ARE YOU THE
The talk of Orlando this week is Ms. Toni Blair of Ladies1st entertainment. Started in 2005, with the help of Pat Nix and Rashad Tyler, Ladies 1st has made a major impression on the fashion, modeling and event scene here in O-town. Taking the scene with unique dance/modeling routines meanwhile uplifting women with a “grown and sexy” image has made this organization one to watch…
Toni Blair For those who don’t know, who is Ladies 1st Entertainment?
Ladies 1st is a female promotional and model management company in Orlando. We plan/host theme events throughout the year like Studio 54 Orlando (fashion party last held at Blue Martini Orlando. You can find pictures from Studio 54 on www.StyleToMe. com, and our yearly Halloween Burlesque Lingerie and Costume Party. We produce fashion shows with local designers/boutiques & models, host parties, and dance (known for doing classy choreographed dance routines) at local events like Dragon 1st Tuesday. What is the vision/mission of Ladies 1st? How do you see your organization progressing in 5yrs? Our vision and mission is to expand our services through all aspects of the fashion and entertainment field. We plan events, choreograph innovative routines and shows exceeding the expectations of our clients. We also represent and manage some of Orlando’s most beautiful and exotic women. There are a lot of entertainment/promotion companies in central Florida, What would you say is the secret to the success of your company? We always keep it about the Ladies 1st. Beautiful woman in a room always set the right tone for any atmosphere. We try to stay away from weekly or even monthly events in order to build the right level of anticipation. As a model yourself & manager of models, what would you recommend to an “up & coming model”?

I recommend they research they’re role models in the industry. Study the paths they took to become that successful model, dancer, or actress. I would caution them to stay away from the T & A (Tits and Ass) type of
modeling. We encourage woman to be sexy with class. Over exposing yourself to get in will only limit the work you get. It will keep you in a very small bracket of a very large business. Show different ranges on resumes and comp cards.
Frontline Promotions told me that if I can stick it out for 5 years then I have the ability to keep in going. I’m excited to be celebrating our 5 yr anniversary year.
What are your proudest achievements as a model? What are some events you would like to be a part of?
I enjoy working with Dwayne Moore on photography projects/events. Pat Nix & JDZ from Frontline Promotions. DJ Chino, DJ Nasty, and Ricky Padilla for allowing us to take over Dragon Room 1st Tuesday with our fashion and dance shows since 2006 & Chris Turner from Hollywood East Entertainment.
My biggest thus far was being the face of the “Sisters take charge of your Health” Campaign. It’s a national women’s health conference that travels the country teaching young women about health, finance, and education. What do you look for in a model, photographer, organization you would like to work with? I look for personality in a model 1st, and then their ability to model and dance. The industry has a vast demand for all shape, sizes, and ethnicities, so we are excited to embrace anyone who is simply good at what they do. When looking for a photographer I seek those who are serious about taking their work to the next level. A good photographer has to see beyond the lens, and capture the figure. He also has to know how to direct the model. I enjoy working with some Orlando’s best including Dwayne Moore, Edz Antoine (currently shooting Ladies 1st Pin-Up Calendar), Claude Studios, and Bryon Price of Orlando Style Magazine. What do you think the Orlando Nightlife scene needs to get recognized more nationally as a “place to be/ party”? We need a big event like Canada has Carabana, or Miami had Carnival. Something people have to come to every year, and love to the point where they come back just to party. Hopefully the new arena and other new downtown venues will help with this. We have this Disney brand labeled on the city to such an extreme that I feel we may never be able to compete with Miami or even Atlanta. We can’t get comfortable with doing the same events expecting new things. This will only stunt the growth of Orlando’s Nightlife when we need to excel. Hopefully the All-Stars in 2012 will help also.
What have been some of your favorite events/ organizations to work with?
