes Rentals & Tours, Inc has announced the first and only haunted bicycle tours in Albuquerque, Tour De Frights. The first tours begin October 20th with a 2.5 hour bicycle excursion throughout the historic and haunted city of Albuquerque. Professional Routes bicycle guides will lead riders to some of the most haunted spots in Albuquerque, as well as many lesser known locals and hidden hotspots, to weave the tales of their shadowy past and supernatural present. The tour begins and ends at the Routes Rentals & Tours bicycle shop, located at 1102 Mountain Rd. Albuquerque, NM 87102, where participants are invited to mingle with complementary treats and refreshments. Tour De Frights, Albuquerque’s fist and only haunted bicycle tour, is recommended for adults and open-minded children (12+). The tour will travel along designated bicycle-friendly paths with moderate terrain and street riding at night. Costumes are encouraged (as long as they are safe to ride in). Each night a prize will be given to the best costume. Ticket prices are $35 with a bicycle rental and $25 if customers provide their own. Routes Rentals & Tours, Inc. is Albuquerque’s premier bicycle rental and tour company. Opened in May of 2011, Routes has already made a name for itself with its high-quality signature yellow-tire cruiser bikes, concierge-level customer service, and the team’s dedication/passion for the city of Albuquerque. Customers can rent for the hour, half-day (4 hours), full-day (24 hours), and weekly starting at $15. The shop offers free delivery throughout the city and even delivers to Santa Fe and Taos. Q

uestion: I have a room in my home that is filled with stuff, but I can’t seem to let any of it go. What do I do? Please help.

Great question! I can feel your pain (smile). In 2004 I purchased my parent’s 4300 sq. foot home. Every room was filled with their stuff (they were both deceased). It took me quite a while before I got up the courage to face their STUFF. Let me share what worked for me at that time. By doing so I believe you will find the beginning of your path to getting rid of your stuff. Many times there is an emotional attachment to stuff that is created because someone we know (or knew) gave it to us, left it for us, and/or used the stuff while they were alive. This emotional attachment is sometimes difficult to recognize. However, once it is acknowledged, it becomes easier to create the disconnection to the emotion, thereby allowing one to get rid of stuff. My theory is that the stuff around us represents the stuff inside of us. That said, consider the following tips. 1. I had to acknowledge that the only thing holding me back from cleaning out their house was - ME – and my internal dialogue. Often our internal dialogue is as big as life. For every word you say to yourself, there is a picture associated with it. Often those

pictures create and become our reality. Once you recognize this fact, you can change your internal conversation. Begin to tell yourself you can get rid of that stuff. See yourself cleaning out that stuff. This will help to prepare you for the journey. 2. Set a date to begin the process. This will motivate you to prepare even more. 3. Focus on all of one thing, rather than everything in the room. In other words, if you have a lot of magazines, along with other stuff, then focus on cleaning out just the magazines. 4. If there are family heirlooms and the like, then set s specific date in which your family members can come by and get what they want. 5. Schedule your second date. If you have done the prior four steps, then by now you will only have the stuff that is left over. Therefore, repeat steps 2 and 3. 6. Finally, have a Letting Go of Stuff® party. Invite your friends and family to come by on a specific day. Give them a chance to take what they want from the stuff that is left. The following tips are not the end all be all to letting go of your stuff. But at least they will get you on the path to getting rid of what you are keeping in that room. I wish you the best with your Letting Go of Stuff® journey. Darren L Johnson is a business coach and personal development expert. www.DarrenLJohnson.com

Dashboard Indicator Light Trivia

D

id you know that the dashboard lights on your car are color coded? Yep, just like traffic lights, the indicator lights have colored meanings. Red : DANGER : Stop the car now and turn it off. Have it towed in. DO NOT DRIVE! Yellow : CAUTION : Something that really should be looked at but it can wait until you schedule a visit to your mechanic. Green : GO : Normal operation and yet you need to know it is happening. Examples? OK sure. Red lights are low oil pressure, overheating, brakes and low electrical output. Any of these conditions are very dangerous for the health of your car and really should be avoided at all costs. Contrary to what I have heard some believe, the red oil light is NOT a change oil indicator. If the red oil light comes on, chances are the

