THE WONDERFUL JAMES OF ST ALBANS

J

ames of St Albans is a small family business on the historic and beautiful George Street. Established over sixty years ago by Lionel James and is carried on today by his son Steve (pictured) and daughter Wendy. In the mid 1950’s, when St Albans was a major antique centre, James of St Albans focused on selling period antique furniture, porcelain, artwork and metalware. The business is now sadly extremely rare. James of St Albans has weathered many changes and fashion trends and today sells a mixture of antique and collectable items alongside decorative retail goods. The stock is wide and varied with an opportunity to pick up a bargain piece, especially with Christmas approaching. Charlie Bears are ten years old on November the 14th and to celebrate this charming plush range they have surprise birthday boxes arriving soon. Priced at £45 each they contain a mystery bear and Charlie Bear merchandise. Also available are delightful mohair bears by Steiff , Herman and Grisly, all at reduced prices which would make excellent gifts for bear lovers this Christmas. Please pay a visit on your next trip to St Albans. The stock is vast and varied, and includes antiquarian maps and prints, Wedgewood pieces, Poole pottery, Anita Harris pottery, Winstanley cats, pewter hollow ware and candlesticks as well as hand painted miniatures, realistic Hansa plush animals, tapestry hangings and cushions, beautiful Tiffany style lamps, smaller furniture items (both antique and refurbished) and much, much more. James of St Albans also offer the unique service of table lining, which is the laying down, tooling and gold embossing of leather tops for tables, desks, lap boxes and the like. Royal Treatment at the Royal

T

he Royal Lancaster Hotel, London – where you can expect nothing less than the “Royal” treatment. Exuding luxury and elegance, this 5-Star accommodation is the must-stay place when visiting the capital. Our personal experience began as soon as we crossed the threshold of the main lobby, where immediately we were attended by the hotel’s porters. Surrounded by beautiful artwork and a stylish décor, it’s difficult not to be impressed. As it was the lead up to Christmas, we were lucky enough to see the hotel in all of its festive glory, and their Christmas tree was nothing short of magical. The staff were extremely efficient in dealing with any requests, friendly and knowledgeable giving us all the relevant information about the hotel’s facilities as well as the local area. The location is fantastic as it sits opposite Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens whilst being only a short walk away from Oxford Street: what more could you want? Upon entering our room on the 17th floor, my breath was instantly taken away by the beauty of the view. Hyde Park and the now famous “Winter Wonderland” sat directly in front of us, and in the distance the skyscrapers of the City. The window covered most of one side of the room, so it was

30 JANUARY 2020

difficult not to get lost in the view (which I may have done a few too many times during my stay). The room itself felt nothing short of luxurious and offered complimentary dressing gowns and slippers, high-quality beauty products in the bathrooms as well as a fully-stocked mini bar: coupled with the view, you would be forgiven for not wanting to leave. The weekend was a celebration for my and my Husband’s wedding anniversary, and this was not ignored by the staff. They truly went above and beyond to ensure that our visit was extra special with rose petals on the bed, balloons, a bottle of bubbles and a delicious chocolate cake upon arrival. Those personal touches really make a difference. Breakfast at The Royal Lancaster offers you a choice of a Full English as well as a continental. It must be said, the variety in their continental breakfast was excellent with an array of fresh fruit available along with your choice of eggs, pancakes and much more. Once again, the staff were fantastic and we were able to enjoy our breakfast with another stunning view. The Hotel itself has two restaurants on site – one offering beautiful Thai cuisine, the other a meatlovers Grill. The Island Grill allows you to have a private dining experience in an elegant setting. Their dinner pianist meant we could enjoy some music and romance as we ate. We opted for their Scotch Egg and Black pudding dish as well as their beetroot and goats cheese salad for starters. This was