What other current or upcoming events does Ladies1st Ent. have in store for the city of Orlando? We are currently shooting for our Pin-Up Calendar. It’s a Vintage Shoot with some of the Ladies 1st Models. We are planning our 5 year Anniversary party in December with some special guest models. Look out for my reggae ventures under A Blair-Rich Project. Any “shout-outs” at this time? I’d like to shout out Christina Clark for giving me a shoulder when I was about to give up & great advice to keep me going. To Mert Smith for always being a big brother & helping push me to the next level. Shelly Flash of Event Junkies bringing Art & Music Culture to life, FootWork Ent bringing life & energy to the dancehall scene & helping with dance choreography. I extend extra love to Miss Porctia Symone who has held Ladies 1st down for 4 yrs. She choreographs routines & produces scenes for our shows, all while working on her own career as a singer/songwriter & professional Mac make-up artist. I don’t know what I would do without her constant dedication & help with the development of our models. To all the Ladies 1st models & dancers I appreciate you 100%. I look forward to our journey into the main stream. Can’t wait to hear Ladies 1st tagged. Join me as I build a brand of Class & sex appeal among beautiful woman in Orlando. & of coarse to TalkofOrlando.com!
What advice would you give to someone interested in promotions/marketing? Establish a business savings, rapport with sponsors and investors, and prepare yourself for a few gut punches. I’ve been doing this for 5 years and I’m still learning and finding my perfect niche. Pat Nix of www.flyerpromonow.com

rowing up when I was playing sports they always tried to instill in my team and I that it wasn’t always about winning but more about having fun. I always thought that was a ridiculous concept. I mean really who plays to lose? Losing just isn’t fun especially when you’re doing it all the time. Do you think the Dallas Cowboys are out on the field having fun? I don’t. On a positive note at least America’s team has won one game, unlike the Buffalo Bills who have yet to take home a W. Half way through the season the teams with the best records are the Giants, the Jets, the Steelers and the Patriots who are all 6-2. The Packers and the Saints who have a bye this week are currently 6-3. The Bengals who are 2-6 need to pull some tricks out of hat or someting. With a schedule like theirs coming up they need all the help they can get. They play the Colts, the Saints, the Jets and the Steelers. Things aren’t looking so good for super stars Ochocinco and T.O. as of halftime. I can’t believe that it is already halfway through the football season. I wait all Spring and Summer for the sesason to start and then it gets here and flys by. Thus far I have been pretty satisfied with how the season has played out, with the exception of the new rule. If you aren’t familiar the commissioner has implemented a new rule about hard hits. A rule to which I disagree. These men have been trained to “Go Hard or Go Home,” and now they are asking them to go soft or get fined. I get the fact that it’s about the players’ protection but if you can’t stand the heat get out the kitchen, right? Don’t get me wrong I’m not opposed to player safety but when you think football you think hard hits and tough men. When players start pulling up to avoid getting fined or suspended it is a risk of more injuries. Every athlete knows that when you play scared or timid to get hurt that is what ends up happening. I’ll just wait and see exactly how this whole rule change turns out at the end of the season.
The Orlando Magic have begun there season and as of presstime are undefeated in the new Amway Arena. Yes they suffered a bad loss to the Heat but as

we all know, you win some and you lose some. I will be honest though that was a loss I didn’t want to take. I get the point behind all the excitement of the Heat. They are supposed to be a force to be reckoned with. But the Magic have made it to the Eastern Conference finals back to back which is no easy task, especially not the way teams in the East have stacked their starting line ups and benches in the past few seasons. Most of which was done to handle Orlando’s own Dwight Howard; who has expanded his game this season which should allow him to score more points. With that being said We definitely shouldn’t have laid down the way we did. I’m sure the blame could be pointed in many directions, and it probably was but there is no point in dwelling on the past. Beisdes, we play them again on the Wednesday the 24th at home. Another big game coming to Central Florida is FAMU vs BCC. That’s right it’s classic time. The 6-3 Rattlers will take on the undefeated Wildcats. Bethune-Cookman has been climbing higher in the rankings with each passing week. Does this intimidate FAMU? I’m going to guess that it doesn’t. The Wildcats won’t be the toughest opponets that the Rattlers have faced this year. On the contrary the Wildcats are undefeated as of presstime and I’m sure they won’t want to lose that title. Will you be in attendance to watch one of our state’s biggest rivalries? Normally I’m a Rattler fan by default but this year I think I’d like to see the Wildcats take home the W. One last thing before I leave you until next time.... Michael Vick is back! I’m happy to see him starting again and I’m even more estatic that he is killing them on the field. Quick Question, do you think McNabb left in order to save his Job? Or because he felt like it was just time for him to move on? Just something for you to contemplate. Yes Vick did get injured during the Redskins game, but is it possible he laid down to pay homage to his former teammate that helped paved the way back to the land of starting quarterbackdom?