engine is already damaged from lack of lubrication. If you stop the engine immediately it may be rescuable. If the red coolant or temperature light comes on it means that your engine’s operating temperature is too far above normal. Excessive engine heat can warp heads, crack blocks, and even be at risk of catching on fire. Again if the red temperature light comes on, stop the engine immediately. You could save the engine and thousands of dollars. If the red electrical light comes on it is not as critical as the previous lights but it does mean that there is a serious fault in the electrical system somewhere. The engine may be running fine right now but it won’t for long. Guaranteed. If you stop and get towed in you won’t stress the balance of the system and quite possible save a lot of money. The yellow lights are typically of the check engine or SES (Service Engine Soon) variety. Something has happened enough times or long enough that the car’s computer is saying you should have this checked out. Not an emergency like red lights but if ignored these problems can lead to much more extensive damage. On some modern cars there are upwards of 300 different things that can turn on a check engine or SES light. Really, it is pretty cool that you car monitors all this stuff so you can fix it cheap. Any gremlin left alone will just cost you more money later.

Green lights are usually turn signals or some other exterior light indicator. They are normal operation but it is nice to know that they are in use. Otherwise people may think you are going around the world to the left. The only exception to these rules is a flashing check engine light. If the check engine light is blinking or flashing, stop the car. Something has really gone wrong and continued operation is ill advised. So remember: Green = Go Yellow = Caution but not an emergency Red = Stop! You are currently broken and ignoring this will only do more harm.

f you’re on the verge of losing your home, or you know someone who is, then you also know about the long, bureaucratic process involved in applying for a loan modification from a lender. The most common approach is to apply under the new Home Affordability Mortgage Program (HAMP), but lenders also accept modifications from mortgage holders because lenders really don’t want to take the house – they just want their money. In many cases, however, the approval process takes longer than many homeowners can afford. But one expert believes it doesn’t have to be that way, and that there are solutions for homeowners whose applications seem stuck in the mud. “Applying for a loan modification can be an extremely stressful process,” said Stephfan Nurse, CEO of Consumer Education (www.consumereducationonline.com), makers of Mortgage Reduction software designed to help people through the modification process. “Even if you send in your documents and your lender tells you everything is okay, you may still have a great amount of anxiety because you have no idea what the lender is doing with your file. You may not know what the next step is and how long it takes to move through each step in the process. Your lender may tell you what the next step is, but you may not understand why it will take so long. There are reasons, however, why the process can get stuck, and there are ways to move that process along, if you understand what goes on behind the scenes.” Nurse’s tips for making the process smoother include: • Account Numbers – It often happens that when you fax your paperwork to your lender, the lender either says they lost your paperwork or they just didn’t receive it all. This isn’t because they are incompetent. It’s because they receive thousands of faxes each day, and they use an image scanning technology to capture them all and place them in the appropriate file. In that system, a cover sheet that has your account number on it will get placed correctly, but the following sheets that lack your account number can be easily misplaced. The solution is to put your account number on every

page of your paperwork, so they have a better chance of placing all your paperwork in your file. • Complete the Paperwork – When your file gets assigned to a document manager, typically about 30 days after you first applied for the modification, the document manager’s job is to check to make sure all your required documents are ready to be submitted to the negotiator/ specialist for review. If you have an incomplete file, even if you’re missing just one single required document, the document manager will note your account as having an incomplete file and move on to the next file to review. At this point, a generic letter is automatically mailed to your home requesting the additional information your file lacks. This letter can take up to two weeks to get to you, and then another two to four weeks before they look at your updated information. The key is to never send an incomplete package to your lender. It can lead to a delay or even a flat out denial. • Follow Up – Finally, follow up every week with your lender to make sure all the documents they have are up to date. Don’t worry about being a pest. After all, it’s your house on the line if things get stuck in neutral. If you do this consistently, you will avoid getting caught in the delay cycle. “The process is like any other, and it can be rife with mistakes and bureaucratic snafus,” Nurse added. “But if you take the steps to reduce the opportunities for error, your application can move through the process much faster and you’ll have a much better chance at being approved.”

About Stephfan Nurse Stephfan Nurse has been in the mortgage loan modification business since 2009. He worked for a law firm that specialized in foreclosure defense before he decided to open the doors of Consumer Education in 2010. The company’s Mortgage Reduction software uses the same algorithms as those used by lenders, so it is designed to help homeowners understand what it will take for them to be approved for a loan modification by their lenders or through HAMP.
