I
conic, Legendary, Trailblazer. These are the words I would use to describe an icon. And the words I use to describe our cover girl, Maya. To be a true icon, one has to establish some sort of recognition, a legacy, and a blueprint for the ones after to follow. Once that has been achieved, you must maintain your own path, and uphold the values you’ve set for yourself. But we, unfortunately, live in a world where ANYONE can be deemed “legendary” just for having a song go number one. The number of followers they have. Or even how many likes their latest “onlyfans” video received. In this case, our ICON is more than meets the eye. So it’s no secret, or maybe it is... FLAWZ is growing and thriving at such an alarming rate, that our issues are taking more time to perfect, and collectively pull together. But here we are, with issue 08. This issue we wanted to pay HOMAGE, to a real trailblazer. Who’s style, beauty, and real-life story have set the path for those to follow and learn from. FLAWZ is more than just fashion. I wanted to create a magazine, focused on the imperfections of not just the fashion industry and its beauty, but to shine a much-needed light on black beauty, the LGBTQIA community, positive body image, and giving a voice to those who may not have had one in the first place. And with those voices, come experiences, lessons, heartache, and joy that we all can learn from.
But this is nonetheless a fashion magazine. And the last few months… hell the last year, has been a drought of inspiration and fashion in the industry. That said we wanted a flourish of HIGH FASHION and HIGH GLAM. Which had me thinking, something that has been weighing on my mind for a while now. The lack of HIGH fashion missing from SecondLife. I, being someone who constantly is thinking of new ideas for SL, came up with one. Here’s a hint, it has something to do with fashion shows and events. It’s time to bring back (from what I’ve been told use to happen) FUN to SL!
08
Urban fashion is taking over SecondLife this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s taken forms of creativity. The lack of ready-to fashion, and haute couture pieces, has p who not only love, and appreciate the cre limited them to only create what “sells” th creative process will allow. That’s like g only one color crayon to use on a pictur letting that child’s imagination with color, a explode. As a community, we must push itations we hold on ourselves. And with a Second Life, we have an unlimited, and amount of creative outlets to choose fro includes fashion, art, and music. I want u to a point where, we’re not worried about what’s “on-trend”. But how far our creativ tion takes us. And most importantly I wa back to FUN!

elcome to the second-anniversary issue of Flawz Magazine! With this issue, we wanted to celebrate creators and photographers that have made an ICONIC impact on the virtual world of Second Life! So what makes an icon? Being an icon is a title that is not given lightly. Many people have had to make a significant impact on society or have gone through a significant struggle in their lives in order to be elevated to reach this status. For this issue, we wanted to showcase creators and artists on the Second Life platform who have made that significant impact in our community. With fashion, we showcase both real-life and Second Life content creators who are icons in their craft. With this issue, we are beginning a new era of sorts. For the theme of this issue, we wanted to present Icon, fashion on FASHION! We asked our photographers and creators to create artistic and breathtaking content that represents them and their artistry. Beginning with this issue it's only fitting that a change was needed. In order to do that we needed to add a person who has experience in the fashion and beauty industry and has made a significant impact within it. We are proud to introduce Maya Reyes as she joins Flawz Magazine as the new Editor At Large. Maya Reyes has been an icon in the Second Life community for almost 10 years and has represented numerous well-known brands on the platform most notably Ison, Vive Nine, Rebel Gal, Rowne, and others to name a few. She has also been featured since day one in the iconic Second Life magazine “Ferosh” by Absinthe Holloway. In real life, she is one of the most sought-after makeup artists and represents brands such as Sensorium Beauty by fellow drag queen and makeup artist Alexis Stone and has created stunning and editorial content for both real life and Second Life. With this issue, we hope you enjoy the ICONIC presentations and content by our fellow photographers and creators. Be sure to read our interview with Maya and as always thank you!

