Dear Members, The golf course is beautiful, the air is fresh and crisp and the Chiefs are back! It’s a great time of year. I’m excited for the change of season and can’t wait to see the leaves change color. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and, once again, we are proud to honor our members and associates who are warriors in this fight. In tribute, our Food & Beverage team is offering a selection of PINK WINES throughout the month of October … all priced right at only $15 a bottle! We can’t celebrate October without some “Oktoberfest” beer specials, too. See page six of this issue for complete details. We hope you have the opportunity to visit us soon. Dear Members, As we head down the stretch to the end of 2020, there are still some tasks to complete, and the month of October is our last opportunity to accomplish some of these items. Here are a few things on our fall “to-do” list:  This is the best month to address sod work in

our rough/cool-season areas of the course. Our focus will be cart path edges, enter/exit areas around greens and fairways, and greens surrounds. These areas will be roped off after being laid so please avoid them if possible as they will be wet from frequent watering which will make them very soft.

 The majority of our seeding was completed

in September, but we may be finishing up in a few areas around the course. We try to complete our seeding in the earlier part of this month since it becomes more difficult for seed to germinate as it gets cooler and frost becomes more frequent.

 Mowing down native and trimming our

creek beds is also something we focus on this month.  Pre-emergent applications in our rough

and native areas will start later this month and into November. This depends more on soil temperature, but typically this is when we start these applications. This is for the prevention of grassy weeds in these areas. October is also a great month to play golf before the weather gets too cold. The trees on the course will also be changing colors which is always a pleasant sight this time of the year. Enjoy your month and I look forward to seeing you around the Club! CONTROLLING THE CLUB FACE

The body responds to the club face and path. Stephen, shown below in a series of photos, would get the club laid off and the club face open at the top. From there he would have to stop rotating and flip the club to try and square the face. He could do this fairly consistently and was a good player, but didn’t know when the big foul ball was coming. By getting the shaft pitch and club face in a better position going back, Stephen was able to get into a better impact position without having to save the club face with the flip. The results were better dispersion and much better starting lines.

FACE-ON VIEW ……………… Because the club face is in a more closed position at the top and shallowing now instead of steepening, Stephen now gets more forward shaft lean with less “flip.” We never talked about his release during the lesson, this happened naturally because it was the most effective way for him to hit the ball, just like the “flip” was the most effective way for him to hit the ball with his old backswing.

Welcome October … one of my favorite months of the year! The cooler temps and colorful leaves make the Veranda a perfect venue for outdoor dining at the Club. Please keep in mind that lunch and dinner reservations for dining inside or outside the Club are required! With our limitations on space due to social distancing, reservations are no longer just a suggestion. Thank you for calling ahead so that you aren’t disappointed and we have time to staff and prepare accordingly. Executive Chef Ken Hornbeck is changing things up this fall with WAGYU WEDNESDAYS featuring a made-to-order Wagyu Burger and Fries for $14++ from 4p to close. Wagyu beef is highly marbled, producing more flavorful, tender and juicy burgers! Chef will also introduce NEW WEEKLY SPECIALS on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5p to close. Dear Members, We have a few changes to announce for the Fitness Center starting this month. The biggest changes involve our weekend hours of operation and registration for group exercise classes. Please see the details below and be sure to call or email if you have any questions or concerns. Our safety protocols remain in place and are outlined below. The entire fitness team is committed to providing you a safe place to exercise and stay healthy. FITNESS CENTER HOURS OF OPERATION Drew Tanner Director of Fitness FITNESS CENTER HOURS OF OPERATION DAILY HOURS 5a to 10p

 The Fitness Center hours have been extended during weekends.

The facilities are now open from 5a to 10p daily. GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES  Starting in October, members will no longer need to register for group exercise classes in advance on the Calendly website. Instead, members will be signed in by the group exercise instructor when you arrive to class.  Vinyasa Yoga will continue to take place at The National Clubhouse on Mondays at 9a. As a reminder, equipment is provided but bringing your own mat and equipment is encouraged.  Bootcamp will continue to be held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:15a at the Tennis Courts.  Mind Body Balance returns on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30a at The National Clubhouse. FITNESS CENTER RULES AND GUIDELINES  The minimum age to use the Fitness Center is 14. All children under 14 years of age must be

accompanied by an adult.

 Proper athletic attire and closed toed athletic shoes must be worn. Bathing suits and sandals will        

not be permitted. Sign in at the front desk and log your temperature upon arrival. This will be strictly enforced. Members only; no guests allowed. NO EXCEPTIONS. Members may access the Fitness Center using their key fob. Showers, water fountain and towel service will not be available. The water bottle filling station is still active. Please bring your own water and towels and be sure to take them with you when you leave the facility. Members must maintain a six-foot radius between other members at all times. Due to Platte County ordinance, masks must be worn when social distancing is not possible. All equipment must be wiped down before and after each use with the provided wipes. KIDS’ TENNIS USTA NET GENERATION PROGRAM Scaling the game down to their size helps make the learning process easier and more fun! The kids develop motor skills, strengthen physical ability, learn teamwork and acquire leadership skills. To ensure proper development, students must sign up for at least two days per week. Based on skill level, groups work 25 minutes on skills and 25 minutes on instructional match play.

Limited dining is available and the Watson Library is closed. Please check in at the Concierge desk no earlier than 10 minutes prior to your reservation time. No reservations are required for The Deuce Grill. To-go orders must be placed no later than 30 minutes prior to closing so that our staff has time to prepare your meal.  Mandatory daily temperature checks for all associates,

members and guests entering the facilities. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be denied entry.  All associates will wear face masks at all times.  Members and their guests are required to wear a mask in accordance with Platte County's mask ordinance while inside the buildings (except while eating or drinking).  Associates will wash and sanitize their hands frequently throughout service.  Tables and chairs will be sanitized after each seating.  Linen tablecloths at The National Clubhouse will be changed after each seating.  Disposable menus will be used.  Straws and condiments available upon request.  Only contact-less payment via member charge is allowed  Clubhouse restroom touch-points are sanitized regularly throughout the day, according to CDC guidelines.  All members and their guests must maintain proper social distancing while in the buildings and on the patios. Members must also maintain proper social distancing while in line for the Snack Bar or restrooms at the Pool.  If you are sick, please stay home.  Practice diligent personal hygiene. Wash your hands.