THE DETAILS The Royal Lancaster Lancaster Terrance London W2 2TY followed by steak (well, it was a grill. It seemed the only choice!) accompanied by triple-cooked chips and a peppercorn sauce. Our meal was finished off with a hot chocolate souffle and a traditional apple crumble. Every mouthful was full of flavor and the steaks were perfectly cooked – everything was honestly to die for! Our food was complemented by a rich, full bodied Malbec (recommended by our waiter) which we enjoyed at our own leisure, without feeling rushed by the staff who could not have been more attentive. The Island Grill really was the ultimate dining experience. After a night in the restaurant, and as it was our last morning at the Royal Lancaster, we decided to treat ourselves to breakfast in bed. Although it was brought to your room, the high standard remained with all food served hot and in a timely fashion. It really was the perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday morning – plus it meant more time with my Hyde

Park view. This is simply a snapshot of our experience at the Royal Lancaster but ultimately, although it is clearly 5* standard through and through, the personal touches and professional attitudes from the staff exceeded my expectations completely and set this hotel apart from all others that I have stayed in – we will definitely be back. If you are looking for the 5* experience in London, then the Royal Lancaster should be your first port of call.

The inaugural Connect Fair was deemed a success and declared ‘the friendliest fair in London’ by visitors and dealers alike. As a result most dealers who exhibited at the first Fair have signed up for this one with some new additions as well as some smaller stands especially tailored to the ‘Up and Coming’ new young dealers to give the next generation a helping hand! The Fair will provide a rare chance to buy from well-established London dealer Elizabeth HarveyLee. Elizabeth will bring etchings and engravings covering a huge range from works by Albrecht Dürer (1471 -1528) to modern artists. An original etching by Canaletto will be for sale for £3,000, while an original aquatint by Terry Frost R.A. will be available for £1,000. Sarah Colegrave and Kaye Michie are joining Connect this year with their turn-of-the-century watercolours and drawings. Panter & Hall will be showing works by some of their best contemporary artists, including Ian Houston, who is one of the great surviving twentieth century landscape painters. Well-being:

is boarding the answer? J

o Cameron, principal of Queenswood School in Hertfordshire, argues that boarding schools are particularly well placed to help teenagers maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Q: How can boarding schools help young people to stay healthy? A: There is a direct correlation between lack of physical activity, poorer mental health and lower aspirations among teenagers, and one recent study suggests that by the age of 14, girls are twice as likely as boys to drop sport altogether. But at boarding school pupils continue to enjoy being active throughout their education, with a hugely positive impact on their self-esteem as well as their academic results. And the range of co-curricular opportunities on offer at boarding schools, which are sadly under threat in many state schools, helps pupils to broaden their horizons and to relieve some of the pressure of exams. Q: Can boarding really help to reduce stress? A: Increasingly, boarding schools are taking a flexible approach to suit the needs of modern working families. Pupils can choose to board for 52 JANUARY 2020

just a few nights a week, allowing them to take part in those vital co-curricular activities well into the evening, and easing the stressful burden of the daily school run for parents. Q: Is technology a threat to well-being? A: Young people face unprecedented pressures from social media, and schools have an important part to play in helping children develop a healthy relationship with technology. Here at Queenswood, mobile phones are allowed at certain times of the school day, but we have introduced initiatives for boarders such as ‘No Tech Tuesdays’, and the girls have really embraced the challenge!

Q: How do boarders develop social skills? A: Boarding teaches pupils to be self-reliant, independent and responsible, and to mix with people from all over the world. At the same time, the level of pastoral care is exceptionally high. At Queenswood, for example, there are so many adults on hand to help girls negotiate those challenging teenage years – Houseparents, heads of House and heads of year, nurses, a residential school counselor, the school Chaplain. There is always someone to turn to. www.queenswood.org

EDUC ATION

How key is confidence in education? At VAKS we regularly observe the huge changes in the way in which children communicate and the affect this has on their learning.

