Having completed my degree from the University of Reading in Summer 2021, I began working for Fisher German in the commercial team. Specifically, I am sat within the commercial agency division based out of the Birmingham office. Since joining the firm, I have been given the opportunity to gain extensive industry experience within the industrial and office markets. My day-to-day involvement includes inspections, marketing new property, undertaking viewings and providing professional advice to both landlord and tenants.

The support I have been provided by my line manager and the rest of the team has been exceptional. My own experience is just a reflection of how highly Fisher German value their graduates. By joining this forward-thinking, progressive firm, you too will be offered as much individual guidance as required to enable you succeed professionally.

In all aspects of working within the commercial sector, no two days are the same. For example, one day you’re working on a valuation report for a retail unit, the next you’re at an agents launch for a grade A office. From the outset you work on a broad range of property types and projects with professionals from varied backgrounds. Fisher German has a dedicated graduate team which supports graduates throughout the APC process from arranging training days to facilitating mock interviews. There are a number of opportunities for intercompany networking as well as external networking. For instance, we have recently visited Stowe School, which provided the graduates with an opportunity to meet one another and complete a range of workshops developing our skills across core sectors of the business.

Our commercial sector is expanding rapidly with over 120 colleagues working across the UK. We are looking to recruit the most innovative and personable graduates to join our business at this exciting time.

Our goal is to help everyone on our Graduate Programme develop the business skills, as well as the surveying skills they need to become successful business leaders, not just proficient professionals”

James Routledge, Head of Investment Team

Fisher German has a fast growing commercial team and now numbers 120 across the UK, with offices from Glasgow to Southampton. The firm is looking to expand this sector further and is looking to recruit the brightest and most ambitious graduates to assist in realising our ambitions.

We are different to the big multinational firms, as we are generally located on the edge of major conurbations looking inwards. We value accessibility to our clients and the assets upon which we advise. However, there is the same expertise, level of support and training you would expect from a major practice. Our client list may surprise you and includes many ‘blue chip’ property companies, asset managers and funds.

If you join Fisher German’s Commercial Sector, before long, you will have significant responsibility and exposure to a wide range of property types. This may be sooner than you would expect, however, if you have the ability, we will ensure that you work on projects to match your skills.

We are a friendly company and have a lot of firmwide social events, giving the opportunity to mix with other graduates across the firm. We also encourage our graduates to engage fully with the wider property community, including, for example, The Industrial Agents Society and The Investment Property Forum.
