Meet Amanda Bee: I was halfway through my entomology degree at Texas A&M when I realized it was not for me! I felt so incredibly lost and had no idea where to turn, or what to do. I was sitting in my business calculus class, of all places, when I heard a girl, who was a horticulture major, talking about how excited she was about designing the flowers for her friend’s wedding. For a moment, there was a home movie-style flashback in my mind, and I briefly relived wonderful memories of my dad and I from years ago, landscaping and him teaching me about plants and flowers. Then, in a true Elle Woods fashion, I stood up (well, in my head I did) and said, “I am going to be a floral designer!” And just like Elle, I found my career—my passion. Since then, I have been so fortunate to have learned from many different people, and in 2021 I opened up the first official Amanda Bee’s Floral Designs brick and mortar location. I love designing for weddings and events, but I found myself enjoying the variety of having a true full-service business. I hope to inspire and help any designers that are struggling with starting a retail floristry operation!

Your Silent Sales Force The Secret to Building Your Mailing List
One of the most under-utilized tools in today's floral industry is email marketing. Yes, I know. It sounds boring & like it's going to take a ton of constant work to keep up with but hear me out for a moment. Imagine if you could have hundreds if not thousands of ideal clients right at your fingertips itching to buy from you. How amazing would that be? Having and utilizing your email list is the secret to creating more sales and brand enrichment in your floral business. Why is that? It is easier to sell to someone who has already worked with you or purchased from you before. Humans like to eliminate risks wherever they can. Once they have had a great experience with you their next purchase will have a lower risk associated with it because their mind now has evidence that you are "safe" to do business with. how does that correlate to an email list?
Your email list is a place to house your previous, current, & potential clients all in one place where you can easily contact them and communicate. Essentially this makes it easier for you, the entrepreneur, to stay in contact with your clients. Keeping your clients warm & nurtured helps to incubate them making them much more likely to purchase from and work with you again! Over the past few years I have helped my one-on-one clients grow, nurture & grow their sales from their email lists with some very simple to follow tools and strategies. Where should you start? At the very least, start collecting your clients' names & email addresses in a spreadsheet. To capture new leads, offer something exciting in exchange for having them sign up for your mailing list. (This should be something that has little to no cost to you)
Update them periodically with specials, promotions & events to keep them warm & encourage more sales! I will cover all of this & more in Fleurvana Floral Artists' New Masterclass.
Join me in my brand new Fleurvana Masterclass: The Florist's Survival Guide to Growing your Mailing List. This class unlocks May 22, 2022 with a live Q&A May 23rd. In this Masterclass you will learn my 5 Brilliant ways to attract new leads & clients to your email list. Best of all, these lead generators will cost you virtually nothing! What do you do with your list once you have one? You start converting your leads into clients! Learn my 5 easy soft sale methods to sell to your clients to generate more cashflow into your business! Eclipses and Retrogrades Eclipses Generally speaking there are normally 4 eclipses per year, although occasionally there are five. For 2022 there are 4: April 30, 2002 partial solar eclipse May 15-16, 2022 (depending on your time zone) total lunar eclipse October 25, 2022 partial solar eclipse November 7-8, 2022 (depending on your time zone) total lunar eclipse
We are currently in “eclipse season” which is said to begin 2 weeks before the first eclipse and last for 2 weeks after the second one, although the energy of a total eclipse can be felt up to 6 months after. Eclipses occur in the same signs for around an 18month period. Right now, they are happening in the signs of Taurus and Scorpio and will continue in those signs until July of 2023.
Eclipses are big energy portals. They can bring massive change, show what is not working, force you to look into the dark and reevaluate some area of your life and even signal the ending of something. The placement of Scorpio and Taurus along with their respective rulers Pluto and Venus in your natal chart will give more clues as to how this may show up in your own life. What does a Scorpio/Taurus eclipse mean? Scorpio is the sign of transformation by the death of something, digging deep into the dark places and facing limitations. But why? For the purposes of transformative growth. On the opposite end you have Taurus who just wants stability and is about things that grow above the ground. The ultimate use of this axis is to balance what is above and below to achieve truly life-changing soul growth.
