Richmond Place Cherry Pie Food Drive

Richmond Place invited the neighborhood to donate non-perishable food items to benefit God’s Pantry Food Bank, which serves the surrounding area. When food donations were dropped at Richmond Place, they sent you home with a cherry pie.

We’ve spotted a few in the neighborhood. Freezing and thawing temperatures cause pavement to expand and break apart. Potholes increase due to extreme cold temperatures and the amount of precipitation. A cold mix is used to repair potholes during winter months. Once spring arrives the potholes are repaired with a hot asphalt mix. The hot mix assists with smoothing out rough spots on the asphalt. To report a pothole on a city-maintained street, contact LexCall at 311 or (859) 425-2255. To report a pothole on a state-maintained road, call (859) 246-2059 or (859) 246-2355. Liberty Road Update

Photos courtesy Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

The Liberty Road reconstruction project will complete the roadway improvements to modernize Liberty and Todds Road (KY 1927) in Fayette County. The purpose of the project is to increase roadway capacity and correct roadway deficiencies to better serve the numerous residential areas and travelers along the corridor. Following a period of public input in 2019, the project team has chosen a five-lane model for the proposed roadway to include a multi-use path and sidewalk, from Grafton’s Mill Lane to New Circle Road. A public presentation of the final design will be shared on the project website once KYTC has the final Right Of Way plans.

Fresh Baked

The Cookies are Coming!

T

he nation’s fastest-growing gourmet cookie delivery and takeout company is set to open its first Lexington location in Hamburg this spring. Crumbl Cookies opens in the neighborhood as a locally-owned cookie shop known best for its weekly rotating menu of massive fresh-baked cookies and its signature pink box. The cookie company was established in Utah in 2017, and since then has expanded to over 75 locations in 11 states nationwide. “It’s such a surreal feeling knowing I am bringing the world’s best gourmet cookie to our neighborhood,” says Hamburg resident Ameet Patel, co-owner of the Lexington franchise. “We strongly felt that in order to have the greatest impact in a large market like Lexington, it needed to be in such a diverse and thriving neighborhood and Hamburg fit the ticket.” Patel co-owns the forthcoming Hamburg location with Sagar Leva. Patel and Leva both manage hotel portfolios, but this is their first venture into the food realm. After visiting a Crumbl Cookies in another state, the two of them realized there was a niche to be filled in Lexington’s market, especially in the Hamburg area. “Hamburg is a very welcoming community and allows us to serve a broad range of consumers,” says Leva. “The area has been very receptive to us joining the neighborhood and so we are excited for the store to open and allow everyone to have the world’s best gourmet cookie.” “We’re excited to bring Crumbl to Lexington, and hope the local residents love these cookies as much as we do,” said Jason McGowan, Crumbl Co-founder & CEO.

C

rumbl Cookies offers an ever-changing menu of six cookie flavors. Standard favorites like warm milk chocolate chip and chilled sugar cookie are always available while the other four specialty flavors change weekly. Every Sunday, Crumbl Cookies announces on social media what four specialty cookie flavors—from a list of over 100—are available that week. All locations

offer the same flavors each week. The massive cookies are served either warm or chilled. Fun chilled flavors include a Sour Patch Kids cookie with lime frosting and raspberry filling, or a Chilled Coconut Lime sugar cookie topped with coconut lime frosting and a fresh lime wedge. Pro-tip? Squeeze the lime onto your cookie for even more flavor. As for a savory, less conventional option, there’s a Chilled Dill cookie with pickle juice extract and topped with crisp pickle slices. Warm cookie flavors feature classics like Oatmeal Chocolate Chip or Confetti Cake. Fun warm flavors include a warm sugar cookie with fluffy cotton candy frosting and cotton candy pops rocks; or a warm Cornbread Cookie topped with a honey butter glaze and a dollop of honey buttercream. Leva’s favorite flavor is Samoa, while Patel shares, “I love the Biscoff Lava Cookie. Perfect balance of crunch, softness, and the ooey gooey middle.” Crumbl also offers half pints of ice cream, called Crumbl Cream, in addition to milk and Crumbl water. The interior of every Crumbl store is open-concept, which allows customers to see staff members mix, bake, and prepare the cookies fresh in an open kitchen. “Having our customers see every cookie being made is one of the best experiences of our stores,” said Sawyer Hemsley, Crumbl Co-founder & COO. Don’t have time to visit the store? Crumbl Cookies offer local delivery along with in-store and curbside pick-up, all of which is easily accessible on their app or website. “Nothing beats biting into a warm, delicious cookie that has been delivered straight to your door. We’re really excited to bring this experience to Lexington.” Crumbl Cookies is located on Sir Barton and is expected to open in the spring. □

Spring Cleaning? Garage Solutions can help

H

ello friends and neighbors of Hamburg Journal. How would you like to transform your garage into a more attractive, organized, and functional space? There are many options available now to help with your unique needs. Most of us appreciate the garage for the space it provides for equipment and supplies, such as rakes, shovels, ladders, gardening tools, golf clubs, bikes, and balls. However, as time goes on, the garage may also become a place where we store additional items, such as bulky or offseason items, household supplies, or an extra refrigerator. Before you know it, there is not enough space to park the cars in your garage. When this begins to happen, many homeowners express their dissatisfaction with the appearance that their garage has taken, and the overabundance of items stored in their garage. When this begins to happen to your garage, it’s important for you to meet with an expert in garage organization who can discuss your specific needs and storage options. As part of the service, the garage solutions expert will measure the garage space available and design one or more layout options with the appropriate storage

solutions just for you. They will consult with you to make adjustments to the design, provide a quote, and schedule your specific installation. A popular first step in the garage transformation is the installation of the epoxychipped flooring to turn that dull, dirty garage floor into a more attractive, durable, beautiful, and easy-to-maintain floor. Additionally, customized cabinets are often added to organize items and keep them out of sight. Many homeowners also select from a variety of shelving systems and bars to store larger items as well as to hang and/or to layer a variety of items on the walls. For garages with high ceilings, overhead racks can store bulky or seldom-used items, including all those seasonal items and decorations, to finally get them off the garage floor. The most common reactions from homeowners afterwards, when they use Experts to help them organize their garage are: “Wow.” “This is so much better than we ever imagined!” “Now we can find things.” “The garage looks so neat.” “I enjoy walking through the garage now.” “We didn’t have much of a clutter problem, we just wanted to come home and pull into a beautiful, jaw-dropping garage instead of a dirty, drab, boring box.” So call your Garage Organization Expert today and let the expert help you Take Back Your Garage!
