here Keyuties, we are now basically the midpoint of summer break and it really is going by so quickly. I hope everyone spends this summer to its absolute fullest with no regrets, and most mportantly regardless of what summer is ooking like for everyone, to remember to ake care of themselves along the way; u truly deserve it!

at are your summer plans everyone? As me, I’ll be going on a socal trip with my family in early July which I’m looking forward to, as well as interning for a poli-sci program shadowing assemblymen members within California while obviously attending to Key Club events!

As for the month of July, here are some KEY events to look forward to: Colorsplash + July DCM taking place at Elk Grove Park on July 6th, remember that pre-reg ends on July 1st and there is also our ‘Sunset Luau’ Interclub with PGKC & FRKC at Jan Rau Park on July 14th!

POPS IN T @ EAST PORTAL PARK JUNE 8TH

ANNIE CHEN | This is my second summer volunteering for the Kiwanis Pops in the Park event! It was just as lively and fun as I had remembered! As soon as I got there, we started out with packing the condiments and getting to know all the volunteers and Kiwanis members! When the time of the event came close we all began to work together to cook and assemble all the necessary parts. People divided into pairs based on interest in what job they want like learning to cook and assist the Kiwanis members with handling meat, helping out with assembling burgers and hotdogs, and giving out drinks and condiments. I worked to help distribute the type of meat customers want with other volunteers who handled the buns and bread. It was a fun experience as I had last summer and I look forward to future Pops in the Park events!

THE PARK

JUNE 15TH @ MCKINLEY PARK

FABIAN FLORES | The Kiwanis Pops in the Park service event was such an amazing opportunity to attend! We met up with our Kiwanis advisor, Ms. Kieng, and others in order to help set up and prepare for the day. The items we sold included hot dogs, burgers, drinks, etc. As for the volunteers, we often cycled through jobs as to not get bored. Overall, this was a really fun event and it literally felt like Papa’s Freezeria! My favorite job was being a cashier, as I got to talk and interact with people! I also had to handle money. Throughout the day, we were also allowed to go on breaks and eat some free food! Overall this was a re recommend.

MILEY SEUNG | TROPIC-OTC was such a fun experience! This year I got to experience it as a presenter! My presentation was on Preferred Charrities, and I was partners with someone from Division 7 North. I had a great time bonding and presenting with her.