Classic Weekend is approaching soon what do you have in store for Central Florida and the whole south to put Sanford aka Bokey on the map? Grissle: Well, right now I have a couple of shows lined up that weekend. I have two shows lined up with G-Money. I’m pushing my single “5 in the Morning” ft. P.I. Bang through the streets. I was gonna to drop my mix tape but I figured everybody else would be out there with their mix tapes trying to push it just as hard. I’mma drop my mix tape “Animated” hopefully we have DJ X-Rated host it out of Atlanta, GA. We was gonna push it for the 31st but we gonna drop it to the streets a few days after the classic and bust them hard. I’mma just drop my posters and put the streets ear out for it. All these things cost money.; Can you explain on how life was growing up in Sanford and the relationship between Sanford and Orlando was? Nuk Grissle: Over here we looked at it like a country town. We used to have a house sit on bricks on a country dirt road. If somebody got mad at you they would take a brick from under your house. If they didn’t come over to our area then we wouldn’t go to their area. My music is good vibing music which keep everybody laughing and upbeat. I’m probably one of the only artist from Sanford who can go to Orlando and still be respected and loved. It used to be a little bad blood back then but I’m trying to bridge the gap these days. Who were your major influences in and out of the industry and what made you pursue a career in the rap game? Honestly, I followed my brother who is a DJ he’s seven years older than me I used to be a git back then. I loved Mystikal, MJG, and Andre 3000 then when Ludacris came I followed his style. I put all these styles and personalities together and kind of meshed my own. Nick: I read that you wrote your first rap at the age of 7. Do you remember what it was and the concept behind it? It wasn’t any concept behind it. Quote for quote it was “My name is Nuk and I’mma cookie crook”. When Bow Wow came out he had somebody write for him I was just making it up as it went but long as it rhymed it was golden to me. These days some artist don’t even rhyme in their lyrics and they been in the game for years.

Do you compare your style of flow and also your thought process to any other rapper in the game or do you feel your method is completely unique? I follow Mystical a whole lot but I think my style is my own. I think outside the box I don’t try to write my rhyme in 10 minutes. I might listen to it for a whole week before I even get in the booth and touch it. I let it marinate on my brain and might change a word or two to critique it. I think where people mess up is they try to mimic a big artist in the game which might get your foot in the door but won’t give u longevity in the game. I’m trying to be on that plateau so I’m trying to bring my own swag and get people to feel my flow. I’ve seen you have worked with many mainstream artists who has had the most impact on your career thus far and strived you that success can be reached?
and then go right back. We see T.I. going back to jail and say he crazy but you look at some of these other celebrities Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan for example who get caught who seem every other week they go to rehab or counseling. As black folks they try to throw the book at us so we have to be more cautious. So if you gonna use these type of controlled substances and things just do it behind closed doors I’m not saying I’m condoning it but do it responsible.
My name is Nuk and I’m a cookie crook.
Jim Jones hands down when I was with him. He produced several different artist hits I like his worth ethic. I’ve seen him work from a couple of dollars to several million dollars. My first mix tape was called Million Dollar Mouthpiece and he gave me 6 free beats to work with. I have dropped two more after that and I’m just trying to make them better and better so yall keep a lookout for my new mix tape “Animated”. What has been your most memorable show to date?
