Jaipur: The Public Health Engineering Department has issued notification of the policy made for drinking water connections in multi-storeyed buildings in all the urban areas of the state.

Public Health Engineering Minister Dr. Mahesh Joshi has appealed to the developers of multi-storey buildings and Resident Welfare Associations to apply for drinking water connection to the concerned Superintendent Engineer’s office as soon as possible so that drinking water can be available to the people living in multistorey buildings.

CRITERIA FOR HIGH RISE BUILDINGS nounced in the budget 2023-24 to provide drinking water connections to multi-storeyed buildings in urban areas through the schemes of PHED. Earlier, there was no clear policy regarding water connections in multi-storeyed buildings and the residents of these buildings were waiting for a long time for connections.

Buildings with height of more than 15-mtrs from plinth level will come under the category of multi-storey buildings. Domestic drinking water demand in multi-storey buildings will be calculated according to 5 persons per flat up to 1500 sq ft carpet area & 7 persons per flat with carpet area more than 1500 sq ft.

This policy will be applicable in all the urban areas of Rajasthan.

R.W.A. (Resident Welfare Association/Other Organization/Committee)/Developer will have to apply in the concerned Superintending Engineer’s office for connections.

Along with the application, an approved map will be required.
