Your must-haves this month! Reinventing classics by Swarovski Known for its elegant and stylish designs, this season Swarovski reinvented the classic motifs of love with a modern twist. Giving each design a unique name, the collection comprises of rings, pendants, earrings as well as figurines that are feminine and delicate in design. Creative Director, Nathalie Colin states that “the heart is a universal symbol of love and friendship. This Valentine’s Day is no exception, but we wanted to approach this traditional motif from a more modern perspective.” Our favourite pick from the collection is the Cupidon ring which is available in rose gold, yellow gold and rhodium. Being a mix of the infinity symbol and a heart the ring is encrusted with crystals that add an additional bling to the piece.
Hearts all over with Guess Celebrating the month of love, Guess watches launches their Valentine Collection which expresses the spirit of romance. Epitomising timelessness and moving away from the shades of pink and red, this collection has two styles—love potion and serendipity which are available in classic white, blue and rose gold. Minimalistic in design, the watches feature a round dial resting on a steel bracelet. The main attraction in this timepiece is the hearts on the dial which make the watch look fun and yet chic. One can also opt for the bling version where the bezel and the hearts on the dial of the rose gold watch are diamond studded. Ranging from r7,900 to r12,300 this is the ideal present for your loved one!

Four Seasons Chateau & Winery W ith its warm sunny days giving way to cool, crisp nights, scenic Baramati—just an hour and a half’s drive from Pune— is the ideal place to grow grapes of almost all varietals. And recognising the sleepy little village’s immense potential to take over the mantle of Maharashtra’s very Napa Valley of sorts, perfect for a bit of luxurious agro-tourism, the people at Four Seasons wines have set up the magnificent Four Seasons Chateau & Winery here. Rising out of the flat, arid land is the salmon pink (or rosé if you prefer!) and ivory three-storied edifice modeled on a French chateau, with dancing fountains in the

foreground. Besides having a fully operational winery and bottling plant on its premises, the chateau also boasts 10 rooms and four suites which are all named either after famous wine regions of the world like ‘Barossa’ or in honour of the winery’s premium labels like ‘Barrique’ after the Barrique Reserve Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals. Speaking of wine, the winery conducts wine tours here that take in the expansive onsite vineyards long with the factory and wine boutique where you can pick up bottles at discounted rates. For a bit of wine education, one can even avail of the wine appreciation sessions with the winery’s resident winemaker at the subterranean barrel room and learn about everything from how to sip a fruity Viognier to what cheese goes well with a full-bodied Merlot! But for those wishing to add a gourmet meal to their weekend of decadence, the chateau’s restaurant offers wine and food pairing—often with visiting chefs lending their creativity
to bespoke four-course meals that carry through them the wine leitmotif. And if all that’s still not enough, the winery also has a swimming pool and a spa to pamper you even more… ––Raul Dias The winery is located in the village of Baramati near the Pune-Baramati Road. city that’s always bursting with life that comes alive on a canvas of colour and chaos—there’s something very special about Hyderabad. From exploring the tiny, bustling by-lanes of the old city that

will surprise you at every step to admiring the majestic palaces and feasting on lip-smacking cuisine cooked in the true Nawabi tradition, this city offers a vivid range of fascinating experiences.
1. Get lost in Old Hyderabad
The heart of Hyderabad is the iconic Charminar—and a visit to the 400-year-old monument is pretty much a rite of passage through the city. Start by climbing up to the top of the Charminar for a bird’s eye view of the area around. Four well-planned streets emanate from the
Charminar—and around this nerve center has sprung up a bustling commercial hotspot! Now that you have oriented yourself, waste no time in diving into the streets around the Charminar. There is just so much colour and chaos—you will feel more alive than you have in a while! Stop by the legendary Laad Bazaar and buy yourself some beautiful lac bangles. The area around Machli Kaman (before Pathergatti) is renowned for its ittar shops—the air hangs heavy with the distinctive smell of perfumed oils. Further down the street, stores selling strings of dainty pearls will catch your eye. Interestingly enough, this is where Hyderabad pearls first originated from. Across the road from the Charminar, the grand mosque Makka Masjid stands tall. The central arch of the mosque has been built from specially commissioned bricks from soil brought from Mecca. For a fantastic view of the Makka Masjid, perch yourself atop the adjoining Charminar around Friday prayer timings—and you will be in for a real visual treat!
2. Discover Secret Lake and more…
Pics: Pratap Kaul (coordinated by Mithila Mehta)
Perhaps one of the city’s most wonderfully kept secrets is the beautiful Secret Lake. The lake derives its name from its obscure location, discreetly tucked in between Jubilee Hills and Madhapur. The lake is a breathtaking place, surrounded