My most memorable show was in Tallahassee in Leon County. Like a couple of years back at FAMU Homecoming with Lil Jon and Ludacris. It was the most fun the atmosphere was ridiculous. It might have not been the best show I ever did but the energy was amazing. Rapper Lil Wayne has just been released from jail and T.I. has just been sent back to jail. Can you explain your feelings towards rappers making these mistakes and getting caught up in situations when they really have no business doing so with the wealth and fame that they have accomplished? I don’t understand it but who am I to judge. Just because you have money now doesn’t mean it change the person. We see people everyday who been to jail
How can you be contacted for bookings and shows? I also seen the video for the new single “5 in the Morning” with Orlando’s own P.I. Bang where can the readers catch that? Well, as for the video it can be purchased on Itunes.com, or be found on various sites such as worldstarhiphop.com, you tube.com/nuk grissle, www. keyent-fl.com, pibangonline.com, and CSRpromo.com. Also, for booking purposes you can contacted Key
Entertainment at (407) 590-7691 and speak with Commercial Cory.
Do you have any other thoughts you would like to share with your fans and the readers of the magazine? Watch out for that new Nuk Grissle mix tape “Animated” something Central Florida ain’t never heard before. It’s gonna be the best work I put out yet. I’mma tell you a lot of people ain’t really F*** with us like that at the beginning but like they say if you can’t beat them join them and they definitely can’t beat me cuz. We bout to stomp on they head with this one cuz. Straight up and that’s what it is!!! Interview By: Nick Grace www.flyerpromonow.com

Why Is Lil Wayne The Best Rapper Alive? With Lil Wayne out of jail, the spotlight on his career is brighter than ever. But the myth surrounding Wayne sometimes obscures just why, exactly, people love him so much. So let's explain Wayne.
I
t's an irony that inspired an entire book. In Killing Yourself To Live, Chuck Klosterman wanders around the country visiting the death sites of some of history's greatest musicians, all of whom were taken in the midst of their prime. At the center of his investigation is a simple question—why is death the greatest career move of all? By disappearing, their myth becomes inescapable. Kurt Cobain... Jimi Hendrix... Duane Allman... Bob Marley... John Lennon... 2Pac and Biggie... Elvis. And those are just the biggest names. It's not that they weren't appreciated while they were here, but by disappearing at the height of their influence, a mythology emerged in their wake that made them more meaningful. Death can turn a 12-song album into something more than music. And death is something that's followed Lil Wayne as he's evolved from a 13 yearold afterthought to a 28 year-old icon. Not because he's a gangster in danger of some shootout, but because Wayne's far closer to the names in the above paragraph. He's not a gangster, he's an artist, tortured every step of the way by addictions that he freely admits. Addicted to recording music at an inhuman pace, and drinking prescription cough syrup that's already claimed scores of lesserknown hip-hop stars. In a completely unambiguous way, Lil Wayne spent the past few years taking over the world and taking his own life in his hands. Along with copious, unapologetic drug use, Wayne just refused to stop drinking promethazine. Even as it claimed the life of his good friend and fellow hip-hop mogul Pimp C, he told MTV, "Why focus on me? Don't compare me to no one. Don't compare me to no one who has passed, and why they passed." "Don't judge me," he continued. "You wanna judge me, put on a black gown and get a gavel. Get in line with the rest of them that's about to judge me. I got court dates every other month. It's me against the world—that's how I feel." And it all added to his mystique. Then he went to prison, and for nine months, the world got a taste of what music might look like without Lil Wayne. And of course, that only enhanced the mystique. Which brings us today. Lil Wayne's out of prison, and the man that the New Yorker once compared to Bob Dylan is still alive, and returning home to enjoy the height of his influence in a way that all those other artists never could. And with so many people flipping out to celebrate the return of this would-be hip-hop deity, there are just as many that still don't get it.