et me just say that working on this magazine has always been a passion of mine. I can’t believe that this issue marks our two-year anniversary. Time truly does fly. With that being said, I am so honored to be able to share this issue with all of you. Gracing our cover is the iconic, Maya Reyes. Not only is she our cover girl, but she also joins us as our fourth official editor of FLAWZ Magazine. When I first met with Maya, I wanted to get to know her both on a personal and artistic level. We talked for hours about fashion, art, pop culture, real-life events, politics, ideologies, etc. It was an absolute pleasure working with her for this 8th publication. When we first embarked on creating a Second Life magazine two years ago, our message behind it all was and still is, that flaws are important, the weird, couture, and avant-garde should be a celebration and not something to be ashamed of, and that all forms of expression and creativity are crucial for innovation to take place. I can’t express how much fun I had working on this issue, and Maya is truly someone who deserves the recognition because you don’t come across rare artists like her very often. I hope that you, our wonderful readers, are inspired to always want to achieve the highest level of style, aesthetic, and creativity that you can. Don’t be afraid to explore or experiment with different mediums or styles, whether it has to do with fashion, art, or both. Without further ado, here is the ICONIC 8th issue of Flawz Magazine.

s a new member of Flawz Magazine, I’m honored to be on the cover of the “Icon” issue. I’ve been in Second Life for almost ten years and never thought that something of the sort would happen. This cover and editorials are very special to me because – thanks to incredibly talented Venus – it eliminates the line between real life & Second Life. My avatar was – and still is – my best friend in a way since day one. The amount of time I spent perfecting the look & putting outfits together – now it all finally makes sense. Second Life has been my escape from harsh reality & in a lot of ways became an educational platform. This place is very dear to my heart & I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for Second Life. I’ve always dreamt to work for a magazine ever since I started blogging. Fashion is definitely something I’m obsessed with and I was so excited to meet the Flawz team who understands my obsession. Being surrounded by extremely creative people who are passionate about something you love as well is truly a dream come true. With my position in this collective, I hope to contribute nothing but fierce energy, creative vision & stunning editorials in my signature style. Flawz Magazine is truly one of a kind. Prepare yourself, because what you’re about to see has never been done before. Enjoy.

Venus: Hi Maya! It’s so great to meet you! How have you been? Maya: Hi Venus! Nice to meet you too! Good! I’m so excited talking to you, I’m such a fan. Venus: Thank you, Maya, the feeling is mutual. I’ve been following you and your artistic journey for a couple of years now actually and it’s so great to get to sit down with you. Well, I think I should start by asking you how you’ve been this past year what with everything that has happened with Covid and the chaos that we all felt from it? Maya: Aww, thank you. I’ve been following you for a hot second as well and I am obsessed with everything that you do. Honestly, 2020 messed me up in so many ways. As a person that been struggling with mental health ever since I was 14, this pandemic really challenged my patience. Especially after having such a nice year full of exciting events before. So many demons that I thought were gone for good came back to life. It was tough. As a matter of fact, I’m still recovering from everything. Makeup & drag definitely helped me a lot to pull through all of that darkness. Venus: Well thank you so much, and I’m very sorry to hear that you were dealing with those kinds of struggles because I can 100% relate to that. It was so bizarre what occurred this past year and for many more, life-changing, but I have hope that little by little the world can regenerate itself to a better state of being. With that being said, I must ask you, how did the iconic Maya Reyes find her way into Second Life? Maya: I used to play The Sims 2 a lot back in the day (still do!) & would look for Lady Gaga outfits for my Gaga sim. So I stumbled upon Jourdan McMillan’s (who is the owner of Rebel Gal & Bold & Beauty) creations. I asked him if he could give me some of his outfits. We started talking on Skype & then he showed me Second Life. I was like: “What is that? Looks pretty cool, yet scary.” So he told me about this online platform and basically made me create an account. And since that moment – it’s been one crazy journey, let me tell you that. We’re still friends to this day. Venus: Thats awesome! I think we all had that one friend that helped us get started on Second Life so that is very sweet to hear. (Also we live for Gaga outfits on the Sims haha) Well, I have to ask because since you’ve been on Second Life, you have made quite a name and lane for yourself in the fashion world on here. What inspires your fashion/style?