D

ue to the unavoidable but sometimes necessary use of handheld devices and online platforms in their everyday life, children are struggling to develop their ability to express and verbalise thoughts and ideas. A new generation of children are learning to communicate with each other in a different way. Parents and children alike are struggling to understand this. VAKS are different to other tuition providers, by creating a learning environment completely free of screens and technology, our approach is back to basics with focused, traditional teaching methods, delivering consistently amazing results. With all students being placed in a group with children of a similar age and ability, we make sure confidence boosting techniques are integrated into every session. At VAKS all students are encouraged to interact to develop their language and communication skills to enhance the topics being taught. By adopting a face to face approach in our sessions, VAKS are continuously helping to build each child’s ability to communicate and share, with one of the main focuses at VAKS being on building children’s confidence. This means students challenge each other to step out of their comfort zone by answering questions and pushing out ideas, experimenting with language and communication which they may not necessarily do in the classroom. Language development is key to educational success. From Reception to year 6 SATS and through to GCSEs, VAKS programmes run alongside the National Curriculum. VAKS have been established as leading tuition specialists in English, maths and science across Hertfordshire and North London for a number of years, with our passion for building a learning environment where children of all ages and abilities can grow into confident and positive learners through the interactive and immersive sessions that we teach. At VAKS we believe that it is essential to create a positive environment where children feel excited and enthusiastic about learning. With each child being given a free educational evaluation before they join us, we are able to highlight any areas where they require further improvement in order to fill gaps and boost their academic success within a subject. If you would like for us to evaluate your child’s academic ability or to get some more information, give VAKS a call on 0800 404 8172 or email team@vaks.co.uk

A NEW YOU 2020 will prove to be an exciting year for our patients with our revolutionary Riverbanks Infinite Face Lift now added to our aesthetic toolkit. Come and visit our expert team of aesthetic doctors who will be able to guide you through all your options to help you look and feel your best.

Heavy Brows & Frown lines Botulinum Toxin (Botox) together with expert placement of dermal fillers such as Restylane or Ellansé can elevate the brow providing a natural rested look. Botox lasts about 3-4 months whereas dermal fillers last about 9-12 months. Ellansé can last 2 years. It is also possible to create some lift with Ultherapy which uses ultrasound to heat and tighten the underlying brow tissue. Ultherapy uses no needles and nothing is injected. Results can last up to a year.

Facial Sagging If your face has started to deflate due to weight loss either caused by age, stress, diet or exercise then advanced use of dermal fillers may be helpful to restore that lost volume. We can use temporary fillers such as Restylane which last about 12-18 months, or collagen stimulating fillers such as Ellansé or Sculptra which can last up to 3 years. It is imperative to identify that there has been some volume loss and not just inject fillers to create a pseudo-lift as so many lesser experienced injectors are taught these days. To minimise the risk of bruising and complications, cannulae (blunt ended needles) are used because they are less likely to accidentally puncture blood vessels. Needless to say, detailed knowledge of the facial anatomy is essential which takes years of study. Tear troughs, hollow temples, hollow cheeks and nose to mouth lines generally need to be considered at the same time in order to create a natural and balanced and fresher appearance, rather than treating single areas which often produces the “done” look!

Acne Scars and Tired Skin The gold standard for treating such treatments has been fractional laser skin resurfacing using the carbon dioxide laser e.g. CO2RE laser. This heats the tissue in a pattern similar to the perforations of a tea bag which allows the skin to heal within 5-7 days. Usually 1-3 treatments are required to obtain best results. If this treatment sounds too strong for you and time is precious, then consider the hottest treatment in aesthetics right now called Profhilo, which essential reactivates your stem cells to start producing new skin, fat and muscle cells in your face, neck and décolleté. The 1st Real Face Lift Without Surgery If a surgical facelift is not for you, then the Riverbanks Infinite Face Lift maybe. By precise placement of permanent lifting sutures into the sagging fat pads and securing them high on your head, you can say good bye to sagging cheeks and jowls for several years. The technique is performed with local anaesthetic and you can drive home. Our new technique has recently won awards in Monaco in October 2019. This treatment is not to be confused with absorbable threadlifts which don’t generally last more than 12-18 months at best. Our Infinite facelift is destined to be our hottest treatment in 2020 with many of our injectable patients wanting a more permanent solution.

Love Handles - AAARGHH!

Dandelions on your lawn. Gremlins. Those are both things that are notoriously hard to get rid of. But not quite as hard, I think, as getting rid of love handles…

I

f you’ve tried losing weight, it’s quite likely that you’ve slimmed down all over – but those bulges around your gut are still there, spilling over the tops of your jeans and making it hard to wear fitted clothes. It’s similarly possible to whittle away every ounce of spare body fat through exercise – and yet still keep your love handles. They are usually the last thing to go, and for many people, never go at all.

