Five truck drivers beaten up; four accused detained
Jaipur (PTI): Four persons have been detained after 5 truck drivers were allegedly beaten up by some people on the suspicion of smuggling cattle in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district, police said on Friday.

First India Bureau Churu: A 25-year-old woman and her daughter were drowned in a pond in Churu district on Friday, police said adding that the deceased has been identified as Sanju and her two-and-a-half year daughter Kumari Siya.
“The incident took place in Anand Singh Pura village of Tara Nagar Tehsil when the girl was playing near the pond & fell into it, following which, her mother too jumped into the water to save her daughter. But, both of them drowned,” police said. Their bodies were fished out of the water and sent to a hospital.

Kishangarh Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma said the incident occurred on Thursday night when the trucks were transporting cattle to Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Upon reaching Kishangarh, the trucks were stopped and the drivers were thrashed on suspicion of smuggling cattle. A team of police personnel rushed to the spot and intervened and dispersed the mob, Sharma said. Based on a complaint lodged by one of the drivers, the police registered a case and detained four persons, he said, adding the drivers received minor injuries and their condition was stated to be stable after treatment.
