Just when we thought it couldn’t get any weirder, more challenging, and, oh yes‌ better, in rolled 2020! First came the announcement of the consolidation of the four HC&M Construction companies and the huge blessing bestowed on me that I would get the humbling opportunity to lead this incredible group of Construction Professionals! What an absolute honor!!!! My excitement for this amazing challenge and opportunity could not have been more heartfelt and humbling. Thank you all for accepting me and embracing this challenge and opportunity!

Then it happened- Covid-19: a worldwide pandemic! We had to implement specific safety and health protocols, figure out a different way to do business, and still get the job done safely. We were very fortunate through this time to be essential. This means that what you do every day is critical, valued, and of the utmost importance. It Matters!! You Matter!! We had huge challenges and even BIGGER opportunities ahead. Our backlog of work was at an all time high as a group and the future outlook was still very promising even through the pandemic. So…..WE did what we do. We proceeded to have the best overall year in our combined group’s history! Great work everyone! You are simply the best!! Closing out 2020 and moving into 2021, we will still have work to do with the consolidation. The benefits that we as a unified group, a Team and a Family will experience should be huge! The ability to share resources (both human and equipment), to benchmark with each other, to develop broadly, and to improve information flow to be quicker, easier, and more consistent will continue to drive added value throughout the organization and become a competitive advantage in the markets that we serve. Moving forward, our attention to safety will be even more important than ever. As we have found out through these difficult times that it’s not just our physical safety that is important, but also our mental and emotional safety and well-being. Through attention to detail, thoughtful communication, and genuine focus on overall safety, we can get to an all-inclusive zero incident safety culture where everyone comes to work and goes home safely in mind and body. This is imperative because safety is about you, me and family! We want to Make Lives Better…One Road and Bridge at a Time!

2020 LETTER

P O T T S F A M I LY

Like my work family, my home family continues to grow. I am incredibly blessed to have such a caring, loving, faithful, and supportive family. Of course, my wife Julie is the glue. She just makes it all work all the time. And that smile you see…. yep, she has it all the time!! She is a true believer in enjoying the ride of life and has taught me so much along the way. This brings me to Christmas 2020. ‘Tis the Season!! A time to love more than you’ve ever loved, a time to forgive, a time to give, a time to pray for all those less fortunate, sick, alone, or struggling, and simply a time to reflect and be grateful. I love Christmas! All the colorful lights, the Christmas smells, the fireplaces crackling and candles burning, the great food, potential for snow and a white Christmas and (yes) the gift giving and receiving. Christmas is truly a magical time of the year! So as we go through the Holiday Season, please hold in your hearts and prayers all those who have struggled with sickness and experienced loss in 2020 and all our military, first responders, health care professionals, and their families. It has been an even more challenging year for many of them. From the Potts family and home to you and yours….. Thank you ALL for your commitment, love, and support. May God bless you all this Christmas, Holiday Season and 2021 with love, joy, hope, faith, and happiness. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and God Bless…..May 2021 be lots of FUN!!!

Equipment Manager, Milestone Happy Holidays from the Equipment Division!!! Another year come and gone, and as for many of us A LOT of change including our new Indianapolis location at 2335 W Raymond St Indianapolis, IN 46241. As we grow in personnel, we also do in facilities. The Richmond location now off 27 has come a long way as well, and now have three mechanics. The Columbus and Bloomington locations now have two in each. We are looking forward to getting our equipment in all locations prepped for what is expected to be another great year in 2021! I am personally proud of our group as they have worked through this very tough year and has supported each other in many ways, even outside of work. IS Administrator, Milestone

This past year, there have been a few changes happening within Milestone’s Information Systems department. It all started when Curt Elliot (former IS Admin) officially retired, packed up the RV, and headed off into the sunset alongside his lovely wife Sherrie! Since July 2020, yours truly joined the Milestone family as the new IS Administrator to support and guide IS operations moving forward. Even though COVID-19 presents some unique challenges for all industries this year, it really has been nothing less than a great experience as I love everything about my role here and this organization. In our short, 2-week, crash-course training with Curt, the #1 takeaway he advised was this... “Always, always take care of the folks in the field, on the front-line—they need you the most!” His words left quite an impression on me and have set the foundation for which IS will support our Milestone family. A couple of highlights to mention is the hiring and transition of Andrea Miller from accounting to her new role as the IS Field Technician. Andrea has always had a niche for Apple devices, and we saw an opportunity for Milestone to fill this need by bringing her into this role. Since joining the team, Andrea has been committed to learning the IS ropes and is enjoying every minute of it! So my friends, put your sunglasses on because the future looks bright! This year ahead IS will continue to work closely with the ITSS and THG groups in merging and streamlining technology further. You should also know our professional goal and commitment to you is to continue to absorb all there is to know about technology’s role in your job and our industry with the goal of making technology work for us and not the other way around. If we have not met yet, please know we are looking forward to that day soon! Until then, blessings to all and be safe always!

