RHIANANNA JANUS MISS SL 2017 Hello readers,In this issue of Virtual Diva, we have the lovely and talented Rhiananna Janus, The Reigning Miss SL 2017! Angy : First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the time to tell our readers a little about yourself. We are very excited to learn about you, your inspirations and all that we can. Shall we start? Rhiananna : Thank you for your time today Angy, I am looking forward to this interview very much! Angy : As we all know winning a contest like Miss SL is a dream to many models. And you are living it. What was going through your mind when you were named the Winner of Miss SL 2017? Rhiananna : I was totally shocked to be honest, I was so pleased that I made it into the top 8, I considered that quite an honor itself... but when the results were announced I truly found myself speechless... it was an amazing moment. Angy : As I mentioned before there were
many models in the contest. Some new, some very experienced and everyone wanted to win this. Some have been trying every year. What do you think you had that made you win this contest? Rhiananna : I believe it was my thoughtful replies to the questions posed by the judges, I think everyone did a wonderful job styling and walking, though it was a hard decision for the judges. I am sure. Angy : Your answers were brilliant. And I am sure it was an amazing experience, even a lifetime memory. Speaking of memories, can you tell us about your most memorable moment? Rhiananna : I think what I remember most is the feeling of unity and “we are all in this together for the contestants. Even though we were competing with each other, we cared about each other and wanted to help if possible. I also found the creative challenges to be memorable... not only with 13
what I myself came up with, but what the other contestants created. It’s truly amazing how creative we were as a group. Angy : Interesting. Love in competition. Indeed we have many things to learn from you. How about you, did you learn something from the other contestants? Rhiananna : Very much so. I found the different personalities and countries of origin to be a learning experience... it felt very global to me. Each of us bringing something a little bit different to the table, and learning from each other really. Angy : SL in itself is a global platform for sure. But I am wondering how you got into fashion. Can you share that memory with us ? Rhiananna : Well Angy, to be honest, I came into modeling as a personal challenge. I always enjoyed styling and dressing up... but I wanted to add the professional polish to it. I think one of the most vivid memories was from when I first began. I had to walk a straight beam and for the first week or two it was not that easy for me. It seems so simple in retrospect, but for someone who never had to do it before... it was daunting. Once I mastered it I was like YAY!!!!!!
Rhiananna : I cannot say that I do Angy, in all honesty. I think mesh is a wonderful thing, it has given us more realism, and with the advent of Bento, you can create your own unique look just as you would with a system head. I know several models who choose to stay with their system heads and bodies and they are amazing as well, but for me I believe in progress and I am very pleased to see new things coming out. Angy : So you think that the models still have their unique look. Rhiananna : I do yes, I believe we can be unique with all the options out there, especially with the addition of Bento it allows us to create our faces and follow our “branding”. I would say that Pre-Bento, it was harder to create a unique look for branding, as there were only so many mesh heads out there. Now the possibilities are endless. Bento has opened new doors for models, and it’s very exciting. I think the mesh revolution overall is a positive thing, and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next. Angy : ‘Next’ is always interesting. How do you see Rhiananna in the future? what are your plans after Miss SL?
Angy : Haha!! I am sure now you are going to be the reason many turn their head into modeling. But I hear most of the people telling that the fashion industry is hard, do you think it is?
Rhiananna : I would like to continue with my teaching, I really enjoy that a lot. I am open to new opportunities as well but do not have concrete plans at this time.
Rhiananna : I believe it is Angy, much more so than outsiders can see. It challenges you at every level, personally... socially... emotionally... and I think the different personalities you encounter in this industry also make it challenging. Some people you “click” with immediately and others not so much.
Angy : You are doing a great job. Apart from teaching, what do you enjoy most about being a Model?
Angy : True. We do ‘Click’ with some. Has the ‘Click’ with Miss SL changed your life? Rhiananna : It has yes, I believe so. It has given me a closer insight into the machinations of the high fashion industry here in SL and how things work on the inside. It is a very exciting adventure I can surely say that of it. In another aspect, it has changed my life in that I have met many interesting people and very skilled models, editors, photographers, and the upper echelon of the industry here... very exciting! Angy : And it will keep giving you more excitement. Speaking of Characters, how would you define your personality ? Rhiananna : I am an introvert Angy, I don’t have much to say until and unless I am crossed. I am not the life of the party type, I much prefer to observe and take in rather than grab the spotlight. I am, by nature shy.... however I am quite assertive and have an eagle eye for most situations. Angy : Interesting. Being an introvert and representing fashion must be little hard. But that makes you the model you are here. What do you think defines a model? There are so many out there in the fashion industry, what do you think is the extra thing that makes a model unique? Rhiananna : I believe that answer lies in her personal sense of style. No matter what the styling called for, you can always see a little bit of what makes them who they are in their choice of clothing and accessories. It really does shine through, and that is also as much a part of a model’s “branding” as is her face. Angy : know Bento people

uniqueness. Do you agree with this?
Speaking of branding via faces, you sure now that we have this complete mesh, concepts all around Second life, some blame that the models have lost their
Rhiananna : I find a great deal of enjoyment in the modeling community itself here in SL. Every week there are new ideas, events, shows and challenges announced... the creative minds behind this industry keep it fresh, and I really love the vibrancy of the community. Angy : Yes, we do live on this creativity we possess. By the way, how do you create a style? Do you have a special process? Or what inspires you? Rhiananna : Well the first thing is the concept itself. Whatever theme is required or asked of me. Secondly it is research... going to the internet to find images that may inspire me. Usually I do a good deal of research and finally ONE particular styling with spark me to create my own from that inspiration. The main outfit is usually the building block of the styling, although I have done some stylings around accessories if they are particularly outstanding pieces. Angy : Those are such wonderful answers and I am sure our readers can see how you make a fine winner of the pageant. We thank you for taking the time to be our cover story, and take time to do this interview. Any final words for our readers? Rhiananna : Firstly, I am most grateful for this opportunity to be in your magazine, and for the time you have taken today to chat with me. Secondly I want to say to others... do not ever give up on your dream. If you have a dream, research it first, know if it is for you, and then give all that you can. Do not change yourself for anyone... be true to your own inner light and then reach for the stars. Angy : I would like to thank you again for taking time to speak with us here at Virtual Diva Magazine. It was wonderful time getting to know you and we wish you good luck in all your future endeavours.
