CURRICULUM VITAE Girls from Omsk was launched in 2007 by Valéria Siniouchkina, a belgian designer with russian roots and graphic designer Philippe Koeune. The brand received the Modo Bruxellæ Prize and in 2009, collaborated, worldwide, with Kipling and had a national collaboration with chainstore giant JBC. Girls from Omsk is a Street Couture line for women. The aim is to redefine street-wear style through a designer approach, adapting basic pieces to offer an edgy, colourful and sassy wardrobe with an attitude! Each season, the imaginary girls from Omsk travel from city to city where they get inspired and evolve in their style.

THE COLLECTION New collection, new location; this season the girls head to Paris. Paris means romance and also sophistication… If romance is the set of love, then Paris is its brilliant incarnation. Are the girls in love ? On the edge of an affair, dressing up for the first ‘rendez-vous’, walking along the canal St-Martin, the girls’ excitement is pulsating through the air. The girls definitely look their best: sophisticated, feminine yet straightforward, 100% Girls from Omsk with the subtle touch of a new flavour. Seduced and seductive, casual and sophisticated, street and sassy, the heart of the girls seems to swing and beat to a new rhythm. This is only the beginning…

CURRICULUM VITAE Boris Schipper was born in the Netherlands and Tomas Pedrosa Arques in Belgium in 1969. Schipper/Arques is about celebrating shape and texture in a collection with strong contrasts between structure and fluidity, combining underground influences with couture finishing techniques. With attention to detail, a collection both fragile and masculine pictures, a world of romantic minimalism and laid back elegance against a backdrop of refined fetishism. A passion for cut and construction and the power to use clothing to shape a silhouette form the foundation for every collection, supplemented by deliberately unpretentious but intricate pieces to balance the look. Schipper and Arques started working together in 1998 as stylists for clubs, music videos and fashion, evolving to attending high level private clients worldwide. To make a clear distinction from their previous work for Art of Vanity, the Schipper/Arques label was formed in Belgium in 2008.

THE COLLECTION A/W 2010-2011 is a prolongation of the body transformation/restriction theme developed for S/S 2010. Almost all women in fashion and film appearing in the media today have been perfected using light, special camera angles and computer manipulation. It’s presumed we enjoy looking at people this way therefore, highly unlikely we stop portraying women in this way but for Schipper/Arques it’s not necessary. People should be aware of the fact that they are looking at a specially created ‘image’, not depicting reality, just the way they would look at a science fiction movie. The collection is built around the belief that in the near future young girls will not be able to identify with the normal body and they will be trying to shape there young bodies into caricatures of the artificial paper perfection of a magazine cover using extremely corrective clothing to accomplish that.

CURRICULUM VITAE Noor D’Izar was founded in 2009 by Fatima Rafiy and Inge Rombouts who joined forces to create a contemporary image for the modern muslima. Noor means beauty and light, while Izar is a piece of cloth skillfully draped, by the Berbers, to produce the headscarfe. Rafiy has taken this concept to a unique level, designing a beautiful collection of scarves for Western Muslim women who wish to emphasise and extend their femininity; Noor d’Izar designs are the perfect accessories to achieve this.

THE COLLECTION The Noor D’Izar A/W 2010-2011 collection is both strikingly sophisticated and undeniably glamorous. Drawing inspiration from the snow topped Alps and chic ski resorts, Fatima Rafiy has created headscarves that are as much a statement as they are stylish. Luxurious combinations of fur and sumptuous leather are trimmed with subtle detailing such as delicate buckles and fine silk cord. Black intricate lace evokes a mysterious mood with dainty hand made buttons while stitched ‘slots’ are cleverly placed to hold sunglasses, a practical but playful element

Flore Zoé has been passionate about photography from an early age, she was fascinated by the forming and setting of images. However, later on, she decided, to study psychology. Eventually her ardent ambition to create uncommon photo series autonomously triumphs. After a long trip to the Far East she returns to her passion: the creation of images. The past years Flore Zoé has worked with distinctive artists such as Marcel Wanders, Percy Irasquin, Jessica Joyce, Marlies Dekkers and Daryl van Wouw. She has had expositions in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. More shows are planned for 2010 in New York, Shanghai, Milan, Paris, London and Barcelona. Flore Zoé communicates stories through her images: “in my work I mount and direct individuals and surroundings, thus telling my own story”. A large part of her artwork consists of emotions wrapped up in an autobiographical form. Although aware of commercial exigencies, her work is still autonomous. Due to her special and willful view by looking around, she creates a very special product.

ABOUT THE SERIES ART meets FASHION is a special photo series that will depict the creative process of fashion designers whom graduated from the fashion department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp between the year 2000 and 2008.
