FROM THE CLUB PRESIDENT A Note

Hello August. If summer's were a series, August would be the finale.

Last month started off with a bang at our Bacon & Bourbon event and our Red White and Blue Celebration and Firework Show on the dam. I hope everyone had safe and joyous Fourth of July. Following the colorful holiday, we had our Little Chefs Cake Class hosted by our very own Chef Nic who instructed our now certified culinary artists how to measure, mix, bake and decorate their very own cake. Wrapping up the month we had our Car Show that revved up our Saturday morning with unique vehicles all around. Be sure to join us for our New Member Mix& Mingle, Wine on 9.5, and many more exciting events coming our way this August.

Be sure to stop in and experience our newly-crafted menu we launched on July 21st. Prepared by our exceptionally talented team of chefs, the Steak & Noodle salad, the Irishman and my favorite, the Butter Smash Burgers have all been a hit. Stay tuned for the launch of our new Dessert menu.

We are less than half way done with the 2023 year, and our summer swim season will soon come to an end. Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 10th as our last pool day wrapping up at 3PM. Bring your pooch for our Puppy Pool Pawty following from 3PM-5PM. Sorry humans, pups only in the pool.

Please welcome our new Golf Members,

I look forward to seeing each of you at the Club as exciting things are happening here at Loch Lloyd.

OPERATIONS Golf Sean Hanna, Director

of Golf

Welcome to the dog days of summer! August has arrived and it’s always a fun month around the club. We have had a great summer thus far and are expecting to have a great rest of the summer and fall. As we get excited for the start of college and pro football (Let’s go Vikings!). It’s also time to gear up for fall golf events.

August is also the month when many of our high school and college students head back to school. Be sure to thank them for all their hard work before they leave.

Brent Mertz was crowned the 2023 Men’s Club Champion this year. Brent was able to take down former Club Champion, Ben Kimminau in the final match. This was the first year that Match Play would decide our Men’s Club Champion and there were some great matches throughout the event. Thank you to all that participated.

Congratulations to Jeremy Dear, our Head Professional! Jeremy finished T-2 in the Midwest PGA Professional Championship. The Professional Championship at the Section Level is the biggest tournament of the year. The top four scores in this event qualify for the PGA Professional Championship which will be held next April, at Fields Ranch at PGA Frisco. The top 20 finishers in the PGA Professional Championship will qualify for the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club.

See you on the first tee,

GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT Grant Suderman

Dear Members,

I hope you all have enjoyed your summer as August always seems to sneak up on you! This past month Loch Lloyd has been blessed with multiple rain events which have provided the course with a much-needed boost of health.

With this rain and summer heat the fairways have vigorously started to grow yet sporadic weak areas remain. Many of these weak areas were sodded in late spring with bad sod received from the sod farm. The sod farm has admitted fault with having sent winter killed sod and has agreed to replace it.

This sod work is planned to be completed the last week of July, weather depending. Other weak fairway areas are due to traffic stress and/or lack of proper drainage. We started installing proper drainage to fairways this Spring and have plans to finish installing drainage to all fairways in Q4 of this year Traffic stress has also caused damage on multiple fairways including holes #14 & #17.

Due to this we are having ongoing discussions on options to alleviate this damage by limiting traffic during the winter months. We are excited to fix these weak areas with sod and look forward to providing sustainable solutions for these areas to remain of high quality.

We thank you for your understanding as we remain committed to providing Loch Lloyd Country Club with the best golfing experience in Kansas City.

Best Regards,

There were a group of guys in the 19th Hole when a phone rings. One of the guys answers it on speaker:

MAN: "Hello?"

WOMAN: "Honey, its me. Are you at the club?"

MAN: "Yes "

WOMAN: "Im at Town Center and found a beautiful fur wrap and it's on sale for $750. Is it OK if I buy it?"

MAN: "If it's on sale and you like it that much, go ahead."

WOMAN: "THANK YOU! I also stopped by Kansas City Mercedes on my way over here and saw the new CLS 450. It is GORGEOUS and we have already been talking about trading. What do you think?"

MAN: "How much?"

WOMAN: "$88,000."

MAN: "OK, cars are hard to find these days but get price for the trade and, at that high tag, I want it with all the optional extras."

WOMAN: "Great! Oh, and one more thing. The house we wanted last year is back on the market. You know the one on the water where we loved the view? They're asking $1,500,000. What do you think? It could really be our forever home."

MAN: "Well then, go ahead and make them an offer but absolutely no more than $1,250,000."

WOMAN: "How exciting! This is all great news. I will get the wheels in motion on all of these. I love you!"

MAN: "Bye, I love you, too."

The man hangs up The other men in the 19th Hole are looking at him in absolute astonishment Then he smiles and asks, "Anyone know whose phone this is?"

LLLGA INFORMATION

July proved to be a sizzling hot time for our LLLGA members. Over 40 women participated in the 9-hole Red, White & Blue Blast on July 6th. The ladies were treated royally by the enthusiastic sponsors, some of whom got fully into the spirit of the occasion. The red, white and blue theme and attire were proudly displayed, and the participants definitely had a blast! Big thanks to Lori McConnell, our 9-hole coordinator, for her oversight in pulling together this incredibly fun event.

The red, white and blue theme carried forward to our Solheim Cup event. And that was literally a hot one! The heat, humidity and unforgiving rough provided challenging conditions for our Red & White and Blue & White teams to power through. And, in a first since hosting this tournament, the two-day competition resulted in a tie! Congratulations to Team Captains Sherie Bartlett and Annette Cundith and their respective Red & White and Blue & White teams for putting up a tough fight to an even finish! Kudos as well go to Melinda Baty and Ruth Newby for working through the details to pull off this event.

Our Formal Guest Day will be on August 2nd. Inspired perhaps by this balmy weather we’ve been having, there will be a Tropical Twist to the event. It will be a 9am shotgun with lunch following play. Invite one, two or three guests to join you for a swinging good time and a chance for some prizes! More