by rolling granite rocks in the form of hills. It offers beautiful views and absolute serenity, right in the heart of the city. It is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of city life. This freshwater lake is also known locally by the name Durgam Cheruvu. Interestingly, it served as the drinking water source for the residents of Golconda Fort during the rule of the Qutub Shahi dynasty in the 16th century. Today, it is an interesting place to go angling, boating, rock climbing, trekking—or to sit by the lake and just be. Also worth a visit is the world’s tallest monolith of Gautama Buddha that is erected at Lumbini Park in the Husain Sagar Island that can be reached by boat.
3. Feast like a king!
Yes it’s true—Hyderabad is a food lover’s paradise! Trying the plethora of Hyderabad’s delicacies is definitely a must-do for every traveller to the city. As a local adage goes—it’s not what you see in Hyderabad that matters, but what you eat! Biryani lovers must stop by at the city’s best and most iconic biryani restaurants. The best known names are Bawarchi at RTC Cross Roads (an old name that never goes out of flavour), Shadab at Charminar (brilliant biryani in a nondescript little restaurant) or Hotel Madinaat Pathergatti (often described as the
‘Mother of all Irani Cafes!’). If nothing else drop by one of the various branches of Paradise Hotel—for a taste of Hyderabad’s biryani in a rather convenient setting. Dine Hill, a rather popular restaurant at Banjara Hills, offers visitors the unique experience of eating authentic food in a giant thaal (a large,

For those who love their beer and rock without too much other fuss, Club 8 remains the city’s favourite watering hole. Additionally, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills have countless interesting cute little cafes, bistros and eateries to choose from.
4. Explore India’s only Arab Street
Here’s something that will interest the culture vultures. Nestled in the heart of Hyderabad is Barkas, India’s only authentic Arab Street. As the story goes, the Nizam of Hyderabad was surrounded by hostile kingdoms in the Deccan. He hence only trusted the strong, well-built Arabs, whom he recruited into his personal army. As the population of Arabs grew, they settled down in barracks on the outskirts of the walled city. Hence was born Barkas (a corruption of the English word
36

