Faye Manning EditorThe abundance and diversity of art available globally can be mesmerising and enjoyable in equal measure. Molasses House cuts through the clutter, presenting new contemporary artists alongside their more established counterparts.
Art is best appreciated when one has time to immerse yourself and absorb the imagery before you. At Molasses House this could be the soothing palate of a Hannah Nijsten, or the dystopian imagery of Tommy Fiendish. Whatever your contemporary art interests you will not be disappointed by the constantly changing gallery selection.
As the exclusive stockist for the UK, this month Molasses House will be hosting an exhibition by internationally renowned artist Christian Develter (see page 30).
At Molasses House you are always assured of a warm and knowledgeable welcome by phone, online, in the gallery or home viewing.

Westminster Security is a private security company headquartered in its namesake - Westminster, central London. They were established at the turn of the millennium after recognising a niche and under-catered sector within the private security industry. That was high-end security services for UHNW individuals, private households, company owners, and executives alike.
The private security sector was awash with ‘security companies’ providing basic and lowstandard security guarding services, many being rogue and unlicensed companies run by criminals and protection rackets. Thankfully, those days are long behind us now due in part to the regulation of the Industry by the Home Office and the creation of the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
These days, you will likely find more security companies trying to crack the lucrative ‘highend’ market with their service offerings, yet one name remains consistent at the pinnacle of their
trade and the chosen provider to many securityconscious individuals, families, and businesses. Having built an excellent reputation and enviable brand image through their high standards, exceptional attention to detail, and excellence. Westminster Security has established itself as the industry leader and the ‘go-to’ company for ‘luxury’ high-end security services.
Their services are based around their core service of close protection, what is that? We hear you say. Well, essentially, its bodyguards, but not as you might envisage them. When we think of bodyguards, we all naturally think of Hulk-like burly men or gun-toting Hollywood hearth-throbs. But the reality is very different.
John Moore, Managing Director of Westminster Security Ltd said “Close protection operatives (bodyguards) come in all shapes and sizes, non are armed in the UK, and female bodyguards are ever more popular with our clients”. John is a veteran of the British Army where he served in the Royal Military Police and specialised in close protection within the Close Protection Unit. So, we believe him.
Other services they provide in support of their close protection operations include highly trained security chauffeurs, residential security guards, surveillance, and VIP event security.

Who Would You Trust More - Your Family or the Local Authority?
If you choose your family, you must put your Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in place to give you peace of mind that you have taken care of the things that matter most to you.
This is a powerful legal document enabling you to appoint a trusted individual of your choice (an Attorney) to handle your affairs on your behalf, if you can’t look after yourself through mental or physical incapacity. Your LPA should reflect your
wishes and needs.
Remember! It is too late to set up your LPA once you have a medical condition as the result of a stroke, Alzheimer’s or dementia.
What are the two Different Parts?
A Property and Financial Affairs LPA allows you to give your Attorney the power to make decisions about any or all of your affairs.
A Health and Welfare LPA allows you to give your Attorney the power to make decisions about your health and personal welfare, should you no longer be able to do so.
You can decide to give your Attorney the power
“You can decide to give your Attorney the power to make decision about any of all of your health and welfare matters”
to make decision about any of all of your health and welfare matters, for example care issues, where you live and even to give or refuse consent to life sustaining treatment.
It ensures that someone you trust has the legal authority to sort out your everyday affairs. With no LPA in place, your wishes will be irrelevant and a Doctor or the Local Authority will make decisions on your behalf.
Bank accounts and investments could be frozen, along with standing orders or direct debits to pay bills in your name. Even having a joint bank account would not stop this from happening.
My children or friend normally use my PIN numbers to sign on my behalf?
This is illegal because of Data Protection. if you become mentally impaired, they could be charged with fraud.
Many people have concerns that their homes may be used to fund care costs in later life. A Protective Property Trust (PPT) can help you protect your home and ensure it is passed on to those you care about.
Most couples own their house jointly, meaning that it passes to their spouse on first death and their children or beneficiaries on second death. Severing the tenancy of the property means the couple instead own 50% each as ‘tenants in common’. The will is written ‘in trust’ so upon first death, instead of leaving the share of the

property to the surviving spouse, the assets are held in trust for the beneficiaries of the will. The surviving spouse has a ‘life interest’ or right of occupancy’ and can live for life, or substitute it for another one.
If either partner needs care in the future, they only have interest in half the home, so 50% is immediately protected.
The deceased’s share also cannot be used to fund care costs for the survivor. it is the most affordable was of helping you protect your home.
Should the survivor re-marry, the deceased’s share cannot pass to another family. It is protected for their chosen beneficiaries.
“You remain in control. You place your assets into the Trust and you are the main Trustee. You simply continue using your assets - home, money, investments - just as before”
Their bespoke alterations service offers you the freedom to restore or reimagine garments anew. Perhaps you wish to transform a wedding gown into a cocktail dress. Or maybe you’re adapting a classic suit for the new work-life balance. Whatever your garment or request, The Tailors at Harrods can help.
The fitters and tailors can fit and alter your garments in-store. For your safety, all garments are quarantined for 48 hours after the fitting has taken place and for 48 hours after the work is carried out.
How does it work?
If you require advice on the fit or finish of a garment while trying it on in-store, simply let a sales associate know. A fitter will be sent to you to record any necessary alterations and send the information to The Tailors at Harrods. Alternatively, you may book a fitting through any sales associate. Then, when your garment is ready, they will give you a call and let you know where you can collect your finished piece.
Their menswear and womenswear specialists will ensure your piece is always in the best hands, whether it’s a sharply tailored suit or an embellished dress. They can also make alterations
to kids wear and homewares, including bed linen. Their experts are trained in working with all materials and silhouettes, from fur and leather to heavily beaded gowns.
How long does it take?
The tailors work to complete alterations as quickly as possible. Depending on the work required, your pieces should be ready in less than 10 days. Need an item urgently? Simply request an express service, through which alterations can be set to a required deadline. They can also offer a same-day service to adjust trouser hems.
How much will my alterations cost?
As the tailors take a bespoke approach to each and every piece, they will talk you through the price of your alterations at your appointment. Prices are variable and are evaluated based on the requirements for each garment.
Breathe new life into your wardrobe with their new at-home service - offering everything from simple hem adjustments to larger alterations including full garment redesigns. Available within 2 miles of the Knightsbridge store.

