Think Like A Man 2 Steve Harvey is back with his second installment to his box office smash “ACT LIKE A lady, THINK LIKE A MAN” The movie where Mr.Harvey gave up all our secrets, and broke up thousands of relationships. Even tho I am still upset with Steve, as a critic I must admit the movie was funny and touched on some real life topics that everyone can relate to and I couldn’t wait to see the sequal.. Which brings us to “THINK LIKE A MAN 2” directed by Tim Story and written by David A. Newman and Keith Merryman. Since this movie is still new im not going to give anything away, but basically this movie is about Cedric played by KEVIN HART messing up his friend MIcheals (played by TERRENCE J)wedding and spending the next hour trying to fix it.. THE END. . Basically this was just another Kevin Hart movie with him playing Kevin Hart. Im not saying “Like A MAN 2” didn’t have a few hilariouse scenes, cause it did. But I believe as a follow up to a real good movie, with real life issues this movie fell short. Although this movie grossed over $30million on opening weekend and as of press time was the rated the #1 movie in America, I believe a lot of people are gonna feel like me and just wait till it hit REDBOX or J-MART to see it. ~Roctone

Yee impressed her audience and bosses after a standout interview with Jay-Z, and she was hired. Yee’s ambition soon led to her own weekly nighttime show, Lip Service. The show proved to be a platform for women who were usually seen and not heard (video vixens, models, etc.) to showcase their personalities and provide unique interviews. Yee later earned her own morning show, The Morning After with Angela Yee, where she honed her craft and soon became one of the most coveted urban radio hosts. Lenard McKelvey Growing up Lenard McKelvey in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Charlamagne Tha God was just another kid dreaming of a better life, yet inevitably falling prey to the allure of the streets. He stumbled upon his calling in the late ‘90s, and within five years, was one of the best known voices in South Carolina. While on the air in Columbia, he drew attention to the local show he hosted on Hot 103.9 (WHXTFM) by distributing his controversial interviews and skits online. His irreverent interview style got the attention of Wendy Williams, who rebroadcasted his interviews on her popular syndicated radio show, The Wendy Williams Experience. He later joined the program as co-host and working with Williams not only introduced Charlamagne to a new audience, it also strengthened the voice that has defined his career – a voice he now uses to reach audiences in print, television and radio. Presently, Charlamagne is the host of MTV2’s Charlamagne and Friends and Guy Code, as well as “The World’s Most Dangerous Morning Show” The Breakfast Club. Broadcasting alongside DJ Envy and Angela Yee from Power 105 in New York City, The Breakfast Club was quickly dubbed the number one radio program in the nation by “The Source” Magazine and is widely regarded as the most informative and entertaining urban morning show today. DJ NICE The Beats of

Is the midst of all the flashing strobe lights, lasers bouncing off the floors and walls, and smoke filled air lies the Maestro. Bobbing his head to the sounds of Beat headphones he directs thousands of people as he plays, cuts, and mixes the hottest music from all over the world as the crowd chants every word. DJing is an art form in itself, and every night he is expected to create a masterpiece. It sounds like a dream job but little do people know that he is a part time promoter, part time manager, and full time hustler in addition to being responsible for making the crowd move. Born in Japan, coming down through New York, Boston on down to Orlando, DJ Nice has been doing his thing for years. He has been featured on BET’s 106th and Park and is currently accustomed to the jet life as he DJ’s everywhere from Florida to New York and everywhere in between.

How long have you been Djing and where did the name DJ Nice originate? I’m 30 years old now, and I’ve been DJing since I was like 15 or 16. DJ Nice came from growing up looking at the Funk Flex’s and Kid Capri’s, I used to be like man those dudes are nice. So I did my research on the name and no one really had it, so I took the name Nice and it’s been that ever since. What Dj’s did you look up to coming up and model your game after? Aw man it’s so many Dj’s I gotta salute. I gotta salute my man DJ Lus from Boston, DJ Gera from Boston. I looked up to my cousin Danny S. When I really got into the party scene, I looked up to DJ Nasty, Prostyle, Dissco, my man King Master Blend, my man DJ Solo. These are pretty much dudes that opened the pavement for me and