Safety RUSSELL RANDALL

Safety Director, Heritage Construction

First, let me say thank you to all the men and women of the Heritage Construction Group of companies for your resilience during this challenging year. You are the unseen heroes in the fight to keep America going during COVID-19. Through a global pandemic and social and political unrest throughout the country, in addition to the normal constraints of the industry, you managed to continue to perform quality work and meet deadlines - all while working to stay safe and healthy. Great job! 2020 has brought a few changes to the Safety Department to say the least. The Heritage Construction Group is currently going through a consolidation which means ONE safety program for the group of companies. A Safety Unification Team chaired by Doug Pierce (VP/Area Manager, Milestone Lafayette) has been created to accomplish this task. Other members of the team include Doug Collett (Project Manager/Safety Director, Wabash Valley Asphalt), Dan Nelson, (Safety Director, Champaign Asphalt), Steve Friess (Concrete Operations Division Manager), and Russell Randle (Safety Director, Heritage Construction Group). The team is working hard together to establish the best safety program possible. Look for it in 2021.

Meet Your Unified Safety Team

The consolidation has also created a unified Safety Department that will be positioned to better meet the safety needs of the construction group collectively.

Marketing DANA DOSS

Marketing Associate, Milestone

Merry Christmas from the Marketing Department! This year, Business Development took on Marketing and boy, have we been busy! With our growth and development throughout the company, we’ve been hard at work to establish brand standards, develop communication strategies, and provide overall consistency when it comes to representing our brand and who we are. This year, along with other Heritage companies, we contracted with UN Communications, a print, promotional, and apparel vendor to handle all of our swag. They’ve also developed our online company store - which will go live in January 2021. Each quarter, we’ll continue to expand our selections. Stay tuned! We’re excited to announce the revamp of our website - which is currently in progress! We’ll also be working on updated brochures and print materials - so you may be hearing more from me as we seek new and improved content in 2021. Lastly, I’m always looking for the opportunity to showcase all of you. Keep sending me your stories, your successes, your photos, and your kudos. It’s so refreshing to hear the resounding GOOD our Construction family is doing amidst a challenging and unexpected year. Your resilience inspires me. Thank you all for your warm welcome this year, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store in 2021. Have a safe and festive holiday season!

Bloomington Area Update

MARK NAGLE

VP/Area Manager, Milestone Bloomington

Happy Holidays to you and your family from everyone in the Bloomington area. 2020 has been a safe and successful year for our area. With all that has happened in our world this year, the commitment of our people to be successful despite so many things happening is truly amazing. We have worked all year to keep everyone safe and healthy during these truly trying times. We started early with the crews and plant all hard at work in March and with the great weather have finished strong. We continue to have a huge commitment to the Milestone Way with crews that come to work every day with a focus on safety, customer service, quality and taking care of each other. The estimating department has worked hard to bring in the work we needed for our area. They continue to be leaders in understanding the market and making sure that we are successful at the bid table. We thank them for all for the time and effort they put in to make this happen. Our project control department went through significant changes this year with Lesley Holland taking over as the area lead and the addition of Peter Soderstrom. They continue to keep us focused on controlling cost and collecting our money, in the fast-paced environment in which we work. We congratulate them on their new roles and thank them for all that they do. The operations team has been busy all-season taking advantage of the great weather to safely complete a long list of projects.

We want to thank our Project Managers, Superintendents, Crews and Mechanics for the level of excellence that they bring to work each and every day with them. We have continued to consistently work safely, have outstanding quality and customer service and beat budget. None of this would be possible without the personal commitment we get from each and every member of our crews to working together for a common goal. Our team at Plant 60 continued to show the huge capabilities of the upgraded plant and lab. The lab worked hard to manage multiple state projects and stay up on all that is required to produce the high-quality mix we need every day. The entire team at the plant did an amazing job keeping up with the demands of high production mainline paving and meeting the needs of all of crews and FOB customers on a daily basis.