Maya: Aw, thank you so much. I just love fashion. I love street fashion, couture & such. I was very inspired by Vogue Magazine & Harper’s Bazaar back in the day. I’d get every issue to check the trends & get inspiration for my blog. I’d pull a lot of inspiration from fashion-related blogs on Tumblr. I love Instagram bloggers. I just like that “clean” aesthetic. People like Jess Hunt, Sonya Esman used to (and still do) inspire my blog a lot. When it comes to something more editorial – I love fashion houses like Mugler, Schiaparelli, Alexander McQueen (Lee’s designs mostly), etc. I get inspired a lot by Thierry Mugler’s photography. Serge Lutens, David LaChapelle, Jean-Paul Goude also mean the world to me. And – of course – I can’t forget about Lady Gaga. I think she was the first person that introduced me to some crazy fashion pieces. I used to love watching her appear at events & performances wearing the most outrageous pieces. Iconic. Venus: It brings a smile to my face to read that because that resonates with me on many levels too, and I can see all of those artistic influences in your work whenever I see what you’ve created through the years. Also, Maya, You’re known for your unique style, how did you get into photography and fashion on Second Life? Maya: I remember being obsessed with Justyna Magne (Just Magnetized). The way she’d put outfits together. All the layouts, cutouts for every look – I was so inspired by all of that & wanted to do something similar. And many other SL bloggers. Mia Rebane is one of my faves, I love her so much. I just loved the idea of blogging and what have you, and I believe that that was what started it all. After a lot of practice, hundreds of outfits & pictures later I managed to find that exact style that felt like “mine”. Venus: Oh yes! I can see that being a wonderful source of inspiration for you, and it shows in your work from the initial details to the execution of your art. And ALSO, you also happen to be a creator as well on here! How did you come up with your brand/store called FASHIONISM? And what can we expect from your store in the future? Maya: Yes, I am! I think, the store came naturally. I always wanted to create things in SL. And since I’ve been hanging with Jourdan so much, he kinda taught me the basics. Since I was blogging a lot, I found myself looking for certain accessories but I couldn’t find them. So I slowly started creating things that I felt I needed to complete the outfits. And slowly but surely I built a small brand that is based on the things that I like. What can you expect next? Well, expect the unexpected! You never know what I choose to create next. Venus: I love that! I just remember being infatuated by your branding and the design of it. Your color palette and the name its-self “FASHIONISM” just instantly caught my attention. And I appreciate the need to create something you want when it is lacking in Second Life. Truly a needed quality for creators to have in my opinion. Now speaking of color palettes, or more specifically colors, I couldn’t help but notice that you have an infatuation with the color red. Why might that be?
24
25
26
27
Maya: I always loved the color red. It’s such a powerful, mysterious, sexy & comfortable color. It means a lot to me. Growing up, I always wanted to rock red lipstick & nails but wasn’t allowed to. So a few years later I just had to make it my “signature” color, if you will. I’m also a huge fan of Twin Peaks & David Lynch. The Red Room concept is inspired by the waiting room from Twin Peaks. It’s a headspace where all the ideas, emotions & memories live, as well as some of the characters. It’s a color of blood, the color of life. Venus: That’s fascinating, and I think people forget the power and allure that color can have on the mind, body, and soul, especially red. Now because colors and fashion go hand in hand along with art, I wanted to ask you about some of your other passions. I understand in real life you are a makeup artist, did this inspire your journey into drag? Maya: It’s the other way around. I was always inspired by showgirl & drag makeup. I started watching RuPaul’s Drag Race back in 2014 and that was the year I kinda started wearing makeup pretty much daily. My brows were coal-black & very high up. I’d do like a very pale face and wipe my lips clean from any foundation. My lips are naturally very vibrant so I didn’t really need any lipstick. So I was giving a very vampy/gothy type of vibe. And two years later I got into a makeup school which seemed pretty boring to me. I wanted something bright & exciting. And we were doing somewhat bridal-like makeup. So after finished it I continued experimenting with makeup & slowly got into doing drag makeup. Venus: That’s so amazing! Well, I learned something new about you now haha. Seeing as you have an understanding of the world of drag, what are your thoughts on the current state of drag? And are you happy with the recent inclusivity we are seeing in the world of drag as it pertains to being accepting of all forms of drag regardless of gender? Maya: I see drag as an art form. I believe it’s a way of self-expression and is for everyone. I absolutely love that nowadays we see more & more drag artists in pop culture and what have you. All shapes & forms. I think it’s so beautiful. Black or white, gay or straight - anyone can do drag!
28
Venus: I couldn’t agree more. It’s a new era and drag, like many things, is ever-evolving. That brings me to my next question, because we are talking about inclusivity as it pertains to everything to do with gender and the LGBTQIA community, I think many of our readers would love to know your experience of what it is like being a Trans-woman in a country where being LGBTQIA is not fully supported? Maya: It’s hard. There’s a lot of stigmas. There’s no media coverage regarding gay/trans rights. There are no laws regarding LGBTQIA+ people protection. Being gay/trans here is technically illegal. It’s “propaganda” that has to be eliminated. I don’t know if it’ll ever change. A lot of people say that it’s the fault of society. But the thing is, I believe that if the government would start changing things, people wouldn’t have a choice but to change their view on the thing. It all starts with a change. Radical or not. We have a very strong and resilient community. And no matter what - bashing, shaming, outlawing - we’ll stand strong. Cus that’s who we are. And people should be allowed to express their truth. Venus: I’m very sorry to hear that, and you know, we talked earlier, we both share those similarities in our country of birth. It’s something I am familiar with as well as I hear you tell me about these things. So I want to know from your point of you where you are, do you think things have the potential to change for the LGBTQIA community over there? Maya: Yes, we did. And I can’t believe that in 2021 we still have to fight for basic human rights. Will things change? Who knows. 2020 showed all of us yet again how unpredictable life is. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. Only time will tell.