14

www .FLYERPROMONOW. com

showed me what it was. Those dudes I will always and forever show my respect to because those dudes right there really influenced my career and my life. Shotsout to the all the DJ’s if I forgot about you. I know you DJ pretty much

everywhere from Florida to New York, what the major differences between DJing in New York and DJing in Orlando? I’m in New York right now actually as we do this interview. The thing about New York is that this is the mecca, this is the Big Apple, this is where it’s at. Just this past weekend I DJ’ed with DJ Bobby Trends from Hot 97 (We The Best) and the Friday I DJ’ed with DJ Camillo from Hot 97 (Heavy

Hitters, Ciroc Boys and etcetera). It’s a blessing to be in those dudes presence, rocking out alongside them here in New York City, especially a kid from Florida. You really don’t see that too often, you don’t see Florida dudes come to New York out of nowhere and just s t a r t rocking out with these big DJ’s. I want t o

g i v e shout out to my man Russ Russ holding me down. Shout out to Dem Boys holding me down, JR the Boss, Jovay, God and

etcetera. Them dudes right there man, it’s always love when I come to New York, it’s like a 2nd home to me. It’s a privilege for me to be a dude from Florida to come to New York and DJ alongside the greats. I’m going to be out here more often. I got a lot of things cooking in the books right now, it’s going to be a hot summer. A lot of great things are happening. I did a lot of networking, one thing about New York is that you always gotta be in people’s faces and make sure your presence is there, because it’s about 50,000 other DJ’s out here trying to do the same thing you are doing. You know I been grinding for so long that I have great relationships with these DJ’s. Shout out my man Enuff I chopped it up with him last night and a lot of artists. It’s a big blessing to be a part of the New York City party scene, they know how to rock out! How has Djing evolved since you got in the game? I remember a lot of Dj’s prided themselves on using Vinyl at one point, but it seems everything is mostly digital these days. Do you still use vinyl? Man that’s a great question. I do use vinyl when it comes to Serato. Vinyls like regular record vinyl No. Do I still have vinyl in my collection? Yes. It’s been a big difference, I come from the era of Vinyls coming to New York going to the record labels, to spending my last $5 on vinyls. Not too many DJ’s can say that and I’m blessed to be a part of that era. Music is a big inspiration in my life. Around 2005-2006 that’s when Serato came along it’s a program for laptops that all your music is on your laptop. It’s like the whole world converted over, but there’s still DJ’s out there that really still do use vinyls. I just went to Rock and Soul on 34th street in New York and they still sell vinyls. So there are people that are still interested in vinyls. The game has changed a lot man, it’s like the gift and the curse. Nowadays you just carry a bookbag and you’re ready to rockout, before you used to have to call your homeboys to help you out with crates. It’s real easy now, but the culture is kind of messed up. It’s messed up because you have so many DJ’s or dudes who buy a laptop and Serato and call themselves DJ’s and really don’t know the craft behind it. I don’t see this as a hobby, this is my career, this is how I pay my bills, this is how I survive and you have other DJ’s that just do it to be in the party scene or who DJ for a hookah and a bottle. www .FLYERPROMONOW. com

15

I’m like nah, hookahs and bottles don’t pay no bills around here man. Who’s throwing the hottest parties in Orlando right now? I want to give a big shoutout to KHEEP entertainment. They’ve been keeping me working for the last couple of years man. Ricky Padilla parties, we do one of the hottest urban parties when it comes to the city. Shoutout to club Vain, Club Ono, Roxy’s. I be jumping around to 23, shoutout to my man Jae Johnson, he be holding me down. You have a lot of promoters doing their thing right now. I think I’m doing the hottest parties in Orlando right now. Once again shoutout to Kheep entertainment, my man John Kocky, my man Tony Khuu. What new artists are you listening to right now? Right now I’m working with my man Flash Garments out of Orlando. Real cool dude that has a lot of potential. We recently have been doing some work in the studio right now, getting these freestyles, about to heat up the summer. Shotout to Woop out there in Orlando doing his thing. Shoutout to Slim Goodye doing his thing. Shoutout to the people that’s behind them, they got my support 110%. Ya’ll lookout for my man Flash Garments, we’re gonna shake the city up. DJing seems to be a dream job getting paid to party sounds almost as good as the porn industry getting paid to F***. What are some of the not so glamorous moments in DJing? The politics, man the politics. Other DJ’s trying to undercut you so that they can be relevant. In Orlando they call me young OG. Salute to all the DJ’s, man just get your money and know your worth. Let’s keep this culture alive. Don’t just DJ for a look, or your name on a flyer, or like I said earlier a hookah and a bottle. There are people out here that do this forreal, forreal and you’re messing this up for the people that do it forreal. You know what I’m saying. You have a large latin following, do you DJ both reggaeton and hip hop and which genre is your favorite to DJ? I’ve been pretty much labeled as a hip hop DJ