With all that has happened in our world this year, the commitment of our people to be successful despite so many things happening is truly amazing.” MARK NAGLE

The upcoming year looks to be another exciting year for the Bloomington group. We already have several projects on the books and will have to come out of the gates running on many of these projects. There are many other projects that will be coming out for bid and our forecast looks promising for 2021. It has been a great season, and everyone has worked very hard. Thanks again for all the each of you do to make us successful. We hope you can all take some time over the holidays to rest and relax. 2020 is in the books! Well almost… Thank goodness! I would like to have a repeat regarding the safety, overall quality, and blend of work we had in the area. Not sure we would want to repeat MOST of the other things our country and the world faced this year. I am thankful our work is essential to the country allowing us to provide for families. Columbus started out with a bang, moving upwards of 10,000 cys of dirt per day on the overpass through the winter. We completed our first spray paver project on US 31 in front of plant 32, and began 2 large two year projects in Seymour. I can’t express the amount of gratitude I have for the team to not miss a beat with safety, overall quality, billings, cost control and estimating with 2020’s adverse conditions. Weather seemed to be the only thing in our favor this year. I hope everyone makes the most of the holiday season while staying socially responsible over the coming months. I look forward to an exciting 2021.

SCOTT HESTER

Director of Estimating, Milestone Richmond/Portland This year was an extremely busy year for the Milestone Richmond/Portland areas, and I would like to say thank you to everyone for their hard work and dedication. Our revenues for the year were approximately double our previously largest year, and it took a true team effort from all to get this amount of work completed. A couple of our larger projects were on I-70. R-42554-A was a large patch job from the Ohio State Line to SR 1 and RS-39784-A was a patch and overlay job from SR 1 to SR 3. On the RS-39784 contract, Milestone teamed up with E&B to patch and resurface the 14 mile stretch of I-70 from SR 3 to SR 1. E&B completed 26,766 sys of patching and laid the SMA surface while Milestone Richmond set/ removed a total of 398,005 feet (75 miles) of metal barrier wall, laid mainline intermediate, and paved shoulders. The rehabilitation of Big Blue, Branch of Big Blue and I-70 over SR 3 bridges was executed by the Milestone Bridge department.

Richmond/ Portland

The R-42555 patching contract picked up just west of SR 1, where the RS-39784 contract left off, and stretched 19 miles ending at the state line. Milestone Richmond set/removed a total of 287,620 feet (55 miles) of metal barrier wall, strengthened the inside shoulder and paved 14,043 sys of HMA patching while crews outside the area completed 26,011 sys of PCCP patching and 5,715 sf of partial depth patching. The job included a grand total of 685,625 feet (130 miles) of metal barrier wall and 66,820 sys of patching between the two contracts. Thank you again to all who contributed, and a job well done! Milestone crews were on many other INDOT and private jobs this past year as well, including resurface jobs on US 27 in Richmond and from Richmond to Liberty. SR 38 in Henry Co was also resurfaced this year. We finished a storm drainage project for the Town of Centerville. We completed several private jobs for good customers including Boar’s Head in New Castle and Reid Health in Richmond. The quality of all the work in the area this year was top notch, and a big congratulations goes out to all crews!

VP/Area Manager, Milestone Indianapolis/Richmond/Portland To say that 2020 was an interesting year would be an understatement. We carried a nice backlog of work into 2020, and we worked aggressively during the winter months to secure more work. As the global pandemic intensified in March and stay-at-home orders were issued, we significantly cut our presence in the old Belmont office with the hope we would return in force soon. However, we were soon notified by INDOT that we had to abandon the Belmont property by June 1st. As such, we redirected our property search towards temporary office and shop space and began organizing a move. Fortunately, we found good options on Perimeter Road and Raymond Street, and in typical Milestone fashion, we came together and executed a plan to perfection. Bear in mind, this accelerated relocation occurred during unprecedented executive orders, and we still pulled it off SAFELY prior to the deadline! Kudos to everyone for the amazing teamwork it took to make this happen. If we have not met yet, please know we are looking forward to that day soon! Until then, blessings to all and be safe always!

The Indy area performed a tremendous amount of work in 2020. The following is a list of some the projects: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

NEW SHERMAN DRIVE ROUNDABOUT

This was only a partial list of projects we worked on in 2020. Some of the projects will carry over into 2021, and when combined with other new projects, it results in an impressive backlog of work to start the year strong. One notable 2021 project is our joint venture with Walsh Construction on the I-69 Section 6.5 project. This is the section of I-69 that ties into I-465 (the one that goes through our old office location) and will take until 2024 to complete. We have a lot of PCCP and HMA work on the books already as well as general and bridge work; however, we will continue to pursue more of each. The Indianapolis area is seeing a significant increase in local and state work as well as private work. We will have numerous opportunities to pick up fun and challenging projects.

