JAYDE SAELEE

there orange monsters! My name is Jayde Saelee and I am happy if not ECSTATIC to be serving as YOUR assistant secretary for the ‘24-‘25 term! A bit to know about me is I am an incoming sophomore and had wanted to be in Key Club since the seventh grade. I can eat an entire cake alone in one sitting and I especially love editing. I had originally joined key club because I really enjoyed putting a smile on others faces within our community. Now being in Key Club for about a year now I found that Key Club is not just about community service. The people you meet and the events you attend will truly bring your inner MONSTER out! I really wanted to be on the board of Key Club because being on the passionate I am about everything key club does for others. Key Club is a club that I put my 100% into. It’s not just a club, it’s a commitment. Key Club is something that will reveal who you are as a person and how much you value what others do! This year I would love to see our monster nation grow larger and for Florin Key Club to gain the recognition we deserve. With hope in gaining two times the amount of members now I want to have our members feel more part of the club and enjoy serving our community. Having more active members will truly make our division LARGER and LOUDER. As we won last year’s FRN we shall win again this year with LOUDER VOICES and STRONGER PASSION for our monster nation.

HISTORIAN

Hey Key Club! My name is Annie Chen and I’m so excited to be able to serve as one of your historians for the upcoming term! A few fun facts about me is that I was born in Pennsylvania (it’s a real place) and my birthday (520) means ‘I love you’ in Chinese! I decided to become part of the Key Club board this year because of the memories I’ve made over the past year during volunteer events. I’ve been able to experience so much fun and go through a variety of experiences because of this club. I wanted to become historian to help capture these amazing memories and help showcase the service our members have to offer for our community! Lastly, I hope we will all have an awesome term together!

Hey monsters, my name is Sanly Wu and I will be serving as one of your historians for the '24-'25 term. Some fun facts about me is that I love collecting tote bags, eating sushi and volunteering. I initially became interested in key club because of the various community service opportunities, but after participating in a variety of events I've grown a greater understanding and passion for key club. My favorite memory by far would be attending my first FRN. I had an amazing time screaming my heart out and spending the day with my friends. As an officer, I'm looking forward to receiving a deeper understanding of our club, as well as creating new memories. I hope our club continues to grow brighter and I can't wait to see you all!

HISTORIAN

Hey Monsters! My name is Emily Sam and I will be serving as your Public Relations for the 2024-2025 term! Some fun facts about me are that I’m allergic to cinnamon and I’ve slept for over 17 hours before. I first heard about the club when my older siblings talked about it frequently at home, so of course I had to join! Being able to serve my community by volunteering has been a blast so far, including all the incredible events this club has to offer! DCON was by far the greatest experience yet! Meeting people from all over the state, engaging in fun and informative activities with other key clubbers, and even seeing a live performance of Rocco himself solidified my love for this community as a whole. I’m excited to spread this positive energy to our future members and make some new memories with the new board! Looking forward to seeing you all this next term!

CARNITAS FEED

SATURDAY, MAY 4TH

My experience from the Kiwanis Carnitas Feed went really well. I helped prepare food such as onions, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, cilantro and churros. I also helped with serving food and it went really well. After serving food I went and helped other tables for refills, throwing trash away and giving utensils. I also went and bussed the tables throwing soda cans and plates away for the guests and making sure the tables were clean. The last part of the event was the raffle prizes. I went and handed prizes to the winners and made sure to congratulate them on their prize. After the event was over we cleaned up the tables, threw trash away, folded table covers and stacked chairs. Overall the event went really well and I had an amazing time helping out.

JED EDNAVE MILEY SEUNG

Volunteering at the Kiwanis Carnitas Feed was such a fun experience! When I first arrived at the event, I was tasked with gathering trash from each table, as I came pretty late and people already finished the first meal. Later, I start serving the dessert, which were churros! The volunteers got to eat the extras which I am super glad about! As the event was coming to a close, we gathered all the dirty plates and trash. Then we were task with handing out the raffle prizes as they called out the winners! It was great seeing the reactions of the people who won something. Their happy and excited faces just made my day! In the end, we cleaned up the tables, and packed away the chairs and decorations. It was a nice and eventful day, and I am quite excited for more Kiwanis events I can volunteer at!

SATURDAY, MAY 11TH

Volunteering at VSA’s VCN event was very cool and interesting to be at. You can really tell all the hard work and planning that went into this event. I was in charge of recording the show. For me, it was nice seeing another culture doing their traditional dances and immersing themselves in their heritage. You can tell there’s a lot of pride and passion for their heritage which is very beautiful and it shows with how well their performances were. It took many people to run the show but with the help of everyone, everything went smoothly. It was a very fun experience where I got to go out more and see what my community is up to.

Vietnamese Culture Night was a beautiful event that entertained the audience with many amazing performances, traditional songs, and a comedic skit. The performances displayed outstanding choreography that were accompanied by the gentle music of Vietnamese culture. There were many great performers from different schools that brightened the event’s outcome. In addition, the audience had the opportunity to watch a hilarious skit that portrayed the journey of a young prince and his sister’s struggles to claim their kingdom. During intermission, snacks and drinks were sold to the audience at a cheap price. Overall, the event is an astonishing experience for everyone who is interested in Vietnamese Culture.

MAY DCM

SATURDAY, MAY 18TH

Last week I attended May DCM at the Countryside Park and it was the highlight of my week! We were introduced to our new DLT board and there were many fun water activities planned. I was able to interact with other students from our division as well as enjoy Melona ice cream bars on a hot day that were sold by our DLT board. I enjoyed playing the water actives planned by our LTG. My favorite part during this event was dunking water buckets and throwing water balloons on my friends that were apart of the DLT board. This DCM I had lots of memorable moments with my friends that I will not forget!

ANGEL FENG ANNIE CHEN

May DCM was full of cool summer water activities! We started off with recognitions towards members, clubs, etc. It was really nice to hear about all the clubs’ various activities and plans for the future. To start off the water activities, we separated into groups and had the opportunity to play games with members from other schools! Everyone got wet from the water balloons and buckets, but it was a memorable experience! During break, we were able to purchase pizzas and Melona ice cream, which was so delicious! Lastly, May DCM ended off with water ballooning the DLT and our school Florin made the biggest purchase of the amount of water balloons!