Internationally acclaimed artist Christian Develter makes a post pandemic splash in the UK with the opening of his first solo exhibition at Molasses House this month.
Christian Develter, a “global nomad”, born in 1968 in Blankenberge, Belgium, has resided and worked in Asia since the mid-nineties and now calls Cambodia home with a purpose-built studio nestled amongst the serene paddy fields of Siem Reap, home of the iconic Angkor Wat temple.
Christian uses oils as an instrument to portray his rich experiences of people and cultures around the world. As a highly versatile artist whose work pushes boundaries, he believes that despite cultural differences and starkly different socio-realities, there are moments that can be appreciated by everyone.
Christian’s sense of beauty and the individual strength and spirit of his characters is developed through careful consideration of line, lighting, and geometry as well as his insightful awareness
of the power of colour to reveal beyond the surface of each character. At the heart of these works is a search not just for physical beauty but also for something of the spirit that embraces and motivates each one in our era of hyper celebrity. The uniqueness of Christian’s work lies in his radical choice for strong colours and mixture of oils and acrylics usually preferring to combine them with bold shapes. His works are deeply powerful and compelling in the way they capture light and space in translating Christian’s desire to create large iconic works.
The inspiration for this body of work comes from the intricately tattooed faces of the Chin women located in the North-Western region of Myanmar. In 2012, Develter travelled the region extensively and visited the remote tribes of the Chin region, in which this series is entitled. Each painting from this series is named
“The inspiration for this body of work comes from the intricately tattooed faces of the Chin women located in the North-Western region of Myanmar”
after a village or area within the Chin region. The concept behind the works being the modern Asian face of today, overlayed with the ribal tattoos - grounding us back to our cultural roots and heritage. This striking collection of work is an invitation to explore the artist’s contemporary narrative of evolving cultures through his district creative style.
The Chin tribe and their tattoos are relatively unknown to the outside world. These tribes in north-western Myanmar (Chin and Rakhine State) to this day use tattoo facial markings that is a centuries old tradition to distinguish one hill tribe from another along with their marital status and social ranking. Together with the Derung tribe in Southwest China’s Yunnan province, they are the only other tribe known to adhere to this traditional ancient practice. Both tribes are believed to be from the same Indo-Tibetan lineage.
Collaborating with cigar brand Siglo and Italian whiskey Samaroli, Christian draws upon his studies at Ghent Art School and Antwerp Fashion Academy, to create a joyful series of compositions, presenting a radiant kaleidoscope of shapes and forms. His choice of playful humour and bright colours recalls the artist’s view of popular fashions and trends. These are self evident in his most recent work, launched this month, building on the acclaimed Cigar Series which continues to evolve with global icons from film, fashion, literature and politics.
Develter’s world acclaimed works are housed in some of the most spectacular properties and art collections around the world including that of Royalty. The vibrant UK exhibition brings together a comprehensive collection and an immersive experience to view a curated vision of Christian’s internationally acclaimed signature works from his Original Oil Paintings and Limited Edition Lithograph Collections. Bold, vivid and iconic understate Develter’s work. A visual feast for the eyes and walls.

The London Classic Car Show is making a welcome return to prestigious Olympia in Kensington this month.
Entering its ninth year, the capital’s premier celebration of automotive culture and history will again be the must-attend season-opener to the year’s flourishing classic car scene for all classic car owners, collectors, experts and enthusiasts.
Olympia is steeped in motoring history having hosting blue-riband automotive shows for more than a century. The spectacular Grand Hall was home to the International Motor Exhibition from 1905 to 1936 and has accommodated a host of similarly distinguished car-themed events ever since… most recently The London Classic Car
Show in 2020.
With restrictions on indoor venues, the show was forced to innovate with an inspired move to a temporary new outdoor venue in Syon Park in June 2021… but now returns to its traditional February fixture under Olympia’s magnificent, Victorian, barrel-vaulted roof.
“We are thrilled to be bringing The London Classic Car Show back to Olympia,” confirmed Kate Woodley, Show Director at organiser Brand Events. “It’s a truly spectacular venue which provides us with the perfect backdrop for wonderful displays of iconic cars from throughout the ages. Olympia already feels like our spiritual home, and we have a truly great show planned for 2023.”
the evergreen Porsche 911, the second will put the spotlight on Barn-Finds and Survivors.
The former will feature an eye-catching collection of evolving 911s from the original aircooled Type 901 launched at the Frankfurt Show in 1963 right up to the latest Type 992 supercars.
The latter will provide a fascinating insight into the uncovering and restoration of recently discovered relics as well as offering visitors a trip down memory lane with a line-up of oncemainstream models that are now becoming muchmissed rarities.
A special display featuring three of the bespoke Mini Coopers presented to the Beatles in 1965 will be another major attraction. Sadly the car given to John Lennon hasn’t survived the test of time, but the Minis of Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr are being reunited for the first time in more than 50 years.
As ever, The London Classic Car Show will boast hundreds of the world’s finest cars from yesteryear as well as celebrity interviews on the main stage plus a host of other dazzling highlights. Two special displays have already been confirmed for February – the first will honour 60 years of
There will also be an auction organised by Historics with 100 highly sought-after classics going under the hammer giving both visitors and those online a great chance to join the classic car movement.
Offering exceptional value, adult admission in advance is priced at just £25. Full details of all ticket buying options – as well as the latest show news – can be found on the official theclassiccarshowuk.com website.
The London Classic Car Show was launched in 2014 at ExCel London and is now firmly established as the capital city’s premier showcase for discerning classic car owners, collectors, experts and enthusiasts. The annual event has quickly become an international celebration of the finest classic road and race cars across the UK and Europe, bringing together the very best dealers, manufacturers, restorers and car clubs.
For 2020 the Show moved to a new home at Olympia, a more central venue boasting significant automotive history… and then, to provide a Covid-compliant setting, The London Classic Car Show 2021 relocated to a new outdoor setting at historic Syon Park, in West London.
The 2023 Show will take place between 24-26 February and advance tickets start from £25 per adult, £20 per child (6-16). Entry for children under the age of six years is free. Premium tickets are available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting at £65 per adult, which include fast track entry and show guide. For more information visit: theclassiccarshowuk.com