Venus: I feel that as well. We have seen things improving for our community as the decades have passed, but of course, we both know there is still much work to be done. Especially for the future generations to come, long after we’re gone. Venus: Now, Maya, I want to discuss something that many may find controversial but we’re going to dive into it differently, and it is the subject of you having a black presenting avatar even though you are white in Real Life. What inspired this decision for you to have a black woman as your avatar on Second Life? Maya: I’m a huge fan of Grace Jones, thanks to my SL friend, she introduced me to her music. Not only her looks and artistry inspired my avatar, but also my drag and makeup. Also back in 2013 I was going through Tumblr blogs and I stumbled upon Grace Bol & I just fell in love with her beauty. I knew on the spot I’d love to have an avatar that looks like her. Later on, I discovered models such as Alek Wek, Ajuma Nasanyana, Ataui Deng. They also inspired the look of my avatar a lot. I just find them incredibly beautiful. Yes, I am white in real life but I hope I portray my avatar in the most flattering way. Venus: I think I can say with certainty that you have always portrayed your avatars in a positive and respectful light. Every post you’ve ever published was simply showcasing the beauty of black women from your point of view and we think you did a marvelous job at showcasing that. And yes! Grace Jones and Grace Bol are such iconic women in the fashion world so I can see how that inspired your avatar on Second Life. Venus: Something I also want to touch on with you Maya is that you were once part of a music video Russian Vogue created where LGBTQIA, art, and ballroom were celebrated. What was that experience like? Maya: mething of that sort - I think, it’s very cool. It was amazing! I vividly remember every single moment, every single second of that day. It was very exhausting but totally worth it. For the first time in my life, I felt like a true diva. Also, buying every issue & being a big fan of the magazine growing up - it was just a full-circle moment for me. Venus: I remember gagging when I saw you in that video. It was just immaculate and such a treat to see something like that come out of Russia and it was a glamorous production! One thing I believe people would want to know about you is how do you stay inspired and what things stimulate your creativity? Maya: I just have an infinite love for glamour. I love dressing up, putting on makeup, transforming into different characters. I’m constantly inspired by all things. Music, fashion, nature, makeup, drag culture, etc. I just love being able to transform.

