The appearance of this charming property, at the end of a pretty driveway, was an impressive start to our first visit. The level of privacy was a good surprise too. We were keen to see inside and weren’t disappointed” recall the owners.
The house is situated close to the motorway and airport making it perfect for work and leisure. There are good restaurants nearby and the property is close to some scenic walks. The village hall has a wide range of clubs and activities and it’s easy to take part in local events if you wish to do so. There is a shop in the village that sells good coffee and serves as a small bistro. The shop also has a butcher and sells everyday provisions. There is easy access to Worcester and Droitwich Spa for a bigger range of amenities.
“Our garden is very private with patios in different areas throughout the garden giving a choice of areas for relaxing and entertaining. One of the areas is a large dining area where at least 12 guests can be seated easily. We’ve hosted many family gatherings including our son’s wedding reception in a marquee in the bottom garden”.
The garden is also fully enclosed and well planted with flowers, lawns, vegetable and tree areas. There are also fruit trees such as apple and pear which provide plenty of produce.
“During the last eight years we have made significant changes to the property including remodelling the ground and first floor areas to create a larger kitchen and family room. This room is at the heart of our home and is clean, modern, and bright. It’s great for a family get together and we have enjoyed many whole family gatherings. We like to relax in the lounge in front of the fire. We have also built an impressive three bay oak framed garage with accommodation above, which can be used as an adaptable space, such as an office.”*

Gadds lies within the wonderful village of Hadley, strategically located between the historic Droitwich Spa town and Ombersley village. It is said that the Duke of Wellington was a regular visitor to Ombersley Court. The location to Droitwich gives convenient access to services and amenities including the leisure centre and train station. Ombersley village boasts Checketts delicatessen, gastro pubs, restaurants, Ombersley Endowed First School, golf club, tennis club and cricket club. There is also a modern doctor’s surgery. Droitwich Spa is 4.5 miles away and has enhanced amenities including a Waitrose store. It is a historic Roman town built on the legacy of the salt industry and identified in Victorian times with the “Salt King” John Corbett and his stately Chateau Impney.
The county town and cathedral city of Worcester, lying on the banks of the River Severn, is some 5.5 miles south providing for high street and boutique shopping, and characterised by one of England’s great cathedrals, its racecourse, county cricket ground and university. The M5 motorway (accessed via junction 5 of the M5 at Wychbold or junction 6 at north Worcester) provides for ready access to Birmingham (26 miles) and the surrounding industrial and commercial areas, as well as Birmingham International Airport (32 miles) and the M40. London (127 miles) is best accessed by the M40, via the M5/M42. The M5 south also provides for commuting to Cheltenham and its racecourse (31 miles), Gloucester and Bristol (69 miles). Worcestershire Parkway railway station, situated to the east of Worcester, off junction 7 of the M5, is only 11 miles from Hadley and is intended to increase the capacity to London as well as reduce journey times. This has a significant impact on Worcestershire’s accessibility to the capital and other regional centres. The National Railway Network may also be accessed at Droitwich Spa.
If education is a priority, then Worcestershire is blessed with an enviable mix of schooling at all levels, including a variety of independent establishments, allowing parents to select the right environment for their children’s needs. These include; Bromsgrove School (9.5 miles), Malvern College (16 miles), and both The Kings Schools and Royal Grammar School at Worcester, encompassing Kings Hawford and The Grange junior schools. Local preparatory schools also include Abberley Hall (11 miles) and Winterfold House at Chaddesley Corbett (11 miles).
For days out and recreation, Gadds is well placed for ready access to the north Cotswolds and Broadway (28 miles), as well as Stratford-upon-Avon (25 miles), Great Malvern (15 miles) and the Malvern Hills, and Ludlow (29 miles). The west coast of Wales at Aberdovey, is 99 miles and Abersoch is 138 miles.