“barracks”) a neighbourhood where residents can all trace their lineage back to the Arab peninsular—and authentic Arabic culture continues to flourish even today. Explore the streets of the neighbourhood for some very interesting experiences. Head to one of the little eateries to savour piping hot Iranian dishes cooked as per authentic tradition. Don’t miss the harees, a sweet, delicious version of haleem. You will hear beats of Egyptian music resonate through the streets, and young children singing tunes of a Lebanese songstress. The homes look more like palaces, carefully decorated with calligraphic verses of the Quran and maintained to perfection. Men in Arab gowns sit about, sipping mint-peppered Suleimani tea in delicate cups.
5. Live the royal life
The palaces of Hyderabad (and trust us, there are just so many!) are definitely among the most beautiful in the world. The grand palaces of the Nizams are majestic and marvelous—truly architectural and artistic masterpieces. The beautiful Chowmahalla Palace (formerly the official residence of the Nizams) is breathtaking in every sense. The Palace remains property of the Nizam’s heirs. The spectacular Falaknuma Palace (meaning “mirror of the sky” in Urdu) is nestled on a hill high above the city and offers marvelous views. Interestingly enough, the Palace is designed in the shape of a scorpion with its stings spread out as wings. The Palace also has a 101seat dining table, considered to be the world’s largest. The Palace has now been converted into a Taj Hotel. Other beautiful palaces dot the entire city. The Nizam’s other palaces include Purani Haveli, King Kothi Palace (converted into a hospital),
Chiran Palace, Bella Vista (now a college), Hill Fort Palace (now a hotel) amongst others. The Asman Garh Palace is now an archeology Museum and the Paigah Palace houses the US Consulate.
6. Discover a Spanish heritage
The spectacular 106-year-old Spanish Mosque is one-of-akind in India. Located in the Begumpet neighbourhood of Hyderabad, the mosque was built by the Paigah Nawab Sir Iqbal Ud Daula. As the story goes, the Nawab visited Spain during his travels to Europe and was very impressed by the country. Inspired by the Cathedral-Mosque of Cordoba in Spain, he decided to erect a beautiful mosque. Those who love architecture will find the Spanish Mosque most fascinating. It displays a unique Hispanic style of architecture, which is seen nowhere else in the country. Towering above the mosque are spires (instead of the usual minarets or domes) which give a Moorish appearance to the mosque.
7. Step back in time History comes alive so beautifully at the glorious Paigah Tombs, where lie buried the nobility of
the Paigah family. These magnificent white marble structures are decorated in stucco work and represent a spectrum of architectural styles—from Mughal to Greek, Persian, Rajasthani and Deccani style of architecture. The unique geometrical designs exhibit great craftsmanship. Spend some time exploring the tombs and the surrounding areas, take in the thick air of history and heritage that hangs over them. Time seems to stand still here, so take in the peace...
8. Explore Asia’s largest library
Hyderabad’s Central State Library is the largest library in Asia! It is located at Afzal Gunj on the banks of the River Musi, and houses over half a million books and magazines, including very rare palm-leaf manuscripts. The library itself is also a work of art, dating back to the late 19th century with an imposing, majestic architectural façade.
9. See the world’s tallest tricycle
Petrolheads will love visiting the Sudha Car Museum in Bahadurpur, which houses an eclectic array of modified vehicles. The world’s tallest tricycle, shortest double
decker bus and smallest bike are all on display at the museum. Additionally, the Museum houses some seriously wacky vehicles— cars and bikes in designs inspired by everything from basketball to desktop computers, fountain pens, billiards tables, flowers, brinjals, cameras, mushrooms and even a commode. Drop by for a fascinating day on wheels!
10. Celebrate Ramadan in Hyderabad
For a true view of the city coming alive in all its vivid colours, plan to visit Hyderabad during the Ramadan celebrations. You will see the city buzzing with festivities and cheer all around. The Charminar and the surrounding areas become a hotbed of activity all around. Thousands of small stalls spring up, selling a massive array of delicious Ramadan dishes, tantalizing desserts and beautiful trinkets. The energy and vibrancy of the place is tremendous! Do not miss out on tasting haleem, the dish that is
38

synonymous with Ramadan celebrations. Walk by any iconic eatery and you will see massive brown pots ready to simmer haleem! The best place to feast on haleem is the legendary Pista House near Charminar—diehard fans swear by their haleem, travelling from far and wide to get a taste of it. Apart from the usual desserts such as kheer and sevviyanka-meetha, Hyderabad has some special Ramadan sweets as well. Badam ki jalli is a delicious traditional sweet, made from marzipan. Only a particular variety of local almonds is used to make this marzipan. The sweets have Urdu writings cut into pattern. Ashrafi is another special golden coloured sweet— made to look exactly like the special gold coins issued by the Nizam of Hyderabad during his rule.

Philips Fidelio M1BT (R8,190) This dark blue-grey coloured beauty comes with stylish leather on the headband, while the frame is mostly aluminium. There’s a small amount of textured plastic on the back of the ear cups and the soft leather complements the memory foam in the ear pads just like a pillow wrapped around your head... but the only difference is this time it’s for your ears! The build quality is strong and the ear cups swivel 90 degrees to lie flat. Therefore Fidelio is not so portable, but Philips made sure it looks executive. If you want to untangle yourself from music while maintaining the quality, then Fidelio M1BT is the way to go, not because it look good or it’s comfortable to wear or it’s easy to use, but because of its superb sound. This beauty can be adapted even though noise-cancellation is absent and used anywhere including a museum as its pillowed enough without slips.

