The section is to study the idea of ‘plot’ in the London. As one of the morthological layers, ‘plot’ is defined as a single unit for a specific program. In relation to the project, it is essential to formulate a set of rules to define for each plot, especially the requirement in area. Metric Handbook and local examples are corresponding to formulate this research. As seen from the analysis, for different type of program in London, there’s a lot of variety in dimension. This provides a more local guidelines to progress the project.

To examine the new methodology to built on the River Thames, a new grid is generated by using the surrounding street pattern, featured buildings, visual corridor, window opening, etc, as a guidance to develop a new morphological layer, the ‘River Plot’ .

14

15

/ R I V E R

P L O T /

As a new layer to built in the city, follow with the river grid, a set of rules is created to detailed the design of different plots, including circulation, visual guidance, docking and outdoor seating.
