Cherry Hill Drive Barnt Green | Worcestershire

CHERRY HILL DRIVE This substantial property encapsulates all that is required in a home for a growing family. The generous accommodation, combined with its premier village location, makes for a truly desirable property. Sitting within a large plot (0.4 acre) the house has an open level garden, ideal for summer recreation, and a lovely outlook to the established tree lined drive which provides access.

The property sits within its own private grounds accessed via a private drive from Fiery Hill Road. The original house was constructed in 1952 by a well-regarded local builder to his own requirements. Hence there is a large and tall garage, unusually accessed from the rear elevation, which provides a generous space for storage or a hobby. Later improvements have given rise to three storey accommodation, with a substantive roof conversion, as well as ground floor extensions and a large conservatory.

On the ground floor the entrance porch to the main elevation gives access to the reception hall, off which may be found the lounge, snug, cloakroom and breakfast kitchen, which opens into the light and airy conservatory. There is also a utility room.

We all love the large kitchen/dining area where we can congregate as a family.

The master bedroom suite to the first floor has both an ensuite and study, which could just as easily be utilised as a dressing room. The first floor accommodation is complimented by three further bedrooms and a family bathroom. The accommodation benefits from gas central heating and double glazing. The top floor is accessed via the main staircase and the accommodation is focused on the large recreation room, off which may be accessed both bedroom five and a shower room. This is a very flexible space ideally suited to growing teenagers looking for reclusion.

Lying close to the heart of the North Worcestershire village of Barnt Green and only a few miles from the historic town of Bromsgrove and the new Longbridge town centre, this provides for a choice of both village and town amenities. There is also ready access to the motorway network, for easy travelling further afield.

BARNT GREEN This thriving settlement, established as a result of the coming of the railways during the reign of Queen Victoria, has evolved as a result of its wonderful setting in the hills of North Worcestershire and its proximity for easy commuting to the second city and a range of important commercial centres within central England. The village is now blessed with a full range of local amenities, including a bustling shopping area, destination pubs and sports and recreational facilities. Barnt Green gives its name to both a long established cricket club and sailing club. In addition to the “Cross-City” railway line (Redditch to Lichfield, via Birmingham Grand Central) and the Birmingham to Worcester line, the village is strategically positioned for ready access to the “Greater” Birmingham motorway network that embraces the M42, M5, M6 and M6 Toll. Junction 2 of the M42 and Junction 5 of the M5 are 2 miles away. This enables fast onward travel to London and the South East and Birmingham International Airport, now an internationally recognised hub for travel to most major European cities as well as Asia and North America. The re-developed Longbridge area, only a short drive away, provides for a high profile Marks & Spencer, further high street shopping and recreation facilities. All of which compliments existing destinations that include Bromsgrove, central Birmingham, Solihull (Touchwood Shopping Centre), Worcester and Cheltenham. If education is a priority the village has a sought after primary school, St Andrews Church of England, from where children can progress to secondary schooling within the Bromsgrove District. The ease of access to the railway network also makes Barnt Green village a popular family location for those seeking access to the independent schooling sector with children travelling daily to Worcester (King’s School, Royal Grammar School), Bromsgrove (Bromsgrove School) and Birmingham (The King Edward Schools). Barnt Green encapsulates an intoxicating mix of accessibility and lifestyle in a village that retains a timeless charm.

BROMSGROVE Located close to the junction of the M5 and M42 and only 14 miles from Birmingham with the Lickey, Clent and Waseley Hills on it’s doorstep, Bromsgrove is a thriving town with plenty to see and do. Formerly a centre for both the wool and nail making industries, it is now at the heart of a successful commercial and industrial area. As well as a bustling town centre with numerous shops and eateries, Bromsgrove boasts a rich architectural heritage which is evidenced by buildings like the Parish Church of St John, Grafton Manor and Perry Hall, former home of the famed poet A. E. Houseman, to whom a local trail and town centre statue are dedicated. The town gives its name to an ancient “Court Leet” and internationally recognised public school. Bromsgove is well served with a recently improved pedestrian high street, supermarkets, professional services, and a wide mix of eating establishments. Destination gastro pubs may be found on the outskirts of Bromsgrove and the town is well placed for country walks and rural recreation. Additionally, the Worcester and Birmingham canal runs close to Bromsgrove and it’s an ideal destination for numerous leisure activities. Winding through the countryside, the canal starts at the River Severn in Worcester and passes through Tardebigge locks, the longest flight of navigable locks in the country, with 30 locks climbing 217 feet (66m) before reaching Birmingham.

BIRMINGHAM Lying at the seat of England’s industrial and commercial heartland, the “Second City” is the very model of a beaming cosmopolitan global city that sets the standard for others to mirror. Increasingly recognised as an important cultural hub with the Birmingham Royal Ballet based in the city, along with Symphony Hall and a magnificent, striking new library. Birmingham also boasts some of the best shopping in Europe, with a superb recently opened John Lewis located above the stunning Grand Central Railway Station. Grand Central in turn adjoins the Bullring Shopping Centre which also includes a flagship Selfridges store. The exclusive Mailbox development is host to a range of designer stores including Armani and Harvey Nichols. Alongside outstanding museums and galleries you’ll find an increasing number of gastronomic restaurants, cool and/or secret cocktail bars and picturesque canals with waterside bars, restaurants, attractions and cruises. Thriving legacies of Birmingham’s industrial heritage include its Jewellery Quarter, Cadbury manufacturing plant and a former custard factory that’s been transformed into a cutting-edge creative hub. The international airport offers a convenient way to connect with the world, with flights to a plethora of European desinations, as well as Asia and North America. With construction on the High Speed Rail (HS2) line – connecting London with Birmingham in just 45 minutes by 2026 – set to boost employment and the economy, ‘Brum’, as it’s dubbed by locals, is buzzing.