Sennheiser HD201 (R1,333) This inexpensive, but well-balanced headphone works perfectly without an amplifier, but sure it gains some good depth when you can use one. With this price you might expect a lot more negatives but HD201 might surprisingly be a balanced headphone as they are very lightweight which is perfect for the DJ on the go and uniquely Sennheiser HD201 have hypo-allergenic ear pads. If you don’t want to spend lot of money on your first hi-fi branded headphone, then your search surely ends here, because this Sennheiser HD201 might be the best entry-level headphone in the market and you will assiduously agree after using this Sennheiser just for half an hour.

Bose-QuietComfort-15 (R16,430)
Pro:
• Noise-c ancellatio n. • Extrem e comfort .
This revolutionary QuietComfort 15 might be the best noise-cancelling headphone in the world. Some of the key features of QC15 include its 34 hour battery life, its long-term comfort and its incredible crisp HD audio where you hear every single instrument in every song with clarity. This Bose QC15 is promoted precisely as the best noisecancelling headphone in the market, which basically means you can get on a crowded train and still enjoy music to the core just like you do at home. The ear pads are around an inch thick, as is the headband padding, but manage to feel softer compared to other headphones in this range. Of course, all this comes with a heavy price tag, so it might be a good option for those who are looking for an upgrade rather than a starter who is looking for their first hi-fi headphone. Although it might not be the most beautiful product from Bose but its brilliant design and its bright features might overshadow its price so it’s a yes for all those who want the best from Bose.

SONY-MDR7506 (R8,500) The Sony MDR-7506 has long been a favourite headphone of recording engineers and sound professionals, not just because of its price but also because it is leaner with a more accentuated treble range, which makes it a lot crisper and livelier. It’s no wonder so many professionals have relied on the MDR-7506 to record and mix music, radio, movies, and TV shows. The closed-back MDR-7506 blocks a good amount of external noise and no one nearby will hear much sound escaping from this Sony headphone. Listening to MDR-7506 is the only way to know the reason why Sony keep selling this product for 23 years. MDR7506 with its accurate bass-midrange-treble balance and classy comfort appears perfect for studio recordings or if you just need good sound clarity. On the whole this baby from Sony is suitable for many.

JBL J55 (R3,434) The JBL J55 is mostly matte plastic, with very few parts in brushed stainless steel so it can be safely said that it is solidly built, if unapologetically plastic. JBL J55 with its reasonable price is also rugged enough to throw it inside a backpack and not worry too much. The earpads are made of soft leather that’s very plush and the flat cable is less likely to tangle compared to standard cables which is terminated by a straight 3.5 mm jack. J55 has a pivoting mechanism for DJ’s and both earcups can rotate 180 degrees which is cool. The large 40mm drivers deliver balanced sound all throughout allowing the JBL J55 to perform well across music genres. J55 comes in three notable variants such as white/grey, black and the most favourite white/orange but one more thing to note is there’s no volume control and it’s a deal breaker for many so if JBL is listening then we hope to see a built in volume rocker on these colourful J55s. The midrange is where the J55 excels with decent bass so for all your music needs JBL is here to fulfil.

Logitech-UE9000 (R19,000) One of the best Bluetooth headphones, the UE 9000 is uses the Bluetooth 2.1+EDR protocol, and pairing is absolutely straightforward and simple. It has its limitations other than its price like its noise-cancelling features can’t be turned off in Bluetooth Mode but on the same time the UE9000 has a nicely thought out set of features such as a talk through button. With the power off and cable attached the noise cancelling circuits are enabled. The sound quality was a lot better with the headphone setting and the talk through feature is enabled only while wirelessly listening to music, and is unavailable while on a phone call or during any wired operation. You will appreciate each of the physical features and the solid build of this UE 9000 the more and more you use this Bluetooth belter. To sum up, this UE 9000 might be the right option for all those who want solid sound as well as freedom from wires.
AKG K451 (R13,393) This good looking, good-sounding headphone comes with full, powerful and bouncy bass response that makes it sound more vibrant. A foldable design for easy stowage, plus an additional cable that has volume controls and an in-line mic instantly makes every smartphone user smile. Also if you like it loud, there’s a surprising amount of control across the frequency spectrum so your neighbours can’t overhear a thing because while the design makes them look open-backed but they’re actually closed. AKG K451 purposefully avoids the uninspiring “wall of sound” effect that is disliked so much in other ultra-popular headphones so Bravo AKG or its fitting to say “gut gemacht”. One of the interesting fact about AKG is that it got a Technical Grammy award in 2010 and with products like AKG K451 it’s safe to assume that there is lot more to come.