St. Michael’s Manor hotel is located close to the city centre of St Albans, Hertfordshire, formerly the ancient city of Verulamium and near the famous Abbey Cathedral. Set in five acres of beautiful private English country gardens with its own one-acre piece of the lake, this country house hotel in St Albans is, surprisingly, only 20 minutes by train from London.
The original house dates back over 500 years and was converted into a hotel in the early 1960s. St. Michael’s Manor remains privately owned and managed, which gives the hotel its own unique flavour.
The 30 bedrooms are individually styled with a blend of classical and contemporary décor to create a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. This welcoming feel is continued through to the lounge, bar, function rooms and highlyacclaimed orangery-style Lake Restaurant. All public rooms, along with many of the bedrooms, have excellent views of the garden and lake.
Non-residents can also enjoy the restaurant, which offers a wide choice of dining options from full breakfast through to afternoon teas,
lunch, dinners, conferences & events and exclusives. All of these can be taken on the terrace, in the garden or lakeside. The restaurant offers a fine dining experience in a beautiful, relaxed setting.
Exciting times are ahead as the hotel welcomes a new management team all with hotel and fine dining experience of more than 25 years combined. They bring a wealth of knowledge, passion, and comradery.
Roberto, the new General Manager says “I am really pleased to be joining the St Michael’s Manor family. I have always had the passion and the energy to provide the best guest experience by improving standards and exploring new ways of working with the team to train and develop their talents. We are investing in our service and have a full 180 degrees on refurbishment, service, food and stay. I believe we have a team at St Michael’s Manor that will create great memories for every single guest. We put the customer at the centre of everything we do. THE FINEST SCHOOLS IN THE UK
Haberdashers’ Girls’ School and Haberdashers’ Boys’ School are two sibling schools that offer the best of a single-sex education in a unique, co-educational environment. The two single-sex schools share an idyllic, 100-acre campus and the same exciting, dynamic vision while still maintaining their own identities.
The ambition of Habs Girls and Habs Boys is what makes our future so exciting. We encourage curiosity within our community and display the courage needed to step outside comfort zones; this is seen in the variety of new collaborative ventures we are taking, such as our mixed Sixth Form classes, combined PSHCEE curriculum and joint co-curricular activities. We encourage all our students to make full use of the incredible campus, exploring their individual interests and passions, in and beyond the classroom.
The academic performances at both schools speak for themselves, however we know that great exam results alone will not prepare our students for what the future has to offer. Habs Girls and Habs Boys seek to equip our students with skills that will allow them to embrace and flourish in the world.
We are a diverse community with a strong global perspective. Our roots are firmly in our philanthropic founding principles and this guides
our deep sense of responsibility in the world. This environment, combined with our innovative teaching approach, prepares our students for a world that demands flexibility, creativity, resilience and critical thought; empowering our students to make a profound impact on society. habsgirls.org.uk habsboys.org.uk

Fantastic news for the pupils and staff at St Columba’s College in St Albans! The school has been rated ‘Excellent’ by the ISI.
In its latest Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report, St Columba’s College has been recognised as fully compliant and ‘Excellent’ in all areas. This judgement represents the highest possible outcome that any school can achieve.
Unlike OFSTED Inspection in maintained schools, ISI reports do not give an overall grading for a school. Instead, ISI make judgements on a four-point scale: Excellent, Good, Sound and Unsatisfactory.
The quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements is Excellent:
• Pupils have excellent attitudes towards their learning and their knowledge, understanding and skills are highly developed.
• Pupils throughout the school are highly effective communicators.
• Pupils are extremely reflective and have welldeveloped study skills.
• Pupils make effective use of information and communication technology (ICT) in most areas of the curriculum.

Are you looking for 11+ options for your 11+ boy or girl? Perhaps consider a ‘Stepping Stone’ school
Prep schools which have Years 7 and 8 provide unique educational opportunities for pupils leaving maintained or independent schools at 11+. These ‘Stepping Stone’ schools enable 11, 12 and 13 year olds to benefit from the best years at prep school, learning from broad and inspiring subject teachers to provide an excellent two-year stepping stone into 13+ independent senior schools.
At Prep schools like Edge Grove in Aldenham Village, pupils are welcomed in new smaller year groups with small class sizes and benefit from wellestablished educational programmes, which focus on the individual needs of 11+ boys and girls at a critical time of their educational, emotional and physical development and these can massively benefit pupils joining at Year 7.
In preparation for their transition to 13+ senior schools, they will receive more bespoke pastoral care in small classes, learning in ways which will boost their confidence and independence. Their teachers will most likely have senior school experience themselves and are adept at ensuring
that pupils experience a smooth academic, cocurricular and pastoral transition.
As well as outstanding academic preparation for senior school, pupils benefit from well-established co-curricular programmes, including playing for top sports teams, playing leading parts in plays and other music and drama groups, sports trips and tours. Leadership opportunities, opportunities to influence whole-school development, House, Sports, Music and Drama Captaincy and protection from senior school pastoral issues allow pupils to have a sense of belonging, pride and self-worth.
Prep schools are unique places that allow children to truly thrive. Through quality pastoral support and small form groups, prep schools can nurture educational independence and confidence, individuality and character. So if your child has missed out on a spot in schools such as Merchant Taylors’, Royal Masonic or Haberdashers’, it may pay dividends to consider the springboard of a prep school.

