Care
Buy fresh flowers that have been properly treated by the grower. This will give a longer vase life. Select a clean vase and fill it with tap water (room temperature).
Add cut flower food (Chrysal, Floralife, Vaselife) to the water for a longer vase life. Trim 3 to 5 cm diagonally off the stem with a clean and sharp knife or secateurs.
Do not place flowers in a draught, in full sun or near a source of heat.
Regularly top up with tap water.
Do not place the flowers near a fruit bowl. Fruit emits ethylene gas which will cause the flowers to age more rapidly. For floral work: soak florist's foam (oasis) thoroughly and add cut flower food (Chrysal, Floralife, Vaselife) to the water.
Explanation of name:
Lathyrus is the Latinization of an ancient Greek plant name from which the derivation is not certain.
Extra information: Especially the seeds of this plant are poisonous.

This flower is pretreated by growers with STS in order to reduce the sensitivity to ethylene (ripening and ageing process). It prevents premature shrinkage and the fall of buds, leaves and flowers. This makes the flowers last longer.