Bridge Superintendent, Milestone Lafayette The I-65 Project had work at Manson-Colfax and Sugar Creek - both of which had several delays. Sugar Creek consisted of adding travel lanes to I-65 as well as the twin 260’ bridges over Sugar Creek. Gary Swank, Jake Emery, and Andrew Kennedy headed up the Sugar Creek crews with help from Simon Holzer and Corey Maxson to push through several obstacles and delays to reach completion. Manson-Colfax consists of replacing two bridges with a 272’ x 50’ 3-sided box. Crews built a new roadway on Manson Colfax, installed two MSE walls, and replaced the Southbound I-65 bridge with a new road over the 3-sided box this year. Gary Swank, Bill Flannery, and Andrew Kennedy led the Manson crews to get us through this phase of Mason-Colfax. We will return in the Spring to finish the NB Road construction.

Lafayette Area Project Superintendent RS-39328-A was a bundle job located in Montgomery, Fountain, and Putnam counties. The first phase of the project was SR 234 from Kingman to East County Line road. The second phase was US 231 from SR 32 to SR 234. The third phase was SR 234 from 47 through the town of Ladoga. This section also received cold in place recycling as well. The fourth phase was US 231 from SR 234 all the way to US 36. In all, there was over 67,000 tons of asphalt laid on all sections. There was also over 11,000 SY of patching done on the project as well. All the asphalt work and patching were performed by Mark Graham’s crew. In addition to the asphalt work, there were new ADA ramps installed in Crawfordsville and in Ladoga. Chris Shepard’s crew performed all the concrete work and Mark Will’s crew performed all the removals and prep work. In addition, INDOT picked a section of SR 234 E to coat in rapid asphalt emulsion or “RPE” for research purposes. In all, the project was challenging at times but a success overall. Special thanks to the crews and the plant personnel for a great season.

Hi Milestone Family and Happy Holidays! Well, I was just looking over my article from last year to help get the juices flowing to write this and just had to chuckle a little. Last year for 2019 I wrote in my opening statement “What a crazy-busy year!” Boy, I had no idea that 2020 would top last year in the “Crazy” category! I also wrote about the more things change, the more they stay the same. I think to an extent, at least when it comes to our Milestone Family and the work we do, 2020 showed that again. Even with all the additional struggles created in 2020 by the pandemic, our people once again rose to the challenge, made the necessary adjustments, and triumphed! No matter what gets thrown at us, we find a way to succeed, and that has everything to do with our great People and Culture! As I look back on how this year started (or almost didn’t start) it is hard to believe we had yet another great year! I am very thankful that our federal, state, and local leaders recognized that our industry is essential to our communities and Nation and we were allowed to work. I am even more thankful for all of you and the dedication,

perseverance, grit, and determination you all showed. It was not an easy year, but we should all be very proud of the work we were able to accomplish and more importantly the safe manner in which we were able to do it. All the financial success in the world means little if any of our people pay a price with their safety to achieve it. Thank You! As I wrap up, I will share with you part of my closing statement from last year. “Things will continue to change, let’s just keep producing the same great results!” Our industry and the challenges we face will always be changing but our people never cease to amaze, and we consistently find ways to rise up and succeed. Because of our People and Culture, I truly feel that this is the greatest organization to work for and I am proud to be a part of it with you all! Milestone understood during the bidding phase additional resources would be needed. Partnering up with Walsh & Kelly for a portion of the project would be critical to meeting deadlines. This would be the first project Milestone and Walsh & Kelly would work together on under the new HC&M structure. The team at Walsh & Kelly was eager to help. Parties from both Milestone and Walsh & Kelly met for multiple meetings to brainstorm the best way to divide work up to benefit both. Walsh & Kelley agreed to take the Pulaski County portion, and Milestone would take Newton and White Counties. Communication was open, and, ultimately, led to a very successful project for the HC&M team. A lot was learned on both sides, from the estimating to operations and accounting department while collaborating. Milestone would like to thank the Walsh & Kelly group and everyone involved for making this project go as smooth as it did.

