The magical thing about theatre is that every performance is like a shadow. It’s there, then it’s gone. This season marks Flato Markham Theatre’s 30th year of bringing outstanding performers from around the world to Markham. For 30 years, the Theatre has built a well-deserved reputation for eclectic and electrifying entertainment. To help us celebrate, we’re showcasing great Canadian acts and bringing back some of our most popular performers. We will also feature some exciting new Canadian talent. We will have – jazz, comedy, Celtic, magic, dance and much more. Flato Markham Theatre brings the world to us. Join the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony for an evening of elegant Viennese waltzes, disguises, deception, and hilarity, as they perform overture and aria highlights from Johann Strauss II’s famous operetta Die Fledermaus. This popular comedic work premiered in 1874 in Vienna and has captured audiences since with its themes of loyalty, revenge, and mistaken identity. Watch history come to life! Experience the story of the War of 1812 through authentic Aboriginal dance, music and multi-media images from the perspective of the First Nations warriors. The Honouring pays homage to their personal sacrifice to protect Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) sovereignty, culture and land. It shares the story of Canadian history when all First Nations took part in the War of 1812 as sovereign Nation allies to Britain. The soundtrack is filled with traditional based Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) songs, vocables (traditional chanting), the traditional water drum, powwow vocals, calls, underlining piano and guitar. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 8 pm After 50 years of touring, The Irish Rovers are saying farewell to roving with one more spin in the spotlight. The Canadian folk band that rose to international fame in the 1960’s with ‘The Unicorn’ and ‘Whiskey on a Sunday,’ and then were back on popular radio years later with ‘Wasn’t That a Party,’ have embarked on their final international tour. With roots in Northern Ireland, the band formed in Toronto in 1963. They established themselves as Canadian icons in the 1970’s with the help of a popular variety show that ran for six seasons on the CBC. Founding member George Millar says that while he won’t miss the grind of touring, he will miss playing shows, which he calls the “prize” at the end of a long day of traveling.

He’s been called Canada’s answer to George Strait, and his distinctive sound and song writing ability is what defines Gord Bamford as one of country music’s best neo-traditional artists.