Why ARE they so incredibly difficult to shift?

Two reasons. First of all, some people simply have a genetic predisposition to storing fat around their love handles – just as others are predisposed to storing fat around their tummies or thighs. That’s their natural body shape, and it has nothing to do with weight. You can be extremely lean, but you still have to store fat somewhere. Often, hormones are a factor too. High levels of oestrogen are associated with body fat being stored around the love handle area - in men as well as women. Second of all, it’s impossible to target your love handles with specific exercises, like you might target your arms, glutes or abs. Sure, you can do exercises that burn fat all over your body – but if your love handles are where your body likes storing fat, they’re not going anywhere. I know how frustrating this is from personal experience. I played squash at competitive level, was 64 JANUARY 2020

very careful with what I ate and yet my shirts never fitted me right because I just could not get rid of my love handles. I cannot tell you how many times I considered giving up my exercise and diet, because after all that effort – and despite being very fit – I still didn’t like my shape. Ultimately I realised that my love handles were not going away on their own, and that the only solution was to get some help from aesthetic medicine. (I chose Vaser, but as you already know, there are terrific non-surgical options.) If you, too, have tried diet and exercise but are still plagued by your love handles, it may be the best solution for you as well. If that is an option you would like to explore further, why not book a consultation with me at our Harpenden or London clinic. We will take a medical history, discuss what kind of results you want to achieve, and review the options to find the treatment that best fits with your goals, lifestyle and budget. If you’re already pretty sure you know which procedure you want, we’ll confirm you are a suitable candidate and put together your bespoke treatment plan. We are more than happy to work with your personal trainers as well to optimise your outcomes. We also have our in house personal trainer Ros Jaffa who will help you put together a long-term plan to maintain your results – and get the most out of any treatment.

Positive Emotional Attitude T he cold, wet, dark short days can get some of us down, but what are we to do about it? We cannot change the seasons or the weather. Actually, there are a lot of things we cannot change… the unchangeables; real bad stuff. Some circumstances and situations are just there and sometimes regardless how hard we search, there is very little we can do to alter things; however, I believe we do have a modicum of control over how we react to negative circumstances and situations. Damaging ruminations can be overpowering and can produce or increase anxiety, despair, irritation, bewilderment - and overthinking these problems is draining. Conversely, positive thoughts are rewarding and satisfying as they bring buoyant helpful thought processes such as contentment, encouragement, and inspiration to the front of our minds. With endless negative ruminating, it’s easy to miss the good stuff. For a true perspective of how your life is positive in many respects, try making a list of all the good and positive aspects. Take time

66 JANUARY 2020

to envisage the encouraging like liquid gold in the palm of your hand. Say to yourself, “Well done.” or “That’s good.” Repeating your ‘positive list’ to yourself may seem simple, but this practise will help you keep gratefulness and hopefulness at the foreront of your mind rather than being overlooked. Accept yourself as who you actually are, with your good qualities balancing out some of your less than lovely virtues. If you accept the good things about yourself and your situation, you might just realise that you are luckier than you think you are. Developing a positive emotional approach requires effort over a period of time, but ultimately you can take control of your thoughts and feelings, choosing positive ways of being that are constructive and inspirational. New Retirement Development Opens in St Albans

Y

ou may be thinking of moving home because of life changes or to downsize. The expense of an older property or simply freeing up equity of your existing home may be pushing you to move on. In all these cases Eywood House, might be right for you. This development of modern retirement apartments was opened by bpha housing association close to St Albans City centre.

A lovely location Situated in the St Julians area of St Albans, the new apartments are surrounded by the residential streets. A bus service to the city centre stops outside Eywood House, providing access to local facilities.

Wellbeing in a retirement community Founded in 1990, bpha has extensive experience in running retirement developments. It prides itself on providing independent living with a strong sense of community and an improved quality of life for all residents. In total bpha manage 25 retirement services. They bring people together and run and support a wide range of community activities.

74 JANUARY 2020

Flexibility with personal care Care at Eywood House is provided by Abbots Care, so you can be rest assured that you or your loved ones are in the most trusted hands, within the comfort of their own home. Residents can purchase care for their specific needs but are welcome to use another provider of their choice.

