Hello Key-uties,

As we approach August, I hope we’ve all grown beyond the person we were pre-summer and spent our valuable summer cherishing our time with our loved ones as well as doing what we love!

How did you guys like TROPICO-TC, June DCM, our ‘Sunset Luau’ Inter-club with PGKC + FRKC or our ‘Summer into Service’ June General Meeting? Personally, this summer has been a blast and there has been no better way than to spend it serving my very community and planning events like our ‘Sunset Luau’ interclub for YOU, our general members to participate in engaging amongst new key clubbers!

If you feel the same, please write about these experiences for our Secretary Yangxin Ye & BE Hao Lam in our non-service event form located in our linktree.

Looking ahead to August, mark your calendars for our annual Region 16 Colorsplash at Elk Grove Regional Park. Keep an eye out for upcoming service events listed in our linktree, and remember, the Charity Miles service submission deadline is August 1st!

Hello Key Club - I hope everyone is having a memorable time wrapping up their summers and getting ready to return to school! With school coming back and college applications opening up soon, I wish all the best to my fellow seniors as we all begin the college app grind. We got this.

August also means club rush season - I hope FLKX gets to see faces both old and new join us this year as we recruit for the 2024-2025 term! Our officers and especially Jenny has been working hard to plan upcoming activities for everyone, including FRN, RTC, and a few exciting interclubs with our Key Club friends. We can’t wait to see all of you back soon and look forward to making more memories with everyone in the 2024-2025 school year.

USATF MASTER CHAMPIONSHIP

FABIAN FLORES | Volunteering at the USATF as someone who loves athletics was so fun! I had the opportunity to work with track and field athletes from all across the United States! The ages of these athletes ranged all the way from 20s, to some even being in their 80s and 90s! Seeing these people still participate in sports they love despite their age was truly inspiring. As for the volunteering part, we were tasked with helping facilitate events and help the athletes as they competed. On saturday, I was tasked with 2 events, the women’s long jump and the men’s hammer throw. During my time, I witnessed an 85 year old woman break the american record for the long jump! I also had the opportunity to meet a former THREE TIME OLYMPIAN! (Ed Burke)

DARE TO SERVE & JULY DCM

ANNIE CHEN | Dare to Serve & July DCM was a very creative and engaging event. We began with regular club monthly updates and division awards, followed by various opportunities to serve the community through making dog toys, cards, and coloring Draw-a-Smile coloring pages for children. During this time, club members, officers, and DLT members were able to bond while gaining service hours. I had a lot of fun experimenting with different color combinations on the coloring pages while making conversations with fellow Key Clubbers! The DCM ended with the DLT doing various dares… It was surely a messy but unforgettable experience full of laughter!

EAST SAC KIWANIS JULY MEETING

HAO LAM|This month’s East Sac Kiwanis meeting was definitely one to remember. Florin Key Club got the opportunity to attend this month to celebrate our IP Key Club President Cathy Truong, who was one of the recipients of this year’s East Sac Kiwanis Scholarship! The meeting also saw fellow key clubbers from John F. Kennedy and West Campus, who were there for their Kiwanis takeover. Overall, Kiwanis meetings like these are an excellent opportunity K and other Key Clubbers. Hope to see everyone all at the next

SUNSET LUAU INTERCLUB

JENNY NGUYEN |Our beachy ‘Sunset Luau’ Interclub with PGKC and FRKC was definitely one for the books this summer! It was great to see keyclubbers mingle amongst each other in various activities and service projects such as lei-making, flower clip making, and origami. There was also yummy Hawaiian food and drinks prepared for members to purchase where the profits will be towards our own individual club’s PTP goals. Lastly, let’s not forget about our interclub hwachae bowl consisting of refreshing fruits and sprite as well as strawberry milk where we encouraged attendees to bring a fruit towards our interclub hwachae; personally I also had a bunch of fun making that interclub hwachae TikTok. I hope members and officers had as much as a blast attending this event as we did plan this one. Missed out on this one? Don’t worry as we have much more events and interclubs planned for the rest of the term so as always make sure to stay KEY-nnected with us through attending our general meetings, keeping up with your socials, joining Google Classroom,, and more!