State ‘til 8
Some parents opt for ‘State ‘til 8’ transferring to the independent sector at the end of Year 2, a convenient entry point into Juniors. Whilst Year 3 entry at Aldwickbury is popular, family circumstances also dictate entry higher up the school, but where possible we do recommend boys join us in Pre-Prep or Juniors. After all a strong house is built on good foundations! These early years encourage independence, provide access to specialist secondary trained staff, help the boys grow in confidence and prepare them for their senior school of choice.
Is there a right age to send your child to an independent school?
In truth, there is no ‘right’ time. Finding the right school is a process of discovery and what age you send your child comes down to personal choice.
In the early years’ environment, children make huge gains socially and emotionally and crucially they learn ‘how to learn’. Building excellent learning habits, personalised pastoral care and experiencing a broad curriculum embeds solid foundations for future years.
At Aldwickbury, our Pre-Prep team strive to provide an environment where boys feel safe, happy, supported and secure. Smaller class sizes allow us to deliver a curriculum that is personalised to the needs of every boy. One of the benefits of Reception entry is that we are academically non-selective. Once a place in our Pre-Prep has been offered and accepted, you have secured your child’s education until age 13. Whilst we welcome applications throughout the school, these are then subject to an assessment that seek to find out more about a child, their values and wider interests.
Longer days allow for a greater variety of experiences and activities. At Aldwickbury we offer a wide-ranging co-curricular programme that makes full use of our grounds. The boys participate in an array of opportunities that seek to ignite their passion. In addition, our exciting Future Thinking Curriculum equips the boys with the skills for an ever-changing world. Decisions on where and when to send your child to school doesn’t need to be over-complicated. When you walk into the right school you’ll know. You simply need to find the best school for your child that will allow them to thrive. When a child is happy and confident it is easier for them to grow and learn!
Paul Symes, Headmaster – Aldwickbury School aldwickbury.org.uk“In the early years’ environment, children make huge gains socially and emotionally and crucially they learn ‘how to learn’”
As well as tending to an array of herbs, fruit and vegetables the whole year round, children of all ages are able to immerse themselves in a curriculum of eco-activities, including crafting with natural and recycled materials and creating habitats for wildlife, as well as impressive bug hotels for insect observations. The recent addition of a baby garden, complete with decking for the summer months and age-appropriate resources including a mud kitchen, help to take play to new levels and encourage a lasting love of the outdoors.
Hertford Barns also boasts a comprehensive school readiness programme. Covering topics ranging from self-care to phonics, pre-schoolers can practice fundamental skills such as using cutlery and writing and identifying their names.
Set against a backdrop of rolling fields where children point out hot air balloons overhead and wave to farmers passing by on their tractors, Hertford Barns Day Nursery provides the perfect space for children to thrive in countryside surroundings.
The nursery days are filled with exciting activities, planned around the personal interests of children and designed in line with Early Years Foundation Stage principles to ensure they are prepared with the knowledge and skills needed for their next steps. Inside the stunning barn conversion and historic stable block, spacious classrooms are home to stimulating learning spaces, state of the art ICT, toys and equipment, messy play stations, ‘role play’ areas and purposebuilt facilities including a children’s shaker style kitchen for cooking and baking activities.
Here pre-schoolers can design their own menus and showcase their culinary skills, all whilst learning basic mathematical concepts through weighing and measuring, as well as the importance of good nutrition to healthy lifestyles. From fresh fruit salads to healthy pitta pizzas, children beam with pride as they serve and enjoy their creations, which they make using produce they have grown themselves in the picturesque gardens outside.
Devoted practitioners are also keen to ensure families are supported in these key areas and provide bespoke resources, including a series of books published by Childbase Partnership professionals to offer expert guidance, as well as exclusive access to the ‘Childbase at Home’ website and app, filled with online books and masterclasses to ensure children are confident and independent learners, ready to embrace school life. Hertford Barns provides a fully-inclusive service and takes children from six weeks to five years. For more information, to arrange a visit or to register for a place please contact the nursery on 01707 392999 or email hertfordbarns.nursery@childbase.com

Making the move from Sixth Form to university can be a big step for pupils, but those who have boarded in the Sixth Form often comment that living away from home whilst at school helped to prepare them for a smoother transition.
As one former Bedford School pupil told us, “You can spot the guys who went to boarding school - they’re not fazed by the whole experience, they just hit the ground running”.
James Hodgson, a former boarder, boarding housemaster, father of boarders and now Head Master of Independent boarding and day school, Bedford School, is a real advocate of boarding, especially in the Sixth Form. He explained, “Our boarders feel they have had a ‘practice run’, a soft start where they are fully supported as they
gain the necessary skills for independent living. Boarding provides our boys with a strong work ethic and the ability to plan their time – skills that go a long way in the relatively unstructured world of university.”
The benefits extend beyond personal skills. Our boys have more time in the day for studying, enjoying sports and activities, and relaxing with their friends, and sleeping - all important for teenagers - simply by removing the school commute. Boys can enjoy all of these benefits whether they board termly, weekly or even just two or three days a week. Boys also enjoy an enhanced academic offer, with housemasters, tutors and specialist subject teachers available to them in the evenings to provide them with a wealth of professional guidance and advice on their studies - helping them gain places at the best UK and international universities. bedfordschool.org.uk

find a listening ear, or have a moment to reflect on any worries, concerns or big emotions. For younger year groups I work with teachers to create opportunities for students to improve their friendship skills, learn how to recognise and respond to tricky emotions and practise speaking out when feeling down.
Our older pupils enjoy mindful activities like yoga and meditation. They also work on one of the school’s golden values ‘resilience’ by trying out different wellbeing techniques such as positive affirmations and goal setting.
Children’s Mental Health Week (6-12 February) is also going to be celebrated at the School. Activities include a virtual visit from author Clare Luther who writes stories to help youngsters explore big emotions in everyday life.
Like many school first-aiders Cara O’Connell spends her day dishing out plasters, tending to bruised knees and taking temperatures. But health and wellbeing at Sarum Hall School means so much more than that. Last year the school won an independent school award for Healthy Eating and its commitment to overall health and wellbeing is clear. Headmistress Karen Coles explains: “without good physical and mental health, children cannot learn well. Our number one concern is whether our girls are happy.”
This is where Cara comes in. She is Health & Wellbeing Coordinator at the School, as well as being one of 3 trained mental health first responders, she supports the physical and mental wellbeing of the children at the school and works hard to ensure that they are equipped with the skills to take good care of themselves later in life too. ‘Happiness’ is part of the school motto, and outdoor learning, healthy eating and exercise are actively encouraged.
Cara says: “Children have many challenges to face, problems tend to be friendship troubles, anxiety, exam stress, self-esteem, confidence, transitioning into different year groups, and home life changes and concerns”.
Sarum Hall School holds regular staff meetings to ensure everyone is aware of any issues that students are facing, and also uses technology to spot behaviour patterns that might be a cause for concern. Children are encouraged to speak to any member of staff at the school, not just Cara. One of the initiatives the school has put in place are postal boxes where pupils have the opportunity to discreetly - and if they wish anonymously –send a message about an area of life they may be struggling with. This allows the school to respond promptly with support.
Cara continues: “We also aim to provide spaces outside of busy classrooms for pupils to
The school will also be undertaking the Taskmaster Education daily challenges. Taskmaster have partnered up with Place2be, the charity which aims to improve mental health in schools, and Alex Horne will set tasks each day for children to solve.
And there’s more, Cara says: At Sarum Hall School we love any opportunity to dress up so we are very excited to support Place2Be’s ‘Dress to Express’ day. We’ll also be organising some lunchtime sessions focussing on visualisation and relaxation.
When asked what advice she would extend to a parent concerned for their child’s mental health, she says: “Be curious and ask questions. We were all once a child trying to comprehend complex thoughts and feelings but we all grew up in slightly different worlds with differing challenges. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help from your child’s school or GP – the earlier a person can get help and support, then the better chances they will have to lead a happy and healthy life.
Cara doesn’t stop with the children at the School, she also makes sure that staff are supported too. She organises flu jabs, staff yoga and sends weekly emails with tips and ideas of ways to look after themselves. Her advice to teachers and parents alike is: “Make sure you are finding ways to support your own health. If you don’t have enough mental or physical fuel in the tank for yourself, it is incredibly hard to support others. sarumhallschool.co.uk
School life in post pandemic Britain has created a time for joy and celebration as students return to the life they craved while being isolated from their peers and teachers for so long. As schools return to doing what they do best – building character, providing rich opportunities to build cultural capital and supporting students to navigate their way through the somewhat undulated journey of the teenage years - the impacts of the days of social isolation and working from home behind a screen are evident, you just need to scratch the surface.
The effect of a disrupted education manifests itself in varying ways dependent on the individual. Some have heightened levels of anxiety, some find it challenging to be in school every day, some lack the writing stamina when approaching extended pieces, while others display a lack of resilience when faced with adversity. Of course, not all students have been negatively affected and large numbers of students continue to shine. However, it is undeniable that a greater number of students require support from the excellent pastoral
structures that exist within our schools, and with services under strain and thresholds for accessing support at an all-time high, the need for schools and families to work together to support our young people has never been greater.
As a parent myself, I acknowledge how difficult it is to watch your child struggle, but the key to their success is finding the right balance between protecting them and pushing them, albeit ever so slightly, out of their comfort zones. Enabling children to face a challenge and overcome it will give them a feeling of accomplishment like no other, thus building their confidence. While there is an increasing challenge on mental health services, there are still excellent charities and support services out there. Parental communication with the school is paramount. Speak to the Pastoral Team for advice about local services your child can access. Listen to the advice of the Pastoral Team as they work to build resilience and continue to highlight the need for determination when striving for success.