2020 – What a Year for Wabash Valley Asphalt JOHN COLLETT

President, Wabash Valley Asphalt

Reflecting on 2020, a lot of us may be mentally and physically exhausted. Some would say what defines a crisis is the way we react to it, both from a tactical and emotional standpoint. There was a lot of uncertainty in our world, however, our achievements were amazing. We could have taken the attitude to “shelter in place” but instead we chose to adapt and thrive. It is not in our DNA to stand down or give up, and we are extremely proud of every one of our employees! Our priorities coming into the year were safety, job execution, community involvement, industry promotion, market growth, and maybe make a little money along the way. We have had a very safe and successful construction season. We were able to effectively deliver our projects while navigating the inherent dangers of our business and that is a testament to the team that we have built. In an effort to promote our industry, we partnered with the Terre Haute Children’s Museum to establish an “Under Construction Exhibit” that overlooks the new Terre Haute Convention center construction site. This exhibit exposes children (and their parents) to a possible career path into construction. We continue to advocate for growth in West Central Indiana. Recent initiatives have been related to the Terre Haute Casino along with infrastructure improvements to the associated SR46 corridor. We are also advocating for a possible Air Force, F-35 Training facility that would adjoin the Terre Haute Regional Airport. This would include significant infrastructure investment. We will continue to pursue all growth opportunities within the region and are very optimistic about the future. Speaking of the future – Bring on 2021!

Walsh & Kelly North Region Major Plant Improvements VP Production, Indiana North Heritage Construction JOHN PEISKER

Silos and storage are one of the keys to efficient and high-quality production of HMA. Over the past several years, the production at Walsh & Kelly’s Valparaiso plant has increased significantly, and the storage capacity of the silos was hindering efficiencies at the plant. Meanwhile it was determined that the three 200-ton silos at the Lowell plant were showing signs of their age. Silobot testing revealed that several areas in each silo wall had worn thin enough that significant lining and/or repairs were needed. It was determined that the best course of action was to install three new 300-ton silos at Valparaiso and move the Valparaiso silos to the Lowell plant. The new silos were installed in January 2020 at Valparaiso, and the Valparaiso silos were moved to Lowell and installed in February 2020. The move has improved production at both plants and now allows for long-term, overnight storage at Lowell, a capability which the old silos did not have. After drying and mixing over a million tons of HMA, the drum at Plant 22, Lafayette is due to be replaced. The new drum has already been manufactured by CMWF and will be delivered and installed this winter. The other major plant improvements to be taken on in the North Region this winter are replacements of both scales at Plant 22; an overhaul of the drag at Plant 23 in Veedersberg; an overhaul of the drag at the South Bend plant; and a replacement of one of the RAP bins at the Lowell plant. These improvements will help keep the quality and productivity of our plants high.

In 2016,The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District, with the support of the City of Champaign, the City of Urbana, and the University of Illinois, received a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery Grant (TIGER) for the construction of the Multimodal Corridor Enhancement (MCORE) project within the University District. The total cost for the project was approximately $47 million which includes the $15.7 million grant plus local matching funds estimated at $31.2 million. (UIUC - $3.6M; MTD - $4.3M; Urbana - $4.7M; Champaign - $18.6M). The MCORE project consisted of 5 individual projects of which the Champaign Asphalt Companies of Open Road Paving and Champaign Signal and Lighting had significant participation in all projects over several years. Each project consisted of major rehabilitation and reconstruction to rebuild the streets in and around the University of Illinois into multimodal complete street corridors to accommodate all modes of travel (bus, pedestrian, bike, and vehicle). In addition to the pavement improvements, other project benefits included improved bus capacity, improved sidewalks, new street lighting, and the addition of on-street bicycle lanes. Champaign Asphalt Company’s Project Manager, Jonathan Montgomery, spearheaded these projects with all participating agencies and worked very closely with Louis Braghini, the retiring 30+ year Engineering Technician III for the leading agency: The City of Champaign. Regarding the project, Lou stated “I am very proud of the relationship that the City of Champaign construction staff has with Open Road Paving Company. I would like to congratulate Open Road Paving Company for fantastic performance under extreme conditions on the MCORE P4 project. Safety: Eyes Wide Open JOE LAMB

Regional President, Construction Group

2020 brought with it a global health crisis that continues to confound the world as of this writing. As the pandemic exploded in March of this year, Champaign Asphalt embarked on a collaboration and consolidation of our safety core values and beliefs with the Heritage Construction Group as a whole. Without question, this initiative has made all of us at Champaign Asphalt better and more aware of the perils that confront us daily.