For every Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, two men that call themselves Weezy fans, there are still skeptics shaking their head, asking "What's so special about a rapper that raps about all the same things as other rappers? That he does it more often, and on more people's songs? That he has a weird voice? What's so earth-shattering about that?" So let's explain Lil Wayne.
People criticize him for making too much music, releasing all of it to the public, mostly free of charge. So much that it blends together into one meaningless medley of metaphors and banal messages. It makes him taboo to the purists. Because hip-hop began as a movement, and lyrics are supposed to mean something. Weezy is just proof that true hip-hop is dead, according to critics.
Because it's true; he talks about nothing different from any other would-be gangster rhyming about women, drugs, guns, and money.
But what if he's personifies rebirth? What if the death of hip-hop coincided with its acceptance among the mainstream, and suddenly, it's just another genre. If you can look at it that way, you begin to see why meaning is mostly irrelevant. Nobody worries Nirvana's angsty, anti-social messages. With them, it's all about the music, and how it's different than anything we've heard from anybody else.
Isn't that what's wrong with hip-hop? I was on a date recently with a girl who doesn't like rap. When I pressed her for an explanation, she said, "It just all sounds the same, you know? "I'm cool I'm cool I'm cool," she continued. "I take drugs I have sex I'm cool I'm I'm cool I'm cool I'm cool I have guns I kill people I'm tough I'm cool I'm cool I'm cool. That's every rap song, ever." She's totally right, of course. As far as mainstream Hip-Hop's concerned, that pretty much nails it on the head. But as I stammered to defend my musical tastes, I added, "The creativity isn't necessarily about what they're saying. It's how they say it." And that's where Wayne wins. He's better than anybody on earth. When he raps about drugs: "red drank, blue pill, white dust, yes I love my country bitttttttttch!" Or when he raps about money, he's "Young Velveta, cheesy Weezy." About women: "Bet my fingers can turn you on like a television, turn it to the weather channel, 'cause I make it rain girl, you just been on Planet Earth, but you never been to Wayne's World." About snitches: "I walk around with a mice trap, niggas with cheese don't like rats." On hate: "And hate is at an all-time high, everybody gotta hate, it's like a fuckin ipod. Or drugs again: "I can mingle with the stars, or throw a party on Mars. I am a prisoner, locked up behind xanax bars."
Why should hip-hop be different? Instead of a guitar, Wayne's best instrument is his drug-addled, wandering mind and the raspy, blunt-weathered voice that goes with it. Coherence is beside the point. Who needs meaning when you can rap over a Beatles sample and say, "I'm from the dirt where the Beatles and John Lennon be at, and these niggas lookin' yellow like a penalty flag." If you want to get really abstract with it—as far as hip-hop's rebirth is concerned—you could argue he's the first post-modern rapper we've ever had. And when you consider the backstory behind his rise to the top, that's where the meaning begins to take shape. The creativity, though. The playful humor, the vivid metaphors, the confidence. It's what makes him resonate in a way that nobody else could ever imitate, and it comes through when you look closely at the lyrics. "My thoughts wild, my ideas are scattered," he rhymes, "but we are young money, and age doesn't matter." If that were a Bob Dylan lyric, we might say that's a metaphor for life or something. But it's hip-hop, so people call it nonsense.
Or when he raps about rap: "I know the game is crazy, it's more crazy than it's ever been. But I'm married to that crazy bitch, call me Kevin Federline."
Whatever though. That's the beauty of Lil Wayne. He clearly doesn't care, and neither do the fans that understand him. While everyone else strains to fill a creative vacuum in 2010, Wayne's completely detached, bouncing from studio to studio, recording non-stop, and adding to a legend that not everyone can totally appreciate.
Weaving together arcane pop culture references with unlikely metaphors, a playful sense of humor, and the swagger that underpins every rap song, ever, Lil Wayne plays into every stereotype that's ever plagued gangster rap, then makes it all original and irresistible.
