There is no ‘we’ in chocolate This fine flower is a real eye-catcher thanks to its colour but it can do more! The Cosmos Black Beauty smells like real chocolate. Perfect for a mini bouquet against heartbreak.

BLOEMEN VAN

The combination of flowers is heading into a completely different direction this autumn. Esmeralda Green Show is twisting and turning its way over the delicate hydrangea and fresh Anethum. Organic and remarkable.

6 FlowerTales September/ October ’19

Like making combinations? A dark coloured, robust plant is your go-to product this season. Mix this ficus with soft colour tones to give depth to the combination. The flowerless Vriesea and the Cambria Tropic Jungle are extraordinary yet very natural.

The holiday collection of Pure Solas has a touch of French elegance! Dazzling yet refined glassware, colours such as powder pink and silver and a lot of bling. It’s a true festival of lights. The glass hanging ornaments are the perfect size to hold small valuable objects, such as a lock of hair. Or fill them with a twig of eucalyptus or cranberries for an instant Holiday atmosphere.

Enjoy the last stretch of summer with colour

Drying flowers is a process that requires speed. The flowers can’t get the chance to wilt any more. The best place to dry them is in a warm, dry and dark room. This way of drying flowers is simple and ecofriendly.

1 It may seem a waste but cut or pick the flower when it’s at its prettiest. After all, this is the look of the flower you want to preserve. It’s best to do this in the morning.

2 Remove any excess foliage from the stem and use rope or wire to tie little bunches of the flowers. .

3 Hang them upside down from a beam or tie a rope across where you can attach the bunches to.

4 When the foliage feel brittle after weeks of hanging and sound crispy when you touch them, your homemade dried flowers are ready!

Depending on the size and thickness of the flowers, it can take one to eight weeks before they are completely dried. No time to be patient? You can also buy them ready-made in the webshop. Tip from me: the best moments to pick flowers outside is early morning. The sun and the warmth haven’t had the chance to evaporate the moisture from the flower yet. At this time of day, most of the water is still in the flower stem. It allows the flower to survive longer, after you’ve picked it.

Not everyone in this world is celebrating Christmas in the snow. Urban Tane brings warmth this Christmas, the colours remind me of pictures of the South American landscape with its dusty, red soil. Opt for baubles with animal print and bright colours for a finishing touch.

FLOWERS IN That’s interesting: bright, clear colours mixed with matte autumn tones, such as orangebrown and olive green! My favourite lily is the Kaveri and the pastel dyed gyp is also a keeper this season.

You would expect it featured in Pure Solas but a package, such as Bright Vivid makes the Avalanche+® rose truly come to life! This statement rose is suitable for any occasion.

We can’t and won’t do without them anymore: the dyed Echeveria mixes. Just as colourful are the Begonia rex, calla and the Anthurium. Did you know that this variety goes by the wonderful name Million Flowers Red?

MORE OCTOBER ‘19 The first real autumn month. Some people already have in mind what they want to cook for Christmas dinner. Not for me, much too soon if you ask me! I’d rather take my time to prepare for the Holiday madness and the rush, which already starts in November. It allows us to create an easy start of autumn. Don’t you agree?