Merchant Taylors’ Prep School was created in 2015 as part of the alliance that was forged between Northwood Prep and Merchant Taylors’ School to provide a through school for boys aged 3 to 18. This has enabled us to continue to provide excellent education whilst developing our partnership with Merchant Taylors’ School. Our school is vibrant and dynamic and our pupils are educated by professional staff that provide a nurturing environment. We aim to instil values, such as compassion and respect, and learning dispositions, such as perseverance and independence, at the same time as ensuring the highest standards of academic achievements. We are proud that our school contains happy and confident pupils who are excited by the stimulating curriculum that we provide. Through these aims, we believe that education is about promoting intellectual curiosity in which pupils are motivated by and fully involved in their own learning. mtpn.org.uk
Lockers Park School celebrates its 150th anniversary next year and our archives are simply bulging with stories and fond memories of our long, proud history of boys’ only education. Founded in 1874, Lockers Park is one of the earliest purpose-built prep schools and has established itself as one of the top schools in the country. We send boys to a range of leading senior schools including Eton, Harrow, Winchester, Rugby and Haileybury. This is a tradition and honour we are proud to maintain.
We are an academically-focused prep school with a tailored approach to education that enables our boys to achieve superb outcomes alongside celebrating an enthusiasm for life. Being a school where classes are 16 or less, creates a thriving community where each member of staff knows each pupil and helps him to make the most of his full and active school life. This is a place where excellent results are achieved, abundant opportunities enjoyed and where pastoral care excellence, family spirit, camaraderie and kindness thrive.
For busy parents, we offer wraparound care that is second to none. Boys can arrive from 7.30am and stay until 7.30pm, receiving three high quality meals at school and enjoying the abundant range of teacher-run afterschool activities. Offering an optional Saturday School academic programme, for Years 3 to 8, gives pupils access to lessons that will stretch their interests, or allow them to build a greater understanding in areas where they may need more support.
This fully flexible offer is included within the school fees at no extra cost.
We believe that adopting a practical, hands-on approach to learning allows boys to be boys and helps increase concentration in the classroom. School days are deliberately longer than normal as this allows the pupils the time they need to recharge their batteries through well-considered breaks throughout the day. Sport for all and on a daily basis is a cornerstone of what is on offer, as is a wide range of academic subjects and cocurricular activities.
Boys study with us from Reception to Year 8 but carry the positive legacy of Lockers Park with them for life.

Art and other creative outlets so often showcase what matters to young people today. Expression through creativity can help students to highlight personal struggles or address topics they are passionate about. At my school, there are also many elements of pride in heritage and of identity that come through via creative works. A year on since Sarah Everard’s life was taken, and a few years since the murder of George Floyd, you can see an obvious knock-on impact of these incidents and other social movements in our schools today. Perhaps most significantly, pupil voice has got louder.
Schools are also listening much harder to pupils. The Everyone’s Invited movement tarnished many
school reputations across the country. It revealed some traumatic issues that schools hadn’t known about or identified before. Issues around feeling safe have had sharper focus too and schools have had to think this through carefully. In my school we have thought hard about this and have asked pupils to physically draw onto site maps to indicate where they feel safe and where they feel vulnerable, so that we can adapt our common spaces and our duty system.
As a school we have also ensured that all stakeholders have received diversity and inclusion training and we are looking hard at how we can ensure our staff and governors reflect our community. There is still some way to go of course. With many pupils running with societies that are important to them whether it is the LGBTQ+ group or a faith service of their choice, things have shifted irreversibly for the good in schools.
Listening to our young people is key and schools are continually having to find new ways of leaning into conversations and nurturing pupils to talk more but as ever, keeping up as parents is not easy. Strong pastoral settings in school are providing parents with help on how to navigate this period to best encourage, but also support their children. Thankfully schools are also thinking more about their position on these issues today and how they can help in a positive way rather than simply reacting.