As “essential workers, there has developed a true awareness for the vital roles we play in our communities and the acute life or death consequences that result from an unsafe work environment.

As of this writing, Champaign Asphalt incurred only 2 recordables this construction season and is thankful to be sending all of our employees home to their families for the holidays.

Collectively, we have improved our safety culture and have encouraged dialogue and change when the safety of our team and the traveling public is in question in any way.

Happy Holidays from the Heritage Construction Division North Region.

Indiana North + South PRESIDENT LETTERS

Wow, it is hard to believe that another calendar year has come and gone. It was a year that most of us will never forget. But, as this great group of individuals always does, we pulled together as a unified team, meeting the challenges of the pandemic head on, protecting each other in a safe manner. Thank you to everyone for your patience, understanding, versatility, and ability to adapt to changing conditions on a minute’s notice during the past nine months. It speaks volumes to the quality of the individuals that make up this fantastic team. These types of efforts just do not come easy. It takes total commitment and dedication, sticking to both the personal and company core values that we talk about every day. What is truly amazing is that we battled through this year taking on the additional challenge of the pandemic while staying focused on safety, quality, and performance. These values were never altered, resulting in another great year. During the middle of this past year the exciting news of the Heritage Construction Materials Construction Division consolidation was announced. This consolidation opens so many opportunities for both personal and company growth, resource utilization, talent sharing, and streamlining of processes, just to mention a few benefits. With the consolidation comes change for some individuals. Several have taken on new roles and responsibilities. While change is not always easy, just like with the pandemic, it has been taken head-on across all the companies. It is truly phenomenal that this group can take on the challenge mid construction season and not lose focus of the safety of our employees or the quality of the product provided to our customer. Again, this speaks volume to the quality of all the individuals involved. Everyone remained focused on what is without a doubt our number one priority, the well- being of each employee on this team who sacrifice so much for us every day. Sure, there has been process and procedure changes that have either been introduced or are in the process of being implemented. While these may seem to be challenging, they will prove to be extremely beneficial. In the very new future, all companies will be unified, and we will be well on our way to a future full of opportunity like we have never seen before. The transition is on pace and the future is bright. What an amazing team that always stays focused!! Everyone has done a tremendous job this season. I want to thank each one of you for making this another successful season. During the winter shut down, relax, and enjoy your well-deserved time off. Have a safe holiday season! Happy Holidays from the Heritage Construction Division South Region. 2020 COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS

Greetings to all! As I write this article, it is mid-November and just about 60 degrees today. We generally have had a very awesome season weather-wise, and mild temperatures are hanging in there going into December. This will help us to have a good finish to the season. But what a season it has been! We are very blessed to have work to build… even through a pandemic. All this work has enabled us to have another very, very good year. I can see that Safety has been focused on very well this year. The number of recordables are down from last year as well as the number of line cuts… That tells me that Safety is in the forefront of our thinking. Then, you throw in managing our business with the coronavirus present, we have done well. Our crews, managers, and office staff have done well to watch the places we visit and play it safe by staying at home if one is feeling ill. So, thank you all for focusing hard on Safety and working through the pandemic. Furthermore, I did want to communicate the effort that we are making by bringing safety into the work zones. There is a committee, working through our association ICI, that includes key INDOT people that continue to meet and work together to define when to close roads, when to use barrier wall, when to use alternate routes etc. It is this kind of effort from many of you working with the associations and INDOT that will make our work zones safer…so keep up the good work. It truly is a journey, and we must be committed to make our work zones as safe as can be. The consolidation of our construction companies is making great progress. It is very important for our construction companies to be aligned and operating with consistent practices. This will make us stronger as a whole and will allow us to be more competitive in the long run. I do appreciate each one of you for assisting in this consolidation process. It is a little bit of change for the whole group but will be worth it. In my travels to our offices and jobsites, I am reminded just how big Indiana is. I was in Northern Indiana the second week in November and noticed how many roads we have and how much more we must do to keep the roads in good conditions across the state. The need for our business remains very strong, and much of the funding is in place to build the improvements we need to handle the amount of traffic we have today. So, I just want to thank all the families of our people who have worked long hours throughout the year and have sacrificed time with their families. We do have to go to where the work is, and that sometimes takes some travel time. But a big thank you to all our employees, our spouses, and our families for giving a special effort this year performing brilliantly on our projects, and in our plants and offices. May each one of you have a great holiday and enjoy time with your families. From my family to yours, have a very Merry Christmas. MARK THOMPSON

Even though there were many things we could not participate in because of COVID-19 we still found ways to give back to the communities that we work in during 2020. Early in the year our team came together to get a new coat of paint on the dining room at Wheeler Mission. It was greatly appreciated by the entire staff. Even though much of it had gone virtual we were able to support the local youth through the 4-H Program and auctions. It was different this year, but we were happy to help out where we could.

