1.3 Critical Reflection Since the specialisation I am in, Urban Design, has just started the design studio two weeks before the hand in for this module, I have nothing to produce for this coursework. Therefore, I used one of the section drawing from my second-year degree project, the London Nursery and City farm. a At that time, I have only produced as a hand drew pencil drawing, without any retouch. By reviewing that, I realise that this is an opportunity to improve my representation skills. At first, I used photoshop to enhance the quality of the image by the use of colour and adding elements like people, trees, etc. It is an exciting process as these makes the drawing lively. After all, I bring the drawing to After Effects. It is an entirely new software to me. After an intense learning online for three days, I used AE to animate the moving elements, like the panels on the roof and rotating plant that enlighten the space. It is hard to show the sense of moving on a still drawing, but now, by turning it into the video, it brings the drawing to life by demonstrating the activities that happen in the space. I think this is a very useful experiment/improvement on representation skills.

2.1 3D Model
The 3D model I used for this coursework is a device i created for the masterplan I currently working on. It is named as The City Archive which is a moving device placed in Oxford that provides an alternate way for the public engaging with the Oxford’s unique and strong cultural atmosphere.

2.1 3D Model
This device includes book sharing, status printing and any kind of story that you might want to become a piece of memory in different form, from paper to digital. It is all up to you! It is a moving machine, not only within the city but also moving itself. This visual is to present the movement of the machine itself. 3D Rendering - The City Archive
2.1 3D Model
The third visual is to experiment the tecchnique of making night view which I have never done before. It has been an interesting process of understading very different visual quality from usual day view.

2.3 Critical Reflection It has been a interesting process doing this part of the coursework as these are all new to me. I used to present my idea through hand drawing and physical model making but not 3d modelling. Although it has been a tough time to learn new softwares including Premiere Pro and any kind of 3D animation tool. The practice I have relied most on the exising sketchup model and different rendering tool like vray, visualizer, etc. After looking at various online tutorial on basic rendering, I have started to test diffferent techniques to present my ideas. For example, the overlay of the movement of the machine itself has achieve my aim of showing the rotation of open and close. Moreover, ‘make the model move’ is a brand new idea to me in architectural study. It has been very common in terms of animation, but I thought I would never do such presentation in my career. Agter a lot of testing and testing with different animation tool, I end up using a sketchup plugin, Keyframe Animation, which is a very handy tool for basic transformation within a 3D model. This practice raised my interest in using animation as an advancedd tool to present my ideas. It is a very powerful way compare to the traditional visualisation image.

3.0 GROUP WORK Photoshop + AutoCAD + Illustrator
3.1 Task 1 : Looking at drawings Our group has agreed to start up a tumblr blog for us to gather our findings on different drawings that inspire us for the next task, the collage. https://www.tumblr.com/blog/group14
3.2 Task 2 : Collage The next task is to create a collage of different drawing the group has posted in the blog.
3.3 Task 3 : Drawing Processing the collage into AutoCAD to create this line drawings.