Sound-Magic P30 (R1,499) This budget on-ear belter is called P30 and it’s from a relatively new company called SoundMagic. Sound-Magic P30 is a decent portable headphone featuring an on-ear, closed back design with soft, comfortable ear pads that also ensure maximum noise isolation. Exciting and balanced, they deliver an easy-going yet dynamic sound. They aren’t perfect, especially in the treble, but they’ll do a great number on your mediocre Spotify tracks. There’s no built-in mic but considering its price you can positively see it as a blessing in disguise because you don’t want calls interrupting your music anyway. Right? This absolutely awesome budget headphone is perfect for a starter and as the name suggests musical magic will main event your party when you own this SoundMagic P30.

Shamitabh Scripted and directed by R. Balki, Shamitabh features Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan, in her debut, in the lead roles. Bachchan lends his voice to Dhanush who reportedly plays a deaf and mute junior artiste in the film. The reason behind the film’s title is that the film has its name derived from the duo’s names in which ‘Sh’ from Dhanush was added as a prefix to Amitabh, therefore becoming Shamitabh.

The Window Seat Mithila Mehta pens an ode to what she calls “the most remarkable place in the world”— the window seat! Illustrations by Rishabh Mehta
S
ome months ago, I came up with a fairly interesting thought which went like this—there are two types of people in the world: ‘Aisle People’ and ‘Window People’. Aisle People are practical, no-nonsense and in a hurry, while Window People are dreamers and gazers.

FEBRUARY 2015 / HAPPY FLYING!
No prizes for guessing which side of the fence I belong to. My favourite place in the world could well be the window seat of an airplane—sitting snug, nose pressed firmly against the porthole and eyes wide in wonder. In fact, it was in this very place that I fell in love with planes and flying— irrevocably so.
Window views Looking out of the porthole midair fills me with a sense of wonder. There is a little bit of magic in the fact that human beings can fly, for example— and soar among the skies! With a breathtaking view at every instant, the window seat simply never gets boring. While you wait for other
passengers to board, peer out at the tarmac life in motion. As you taxi towards the take-off strip, admire the twinkling runway lights in different colours. Take-off is incredibly special, as the cityscape rapidly diminishes into toy size. Views of the massive clouds and sweeping skies make for super panoramas. Has the world ever looked lovelier? Do keep your cellphone camera handy— social media is a sucker for photographs clicked out of plane windows. Sights galore Call me a window seat
58
FEBRUARY 2015 / HAPPY FLYING!
nerd, but I sometimes pick flight times to coincide with sunrise or sunset. The spectacular golden hues and shades of the sky at these times is just unbelievable—in fact, watching the sunrise midair is pretty much the only redeeming factor for extremely early morning flights. The next step? Choosing which side of the plane to be seated based on sunrise/sunset patterns and the flight path. Beat that! Apart from the midair sunrises and sunsets (each more spectacular than the other) various other window seat views remain etched in my head. Flying over the
beautiful Alps, covered in a sheet of white snow (and the snowline clearly visible) was a marvelous experience, as was landing into Las Vegas in all its neon glory. Flying southward from Kolkata will have you follow the beaches down the east coast of India, while landing into Srinagar is a dizzying sight of descending amid majestic mountains. During Diwali, flying amid fireworks is absolutely magical. If you are flying in a tiny propeller plane, the window seat will give you an interesting view of the propeller at work. Spotting a rainbow midair is a beautiful sight too. Recently, a friend of mine was fortunate to catch a very unique midair occurrence from his window seat. Called ‘Glory of Pilot,’ it is an optical phenomenon where the plane’s shadow is seen on a cloud below, encircled by a spectacular rainbow-coloured halo. The glory can only be seen when the observer is directly between the sun and cloud of refracting water droplets, making it extremely special. Despite everything, however, my favourite window seat moment remains landing into Mumbai. I’ve been away from home for almost five years and have made countless trips back—but still get goosebumps every time I see my beautiful, twinkling city unfolding below in spectacular fashion. Foxtrot musings I feel rather pained when I see people around me “wasting” their window seats (especially if I haven’t been fortunate enough to get one.) Seeing people sleep during takeoff makes my heart bleed (the nerve!)—and fiddling on your laptop or reading a book with the window shutter
closed is just plain rude to the stunning views outside! As a child, I remember arriving at the airport hours early just so that I could get a window seat. I’d make it a point to ask every crew member why the windows couldn’t be made bigger (Interestingly enough, they never gave me a satisfactory answer). Today, everything has changed and still nothing has changed. These days, thanks to web check-in, the erstwhile question of “window or aisle” just doesn’t get asked anymore. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I heard it! In fact, if you forget to web check-in, you can pretty much wave goodbye to your window seat (chances are you will be stuffed in the unwanted middle seat).
60
FEBRUARY 2015 / HAPPY FLYING!
Little joys Apart from the gorgeous views, the little joys of the window seat are many. The window makes for an excellent headrest during long flights, so you can grab some precious sleep. You aren’t relentlessly forced out of your seat by ‘shameless’ co-passengers with small bladders. The clamour and chaos of food service doesn’t affect you (no chance of having your foot run over by the whimsical food trolley). These days, the window seat is no longer quite as simple as before. High technology has eliminated the little plastic window shutter. For example the Boeing 787 Dreamliner has a dial which tints windows instead. It’s only a matter
of time before portholes get bigger and better—and window seats get more glamorous than ever before. Till then, it’s time to sit back and enjoy the window seat views and feeling the magic in every instant!