How much does it cost? Well not as much as you might think. With the option of shared ownership, buyers can acquire properties at more affordable rates than they could otherwise.

Understanding how shared ownership works By opting for shared ownership, prospective residents can purchase a quality apartment at less than the market value. This is possible thanks to bpha retaining part ownership. “This is a great way to free up capital to make life easier or to take up the opportunities in life that wouldn’t otherwise be available,” say bpha. Apartments at Eywood House are available now and are valued from £206,250 for a 75 per cent share, with the remaining share owned by bpha. A monthly service charge also applies and you will need to factor in any care costs. Apartments are also available to rent. Eywood House offers a range of amenities and facilities on site including a communal garden and terrace which will provide an opportunity for staff and residents to meet, dine outdoors and participate in external group activities. Residents can enjoy their privacy and independence, with the reassurance of care and support when necessary.

MAKE IT MAXIMALISM

LIGHT AND BRIGHT

An all-white interior creates the illusion of a room being lighter, brighter and larger. As useful as it is, white is not an emotional colour, so you’ll need layers of texture and tones to bring depth and comfort. Use nuanced shades, from cool to warm, for a softer, more flattering look than a single, pure white,” says Annie Sloan. “If you’re a fan of the modern rustic aesthetic, white-painted reclaimed timber creates a wonderfully cosy look. www.anniesloan.com

Audenza is derived from Latin, meaning to be audacious, daring, bold or courageous. Which is exactly how the ladies behind Audenza feel you should approach decorating your home. “Maximalism exudes the true Audenza spirit. A spirit that celebrates the love of colour, texture, contrast and above all, exuberance. An homage to a glamorous and exciting way of living, with that essential touch of quirkiness for added pizzazz.” – Amelia Brooks, co-founder of Audenza www.audenza.com

at COUNTRYWIDE PIANOS

C

ountrywide Pianos has been proudly serving both the local and wider community and we have developed from small beginnings to become the ultimate premier showroom in the South- East of England. The piano’s magical sound is created by the player pressing any one of its 88 keys, which creates a note. This happens through a complex hammer-on-string mechanism, which needs to be perfectly regulated and tuned. In the 1900’s a piano which played by itself, by reading a punched out paper roll, was all the rage. Today pianos are sophisticated musical instruments, which may not only play themselves but can be enhanced by full orchestral and vocal parts – in essence providing a live orchestral performance in your own sitting room. Today the punched out paper rolls have been replaced with the very latest digital technology, incorporated within a real acoustic piano, which can be played as a regular piano. Seeing, however is believing and a visit to Countrywide Pianos for a full demonstration is recommended. Our showroom is an array of both new and pre loved pianos with a price range to suit all pockets -from the upright piano to the very largest of full size concert grand piano, self player pianos, ‘Silent’ Yamaha pianos, together with recognition of being a Kawai real and digital Piano Selection centre you really will find it fun making your choice and for those who may need assistance there is always help and advice on hand. Being perfectly located just 35 minutes outside of London with our own FREE car parking right outside the door, shopping is made easy and enjoyable. We will arrange delivery and collection together with onsite tuning and 24 hour event support. With all of this to offer and our specialist

Winter Warmers

There’s a chill in the air and it’s time to hibernate at home. Gabrielle Fagan hunts the hottest buys to warm up rooms.

colour - orange and green are this season’s front runners - for a winning winter combination.

Raid nature’s colour palette Embrace the warmth of the autumn colours as an antidote to the creeping chill in the air. Rich reds and russets star on the hedgerows and trees, and adding those hues in accessories will have the same effect in a room.

Change the view

O

ur homes really need to be snug sanctuaries at this time of year, so we can retreat, relax and escape the cold. So, shake up your style to suit the season, splurge on a few treats and you’ll banish the winter decor blues and create a haven where you can rest in comfort.

Go pale but interesting Chilled out Scandi-style, with its neutral palette, endures because its classic good looks never date and it’s easy to add subtle new touches to suit a new season. The addition of a sheepskin rug (pampering for the toes), a throw, and plenty of cushions covered in tactile fabrics like velvet or wool, are all that’s needed to create a cosseting winter sanctuary.

