FIFTH GENERATION INTERNET Ramcharitmanas remarks: Maurya lands in trouble

Lucknow (PTI): An FIR was registered against Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya on Tuesday over his controversial remarks on ‘Ramcharitmanas’, police said. “A case has been registered against Swami Prasad Maurya at the Hazratganj police station for allegedly outraging religious feelings with his recent remarks on Ramcharitmanas,” police said. The FIR was registered following a complaint by a resident of Aishbagh in Bazar Khala area of UP.

The first information report (FIR) was lodged under various provisions and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Thiruvananthapuram: The controversial BBC documentary was screened across Kerala on Tuesday by various political organisations, as the BJP youth wing went up in arms protesting against the screening. Protest marches were taken out by Yuva Morcha to the Victoria College in Palakkad and Govt Law College in Ernakulam where SFI followed through with its announcement to screen the documentary.

Hyderabad: A section of students at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has screened the BBC documentary on PM Modi on its campus, prompting the University authorities to seek a report. The documentary, was screened on Sunday by a group of students under the banner “Fraternity Movement- HCU unit”, on the campus of the UoH, also known as Hyderabad Central University (HCU).

New Delhi (PTI): The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) could not elect a mayor as its proceedings were adjourned on Tuesday, a second instance of the new House convening for mayoral poll but not being able to complete the process, prompting a protest by Aam Aadmi Party councillors and MLAs.

There was an unusual security arrangement for the House proceeding with personnel deployed on the Civic Centre premises, and in the House as well.

However, there was a heated discussion between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members following which presiding officer Satya Sharma, a BJP councillor, adjourned the House without holding the poll.

New Delhi: Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on Tuesday asked the BJP to accept their defeat in the MCD polls and help ensure the smooth conduct of mayoral elections. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House was adjourned on Tuesday without electing a mayor and deputy mayor amid a ruckus by some councillors.

New Delhi: BJP MP Manoj Tiwari alleged the AAP was running away from the elections of mayor and deputy mayor despite having majority in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, as the House was adjourned amid a chaos on Tuesday. Tiwari alleged that the AAP leaders, including party councilors, misbehaved with BJP leaders.

Delhi: The Delhi High Court has prohibited the unauthorised recording, sharing, or dissemination of live-streamed proceedings or archival data of proceedings. The court notified the rules for live streaming and recording of court proceedings, and said, “To imbue greater transparency, inclusivity, and foster access to justice, it is expedient to set up infrastructure and framework to enable live streaming and recording of proceedings.” These rules were notified in the official gazette on January 13, 2023.

Delhi: A Mumbai special court has quashed a look out circular issued by CBI against the former chief financial officer of Nirav Modi’s Firestar International Ltd company which is accused in Rs 6,498 crore scam pulled off by the diamantaire at large, officials said on Tuesday. The court agreed with the submission of Ravi Shankar Gupta that he is highly qualified and is required to travel outside the country as he is the executive director of a multinational company. Gupta had said that he had appeared 31 times before the CCBI for questioning.