Milestone Indianapolis SCOTT CORNELIUS

VP/Area Manager, Milestone Indianapolis/Richmond/Portland Once again, the Indianapolis Area employees showed their generosity and commitment to the community by donating time, skills, clothes, cash, etc. Although COVID impacted a few of our traditional means of participating in the community, our employees found new and creative ways the show their generosity. The participants are too numerous to mention, but we need to acknowledge Cathy Wethington’s leadership in our community involvement efforts. Thank you, Cathy, and everyone else who participated in some way in 2020. Stay tuned for many more opportunities to participate in 2021! 2020 Heart and Sole Shoe Collection – Milestone partnered with the HC&M group and collected 2,142 pairs of shoes. HC&M was the winner with a record breaking 2,142 shoes collected. The winner’s prize was a park bench, and we donated it to the Town of Thorntown. We had a paving crew in the area this summer, so we paved an asphalt path to the bench location. # 1 Due to COVID, we were unable to serve lunch at the Wheeler Men’s Shelters, so we improvised… 160 sack lunches were assembled each week to drop off at the shelter. We did this for the months of March through June. Participation was significantly inspired by Blake Denisiuk, son of David Denisiuk, after he contributed $20 of his Easter basket goodies for the sack lunches! # 2

While dropping off the sack lunches at Wheeler, we noticed the alley behind the facility was riddled with potholes, so we sent a crew to the site to make repairs. We learned the Wheeler Women’s and Children’s Shelter was in desperate need of water, so we sent 10 cases to them. Donations in the amount $2,500 were sent to Wheeler, and $2,500 was sent to The Sharing Place. We participated in the “Miles for Meals” virtual race to benefit Wheeler Mission. Milestone employees purchased coping kits for Wheeler Mission’s Center for Women and Children. $1,863 was donated by Milestone employees to purchase the kits. We donated the asphalt for a new drive at the Wheeler Mission Higher Ground facility and one of our FOB customers, Elite Paving, paved it. We performed our 3rd annual fall cleanup at the Wheeler Mission Higher Ground facility. # 3 Employees sponsored hand sanitizer and masks for Wheeler Mission. # 4 We partnered with the IMPD Homeless Unit to provide critical supplies for the homeless this winter. We coordinated with our corporate partners and external business partners to seek additional participation. Along with great participation from Heritage companies, CMG, MAMCO and Morphey Construction made donations. # 5 As we closed out the year, employees volunteered to rehabilitate Wheeler Donation Barns. About one dozen barns needed varying levels of repair and a fresh coat of paint. The opportunity to participate was advertised, and our generous employees had claimed one or more barns to rehabilitate within 24 hours! This photo is an example prior to rehabilitation, and we will share photos of the completed work in the future. # 6

Milestone Richmond/Portland On November 2, a crew of Milestone employees from the Richmond and Portland areas put on their boots for some physical labor. The group volunteered for a “Fall Yard Clean Up” with LifeStream Services. That day, they were able to clean up the yards of TWELVE seniors in Richmond – who could not leave their homes or have someone to assist them. Volunteers consisted of Scott Hester, Wayne Jester, Bo Marcum, Bill Ketron, Dave Coon, Marquisha Williams, Michele Blackwell, Amy Hughes, Jeff Creech, Scott Cornelius, and Brian Atkinson. What a wonderful way to spread kindness to an at-risk community this year. G AT E WAY H U N G E R R E L I E F C E N T E R

Sue Eason, Gateway Hunger Relief Center US Aggregates and Milestone Contractors, two of Richmond’s “bedrock” companies, donated $5,000 to the Gateway Hunger Relief Center (GHRC), a community service outreach of Gateway Church located at 3361 State Route 227 N, Richmond. Since its inception over fifteen years ago, GHRC has been pouring food into to Wayne and Union County families. The goal of the Hunger Relief Center is to relieve hunger in an honorable and dignified manner to

surrounding neighborhoods. Hunger Relief Center wants to be a hand up not a handout. As one of Wayne County’s largest volunteer organizations, they create a culture of joy and hope. Our goal is to make our city strong. The GHRC is located at 711 Sheridan Street in Richmond. GHRC serves an average of 750 families each month. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the need has doubled for the center. In March alone, the Center served 1,243 families, which included of 357 first time clients. In March of 2020, US Aggregates generously donated driveway gravel to the GHRC. To assist in the project, Reynolds Service Tech of Fountain City, Indiana, hauled the gravel for free. The check was presented by Kari Reynolds, US Aggregates representative, and Scott Hester & Amy Hughes, Milestone’s representatives to Pastor Chris Monaghan on Friday, April 17th.