• Then make 3 piles - keep, store, donate
• The “keep” pile is everything you love and wear
• The “store” pile is anything you own that is seasonal and can be put away so that it is not cluttering up your wardrobe space
• The “donate” pile is made up of those pieces that you no longer wear, no longer fits, doesn’t work for your lifestyle or has just had its day
When your wardrobe is full of clothes you no longer wear you can feel stressed. Clutter can affect our anxiety levels, sleep, our ability to focus and our mental well being. On a daily basis you are thinking you have nothing to wear, or it takes you an hour to get ready in the morning because you just don’t know how to put outfits together. Whatever the reason, wardrobe clutter can make you feel scattered, anxious, sad and a whole heap of other emotions.
Fortunately I have the solution to this problem. Do a wardrobe detox and learn to say goodbye to the pieces in your wardrobe that no longer make you happy. Your goal is to go through your entire wardrobe and get rid of everything that doesn’t reflect your style or that you haven’t worn in a long time. This way you let go of those pieces that don’t make you feel good and make way for the pieces that make you feel fabulous.
• Try everything on that you own so you know what fits you and fits into your lifestyle
• Hang all the pieces back in your wardrobe in categories so you can see what you have clearly
• Now you can see what you enjoy wearing and you can start building your style from these key pieces
A wardrobe detox is a friendly affordable service that will transform your wardrobe and give you the confidence to make the right style choices. Further information on all my styling services can be found edits-styling.com.

The first of the year’s London Fashion Week hits the capital this month. The world-famous London Fashion Week, presented by Clearpay, returns with catwalks, celebrities, glitz and glamour. It is one of the highest profile fashion events in the world – and one of the ‘big four’ international catwalk influencers alongside Paris, Milan and New York. It presents an unrivalled opportunity to showcase some of the world’s leading fashion talent and the best and brightest names in the industry.
While many of us are already planning our Spring wardrobe, designers at London Fashion Week will be showcasing their Autumn/ Winter 2023 Collections - both menswear and womenswear, as a hybrid digital and physical event.
It is a week where designers are free to create at will and experiment with new trends - whether colourful, crazy or controversial - the world is watching as fashion history is made.
A provisional schedule for London Fashion Week has been announced and so far, it sees the return of over 100 emerging and established
designers. Brands set to return include iconic British luxury brand Burberry, who will be presenting their first collection under the new creative direction of Daniel Lee. Also, DAVID KOMA, JW Anderson, Emilia Wickstead, Roksanda, Christopher Kane, Simone Rocha, Erdem, Julien Macdonald and Halpern.
The BFC has announced an exciting line-up of events and activations to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its internationally celebrated BFC NEWGEN initiative. BFC NEWGEN is the most established designer development scheme globally, set up by the BFC to enable a group of designers, including the late Lee Alexander McQueen, to showcase their collections at London Fashion Week in 1993. The year-long celebration will kick off at LFW February 2023 and will provide an opportunity for the creative community to come together to celebrate and acknowledge the scheme’s illustrious history and alumni, and London’s legacy in nurturing emerging talent and the next generation of visionary creatives.

Ski season is in full swing, and if you’ve got a snowy getaway on the horizon you’ll need a winter wardrobe to match. Whether you’re cruising the green runs in Courchevel, going off-piste in Zermatt or indulging in some après ski fun in Aspen, there’s something for everyone in this year’s skiwear collections.
Make like a Bond girl in head-to-toe white. From slim-fit thermal tops and salopettes to puffer jackets and ski suits – with matching accessories, of course – you’ll be the chicest ski bunny on the piste.
A major trend on the runways recently, Fair Isle prints lend themselves perfectly to ski style, particularly when it comes to cosy baselayer tops and leggings.
The opposite of subtle, logomania is all about repping your favourite brands – with monogram prints and logos aplenty. Wrap up in a puffer jacket from the trend-led Pretty Little Thing ski range, or grab a brightly coloured beanie from the logotastic collaboration between Michael Kors and Ellesse.
For the eco-conscious or occasional skier, renting your gear instead of buying is better for the environment – and can be much cheaper too. Specialist sites like EcoSki (ecoski.co.uk) and Snow Clothing Hire (snowclothinghire.co.uk) offer great value bundles and separates, while trendy fashion rental site HURR (hurrcollective.com) has recently added a ski section.
This season’s biggest boot trend – literally – will keep your feet well and truly warm when you’re stomping around in the snow. Choose from sporty, designer-inspired black padded boots or pretty pastel shades to match your all-white ensemble.
Swoosh down the pistes in style with these sporty essentials, says Katie Wright.
With a career spanning seven decades, multi-talented actor, activist, fitness guru and beauty brand ambassador Jane Fonda is showing no signs of slowing down as she celebrates her 85th birthday (December 21).
As famous for her movie roles and workout videos as she is for her commitment to battling the climate crisis, the octogenarian – who recently revealed she is cancer-free after undergoing a course of chemotherapy for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma – has brought us some truly iconic style moments throughout the years.
From Sixties siren to red carpet star, here are some of Jane Fonda’s most memorable fashion looks, both on and off screen…
The daughter of American actor Henry Fonda, Jane Seymour Fonda was born in New York in 1937. Following in her father’s footsteps, she began her acting career on Broadway before landing her first big screen roles. Fonda achieved sex symbol status with the release of 1968’s Barbarella, a sci-fi spoof where she donned a series of skimpy
The following year, Fonda picked up her first Academy Award nomination, recognised in the best actress category for her role in the critically acclaimed satire They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? Set during the Great Depression, the prophetic film centres around a dance marathon with couples competing for a cash prize. Fonda wore a Thirties-style red polka dot dress to play failed actor Gloria Beatty.
Teaming up with other entertainment icons, in 1980 Fonda starred alongside country music superstar Dolly Parton and acting great Lily Tomlin in smash hit 9 To 5. The comedy caper sees the working women taking on their sexist boss, with Fonda wearing many of the office
attire classics of the era, such as pussybow blouses and pencil skirts, topped off with oversized specs and voluminous hair.
After publishing a fitness book, in 1982 Jane Fonda’s Workout was released on VHS and sparked an exercise craze. Fans also flocked to buy outfits like the actor-turned-aerobics instructor, who favoured leg warmers and shiny leotards.
Embracing a more sleek, polished look in the Nineties, Fonda dazzled at the 1992 Primetime Emmys in a black sparkly sleeveless gown.
Dressed by Vera Wang – known for her bridalwear – at the 2000 Oscars, Fonda chose a cream satin corset gown teamed with fingerless opera gloves and a matching shawl. It was in her 60s that Fonda debuted the short, layered haircut for which she’s now famous.
Former model Fonda took to the catwalk aged 73 to close out the star-studded Fashion for Relief charity event in 2011, sashaying down the runway in a gold lace couture gown by Marchesa.
A vision in Versace at the 2013 Oscars, Fonda chose a bright yellow, long-sleeved gown with sharp shoulders and gold detailing at the waist, teamed with statement earrings and a gold clutch bag.
Showing off a more fashion-forward outfit at the 2016 Golden Globes, Fonda – who was nominated for best supporting actress for her role in Youth – looked incredible in a white Saint Laurent couture gown. The actor later revealed she chose the dress, with its voluminous ruffle detailing, to hide the bandages from her recent mastectomy.
Once you know your son or daughter is getting married a wedding is just the excuse you need for dressing up.