Harvest some style Treat yourself (and a room) to accessories that are all about chic comfort, which you can move around to suit your mood and the temperature. Think furry pouffes and fluffy beanbags.

Be cost-conscious and cosy It’s all about setting the scene with a cosy focal point at this time of year. If you’re lucky enough to own a fireplace, this is the perfect time to take advantage of it and enjoy that beautiful wood smoke smell and orange glow - it’s pure autumn joy. An empty hearth can be made just as appealing with a little imagination. Simply decorate with a cluster of pine cones and add a collection of candles for flickering light.

Bag a high-street hero Supermarket homeware ranges are such a high standard now (and trend led) that you’re missing a decor trick if you don’t check them out. A trolley full of purse-friendly bargains can refresh a room without breaking the bank.

Add some va-va-velvet Velvets are one of the biggest ongoing trends in interiors. Pair their touch-me textures with a rich 84 JANUARY 2020

There’s nothing like a bleak, boring view to lower the spirits, especially in winter, but window film or blinds can work wonders on that outlook. Both can make a feature out of an otherwise dull window and ensure you feel boosted, even on dark days.

Lighten the mood Lighting is key in the dark, winter months, and table lamps illuminating focal points and areas in a room will make it look interesting and inviting. Show off your playful side and introduce quirky lights, which will make you smile and turn a neglected surface into a feature.

Tell a texture story You don’t have to abandon glamour in the bedroom when the temperature drops - instead, layer with soft fabrics, from fluffy sheepskin cushions to silky throws. They won’t just be a visual treat, and are essential in a muted scheme, decorated in neutrals that could otherwise look bland. They’ll also add a sexy, sensual cosiness.

Add some fur-fabulous accessories Go wild with faux fur, but keep it feminine with a blushing pink theme. It looks fabulous on moody black or blue bed linen, or go for a full-on icemaiden effect with a snowy white set.

MILLWOOD SHOWCASE 2020 INTERIOR TRENDS AT CHERRY TREE LANE

S The colour of the year for 2020 has been recently revealed by colour company Pantone as ‘Classic Blue’. Described as a universal favourite among many homeowners and interior designers alike, the traditional colour brings a ‘reassuring presence, instilling calm, confidence and connection’. A prediction emulated by Stacks Property Search, neutral colours that have been popular in recent years, such as pale grey and white, are due to be replaced by bolder, darker palettes, with dark blue and dark aubergine among the favourites for the year. 86 JANUARY 2020

howcasing these darker, dramatic colours is Tree Tops, Millwood Designer Homes’ beautiful new show home at Cherry Tree Lane in the leafy village of Ewhurst, Surrey. Designed and dressed by acclaimed luxury interior designers Neptune, they have blended next year’s most popular interior trends with the radiance of a new home. Simon Temprell, Interior Design Manager at Neptune, comments on the design of the home: “Over the past few years we have seen a trend towards dark, richer colours being used in home interiors, and this seems to be the story for 2020. Not only are people painting their walls in charcoal, chocolate and navy but they are extending the same colour to skirtings, coving, doors and trim for a cohesive look that tricks the eye into a perception of infinite space.” “In the living room at Cherry Tree Lane, we painted the walls in our latest paint colour, Ink, which is a very dark blue, almost black shade that works very well with the contrasting ceiling and woodwork. Strong pops of vibrant colour work well with these darker shades, so we have added bright velvet accent colours in the top floor media room, and lots of houseplants, which is another noticeable design feature for the year ahead.” Tree Tops is a luxurious five-bedroom detached house that delivers spacious open-plan living areas, and stylish boutique interiors. The ground floor features a kitchen/breakfast/family room which naturally flows into a dining room, offering a natural hub of the home for modern families. A separate drawing room with a brick fireplace also enjoys French doors opening onto a landscaped garden, with a study and cloakroom completing the ground floor. Upstairs, a master bedroom with a designer ensuite, a second bedroom that comes complete with a fitted wardrobe, a further two spacious double bedrooms, and a large family