H
air transplantation is a surgical procedure used for the correction of androgenic alopecia (AGA), cicatricial (scarring) alopecia, or any form of permanent hair loss in both men and women. In hair transplantation, newly created tiny grafts of “permanent” hair are distributed artistically over the balding scalp according to a carefully planned pattern. They quickly take
root and, after a short resting period of four to six months, grow—and keep on growing for the rest of your life. There are two methods of hair transplant. Follicular unit transplant (FUT) which is also known as the strip method and another method is Follicular unit extraction (FUE) commonly known as suture-less or scar-less method. To create great hair transplant
results, a good amount of artistic ability is necessary on the part of the surgeon. He must have a “feel” for how to aesthetically create natural, feathered gradients of hair that are totally undetectable to those who will encounter that patient in the years to come. Establishing this mutual understanding is one of the most effective ways to increase overall patient satisfaction.
Dr. Soni is an internationally accredited hair transplant surgeon who has more than 1500 successful hair transplant in his credit. He is the Director of Medispa Laser and Cosmetic Surgery Centre. With ultra modern techniques Medispa has established most advanced hair transplant center in country. Currently Medispa has its presence in Delhi, Jaipur, UK & UAE. Aesop’s Fables (Translated by George Fyler Townsend)
Trivia Time!! Once in England, because of a water spout, it rained frogs!
The Fox and the Goat A fox one day fell into a deep well and could find no means of escape. A goat, overcome with thirst, came to the same well, and seeing the fox, inquired if the water was good. Concealing his sad plight under a merry guise, the fox indulged in a lavish praise of the water, saying it was excellent beyond measure, and encouraging him to descend. The goat, mindful only of his thirst, thoughtlessly jumped down, but just as he drank, the fox informed him of the difficulty they were both in and suggested a scheme for their common escape. “If,” said he, “you will place your forefeet upon the wall and bend your head, I will run up your back and escape, and will help you out afterwards.” The goat readily assented and the fox leaped upon his back. Steadying himself with the goat’s horns, he safely reached the mouth of the well and made off as fast as he could. When the goat upbraided him for breaking his promise, he turned around and cried out, “You foolish old fellow! If you had as many brains in your head as you have hairs in your beard, you would never have gone down before you had inspected the way up, nor have exposed yourself to dangers from which you had no means of escape.”
Angel Falls in Venezuela is 20 times taller than Niagara Falls. A palindrome is a word that is spelled the same way from both ends. For example: racecar The longest movie made lasts 85 hours and is fittingly titled The Cure for Insomnia. Animals with some of the longest lives are the Marion’s tortoise (152 years), the fin whale (116 years) and the deep-sea clam (100 years). The Amazon rain forest supplies onefifth of the world’s oxygen!
About 20 percent of the earth’s land is made up of desert, and the world’s largest desert is the Sahara of North Africa. The smallest dog recorded was a Yorkie and was only four inches tall. An electric eel can produce a shock of 600 volts. That’s enough to stun large animals and even knock a horse off its feet! Scientists believe that diamond rains occur on Neptune and Uranus. The heart of these planets may be a layer of diamonds hundreds of miles thick. The 14-foot-long narwhal is a whale whose tooth can reach up to eight feet long!
Lesson: Look before you leap.
The Oxen and the Axle-Trees A heavy wagon was being dragged along a country lane by a team of oxen. The axle-trees groaned and creaked terribly; whereupon the oxen, turning round, thus addressed the wheels: “Hello there! Why do you make so much noise? We bear all the labour, and we, not you, ought to cry out.” Lesson: Those who suffer most cry out the least.
The thirsty Pigeon A pigeon, oppressed by excessive thirst, saw a jug of water painted on a signboard. Not supposing it to be only a picture, she flew towards it with a loud whir and unwittingly dashed against the signboard, jarring herself terribly. Having broken her wings by the blow, she fell to the ground, and was caught by one of the bystanders. Lesson: Zeal should not outrun discretion.

