Well my name is Ashley Marie but my friends call me Rockstar Ashley and let me tell you a little about myself. I’m a 25 years old and on the 6th if August (Leo’s baby!!!) I’ll be 26. I’ve been modeling on and off now for the past four and a half years ago to make so e extra cash for my daughter and it just took off from there.I started out doing fashion shows for local shops in Winter Park and local designers then I moved up to more tattoo/ alternative and motorcycle modeling. I’ve been featured in Hot Bike Magazine in December 2012 and Baggers Magazine in October 2012 along with Rebel Ink Pinups online this past year. I got my first tattoo when I was 16 and I knew from then on out it was down hill for me. I just fell in love with it. They say the body is a temple so why not decorate the walls. I’ve got a full sleeve on my left arm which is all color and a portrait of Marilyn Monroe on my right arm which will eventually turn into a full sleeve of old Hollywood, both of my ribs done, a thigh piece and many other places too.

FPN: How did you get the name “Slim The Boss?” Well, for two years it was just Slim. Then I moved to Miami. Through my travels and experience it, showed me I had to step up my game and my name!!!!! FPN: Any advice to aspiring or current dancers? If you decide to follow, have a goal and don’t just spend and splurge. Have some money set aside when it gets slow. Make sure you have a full understanding that it’s not just dancing on a pole and making money. Beware of the habits and the side effects that come with this game or it’s a wrap! FPN: How do you keep your routine fresh every time you step out? You have to stay ahead of the game knowing what’s hot and current in the industry. FPN: Are you currently dating? ACE HOOD

TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS By William Cannon

Ace Hood takes a step in the right direction with his new album “Trials & Tribulations,” an album filled with trap-style beats that compliment Ace’s rhymes. But will it set him apart from the pack? After three studio albums and countless mixtapes, it seems Ace Hood is as determined as ever to prove himself with the release of Trials & Tribulations. His first studio album since 2011’s Blood, Sweat, & Tears, Ace has spent the past two years soaring upward through the Hip Hop ranks on the back of monstrous singles and starstudded remixes such as DJ Khaled’s “Bitches & Bottles” and Hood’s own smash hit “Bugatti”, the remix featuring heavy hitters Wiz Khalifa, T.I., Meek Mill, French Montana, 2 Chainz, Future, DJ Khaled and Birdman. Ace is no stranger to the Hip Hop world, but has yet to find a formula for success, struggling to achieve a balance between honest, quality music and album sales. Projects like Hood’s 2012 mixtape Starvation showed signs of promise, whereas this year’s Starvation 2 seemed like a step backwards as far as accessibility goes. Trials & Tribulations plays like an autobiography, making it his most personal and insightful project

to date. The introduction starts with a church sermon entitled “Testimony.” The intro sets the tone for the entire album, which showcases Ace’s religious background and also finds him questioning whether he wants to be a man of God or a man of the streets. The title track continues this theme, each line detailing the obstacles Ace has overcome in recent years. He begs for forgiveness while describing his personal demons, and mentions the recent death of his infant daughter, which he holds himself accountable for. On the following track, “Another Statistic”, the theme is worldlier, with Ace addressing the difficulties young black men face growing up in America. He references the Trayvon Martin incident, describing the fallen teen as “another young innocent brother who met a bully”. Hood even questions the priorities of political figures

drive some listeners away, though. Also, on other more pop-oriented tracks like “Rider”, which features Chris Brown, Ace sounds out of place and somewhat clumsy. when citing the Aurora and Newtown shootings on “Fuck Da World.” However, Hood’s attempt to sound conscious and have listeners dig deeper may not ring entirely true, seeing as the artist’s biggest claim to fame is his having woken up in a new Bugatti. This isn’t to say that those issues aren’t worth speaking on, but most of the paying masses want a hook, not sentiment. You can’t knock Ace for trying, though. Of course, not all the tracks on Trials & Tribulations are deep or contemplative. Hood clearly aimed for both the club and the street with “Bugatti,” its remix and “We Outchea.” Unfortunately, having been out since January, “Bugatti” is starting to feel a a bit tired. The album picks up again with “How I’m Raised”, the mix of horns, trap style beats and extraterrestrial sound effects complementing the description of a paperchasing street life; the vocoder on the hook may

Like much of the music coming out of Florida, most of the tracks on Trials & Tribulations are based on a hard-hitting, snare-driven bass foundation - trap music, essentially. It actually works well with Ace’s style of rhyming, but by the time you get to tracks like “Fuck Da World” and “Have Mercy”, you start to feel like you’ve heard this song already. Fortunately, soulful, sample-based songs such as “My Bible” and “Mama” ensure that fans leave Trials & Tribulations with positivity and hope on the mind, so there is diversity here. The piano chords on “The Come Up”, which features Anthony Hamilton, are a muchneeded change of pace and bring variety to the album as well. There is no doubt that Trials & Tribulations is an impressive project from Ace Hood, the question is will the album have lasting appeal? Either way, it’s definitely a step in the right direction. As for his Future as an artist, what will set his work apart from the other Hip Hop albums of today is the way he balances his personal approach to making music, as well as how much he’s willing to compromise. Trials & Tribulations may be the album that finally separates Ace from the pack. www .flyerpromonow. com

RICH HOMIE QUAN story

By: Gregory Turner

W.O.D.S.: Rich Homie Quan where are you original from and how did you get started? Rich Homie Quan: I’m from East Atlanta and I got started from nothing and I was dead broke a year ago. I was actually living on the streets and I decide to get me and beat and try this music game. W.O.D.S: Is Rich Homie Quan signed to a label yet? Rich Homie Quan: At this time I’m independent and I just decided to invest in myself and make good music for the street. And my goal is to make my fan base bigger. W.O.D.S: Is the “Still Going” mix tape your second mix tape or what? Rich Homie Quan:Yes, that is the second mix

tape; the name of the first mix tape was “I Go in on Every Song.” And we reloaded it with four different songs: Some Type of Way, The Party, The Glasses Are Off My Face and Some Type of Way just took this game to a hold nother level. Some Type of Way got a national video that aired #2 and I got jam of the month on MTV. I’m also #9 on 106 & Park! W.O.D.S: What is Rich Homie Quan gonna do as far as giving back right now to the community? Rich Homie Quan: Well currently I am giving back to the community in Atlanta and we going to have a Rich Homie Quan Day Annual. And if you go to Wal-Mart in Atlanta we already have Rich Homie Quan Plaques stating that we have

gave back to the community. So I do my share, the kids are our future. W.O.D.S: So who are some of the big names we can except on the new album? Rich Homie Quan:I got Wale, Young Jezzy and Meek Millz, but before we talk about the album I got to give the people what they want, one more mix tape and keep feeding the streets. So you can except a 3rd Mix Tape!! W.O.D.S: In the city where we are from a lot of promoters are asking about “The Record Ten”. What’s going on with that? Rich Homie Quan:Well when I first started we weren’t even at ten. Now the buzz is so big so you can’t expect $10,000 now. And I still have people calling but we out here grinding. W.O.D.S: So to you promoters that $10 means $10,000 which he is no longer at. So, Rich Homie Quan do you see yourself being around for a while? Rich Homie Quan:Yes, I do because I keep God first and believe in giving the people nothing but good music. And I am here to stay and giving the people good content and making this fan base bigger than ever and keeping it as real as possible. W.O.D.S: Can we expect one more video? Rich Homie Quan:Yes, I just shot the”My Nigga” video with Young Jezzy and YG in Atlanta and we gonna a make movie with that one.