Venus: Absolutely! Then I definitely want to know your opinion on if you think Second Life over the last decade has advanced in fashion and innovation? Maya: Oh definitely. It’s so different from what it was back in the day and I’m so happy to see it evolving. Mesh bodies, bake on mesh, new creators & creations. I’m so happy that years later SL keeps on evolving & elevating. I’m so excited to see what the future brings. Venus: Very true, and If it were up to you, what would you like to see from creators moving forward? How do you see Second Life elevating itself in the art/fashion part of the grid? Maya: I say more couture! We have to bring the fashion back to SL. I’d love to see brands doing fashion shows and such. Can you imagine how cool that would be? I just want more fashion and art-related events in SL. I mean with all of those meshes and new abilities - anything is possible. Venus: From your mouth to god’s ears lol. It would be so wonderful to have another rebirth of haute couture and avant-garde fashions on Second Life and luckily we’ve been seeing a resurgence of that in the last 5 years or so. So the sky is the limit. Of course Maya, I’d love to know from you, are you excited to be our 4th addition to the editor’s team at Flawz Magazine? Maya: To be honest, I’m very excited. I’ve always wanted to be a part of a creative collective and especially a part of a magazine creative team. I said it a million times by now, but I live & breathe fashion & creativity so being surrounded by people that think alike is truly a blessing of fashion gods. Venus: Let me just tell you, Maya, we couldn’t be more honored and happy to have you be a part of the Flaws Magazine Team! Finally Maya, what exciting things can we expect from you in the future? Maya: I’m constantly trying to do new things. Regarding SL - I’ll try my best to continue blessing you with my lookbooks & collages. New accessories are definitely on their way. When it comes to RL: I’ll say - more video content. Something special is definitely in the works. I’d love to do an exhibition one day with some of my RL works. As I said earlier expect the unexpected. My creative drive is so chaotic, I never know what will be my next project. (edited) Venus: I think I can speak for many of us who say we’re very excited to see what you come up with to showcase in the future, and we will stay tuned for that. Maya, this was such a pleasure to not only get to talk to you today and interview you, but to have gotten to know you as a whole person and the artist that you are. Welcome to the team! Maya: Thank you so much for having me! I’m so excited to be a part of Flawz Magazine.

I have to admit this theme was hard but rewarding for me in a sense. Growing up as an intersex person, it was confusion because I was always told to be a woman. But my body was different than what it was. It was only in the past years that I finally was able to be who I am. My true self is being able to shapeshift but stay in my roots of creating pop, as well as, abstract art.

MODERN DAY VINTAGE
I'm Carolina Schoen, a Second Life fashion and beauty blogger. In 2018 I started my blog titled, MeshedGal and have been blogging ever since. I love fashion, photography, composition, and styling. There are so many amazing creations in Second Life to be inspired by and putting together all the elements that create a final image is super thrilling. For this editorial, I found inspiration in the vintage fashion-glamour era and reimagined it with a modern twist, using contrasting colors and playing with similar styling choices and silhouettes throughout.

Hello hello! I’m Azonique but most call me Zo. I’m a college student offline but on Second Life I blog for a few stores and do photography when I’m not hanging out with my family. When I first saw the theme for this issue’s shoot I found myself overthinking a bit on how to do it justice, honestly. After shifting my initial focus from the intricacy of the looks, I did my best to showcase myself and my style in my photos. My primary inspiration was a combination of my identity as non-binary with my love of dynamic and simple yet elevated photos.

THE LADY IS A DEVIL
"Ever since I was a small child, I've always been the one that stood out, the one that hated unfair and unjustice in the system, the one that almost stood up for the ones that couldn't stand up for themselves, and the one that ALWAYS started trouble.
CRUELLA DE VIL
So, many people wonder why the Cruella De Vil character, why her? I could have been myself (even though I am, but I throw some extra flair with a side of villainess to it) or anyone else. Let me explain. When I first started my Second Life adventure, I was always doing characters, Sailor Moon to Mystique, but something just attracted me to the disney fur-loving puppy-stealing darling herself, Cruella De Vil, and it was not just her being a villain (obviously) but her being a fashion icon, designer, and a creative genius. All of these attributes and talents about her is something that speaks to me on a very personal level, also, I've always been seen as a villain outside of Second Life too, and you know, people need a villain to believe in, and I am happy to fit the bill. But yes, Cruella De Vil for me is not just about being another disney villain, it's more than that, its about confidence, and being proud of my artwork and the amount of work I put into it. My flickr has always contained mostly villains, it's something I've enjoyed doing because villains never usually win, or get highlighted, we as a society NEVER dare to root for a villain because then we'll be seen as weird or messed up, and trust me, I don't root for Cruella De Vil stealing puppies for their fur's, but I root for her confidence, and her style, she is a fashion icon, and will always be one. So, my last words is a huge thanks to the Flawz team for inviting me to this issue. This issue was obviously up my alley, so I just had to do a photo. I can only see this issue as a new chapter for me, since I am leaving everything negative behind me, take care darlings."

