Quella dei Perri è una vera dinastia artigiana che trasmette da ben 4 generazioni l’esperienza dell’antica lavorazione di gioielli. Oggi il laboratorio orafo e gioielleria opera in Corigliano Rossano, dove il maestro orafo Antonio Perri e la figlia Anna continuano a tramandare l’arte orafa e a creare gioielli accostando storia e creatività contemporanea.

Nel 1896 Gennaro Perri fonda la prima fabbrica di oreficeria a Cirò. La vostra storia inizia così?

Sì , 4 generazioni di orafi e amanti del gioiello fatto a mano. Il mio bisnonno aprì la prima piccola fabbrica di oreficeria a Ciro, in Calabria. Mio nonno, trasferitosi per amore a Campana, in un piccolo paese alle falde della Sila, creava i gioielli della tradizione orafa calabrese, che si acquistavano solitamente per i matrimoni o per eventi importanti. Io, mio fratello Alberto e mio padre Antonio, Maestro orafo di grande esperienza e saggezza, portiamo avanti la stessa tradizione, sostenendo e promulgando l’artigianato orafo come patrimonio artistico calabrese.

Perri, is a true artisan dynasty that has transmitted, for four generations, the experience of the ancient jewelry. Today, the goldsmith and jewelry laboratories are located in Corigliano Rossano. Here, the master goldsmith Antonio Perri, and his daughter Anna continue to hand down the goldsmith’s art and create jewelry combining history and contemporary creativity.

In 1896, Gennaro Perri founded the first goldsmith’s factory in Cirò. Does your story begin like this, doesn’t it?

Yes, four generations of goldsmiths and lovers of handmade jewelry. My great-grandfather opened the first small goldsmith’s factory in Cirò, Calabria. My grandfather, who moved for love to Campana in a small village at the foot of the Sila, created the jewels representing the Calabrian goldsmith tradition, which were usually purchased for weddings or important events. Me, my brother Alberto and my father Antonio, master goldsmith of great experience and wisdom, are the ones carrying on that same tradition, supporting and promulgating the goldsmith craft as an artistic Calabria heritage.

Da cosa trae ispirazione la vostra tradizione orafa?

Dalla Magna Grecia. Ogni gioiello viene modellato prevalentemente a mano e decorato da una armonia di filigrane, spirali, foglie, petali, perline scaramazze infilate in un sottilissimo filo d’oro e cucite su di esso con grande pazienza e precisione proprio come un ricamo, rendendolo unico e irripetibile. Accanto alla lavorazione artigianale affianchiamo quella di ultima generazione. Mio fratello Alberto, architetto e abilissimo designer, è responsabile della progettazione e del disegno in 3D. Attraverso questa tecnica, la prototipazazione, realizziamo gioielli di design moderno e dalle forme più estrose.

Come parte la progettazione di un gioiello e cosa raccontano le vostre creazioni?

I gioielli prendono forma dalla nostra fantasia cercando sempre forme diverse e accostamenti di colori e di pietre. In genere ci lasciamo ispirare dalle forme armoniose del passato reinterpretandole secondo tendenze del momento Quando, invece, creiamo un gioiello su commissione lasciamo che sia il cliente stesso a raccontarci quello che desidera, i suoi gusti e le sue aspettative, cosi da creare un gioiello personalizzato.

La creazione di un gioiello nasce dalle pietre su cui si va a lavorare, o viceversa c’è un’idea di fondo che prescinde dalle pietre che verranno utilizzate?

Entrambe le cose. Spesso acquistiamo delle pietre perché attirati dalla loro forma o colore e su queste creiamo il gioiello esaltandone la bellezza e la particolarità. In altri casi invece nasce prima l’idea del gioiello e poi si cerca la pietra che più si adatta.

Quali sono i vostri progetti per il futuro?

Accanto al negozio fisico, dove i clienti possono visionare le nostre creazioni, stiamo perfezionando e ampliando il nostro negozio online.

What is that inspires your goldsmith tradition?

We take a lot from the Magna Grecia. Each jewel is mainly shaped by hand and decorated with a harmony of watermarks, spirals, leaves, petals, beads of the scaramazze type, threaded in a very thin gold thread and sewn on it with great patience and precision just like an embroidery, making it unique and unrepeatable. In addition to the craftsmanship, we support the latest generation. My brother Alberto, an architect and talented designer, is responsible for designing and drawing in 3D. Through this technique called prototyping, we create modern design jewelry of the most whimsical shapes.

How does the design of a jewel start, and what do your creations narrate?

The jewels take shape from our imagination, as we are always looking for different shapes and combinations of colors and stones. To the contrary, when we are asked to create a piece of jewelry on commission, we always let the customer tell us what they want, their tastes and expectations, we let them tell us what they want, so as to create a personalized jewel.

The process of creating a jewel begins from the stones you are going to shape, or, vice versa, there is an initial idea that doesn’t depend on the shape of the stones that will be used? Both of those things are correct. We often buy stones because we are attracted by their shape or color, and starting from this we create the jewel enhancing its beauty and uniqueness. In other cases, instead, the idea of the jewel comes first, and then you look for the stone that best fits.