Retrogrades We are currently experiencing 2 planets in retrograde, Mercury and Pluto. I personally don’t subscribe to the hype around retrogrades, especially Mercury. I prefer to look at these periods as opportunities. Mercury retrogrades 3, sometimes 4 times a year. For 2022 there are 3.5: January 14 – February 3, 2022 (Aquarius back into Capricorn) May 10 – June 3, 2022 (Gemini back into Taurus) September 9 – October 2, 2022 (Libra back into Virgo) December 29 – January 18, 2023 (Capricorn)
The effects of Mercury slowing down to station retrograde or direct are called “shadow periods” because the effects may be starting to be felt by some and begin 2 weeks prior the start and 2 weeks after the end. The current retrograde is in Gemini (rules communication, transportation, short trips), one of Mercury’s home signs. While you may experience technology blips that Mercury retrograde is famed for, I feel it is best to use this time for introspection and inventory. Key words include renew, revisit, revise, reconsider.
The area of life that would be important is where this retrograde falls in your natal chart. Because Mercury rules communication (of all types), it is important to be mindful of your words, regardless of the vehicle transmitting them. There is a great piece of wisdom that has been attributed to Socrates 2500 years ago which he called the 3 Sieves and was taught to me as the 3 Gates. It’s simple, yet profound: before you speak, send that text or e-mail, put your words through the 3 Gates: 1.Is it true?If not, probably better to pass on making any kind of commentary. If it’s true go to gate two. 2.Is it kind? Something can be true but unkind, and in that case be better left unsaid. If it’s true and kind got to gate three. 3.Is it necessary?Something can be true and kind, but not really add any value to a conversation, e-mail, or text.
The other retrograde planet is Pluto. Being the outermost, slowest moving planet, it goes retrograde less often and stays a little longer. It also has a longer shadow period. In 2022 Pluto entered the preshadow period on January 6, 2022, and stationed retrograde on April 29, 2022, at 28 degrees 36’ of Capricorn. It will station direct on October 8, 2022, and leave, the post-retrograde zone January 29, 2023, when it will be back to 28 degrees 36’ Capricorn.
We’ve already talked about how Pluto calls for digging deep and exploring what’s underneath, facing limitations and wounds. Pluto retrograde in Capricorn calls for an inspection of our life’s foundation, what are the structures that we have built for ourselves. Have we learned and grown from the lessons we have been given, or have we turned a blind eye and by-passed on the hard work? Pluto retrograde provides and opportunity to revisit and do the work, learn the lesson, strip away what no longer serves our highest good. Opportunity is knocking, what will you do?

Best Essential Oils for Anxiety Relief Balance Balance is an essential oil blend that helps to even out your emotional energy. Balance can also help with sleep when diffused at night.
Peace This sweet woodsy blend helps to create a sense of peace within the body. I use this blend when I'm feeling overwhelmed or stressed with work.
Page 46
When Sourcing Your Essential Oils - Always make sure your oils are Therapeutic Grade to ensure they are not synthetic - Buy organic oils and oils free from pesticides - Read labels and use caution if applying to the skin, not all oils are skin safe - A little goes a long way - Fragrance is a very personal experience and is the strongest memory trigger. It's ok if you don't like every one.
Bergamot Bergamot is a citrusy oil that can help to elevate your mood while relieving some of the feelings of anxiety.
Ylang Ylang Diffused from the ylang-ylang flower this floral oil is one of my personal favorites for when I'm feeling anxious. It is also believed to help lower blood-pressure when used in aromatherapy. I love to blend ylang-ylang with lavender.
Fleurvana
Lavender A classic! Lavender has been clinically studied for its therapeutic properties. Lavender helps to promote a deep feeling of relaxation, is believed to reduce anxiety & stress along with many other beneficial uses.
Chamomile Roman Chamomile is great for meditation and to help relieve a restless mind. Diffusing Chamomile in the evening or at night is believed to help with a more restful sleep.
Diffusing Essential Oils: Diffusing Oils while working is often a great way to enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy while you're being productive. If you're new to using essential oils in this way remember to start low and slow. It may be tempting to put 10 drops in your diffuser and crank it on high. There is no need to overload your olfactory receptors. Start with one or two drops of your desired oil and take note of how you respond. Some people are much more sensitive to fragrance than others.
Vetiver Vetiver has a smokey woodsy fragrance and is amazing for grounding your energy. I use vetiver when I'm feeling scatter-brained or can't focus because I'm too distracted. It also blends very well with floral oils such as ylangylang, rose or lavender.
