THE CYCLAMEN The cyclamen has known many different meanings in history. In the 16th century, the cyclamen was the symbol of Maria’s bleeding heart. A beautiful and romantic reference that suits the cyclamen well. It’s a modest plant to give and available in many different colours. USFUL TIPS FOR CONSUMERS: The cyclamen likes a cool spot without direct sunlight. When a cyclamen is placed in a cool environment it will ensure long continued flowering. The plant indicates when it needs water by drooping a bit. With a bit of love and care, cyclamens will last you a very long time.

HOUSEPLANT OF THE MONTH FOR DECEMBER THE AMARYLLIS A story to share - Impossible love Amaryllis was an enchanting girl. Her mahogany curls danced around her beautiful face with every step she took. Her blushing cheeks and almond eyes captivated many men’s hearts. Amaryllis lived at the foot of a mountain and loved her daily walk taking deep breaths of the scents of the fresh grass and flowers that grew on the mountain. One day she met a shepherd named Alteo. She fell in love from the moment she laid eyes on this tall, raw man with his tanned skin. Alteo however, only had eyes for the flowers she’d picked and was holding in her hands. ‘The woman who brings me a new flower will win my heart,’ he said to Amaryllis. Amaryllis returned home feeling sad and disappointed. This beautiful man turned out to be an impossible love! Desperately as she was, she went to the Orakel of Delphi for help. The Orakel told her to steel a golden arrow from the temple and use this to hurt herself in front of Alteo’s hut. Amaryllis did as she was told. That night she went to Alteo’s hut and stabbed her heart with the arrow. As the drops of blood turned into a red pool on the green grass, she declared her love for Alteo. Alteo did not respond and Amaryllis returned home feeling lost. Every night she stumbled to Alteo’s hut and pierced her heart with the golden arrow. And every night more drops of blood fell onto the grass.

Then, a miracle happened on the thirtieth day. When she arrives at Alteo’s hut, the pool of blood has disappeared and in its place was a beautiful, red, trumpet-shaped flower on a heavy and sturdy stem. She picks the flower and calls out to Alteo: ‘Alteo, Alteo I found you a new flower!’ The curious Alteo opened his door, sees the immaculate flower with velvety petals and kneels in front of Amaryllis. Tears of joy streamed down their faces as they happily fell in each other’s arms. Source: veerenmoon.com

FLOWER OF THE MONTH
ROSES Did you know that giving another person thornless roses means that it was love at first sight? Roses know many meanings, colours and looks. It is the ultimate symbol of love and is often used in perfumes and creams. Roses have many interesting tales. One of them is a Greek legend about the creation of the rose: ‘Once upon a time, the Greek goddess of flowers named Chloris (Flora in Roman) was cleaning the forest when she found the lifeless body of a beautiful nymph. To counter this act of evil, Chloris turned the nymph into a flower. She asked Aphrodite (the goddess of love) for help, who gave the flower beauty. Then she turned to Dionysus (the god of wine), who gave it nectar and a sweet fragrance. Chloris herself gave the flower charm, clarity and joy. Then Zephyr (the west wind) blew away the clouds so that Apollo (the god of the sun) was able to shine upon the flower and let it come to bloom. And so the rose was born. Tenderall
This theme has been a constant factor and has the same signature look with Christmas as in previous months. The recognizable calm and sweet appeal is upgraded with a naughty edge created by the addition of hard colours to the existing palette, such as bright red and navy blue. These colours should only be applied to flowers, plants and perhaps in small details not to pots and vases.
200 C The different prints and textures of the pots give Tenderall its playful character and makes you want more. In November – December, Tenderall will show you how to be your upgraded self.
Flowers: Cotton, chrysanthemum ‘Anastasia’, eryngium ‘Supernova Questar’, brassica ‘White Crane’
The pots in the picture above may look familiar to you, we have also used them in last month’s Earth & Simplicity theme. Two months later and this series is a perfect element for another collection. Using series of pots and vases in completely different settings seems to be a re-occuring theme. Certain series are so amazing and so versatile that it would be a waste to use them only once.

Newbeez Happy and versatile, colourful and different. This collection will turn this year’s Christmas upside down. It’s everything except mundane. Bright colours without being shouty. Compared to the last edition the colours are more down to earth this season. Especially the flowers and hard goods, which will take you back to the 70’s. The hard goods in this edition are primarily focused on fauna. Think about animal prints, sculptures, hanging ornaments etc. Animal elements are playfully and discretely incorporated in bouquets, plants and displays. The hard goods play a wonderful supporting role, the leading stars of the show however, are the flowers.
Flowers: rose ‘Avantique’, germini ‘Pomponi Peachy’, anemone ‘Marianne Panda’, rose ‘Cappucino’, Woody Pear