BABYLON
This is the kind of thing I live for, you see. I knew that with this theme of, ICON, Fashion on FASHION, it would need to be something memorable, and for some reason, when it came to this, I couldn’t get Lady Gaga’s song ‘Babylon’ out of my head. Well thats how I came up with the editorials you’re about to see. These pieces are what I imagine the music video for Babylon would look like if it existed. So in a sense, these are concept pieces turned editorial.

COULD IT BE DONE?
I’m
extremely bored and exhausted. This past fashion season has left me, and other fashion insiders, falling asleep from boredom. And it’s no fault of their own. With everything we’ve been through, from COVID, the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, being under quarantine, and the fashion season being pushed back and shows now being exclusively via live stream. It’s no wonder why most of us are dying for....something! The same could be said for SecondLife. Now granted, there are no “fashion seasons” or shows that take place, but the ability to have one is there. Which begs one of the questions, why isn’t there a fashion week for SecondLife? The second question is something I’ve been questioning for a while since I came to SL. SecondLife is heavily inspired by “urban” and street style fashion. It drives the RL industry, with so many brands now branching into this style of clothing. The industry has ALWAYS paid close attention to what was happening on the streets more, than anywhere else. But what’s been lacking, when it comes to SecondLife, is the lack of attention to high fashion. So the question, why isn’t high fashion getting the attention on Second Life?
136
When it comes to having a “fashion week” on SL, the REAL question is, could it be done? Could we have a week of shows from certain designers? Who put together a choreographed show, with models, music, and a working runway? The long and short answer is... YES! It could be done. So.... why hasn’t it? If we know anything about Second Life when it comes to MOST (yes I said most) creators, their timing and reliability are to be questioned. Now that’s not to say, that ALL creators are unreliable or bad with keeping a set date when releasing anything. But if you ever had anything custom made, unless that creator is fully focused on your item, you can expect to receive that item or items, in a couple of weeks. If THAT! Add that to having to create a whole collection. For the sake of this being SL, that could intel a collection consisting of entirely 10 to 20 pieces. Yes, I said 10 to 20. Most don’t even put out 10 pieces in one single year, let alone at one time. So that would have to be taken into consideration. The collection would need to be cohesive. With models needing to be cast. Styling of the collection, hair, make-up. Having models of all shapes and sizes. Deciding if this will be a Men’s collection, Women’s, unisex, or genderless. And making sure it is rehearsed over and over again, to music and timing. All of that goes into a decent show!
THE HINDRANCE
The ONLY setback, in making this possible, would be Events. Not necessarily a “hindrance”, but having to have your products ready by a set event date, would hinder the time you would need, put into a fashion show. Now, again could it still be done? Yes! Now, what I’m about to say, you HEARD IT HERE FIRST! So mark this date. What if events, became more like fashion seasons. In RL, there are (for the most part) 3 seasons, each year. You have autumn/winter, spring/summer, and couture. With that, you have Men’s and Women’s. Some designers also have pre-fall collections and resort. For SL, there could be autumn/winter looks and spring/summer looks. After the shows, each creator could choose what looks would be shown at each event. That way, they would have content to give, and not have to worry about creating anything new, until the next season comes about. Great idea right? Yea remember who came up with the idea! This could be a great way for creators to show off their creative genius and segway into giving us more high-end pieces. This would be a new and exciting method for creators to think outside the box, and take their time in perfecting their vision of a collection. Collaborating with other creators, fashion magazines like....oh say FLAWZ, and ultimately bring FUN back to SecondLife. But with all that said, I’m not expecting ALL creators to do a show or to step outside their limitations. That would be wishful thinking, but what I am hoping (if this does come to flourishing) I would LOVE to see creators dive into creating more lux pieces. And ultimately having a couture fashion experience.