There are some furniture designs that seem to belong to both the past and the future, that wouldn’t look out of place in the home of your grandparent or grandchild, that give no clue to when they were designed by the way they look –are they a recent Barber and Osgerby triumph, or a classic Gio Ponti number?
Really, it’s thanks to the Modernist movement which began its climb to dominance in the early 1900s, properly getting going post World War II when contemporary designers turned their backs on the ornate classical furniture of their forbears, instead looking to tone things down and shake things up. As Le Corbusier put it; ‘A great epoch has begun. There exists a new spirit.’
Out went Art Deco, Neoclassical and Victorian styles – no more dark carved woods, gilded carpentry or rich patterns – and in came the shiny and new. Pared-back forms, a focus on function over style and visual lightness, all gloriously massproduced with gleaming new technologies, were

finally available and affordable(ish) to all.
Design icons rained down. Furniture took on sculptural, minimal forms as hallowed architects began producing smaller objects to fill their projects, and names such as Eames, Wegner, Castiglioni and Breuer were sanctified in the furniture hall of fame.
Jump forward to the present day, and the tubular steel is gleaming just as brightly as it did 70, 80, 90, 100 years ago, and those alluring curves look like they just fell out of the pages of a contemporary design magazine. Traversing the decades is no easy feat, yet several key 20th-century pieces of furniture have made the leap with ease, their utter minimalism protecting them from the ravages of time and blending them in so well with the present-day, it’s hard to tell what new and what’s a revered design icon.
We all know the bonafide classics – the Wishbone chairs, the Tulip tables, the Eames loungers – so let’s discover those (slightly) more under-the-radar pieces that have made it through the years thanks to their brilliantly time-proof aesthetic.
Designed by Hungarian modernist architect Marcel Breuer in 1925, it’s hard to believe the gleaming shapely form of the Wassily lounge chair, now produced by Knoll, is hovering around its hundredth birthday!
Designed between 1927-31 for Louis Poulsen, when the first prototype of the PH Septima light was presented at the Danish Museum of Decorative Art, the crowd broke into spontaneous applause.

A 1960s child in more ways than one, the Snoopy lamp by Italian architect and designer brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni was created in 1967, taking its shape from the loveable illustrative dog from the cartoon strip Peanuts which was at its peak at the time.
The Dali-esque La Chaise by lauded American industrial designers Charles & Ray Eames was inspired by the Floating Figure sculpture by French artist Gaston Lachaise. A conceptual, freeform design on which the user could either recline or sit up straight on, the daybed is an icon of organic design.

Indoor swimming pools are a luxurious and stylish addition to any home, offering a whole new place in your home or garden to relax, have fun and maximise your time.
The latest trends in indoor swimming pools are all about creating a unique and personalised space that reflects your style and preferences. Origin has been building award-winning swimming pools for over 40 years and know that no two projects are the same, every swimming pool designed and built is unique to the client. A lot of trends come and go over the years but there are always some that never seem to go out of style and the trends for 2023 are no exception. These trends can provide enough scope to help create beautiful and functional spaces and with so many to choose from, now is the perfect time to consider enhancing or adding an indoor swimming pool to your home.
Water features can add visual interest, help create a relaxing ambience, and provide therapeutic benefits. Even from a purely aesthetic point of view, water features are a simple yet guaranteed way to add style and individuality to any swimming pool. Water features can come in many shapes and forms; waterfalls, fountains, massage jets or spas and can be customised to fit any taste and budget. They can easily be controlled by a variety of methods and with the help of Origin’s experts, you can create an environment that provides a unique and personalised swimming experience, which is not only beautiful but functional too.
This is an increasingly popular trend in home swimming pool design. These pools are designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding outdoor environment, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of an indoor pool while still feeling connected to the outdoors. ‘Best of both worlds’ pools typically feature large windows or bi-folding doors that can be opened to their full extent, letting natural light and fresh air flood the pool house. This simple design allows you to bring the outside in and swim in the comfort of your own home while still enjoying the natural beauty of your surroundings.
Swim jets are a great way to maximise the functionality of an indoor swimming pool, particularly in smaller spaces. They can be installed in the pool and their powerful jets of water create a current for you to swim against, allowing for a
more intense workout and providing an innovative way to swim ‘virtual laps’ in a smaller space. The strength of the swim jets can also generate a massaging effect, adding to the relaxing sensation of being in the water, releasing endorphins and combating stress.
When it comes to indoor swimming pool design, muted colour palettes are taking over. The neutral or subdued shades help create a serene and peaceful atmosphere, making the pool area a relaxing and inviting space. The minimalistic, ‘scandi’ design choice is great for indoor swimming pools as it can be easily paired with contemporary or traditional style, and create a sophisticated and elegant look. Creating a cohesive design in any space can be tough, however, muted colours can be the perfect backdrop for a pool house, allowing the pool itself to be the focal point.
Do you have a favourite holiday destination? If neutral shades aren’t your style, perhaps you’d prefer to incorporate some exotic and holidayinspired elements into your indoor swimming pool design. Elements such as mosaics, lush greenery and natural stone can be used to create a fun and inviting atmosphere taking inspiration from all over the globe. Design components like lighting and water features can also showcase your exotic inspiration and lend themselves to the overall feel of your swimming pool design. Looking abroad for your design influence is a great way to create a unique and personalised swimming experience for the whole family and ensure you never have the holiday blues again.

