A covered porch provides access to the front door which leads into a spacious reception hall. There is access to the cloakroom / WC, storage cupboard and the staircase to the first floor. To the front of the property there is the kitchen dining room which is open plan and of good size. The kitchen area has plenty of storage space and worktop, there is also a large window above the sink and a door to the front providing immediate access to the driveway and on to the garage. The dining area has space for a generous table and has a large window, which is to the front aspect. Also, to the front, on the opposite side of the entrance hall is a good size room which can be used for a variety of uses such as an additional ground floor bedroom, a hobby room, a second sitting room or a large office.
As you walk through the hallway to the back of the property, you’re drawn to the windows as the view becomes more apparent. The sitting room has large picture windows on two walls which provide the most wonderful view. This is the perfect space to relax and enjoy the moor, from watching the bird life to the weather, there is always something to distract from the TV! The room also has a wood burner with tiled hearth. Next to the sitting room is the sunroom. As its name suggests, this is perfect for enjoying the views whilst reading a book or enjoying a coffee.
The current owner purchased Pitstone in 2004 and got to work putting his stamp on it, which included an indoor swimming pool and spa extension. Speaking to him, it is clear just how much love there is for the property. This is not a sale for any other reason than simply needing to downsize and be closer to family.
Martin talked about heading out for a morning run on the open moor and having lots of friends come to stay to enjoy the pool, the wonderful moorland air and the view which will undoubtedly make anyone feel a sense of calm.
The home is now ready for the next person to enhance it and make it their own, whether that be simple redecoration or a more involved re configuration to take advantage of the view even further, this is a wonderful opportunity.*

The main bedroom is also to the back of the property which also benefits from the view as well as an ensuite and built-in wardrobes. On the first floor there are two further double bedrooms, both of which have the views to enjoy. One of the rooms has a spacious ensuite bathroom room and the other has a walk-in wardrobe and a shower room next to it.
From the end of the reception hall there is access to an inner hall where you’ll find the large airing cupboard as well as a study/storage room. On from here are just a few steps which lead down into the pool complex. The space provides a changing room, WC, sauna, plant room (with washing machine and tumble dryer), built in spa, and of course a lovely pool. The space has windows all around it and a sliding door opens out onto the patio outside.
As you turn into the gravelled driveway, you’ll appreciate just how private the property is. Mature hedging and some wonderful established plants provide almost complete privacy from the lane. There is plenty of parking and a turning area. There is a double garage with two up and over doors. On the side of the garage there is a gardener’s loo and a shower, which could be perfect for washing muddy dogs after a walk on the moor!
The land is divided by a lovely beech hedge which works well to provide the property with a more formal garden, which wraps around the property. A gate gives access to the paddock.
The paddock gently slopes away from the property and to the far right corner there is a quality stable building, which has one box and an open store. There is also a natural spring in the corner, providing constant water. Close to the stable building there is a vehicular gate giving access out onto a side lane. This provides those who want to ride, easy access to Green Lane and on to open moorland.
This is a stunning location for those that love the great outdoors. To have all 368 square miles of Dartmoor National Park almost on your doorstep is really very special indeed. The beauty here is that you are still close to amenities. Just a mile away is the village of Ilsington, it is a lovely village with pub, village hall, playing field and with tennis and bowls and a really excellent community run shop.
In just a few minutes’ drive you can be down in Bovey Tracey where there are all the facilities and shops you could need. The location also boasts two very well-regarded pubs/restaurants. The Rock is a small establishment that has a wonderful reputation and has a great menu. Tinpickle & Rhum is part of the Moorland Hotel and again, does excellent food and is a nice spot to pop in for a drink. The Ilsington House Hotel is a wonderful place for dinner, the Spa there has also recently been upgraded significantly and is very popular. These are all just a short distance from Pitstone. Fancy a change from the moors on a hot day? The beaches at Teignmouth and Shaldon are just 30 minutes away and the South Hams around 45 minutes.
For those needing access to schools there are some excellent options. There is a primary school in Ilsington and one slight further near Liverton, called Blackpool primary. For secondary, there is easy access to Ashburton for South Dartmoor College. Stover School is around 15 minutes away and is a private school with an excellent reputation and caters for children from age 3 to 18
The location is very accessible but has a rural feel. Those needing to travel can be at Newton Abbot Train Station in around 25 minutes, where there are services to London Paddington in just 2.5 hours. Please get in touch if you would like to know more about this wonderful location.