THERE’S HOPE AFTER ALL
WHATS IT GOING TO TAKE?
If this was to happen. Creators are going to have to really and honestly pay attention to fashion. And not what Rihanna, Kim, Kylie, Beyoncé, or their favorite rapper is wearing. Being able to invest in, and gain knowledge of what’s going on in fashion, would help any creator who wants to take their store to greater levels. Now is this for EVER creator? No! Not at all. Street style is needed. But for those who feel they could venture into this lane, should.
There could just be some hope yet. As I said before I’ve notice pieces being pulled and re-created on SecondLife, and for the most part, has been selling. The demand is THERE! And the thirst for new shapes and styles is ready to be worn and explored. The hope comes in the form of more creators, pushing for more meshes, and breaking out of “easy” go-to urban pieces. I mean, if I see ONE MORE bathing suit in the middle of November, or yet ANOTHER Telfar “inspired” bag, I just might pull out someone’s hair. Complacency seems to run rampant on SL.... but, never fear. There are a select few who have ventured off this beaten path of complacency. And no these aren’t creators who aren’t with “the times”, the complete opposite can be said for these creators. They’re actually blazing their OWN path, and others seem to be following suit.
What would need to happen, first; ask yourself what you want to show. We’re not expecting, an elaborate avant-garde piece. More, Schiaparelli, Mulger, Thom Browne. But by all means, if Comme des Garçon, Maison Margiela, Iris Van Herpen is more your direction, go for it. But start slow. What I’ve come to understand, as much as SL wants to be known for being “fashion-forward”. It’s stuck in “playing it safe”. Primarily due to the laziness of creators, and meshes not being taken to a higher level than just the basics. But this is, after all, SecondLife. If hair can move, body parts could be made to bounce and jiggle. Why can’t meshes be made to fit the client's demands? Or is it again the lack of will to do so? I’m guessing because I don’t know from experience. That creating meshes isn’t as easy as I think or would like it to be. So that could be a reason... I’m still learning on the latter, that some aren’t just that inspired. And the crazy part is.... most of their pieces are inspired by, high-end brands. I’ve seen so many creators re-create pieces from Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton has always been an easy go-to, Chanel, Gucci, and Telfar to name a few. So the notion that high fashion or even couture couldn’t be achieved is far-fetched.

TRENDZ: Summer Trends Real Life and Second Life 2021
IF there’s been one fashion lesson learned during lockdown, it’s that personal style never disappears in difficult times. The complete opposite happens. Style is universal and timeless. Even in the midst of what’s going on. We may be Zoom-ing or Skype-ing, but many fashion lovers are still getting dressed to celebrate the joys of clothing. The Spring shows took on a more “virtual” experience, provided plenty of inspiration for how to update our wardrobe at home. I for one, and I’m sure others can agree, we miss IRL fashion shows intensely-even thinking about the chaos of inching through traffic from one show to the next sparks wistful nostalgia. Designers we love are certainly make the case for trying something lively and fresh. From Spectacledchic’s roomy bohemian Nath shirt dress, to Introvert’s body-con dresses.

Plenty of other designers agree that a long leg is the best silhouette of the season. Osmia gave us matching tops and prints to show off those long legs.

GOD’S PLAN
I've been down with Flawz from the moment the announcement was given to me about the site. I send nothing but love to the creators because they've always supported me and my artistic growth from when I was forgetting to correct certain things on my edits; leaving obvious marks that needed to be edited and corrected - to perfecting my pictures down to every detail. Now that time has passed, it seems like I've only gotten better with my art, because now I've learned to render. I'm not really sure about what God has planned for me when it comes to my artistic lifestyle and my creativity; but all I aim is to put my Momma in a mansion before I leave this world. I don't even know where I'm going with any of this, but I just felt like the viewers of Flawz needed to hear an update on my artistic wellbeing. My life has changed for the better, and my art is improving along with it. Hopefully I can actually put my hands onto some shit in real life, and not just virtual art, because someway somehow... I know I thrive off of art in the real world. I just have to go with the flow, and see where God takes me with Him.