Fly into a “HAPPY LIFESTYLE”
Feedback While I am not a frequent flyer with Air Costa, I have been flying quite often in the recent past. Just when I was beginning to believe that the domestic airlines don’t care enough for their customers anymore, I had an opportunity to fly Air Costa and yes, they proved me wrong! I was late and the check in counter had almost wound up, but the ground staff acted real quick and made it happen!!! My special thanks to Mr. Imran, ground staff of Air Costa at the BIAL who ran the length and breadth of the airport with me and made sure I got on board just in time. Heartfelt thanks for valuing not only our time but also for your empathy. Looking forward to fly Air Costa in the times ahead. Regards, Dr. Rafia Facilitator-Janaagraha (NGO)

“An unexamined life is not worth living” said Socrates many years ago. Knowledge about one’s own self is the first step in the exploration of life. The human body is the most mysterious object in this world. The pysical composition of the body is very simple with 70% water and 30% matter. But its physiology and psychology are beyond the comprehension of anybody. It is not an exaggeration to say that there is no organisation in the world which is as complex, but compact as the human body. 60 trillion cells work in unison in the body, each one performing a specific duty right from its birth to death. It’s a wonder to know from the zoologists that the microscopic cell in the human body is not yet fully analysed! Each organ in the body is a mystery! There is no computer in the world which is as powerful as the human brain. According to a computer expert, if a computer has to perform the normal jobs that are performed by the human brain in twenty four hours, a computer the size of New York City would need to be built! Of the 30 billion cells in human brain, the capacity of a single neuron is that it can store the matter that is there in five encyclopedias! Even a great scientist like Einstein is supposed to have utilized less than 1% of the total brain power. Just imagine as to what extent we are making use of this wonder-object! For routine errands like eating, walking and sleeping, the brain is not necessary; the spinal cord is more than sufficient! The eye is another mysterious organ which makes 1.5 million caluclations in a fraction of second and provides data to the brain for recognising things. There is no caluclator which is equal to the human eye. When we know the greatness and grandeur of our body, mind and spirit, we start using them properly.

Namaskaram! I sincerely appreciate and thank Mr. Venkat for being so kind to me today... I would not have landed in Bangalore if he had not stretched to accommodate me in the evening flight from Coimbatore to Bangalore. He was very understanding and tried his best to help me make the flight. I take this opportunity to thank the whole team of Air Costa for having such excellent people in the team! Moreover, the flight attendants were also very friendly and helpful.... I travelled with Air Costa for the first time today and the feeling is so good! I would definitely recommend it and travel more often with it! Many thanks. Cheers Uma Maheswari R. Correspondent Naahar Public school, Tamil Nadu