bathroom make up the first floor. The second floor has a second bedroom with ensuite and media room, providing the ideal private space for visiting guests or for families with teenage children. A double garage also benefits the property. Simon continues: “Multi-functional rooms and open-plan living seem very popular and that is why we have included desks in bedrooms as well as a casual dining area in the kitchen. Quality and longevity are more important than ever in 2020 as we strive to make furnishings more sustainable and, at Neptune, we pride ourselves in the excellent quality of our solid-wood cabinetry and furniture which, with our custom paint service, can be adapted to suit just about every interior.” Philip Brown, Sales and Marketing Director at Millwood Designer Homes, comments: “Neptune’s wonderful design at Tree Tops reflects a superior standard of family living. Through this stunning home, we are able to present those looking for a new home with an on-trend interior that they can aspire to have in a Millwood home in 2020. We are delighted to be able to share Neptune’s design with our customers and, with the unique opportunity to purchase the beautiful home fullydressed, the lucky purchaser will be set for 2020, as the owners of a luxurious Neptune home.” The village of Ewhurst offers a selection of everyday amenities; a local independent shop, village pub and three outstanding schools all within three miles of the homes at Cherry Tree Lane. Ideally located with transport links into London, it is also within reach of Cranleigh and Guildford, both of which offer a variety of modern and traditional conveniences. Conveniently nestled at the foot of the Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, residents can admire the stunning Surrey countryside views at popular Box Hill, Leith Hill, The Hurtwood, Pitch Hill or Holmbury Hill, or learn a new hobby at Hurtwood Park Polo Club, situated just down the road. The Tree Tops show home is available to purchase fully-dressed, with many pieces from Neptune’s on-trend Autumn/Winter19 collection offering a unique opportunity for purchasers to buy and live in a Neptune show home. Furthermore, those who reserve any home at Cherry Tree Lane between now and 31st January will receive a free design voucher worth £5,000, to style their new home in the latest 2020 trends. Tree Tops is currently priced at £1,175,000 and is open to view daily between 10am – 4pm. Starting prices for other homes at Cherry Tree Lane start at £399,950, with Help to Buy available on selected properties. A gated entrance and sweeping drive lead you to this exclusive retreat. Diverse in both character and amenities, Beaconsfield caters perfectly to your unique lifestyle. Every home on this development features deep driveways and large gardens. Just nine superb homes, the very essence of luxury. Oakford Homes’ considered and design-led approach is what makes this new development stand out. Utilising artful design as the base on which everything else is built, whether that’s the spacious layout of the master bedroom or the look and feel of an internal door handle. This approach encompasses every detail considered both consciously and subliminally in an Oakford home. The results are aspirational homes divided over two floors with features such as utility rooms, spacious hallways, gallery landings and detached garages. Chris Coates, Oakford Homes Managing Director says, “At the heart of every decision we make is your comfort, wants and unspoken needs; focussing on the creation of a beautiful house that goes above and beyond your criteria for the perfect home.” When you choose an Oakford Home at Beech Court, the ground floor is ideal for entertaining and relaxation with bright and airy rooms offering you an abundance of space. Contemporary design blends seamlessly with traditional craftsmanship as seen in the Velux windows, bi-fold and sliding doors and luxurious finishes throughout. In the heart of the home is the enticing and delightfully modern kitchen with select premier

appliances, breakfast bar for casual dining, and looking out to the large rear garden. All the elegance you want, with the practical touches you need for the ideal working kitchen – ready for those lazy Sunday mornings or eight-person dinner parties in the separate dining room. An atmosphere of comfort and relaxation permeates the first floor with statement gallery landings, elegant en suites and built-in wardrobes. Substantial double bedrooms suffused with natural light and plush carpeting. All the features on the ’new house’ list are ticked. In the pursuit of excellence, specification is a priority, not an afterthought. Oakford Homes’ unwavering eye for detail and dedication to craftsmanship is apparent in all of their homes. There is no requirement for options and extras, as only premium materials, fittings and appliances are selected to ensure the perfect balance of comfort and sophistication. To Oakford, standard means standard-setting, the embodiment of a unique approach to creating homes. Beech Court launches this February with an exemplary show home ready for viewing, one that embodies the high quality, contemporary design and featuring the finest specification, appliances and materials.