It’s no surprise plants can cheer us up in the winter months.
New research by Dobbies Garden Centres (dobbies.com) has backed this up, finding 40% of those surveyed believe colourful houseplants make them feel happier.
But they don’t just lift your mood. The NASA Clean Air study found that many houseplants can clean the air of toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene, xylene and ammonia, says podcaster and garden expert Ellen Mary, who recently launched People Plants Wellbeing (peopleplantswellbeing.com), a new nature-based wellbeing consultancy.
“The more plants the merrier, as long as you have the time and space to care for them,” says Mary. “To clean the air you can have fewer plants if they have larger foliage, as they can be more efficient at reducing toxins.”
She continues: “Studies into the wellbeing benefits of houseplant ownership showed that even just being in the presence of indoor plants can improve wellbeing, so not just softening aesthetics but also feeling a connection to the natural world. For those working in rooms with plants, they performed better on cognitive tasks and lower levels of physiological stress.”
According to the RHS, studies indicate that indoor plants can lead to increased worker productivity and increased pain tolerance, for example, where plants were used in hospital settings.
“The spathiphyllum, or peace lily, is a great choice for beginner and seasoned plant parents alike, and will thrive in a bright spot out of direct sunlight. This striking plant should be watered weekly, or when its soil feels dry to the touch,” says Claire Bishop, head of houseplants at Dobbies Garden Centres (dobbies.com).
“If your plant isn’t flowering, water it, feed it and move it to a brighter spot for a beautiful addition to your home that will not only brighten up your interiors but also your mood.”
Mary recommends pothos, an easy-to-grow bushy specimen which thrives on low light and neglect, and purifies the air of toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene and carbon monoxide. It also helps to eliminate odours and is said to relieve tired screen eyes, she notes.
Hedera helix (English ivy) is also a good air purifier – it grows in partial shade and is a low-care plant, and its long vines make it great for shelves and mantelpieces.

(maidenhair fern), nephrolepis (sword fern) and phlebodium fern varieties are all typically low cost and will elevate any room in your home,” Bishop suggests.
“The Dypsis lutescens is another wonderful choice and comes in a variety of sizes, making it ideal for homes of all styles and will instantly improve any space.”
Bishop calls houseplants “great additions to your home office, to perk up your working environment and make you more productive.
“If caring for houseplants isn’t your forte but you still want to feel the benefits of them, consider a sansevieria (snake plant). These quirky plants can go without water for up to a month so require very little attention, making them perfect for those just starting their plant journey.”
“To promote wellness in your bathroom and give this space a zen look and feel, use houseplants to create a spa-like vibe,” says Bishop. “Ferns, with their air purifying qualities, thrive in a humid environment, making them ideal for your bathroom.
“Plant your ferns in soil with good drainage and keep them moist with weekly mistings. If your fern is looking dehydrated, you can plunge it into a sink or bucket of water to bring it back to life. Simply submerge your pot into the water and then remove it, letting it drain completely before placing it back into a bright spot.”
Mary recommends orchids for the bedroom, which hold symbolism of positive energy prosperity and growth and can improve sleep, promote relaxation and enhance feelings of calmness and peace, she says. They also don’t need much watering and can flower for long periods and reflower after resting. Another good choice for the bedroom is sansevieria, which thrives in low light, photosynthesizes even at night and is easy to grow, she recommends.
The money plant (Crassula ovata/Jade plant) exudes positive energy, says Mary, and is thought to bring good luck, growth, prosperity and wealth, while also releasing a lot of oxygen.

Data from Pinterest shows searches for the term ‘home spa bathroom’ are up 190% over the last two years.
Abbas Youssefi, Founder of Porcelain Superstore, said: “How homeowners perceive their bathroom has changed.

Olivia Crosher, Interior Designer at Naturewall introduces the emerging trends of 2023. This year is all about unique homes with personal touches, find your style and creative confidence!
Creating a unique home is all about mixing different styles and design periods.
Olivia’s top tip for a living room design is to mix old with new, take a vintage wooden chest as a side table, styled next to a large bouclé sofa and modern wall panelling.
Celebrate those period features in your property. Keep the original wood floors or heritage statement tiles. These are what make your home unique!
Earthy colours are here to stay in 2023, with golden hues and ocean blues set to be popular.
Both have very calming aspects to them, with a huge focus next year being on feel-good spaces.
Olivia suggests elevating your home with colourful furniture styled alongside wood panelling to compliment the look.
There will be a huge emphasis and shift to hand-
crafted furniture, textiles, and accessories. The 2023 wall covering trend is celebrating handmade, long-lasting, hand-woven fabrics as well as painted prints and bespoke textiles.
2023 is the year to slightly move away from a completely minimalist style, introduce personal touches to elevate the tone and feel of your space. naturewall.com

FOR SALE: £760,000 Freehold
Three Bedroom Townhouse in Private Gated Mews in Popular Balls Park Estate near Hertford.
TO LET: £5,000pcm
Four Bedroom Family Home located within the prestigious Goldings Estate.
Settled in the open countryside in Buckinghamshire this house is nestled in a secluded rural location, reflecting its surroundings of mature woodland. The setting and elegant simplicity were paramount to the design of this house.
The brief was to provide a dwelling which responds to its context in materiality. A simple palette of carefully selected materials includes the use of stone from the earth on the lower level and timber on the floating box of the upper level, enhanced by a green tinted series of panels to provide transparency and reflect the surrounding plot-scape.
With clean geometric lines, the floating first floor cantilevers and balances on the ground floor, providing long reaching views from the master bedroom and several short distance views of the plot from the other bedrooms. This architectural element pulls you into the site and allows you to marvel at its geometry and weightlessness.
The lower floor is grounded by the strong stone element; the roofing detail of the first floor floats, gliding with the frameless glazing.
Approaching the house, the glass enhances the large open spaces. The open plan ground floor connects from the front entrance area through to the rear garden and a horizontal expanse of glazing connects the rear living spaces to the garden-scape to the rear.
Vertical electronically controlled louvres to the windows provide solar shading and privacy shading
to the bedrooms. Wooden sliding door panels, some recessed and hidden in the walls allow for areas to be discretely closed off. The house is fully equipped with a home cinema room and an outdoor amphitheatre. A sunroom in the garden provides an area for outdoor living where you can sit outside in a sheltered area at different times of the day and enjoy the views of the house and the landscaped garden.
This project is energy efficient and environmentally friendly with ground source heat pumps providing the heating and hot water. To further reduce the carbon footprint, the house is also equipped with solar panels and low energy lighting.
This dwelling was designed to create an elegant, contemporary family home with an open plan layout that is an environmentally sustainable, contextually relevant and timeless concept. tyearchitects.com
