FISHER’S MUSTS While it’s nearly impossible to choose a favorite anything on Nantucket, Team Fisher has curated some of our top activities, restaurants, beaches and more to ensure you make the most of our special island. There is something for everyone on Nantucket and there are even more island activities to discover on our blog: fishernantucket.com/blog.
Grab an early breakfast downtown. There are numerous restaurants on island with incredible breakfast options (and Sunday brunch). Some of Fisher’s downtown favorites include: • Black-Eyed Susan’s | 10 India St | Popular breakfast destination & BYOB. • Brant Point Grill | 50 Easton St | Upscale, hotel restaurant with harbor views. • Lemon Press | 41 Main St | Cafe with healthier food options, smoothies and cocktails. • The Counter on Main Street | 45 Main St | Retro soda fountain with classic eats. • The Proprietors | 9 India St | Locally sourced dishes and open for Sunday brunch only. If you need your morning pick-me-up, order a coffee or tea from a variety of local hot spots like, Handlebar Cafe, Corner Table or Roastd. Take it to go and walk the wharf downtown to check out the boats and yachts in the Harbor!
Early bird catches the...Bonito. Book an early morning fishing charter with Bill Fisher Outfitters and watch the sunrise over the water while reeling in your first catch of the day. What’s an afternoon on Nantucket without a trip
to the beach?
Whether you like to spend all day sunbathing with friends and family or just need a quick dip, you can’t go wrong at the beach. You’ll read more about all of the beaches Nantucket has to offer in the coming pages, but where you’re most likely to find a Team Fisher member is: Fisherman’s, Ladies, Miacomet or 40th Pole! >> Remember to purchase a Beach Vehicle Permit if you plan to bring your car on any of the drive-on beaches.
“I love fishing early in the morning. You start under a starlit sky and in August the boat’s wake will glow from the phosphorescence. It’s something special to watch the sunrise over the water with a fish on the other end of the line!” - Danno Lynch, Sales & Rental Agent
Before you spend the day in the sun you need to stock
up on beach supplies! Whether you call in a
to-go order or want to pack your car with snacks, some of our favorite pre-beach stops are: • FRESH | 5 Salem St | Made-to-order sandwiches, salads, smoothies, beer and wine. • Bartlett’s Farm | 33 Bartlett Farm Rd | Sandwiches, grab & go, snacks and fresh produce. • 167 Raw | 167 Hummock Pond Rd | Fish market, prepared dips, snacks and a food truck. • Meat & Fish Market | 21 Old South Rd | Gourmet market, sushi, sandwiches & Starbucks drinks. • Something Natural | 50 Cliff Rd | Beloved sandwich shop and bakery with homemade bread. If the weather isn’t ideal for a beach day, or you’d like to take in our rich island history, be sure to visit one of our incredible museums or historic sites. We suggest:
The Whaling Museum, the African Meeting House on York Street or touring the Oldest House on Sunset Hill.
We may not officially have “happy hour,” but that doesn’t mean you can’t make your own! Pick up wine and cheese from Épernay or Current Vintage and head to Steps Beach, or drive out to the West End and take in our unbelievable sunsets. If you want to stay in town, a few restaurants offer a bar menu between lunch and dinner, which is always a treat. We suggest a harborside glass of rosé and fresh oysters at CRU, a tropical beverage and raw bar at the Sandbar at
Jetties Beach, or if you’re craving a delicious adult dessert, stop by The Gazebo for their famous frozen mudslide.
Ready for dinner but didn’t make a reservation yet? Make sure to check with the restaurant beforehand but these are a few of our favorite walk-in dinner spots: • Millie’s | 326 Madaket Rd | Baja-style dishes and specialty cocktails with ocean views. • Lola Burger | 1 Sparks Ave | Fancier burgers, salads, milkshakes and full bar. • Lobster Trap | 23 Washington St | Casual, New England-style seafood & patio bar. • Island Kitchen | 1 Chins Way | Upscale American food with outdoor seating. • Or, The Whale | 38 Main St | Bistro, bar and patio with classic comfort dishes.
If you’re looking for fine dining, we highly suggest making a reservation in advance at any of these restaurants that you should absolutely not miss: • Ventuno | 21 Federal St | Elegant Italian eatery with fresh pasta, creative dishes and outdoor seating. • Straight Wharf | 6 Harbor Square | Beautiful dishes with a bar menu and a waterfront porch. • The Nautilus | 12 Cambridge St | Global-inspired dishes, small plates and inventive craft cocktails. • Galley Beach | 54 Jefferson Ave | Refined New American menu, with ocean views, beach bar and lounge. • Lola 41 | 15 South Beach St | Chic bistro with elevated dishes, sushi bar and gourmet burgers.
We hope you left room for dessert because Nantucket has some of the best ice cream on the East Coast. The lines can be long, but always worth it! You must experience the homemade ice cream at The Juice Bar on Broad Street downtown, or head to Straight Wharf and try a bubble cone from Jack & Charlie’s. Not downtown? No worries! Island Kitchen has delicious, creative flavors mid-island or enjoy a scoop after watching the sunset at Millie’s Market. *As Massachusetts continues to work toward the final phase, the “New Normal,” we are hopeful we will be able to visit our late-night favorites soon. Once we can...
Calling all night owls, if you’re not ready to turn in after dinner there’s always late-night happenings on island, especially live music. The Chicken Box is a live music institution and island “roadhouse” for over 50 years. Be sure to follow them (@theboxnantucket) and purchase concert tickets early! The Gaslight is another great live music venue downtown. After the last seating, the dining room is cleared and the show begins with local, regional and national bands.
After a dance party and last call, head over to “The Strip” by Steamship Authority for a late night snack. Stubby’s is a local favorite, open until 2am and has everything from breakfast sandwiches to fish tacos. If you’re craving Italian, Pizzeria Gemelle on East Chestnut Street has a late-night menu from 11:30pm & beyond with calzones, pizza and specialty sandwiches.

Insider Tips Don’t forget your transportation reservations! Since this is the busy season for the island, remember to book your ferry or airline tickets well in advance. The Steamship Authority begins taking reservations for the upcoming season in the beginning of January. Most airlines, local and national, begin reservation bookings in early Spring. Be sure to keep a lookout for those announcements and follow @fishernantucket to stay-up-to-date on these important dates and reminders. You may also opt in to our monthly newsletter to stay in the know on all island activities.
Need a babysitter or thinking of hosting a dinner party during your stay? There are multiple concierge and babysitting services on the island and Team Fisher is happy to help put you in touch with them. From grocery shopping to recreational planning, even in-home spa or chef services, we’ll direct you to the best team.
Restaurant reservations are another thing to keep top of mind before your stay. If you haven’t already booked a reservation, call us to find out which hot spots accept day-of reservations.
While Nantucket is THE place to be in the summer, you really can’t beat September and October. We strongly encourage everyone to consider booking a fall trip. The crowds are thinner, the beach and ocean are still warm and there are multiple weekend festivals and events. Most notably, the prices become more budget-friendly and many of the homes don’t require mandatory seven-day stays, perfect for a quick weekend getaway!

“I like to start my days in the State Forest, which has a network of trails that wind through the Nantucket Disc Golf Course. Accessed off either Lovers Lane or Fairgrounds Road, these trails are centrally located which makes it easy to get a quick hike in. For a more classic coastal feel, I head to the Umass Field Station at 180 Polpis Road. My favorite part of the property, though, are the trails that wind up and down small hills past a small pond and open up atop a cliff overlooking the whole harbor, with beautiful views of Pocomo.”
