Dear Member, February is upon us and we are hoping it starts with a bang. Super Bowl LV is just around the corner with our Kansas City Chiefs returning to the big game to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, February 7th. Don’t forget the Club when planning your party food. We will be offering our full menu including pizza, chili, wings, nachos, chicken fingers, burgers, wraps and more! Call us for pick-up or delivery (for resident members) prior to the Club closing at 4p that day. We hope you enjoy a fantastic Valentine celebration with loved ones. We have planned two nights of exceptional dining so that everyone may experience a memorable holiday. Look for details and the Valentine menu in the Food and Beverage section of this newsletter. We are anxious for warm weather months to arrive, bringing us more daylight hours to spend on the course and the courts. Go Chiefs!

As the Golf Operations team settles into February, we are hard at work getting ready for 2021. All of the behind-the-scenes work to prepare for 2021 is in full swing. The team is working diligently on calendars, booklets, flyers and all of the documents that you see throughout the year. The annual Golf Event Guide is almost complete. This year we will just be emailing a copy to each of you. The Event Guide will have the golf calendar and specific event details for each of Loch Lloyd’s golf events. This is a great tool for you to have all of the information you need at your fingertips. You’ll also be emailed the 2021 Club Information Guide, packed with relevant information including staff email addresses, phone numbers, operational hours, etc. Both of these publications will be in your in-boxes by mid-February. SEAN HANNA DIRECTOR OF GOLF seanh@lochlloyd.com
Enjoy the month of February wherever you are. Stay safe, healthy and warm! The Masters countdown has begun … 66 days and counting (depending on when you are reading this)! See you on the first tee, Sean
WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM Approaching “In-Season”
FEBRUARY HOURS OF OPERATION Golf Shop: 9a to 5p Tuesday-Sunday Practice Facility: 9:30a to 4:30p Tuesday-Sunday FIRST TEE TIMES Tee times will begin one hour after the Golf Shop opens, weather permitting
The WHS will soon return to “in-season” mode as of March 1st. With this said, you may begin posting all scores either in the Golf Shop or online, starting that day. We will remain in the active season through December 31, 2021. One handicap question I frequently get asked is, “Should I post this score?” The answer is YES … you should absolutely post each and every score played in medal play or match play formats. The handicap system works its best and in the intended manner in which it was created when players post every score. When you only post “the good scores,” your handicap is artificially low. This will make it nearly impossible to play to your handicap in addition to making yourself the partner that no one would want to play with in a competition. Posting scores higher than you actually achieved will give you an artificially higher handicap and make you a “well known” member for all the wrong reasons. This also causes you to lose your golf mates quickly! We ask that members post every score from your rounds — including nine-hole scores. If you have questions or need assistance in utilizing the handicap system, please contact the Golf Shop.
We are excited to announce that we are scheduling Demo Days for this spring. This is a great opportunity to test out the new equipment that is available for 2021 before you make your new club purchases for the season. Sales reps from many of the major manufacturers will be on site at our Practice Facility to showcase their new equipment. Mark your calendar and save the dates! Reservations will be required!
Wednesday, April 7th 2p to 6p
Friday, March 26th Friday, April 23rd 11a to 3p
Saturday, April 17th 11a to 2p
We’re finalizing dates and times for Demo Days with these vendors, too!

If YOU ace the hole, your member account is credited the full amount from all members in the Hole-in-One Club. Half of the winnings are applied as a credit in your Golf Shop credit book; the other half may be used on the day of your hole-in-one to ease the burden of the time-honored tradition of buying everyone a celebratory drink. Any leftover winnings are applied to your Golf Shop credit book.

It is hard to believe we’re already into February of a new year! The Golf Course Maintenance team has been working diligently through the up-and-down weather these past few months. As you can see from these graphs, the weather so far this year has been less than impressive. However, within the GCM world, we are wise not to wish for any anomalies. Boring weather can be a good thing!

Several key initiatives have developed thus far into 2021. While the safety and well-being of the associates is always the top priority, a few of the tasks we’ve been able to accomplish, or that are in the works, at the time of writing include: Removal of several dangerous and dead trees throughout the property Clearing out an abandoned drainage ditch behind the tennis courts which
had been flooding neighbors’ backyards for years
Building a new walking bridge on #13 Repairing a leak to the liner in the pond at #2 Continuing to improve the maintenance shop and work environment
While these initiatives have all been impactful, many unseen projects continue behind the scenes of GCM. Please feel free to reach out and we’d be happy to give you a quick tour of the shop or an update on any projects you may see us working on out on the course. Since I started working with the GCM team a few years ago, my goal has been to build a steadfast group of full-time associates and create a culture for all to succeed and prosper. The growth and development of our associates is a key initiative every day. I am proud of each member of this team and hope you’ll agree we have great associates working hard to provide an excellent product!
