High Court refuses to stay ‘Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai’ release

Jodhpur: The HC on Friday refused to put a stay on the release of actor Manoj Bajpayee’s latest film Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai, which is based on the biography of Asaram. Asaram is serving life imprisonment in Jodhpur’s Central Jail for sexually assaulting a minor girl student of his ashram. A petition was filed by petitioner Om Prakash seeking to stop the release of the film, stating that the film portrays Asaram in a negative light. In the hearing held in the High Court lodged by the complainant to the ACB, Banswara. ACB ASP Madhav Singh Sodha verified the complaint and caught the officer. Sodha said that a bribe amount of Rs 5000 was demanded from the complainant in lieu of releasing the second installment of the approved loan of Rs 30,000. The complainant had earlier given Rs 2000.

Rajasthan High Court has asked Raj Bhavan what action was taken on the complaint against the Vice Chancellor of Bikaner Technical University. While hearing the petition of Surendra Jakhar, the double bench of the High Court issued orders. The tenure of the Vice-Chancellor has been full of controversies. A case of embezzlement of Rs 15.35 lakh was also registered against the Vice-Chancellor.

Meanwhile, Dr Annapurna was caught red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 3000 in Chittorgarh on Friday. The accused, a gynecologist in govt hospital, had demanded the bribe in lieu of the operation of a pregnant woman.

Jaipur: The Home dept has expressed displeasure over the pending cases of prosecution approval and instructed various departments for disposal in one month. As many as 333 cases of prosecution approval are pending in 9 depts. Maximum 106 cases are in the UDH department, 96 in the Panchayati Raj department,34 in Revenue department, 25 in PWD, 19 in Transport department, 14 in Women and Child Development department and 13 in Mineral & Agriculture departments each.

Drug smuggler opens fire at cops in Karauli on May 23, the HC had reserved its decision. Justice PS Bhati said that at present notices have been issued to all the parties and their reply is awaited.

First India Bureau Karauli: Two policemen were injured in Aagri village of Karauli district on Friday after the police team tried to catch a drug smuggler. Police informed the Sadar Thana Police and DST team raided the Aagri village and tried to arrest the miscreant, who is accused of smuggling illegal narcotic drug smack. “As soon as the police reached, the miscreant attacked the cops and opened fire on them,” police said.

From Former chairperson of Alwar municipal council Bina Gupta got a major relief from the HC which quashed the order of her dismissal. The court also gave Bina Gupta a chance to be heard and allowed to pass the order again. A single-judge bench of Justice Mahendra Kumar Goyal gave an order on Bina Gupta’s petition. Bina Gupta was dismissed in the case of assault. The local selfgovt department had issued the orders after a judicial inquiry, which was challenged by Gupta in the HC.Advocate Vaibhav Bhargava appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