Concrete Superintendent, Milestone Lafayette I was approached about a traffic flow issue by the local Community Action Program at the nearby Head Start Center while visiting our Covington CCMG project. There was an obvious traffic issue that needed addressed, and we were glad to assist. Paul Mitcham’s crew were able to donate the work this fall. We painted Directional Traffic Arrows and received an appreciated letter from the Community Action Program of Western Indiana. This is a great example of the values we as a company are able to share with the communities we work in. Special thanks to Julie Schriber and Paul Mitcham for performing this work. Project Controls, Milestone Lafayette Beth Miller, Kim Strunk, Tommie Nelson, and Brittany Lee took empty ink toners to Office Depot and ended up with $180 in rewards. We put together 12 backpacks that included schools supplies for Miller Elementary School in Lafayette. The principal was so excited that he took a picture holding all 12 of the backpacks!

In addition to safety and the success of our projects, we are always active within the community. We have continued to make a difference. A new partnership with Hamilton Center has been very exciting. Hamilton Center is a not-for-profit regional behavioral health system in West Central Indiana that came to us to help start a “New Citizen Program” within our community. This program provides an employment opportunity for an individual who has been incarcerated and/or convicted of a felony. It focuses on career pathways and support with the intent of offering a new way of life. We successfully onboarded the first employee external to Hamilton Center and have provided a success story for other local businesses to consider. Volunteer work was a priority, and we were able to help the area food banks, soup kitchens and shelters deal with the increase in “business” due to the pandemic. We also continued to help the 14th and Chestnut Community Center that provides many services to underprivileged children.

Jonathon Montgomery, P.E., and his 4 sons spend their spare time restoring antique tractors and use them to spread joy in various parades throughout central Illinois. Restoring the antique tractors has become a labor of love for the Montgomery family. They are able to make others smile with the restoration projects – not to mention the candy they are able to throw to the parade spectators!

Champaign Asphalt adopted this local charity and helped to complete the $350,000 fundraising goal of its biggest fundraiser of the year – One Winter’s Night. Champaign Asphalt started a matching donations program and enticed others to join the campaign, allowing the fundraiser to exceed its goal and raise over $400,000 for the local homeless population. The Junior League of Champaign-Urbana (JLCU) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. This year’s Junior League Festival of Trees took place (virtually) November 20-22. Champaign Asphalt Company sponsored a tree, and our very own Colin McGill, and family, decorated the tree with a construction theme. Trees were raffled and auctioned off to raise money for all of the great community programs sponsored by the Junior League of Champaign Urbana.

2020 COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS

C-U at Home engages and mobilizes our community to house and support the most vulnerable homeless on their journey of healing and restoration. C-U at Home’s goal and purpose in the community goes far beyond the mission statement. Every day, we work to develop close, lasting relationships with our “friends without an address.” We make a conscious and intentional effort not to refer to those we serve as “homeless” due to the severely negative stereotype associated with that term.

Walsh & Kelly GREG HOFFMAN

Estimating Manager, Walsh & Kelly St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a charity that funds childhood cancer research. Due to COVID-19 they were forced to cancel their head-shaving charity event this year. Dave Misirly from our Griffith office took it upon himself to shave his head at home and asked people to contribute to the charity. He then challenged his co-workers to join him and “Brave the Shave”. Altogether, 28 Walsh & Kelly employees accepted the challenge and shaved their heads to raise awareness while raising money for the charity. In all, we were able to raise a total of $10,700.00. Great job, team!

Hard hats off to Joe Reyes’ paving crew! This young man was admiring our crew in Valpo. They took the time to stop what they were doing and give this young man a hard hat, safety vest and his own flag. This meant everything to this young man. It is easy to get lost in a world of production, production, production. It’s important to engage in the communities we work in – and we’re proud to work with teammates that go the extra mile like this. M I L E S T O N E L P. C O M