But as far as understanding Wayne is concerned, and why he's the best, you can choose a million different lines or songs to focus on, but in the end, it's sort of perfect when he raps, "Analyzing, criticizing, you should realize what I am and start epitomizing." Exactly. www.flyerpromonow.com

Josh Oglesby
(born January 15, 1981), better known by his rap name “FyeBoy”, is a native of Daytona Beach, FL, the city in which he started his entertainment lifestyle. As a child, he became interested in the development of music while watching hip hop music videos during his recreational time; the vocals and lyrical content are what left lasting impressions for the years to come.
F
yeboy grew up in the church and lived at home with both parents, which presently plays a major part in his spiritual well-being. Throughout his years of growing up, he was always active in sports such as football and basketball and during his middle school years, he played the Tuba in the school’s band. Fyeboy has always been proactively driven and with his drive and determination his entrepreneurship skills came into play. In 2000, Fyeboy began planning and executing major concerts, that featured unsigned and signed music artists, in his hometown to generate revenue that would contribute to the process of starting his own business. His first promotional project was with Cash Money’s formerly signed artist B.G. in which the concert was a sellout within days. Since then Fyeboy has done promotional projects with and for Blood Raw, Brick Boy Click, Field Mob, Ginuwine, Grandaddy Souf, JT Money, Lil’ Jon, Lil Wayne & Squad Up, Plies, Trina, Sticks, Supa Gutta, Tampa Tony, Ying Yang Twins and many other artists not previously mentioned. In 2003, Fyeboy became the CEO and Founding Father of Fire Boy Entertainment, Inc. (FBE) in which he built self-sufficiently from the ground up. Fire Boy Entertainment, Inc. is an entertainment company that houses a record label, a CD/DVD Duplication Print Shop, a Hip Hop One Stop, an Online Radio Station (I-95 tha’ Ride), a Digital Magazine (The Movement Digital), Fire Boy Promotions and two recording studios. At just the age of 21, Fyeboy opened up his very first, avant-garde, recording studio and since then has also incorporated another one under Fire Boy Records, Inc. (FBR), in the locations of Daytona Beach, FL and Atlanta, GA. There is an array of well-known artists, celebrities, and producers that have worked with Fire Boy Records, Inc. on a variety of business levels. Artists and Celebs that have worked with FBR include: 102 Jamz, Young Money’s Gutta Gutta; Maybach Music Group’s Triple C’s and Gunplay; JT Money; Former
Host of BET’s Tha Basement, Big Tigger and Former Hosts of BET’s 106 & Park, Free & AJ, etc… Producers that have worked hand-in-hand with FBR include but are not limited to: Mistro, MGeezy, Schife, Stan Jones, OZ n da’ Deacon, and a host of others. After realizing his unbearable passion for music, Fyeboy decided his next project would be rap. Recent reviews have labeled him “Master P of the 2000s”. Fyeboy has a unique style that clearly sends a message in each verse that is bound to touch men and women alike. His music has a meaningful spirit that incorporates his true feelings, religion, and his past and present lifestyles. Fyeboy busies himself by independently grinding his way to the top with a determination to be heard. Fyeboy refused to sleep until he was heard. He faced many sleepless nights while he was out on the town selling CD’s out of the trunk of wrapped cars and vans; to date he has distributed more than 20,000 CD’s. In 2009, Fyeboy was a feature write-up in the August/September issue of Crunk Magazine. His deprivation for success has been semireplenished due to a recently signed distribution deal with IMG Recordings/Universal Music Group. Fyeboy’s first single “iGrind iHustle” was released on July 6, 2010 and is available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, and all online distributors. He is also set to release his first solo project this year. There are several tours and other projects in the planning process for the near future as well. Fyeboy is destined to light the world in flames with his originality. Be on the lookout for Fyeboy in a city near you so you can witness firsthand the life of a real Fire Boy.
