Wow! What a Scotty!! The annual Member-Member Golf Tournament (the Scotty) has come and gone and what an incredible two days of golf it was. This year’s tournament featured our largest field ever, 144 players all compacted into 12 flights. The 12 flight winners then headed down to #18 and we began the alternate shot shootout. As daylight was beginning to disappear, there was one group left with a birdie opportunity to win and they made the putt. Congratulations Alex Vanvliet and Justin Lightner on a well deserve Scotty victory!
Next on the calendar is our inaugural Women’s Member-Member. We are looking forward to an exciting and fun event. There is still time to sign up, so please call the Golf Shop for more information.
Happy Father’s Day in advance to all the dads. Enjoy your day, hopefully it allows you to spend some time at the club, then at home with the family…. maybe even some US Open golf viewing from your favorite recliner or couch.
Finally, let’s get ready to Whummle! The annual Men’s Member-Guest will take place from Wednesday, June 21st through Saturday June 24th. The Whummle is always a fun event and it’s a great time to showcase the club to all of the guests.
See you on the 1st tee,

Dear Members,
Temperatures have consistently been above 80 in recent weeks as summer has officially welcomed itself to Kansas City This summer heat also brings summer stresses to turfgrass #15 green has historically struggled to provide quality turf during hot, humid and stagnant weather conditions. To combat the decline of #15 green two Turfbreeze fans will be temporarily installed for the summer months.
Limited air movement is one of the major contributing factors to summer bentgrass decline More than 30 years of research and field observations have demonstrated that fans are a successful tool to improve air circulation and sustain turfgrass quality of bentgrass putting greens in summer months. The air movement provided by the fans reduces surface and soil temperatures while aiding in moisture control. When soil temperatures rise above 86°F bentgrass has a net energy loss, this causes a reduction in root and shoot growth On a sunny 90°F day, the surface temperature of a green can be 105° Research shows that air movement (fans) can lower the surface temperatures 10 degrees and soil temperatures 6 degrees. Therefore, it is crucial to KEEP FANS ON during these hot months. Due to the success of the fans seen in the picture on #15 green, we are currently evaluating additional areas to install fans for improved conditions.
We thank you for your understanding as we remain committed to providing Loch Lloyd Country Club with the best golfing experience in Kansas City. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns at grants@lochlloyd com

After a particularly poor round, a golfer spotted a lake as he walked despondently up the 18th. He looked at his caddie and said, “I’ve played so badly all day, I think I’m going to drown myself in that lake.” The caddie, quick as a flash, replied, “I’m not sure you could keep your head down that long.”

It’s been great getting back on the course on a regular basis. It usually takes a few weeks to get our bodies back into golf shape, but the beauty of Spring provides a welcome distraction with its emerging blooms and budding trees. And, who can resist looking for the eaglets or their parents as we approach the 12th hole? Ben Hogan once said, “As you walk down the fairway of life, you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round.” And, there is plenty out there for us to enjoy!
Now that we’ve had some time to get the rust out of our swings, it’s time to sign up for some great events! First up will be our Informal Guest Day on June 14th It’s a once-a-year opportunity to invite up to three friends to play with you on one of our LLLGA 18-hole play days So, round up some friends and sign up on ForeTees for a relaxing morning of golf and some socializing over lunch!
Following that is the club’s premier ladies golf event, scheduled for June 16th & 17th. The Pro Shop has sent out info on this upcoming Ladies Member/Member event and a number of LLLGA members have already signed up for their teams! And, there’s room for more! This is bound to be an exciting two days of golf and gatherings. There will be food, gifts and prizes to be had for your entry fee of $300 per person, including a guest pass to invite a friend to play with you later in the year. That alone has a $125 value! If that’s not enough incentive to get you to sign up, how about this - the overall winners of the event will have their July dues paid! Will the lucky winners be on your team? It can be if you’re in it!
Another fun team event is the Partner Challenge This is a 2-lady event in which you play other teams for the 18 points available per round The team with the best ball for the hole wins the point or, if you’ve tied, you both get half a point We’ll have at least two flights this year In the past, some teams struggled to schedule the five required matches so, to make it more manageable, we’ve discussed taking the three best scores to determine the winner. Hopefully, you’ll agree that scheduling at least three matches is doable, especially when you have most of the season in which to get them in. Also, to determine an overall winner, the flight winners will play each other! Sign up is no longer open in ForeTees but call Matt in the Pro Shop if you’re interested in playing. We’d like to start scheduling matches by June 1st.
You can also sign up for individual match play Match play is less stressful than stroke play because, even if you blow up on a few holes, you can still win it! The focus is to win the majority of holes as opposed to counting the strokes made on each Sign up for this is also closed but please contact Matt if interested
We will continue to send out info to let you know and remind you of upcoming events Also, check out Golf Information in ForeTees and look for updates under 2023 LLLGA News.
THERE WILL BE NO HOME & GARDEN CLUB MEETING FOR THE MONTH OF JULY.
ThankYou
Swim Team
