FLO LORIDA THOROUGHBRED CHARITIES is a non-profit organization and the charitable arm of the FTBOA. FTC is committted to strengthening both the industry and community through events raising funds for educational organizations in the communityy, groups that benefit area families, and organizations that benefit the equine industry. The FTC also provides scholarships and supportt to the Florida Thoroughbred Reetirement Farm at the Marion/Lowell Correctional Institutions. The farm provides characterbuilding training for inmates and prepares horses for second careers or adoption. The farm is home to celebrities Carterista and millionaire Shake Yoou Down, both multiple graded-stakes winners, and Hemingway’s Key, third-place finisher in the 2006 Preakness. The Florida farm opened in 2001 and is home to over 40 horses including 2001 Florida Horse of the Year Forbidden Apple. The Lowell Facility was the first at a women’s unit in the nation.

He was represented by 36 runners, including 10 winners. Biondetti's leading earner was Bella Vincenza, who earned $69,338 from one win and three seconds in eight starts. Out of the Dixie Union mare Cascina, Bella Vincenza was bred by David Berman. Trained by Kathleen O'Connell, the Florida-bred filly was raced by Pinnacle Racing Stable LLC and Stein Racing LLC. Rounding out Biondetti's top five winners were

Clever Girl ($56,700), Elle Va ($33,025), Conscripted ($32,784) and La Zoraya ($28,570). By Bernardini out of the Lyphard mare Lyphard, Biondetti is a half-brother to gradedstakes winners Delta Princess and Indy Five Hundred. Biondetti won the Gran Criterium (G1) at Milan and was second in the Prix Messidor (G3) at Maisons-Laffitte. In nine lifetime starts, Biondetti posted three wins and one second to earn $359,583. He was represented by 15 juvenile winners, including one Florida-bred blacktype juvenile stakes winner and four blacktype stakes-placed juvenile runners. Gone Astray's leading earner was outstanding Florida-bred stakes winner Three Rules, who collected $700,640 on five wins in six starts. Three Rules became the ninth horse to sweep the open division of the Florida Sire Stakes, winning the three-race series by a remarkable 22½ lengths. He was represented by 93 winners, five blacktype stakes winners and nine blacktype stakes-placed runners. All earnings, wins, stakes winners and stakes totals for Florida stallions include North American and international progeny as provided by The Jockey Club Information Systems Inc. The 2016 leading earner for High Cotton was Florida-bred multiple stakes winner R Angel Katelyn with a bankroll of $147,120. The 2-year-old bay filly won the Juvenile Filly Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream Park on November 12. The precocious miss encored that with a victory in the Sandpiper Stakes on Dec. 3 at Tampa Bay Downs. Bred by Craig Lawrence Wheeler, R Angel Katelyn is out of the Southern Halo mare Send for an Angel. Bred by Gilbert G. Campbell, Noted and Quoted was consigned by Summerfield, agent, to the 2015 OBS August Yearling Sale. By The Factor out of the City Zip mare Silver Cube, the gray/roan filly was sold for $160,000 to Quarter Pole Enterprises. Raced by Speedway Stable, Noted and Quoted won the Chandelier Stakes (G1) on Oct. 1 at Santa Anita Park. On the season, she earned $259,580. The Joe O'Farrell Memorial Award is presented annually by the Ocala Breeders Sales Company to the original consignor of the year's best Florida-bred racehorse offered at public auction at OBS. Campbell was the leading breeder by Florida-bred earnings ($2,761,261), blacktype Floridabred stakes winners (5) and wins (91). The five Campbell-bred Florida-bred blacktype stakes winners posted six blacktype wins. Included in that group were Grade 1 stakes winner Noted and Quoted, Grade 3 stakes winners Always Sunshine and Reporting Star, as well as stakes winners Abiding Star and Fast Flying Rumor. Campbell was also represented by non-blacktype stakes winner Dad'z Laugh. Homebred stakes winners racing under Campbell's Stonehedge LLC included Always Sunshine and Abiding Star. Grade 1 stakes winner Noted and Quoted was Campbell's leading earner with $259,580 banked on two wins in five starts. The precocious juvenile filly won the Chandelier Stakes (G1) on Oct. 1 at Santa Anita Park. WIN APPROVAL, the dam of 2016 Florida-bred Champion Older Male and Champion Turf Male World Approval, was named the 2016 Florida Broodmare of the Year. World Approval, a 2012 gray/roan gelding by Northern Afleet, was a Grade 1 stakes winner and multiple graded-stakes placed on his way to earning $504,713. Bred by Charlotte Weber's Live Oak Stud and raced by her Live Oak Plantation, World Approval captured the United Nations Stakes (G1) on July 3 at Monmouth Park. The Mark Casse trainee was also second in the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic (G1) and in the Muniz Memorial Handicap (G2). On the season, World Approval also posted thirds in the Woodford Reserve Manhattan Stakes (G1) and Northern Dancer Turf Stakes (G1). Bred by Live Oak Stud, Win Approval is also the dam of Floridabred Grade I millionaire and multiple stakes winner Miesque's Approval, who collected the 2006 Eclipse Award as champion male grass horse.
