CURFEW RELAXED IN PARTS OF MANIPUR

Violence-hit state limps back to normalcy

Imphal (ANI): Curfew has been relaxed in East and West Manipur from 5 am to 12 noon on May 26, according to a notification of the Manipur Government.

People can move out of their residences subject to the condition that they will not be allowed to gather for any purpose other than to purchase essential items. including medicines and food supplies, the notification read. “Total public curfew under Section 144 CrPC, prohibiting the movement of any person outside their respective residences imposed in Imphal East District vide this Office Order dated 3rd May, is hereby relaxed from 5 AM to 12 noon on 26th May, except for the areas for which the schedule is given below in order to facilitate the general public to purchase essential items including medicines and food supplies,” the government order stated.

SNOWFALL BLOCKS HEMKUND SAHIB ROUTE IN UTTARAKHAND; CHAMOLI POLICE SUSPENDS YATRA

Chamoli (ANI): The Yatra of Shri Hemkund Sahib, the Sikh shrine in Uttarakhand, was temporarily stopped on Friday due to snow lying on the Yatra route, Chamoli police in Uttarakhand said. In a tweet, Chamoli police cautioned devotees to stop at safe places in view of an alert of heavy rains on Friday. The trekking route to Hemkund Sahib is covered with snow, Chamoli police said.

Shimla: Light to moderate rain lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh on Friday as the local MET office issued a yellow’ alert for thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in 10 districts from May 27 to 30. The minimum and maximum temperatures were below normal. Kukumseri was coldest at 2.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday, while Una recorded a max temperature of 32.2 degrees Celsius.

Imphal (Agencies): Violating curfew, thousands of people attempted to assemble in front of the residence of Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Rajkumar Ranjan Singh in Imphal but the security forces prevented them from doing so, officials said on Friday. Police said that a mob, comprising men and women, demanding early solution of the ethnic conflict between Meitei and Kuki communities, tried to gather in front of the residence of Singh on Thursday night but police prevented them from doing so. The Minister of State, who earlier wrote to PM Modi on Friday left Imphal for New Delhi.

Chhattisgarh official drains out 21 Lakh litres of water from reservoir for lost phone, suspended

Raipur (Agencies): A selfie proved costly for a government official, who was suspended on Friday after it was revealed that nearly 21 lakh litres of water was drained from a reservoir next to a dam in Chhattisgarh over two days, starting Tuesday, in search of his lost phone. The Samsung phone, worth Rs 95,000, belonged to Rajesh Vishwas, a food inspector who is posted at Pakhanjur in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. The Kanker Collector Priyanka Shukla confirmed his suspension stating that He had no authority to drain the water.

AAP CHIEF ARVIND KEJRIWAL TO BOYCOTT NITI AAYOG MEETING

US Defence Secretary Austin to visit India

Washington (ANI): United States Defence Secretary Lloyd J Austin III will embark on a four-nation trip including India from next week, according to the official statement released by the US Department of Defence.