16

www .FLYERPROMONOW. com

since I was DJing with All Pro but DJing in New York you pretty much got to play everything. I DJ a lot in these uptown clubs and there is a lot of house music, a lot of Spanish music, so I am very versatile and can pretty much do everything. I am getting back into the latin scene in Orlando. Shoutout to All Pro parties, IME parties, and LMP parties doing all the latin parties. DJ’s are known to get all the women. Do you constantly encounter women or groupie experiences when working? I’ve been through that phase, the whole groupie life, and the one nighters. As a kid that’s 30 years

old it’s time to pump my brakes and sit down and really find the one. I’m kinda in a relationship right now trying to see how things work and test those waters of being a faithful man and all that. It varies though, it used to be cool. As you get older you start to realize that you don’t go anywhere in life doing the whole groupie thing and all that. One thing about women, they’re always going to be there, these opportunities aren’t! I have to agree with my dude Nice on that, time waits for no man (or woman). When opportunities arise seize the moment, don’t get left in the background. FlyerPromoNow is back! The hottest magazine in the street! Back like we left something! WHAM! Lyrics from the late-80’s song “Self-Destruction” drew some of the biggest East Coast hip hop stars of the period during the Stop the Violence Movement with hopes of advancing a national vision of peace and unity. Some 30 years later, in the middle of the Civil Rights Movement’s 50th Anniversary, the melody may have changed, but the message remains...STOP THE VIOLENCE. “According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, African American males, ages 10-24, are the victims of murder at a rate almost nineteen times than that of their non-Hispanic, and White American peers. Statistics show that approximately two-thirds of African-American, and one-third of Hispanic/Latino children, are raised in single-parent homes. Slightly more than 25% of Hispanic, African-American, and American Indian/

Alaskan Native children live in poverty. The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, reports that nearly 1 in 4 boys of color, (except for Latino and Asian American students with disabilities), have at some point been suspended from school. African American and Latino boys, and young men, are also more likely than their white peers to have witnessed violence, in or out of the home and have parents who are/have been incarcerated.” Whether it’s domestic violence, racial violence, or gang violence, the price that we are paying as a society is beyond what we can afford. Families are being ripped apart; communities are struggling to survive; and our country is being robbed of its most valuable resources, human capital. Rappers and artists of the 80’s pleading the

KEVIN DURANT REVEALS NEW KD7’s Nike and Kevin Durant officially unveiled the Nike KD7 today, June 25th at 12 pm. Although we’ve already seen a glimpse of the KD7, Nike gave us a more in-depth look at Durant’s 7th signature, along with interviews discussing the latest in the KD line. The event was hosted by Ahmad Rashad who interviewed Durant and Nike Basketball Design Director, Leo Chang. Durant talked about how he grew up dreaming of being a weatherman, something that we’ve previously seen on KD silhouettes, and something he tried to reflect in his latest sneaker. Chang reveals that the entire process of perfecting the design can take up to 18 months, specifically for the KD7 which focused on a lighter, quicker, sneaker. The kicks feature a zoom bag in the heel, which helps in gaining a quick first step. The upper is constructed of dynamic Flywire, with hyperposite being used toward the heel. Durant, when fielding a twitter question, says he opted to bring back the strap for more stability, and because it just flat out looks cool. The strap also includes the names of his grandmother, mother, father and brother, while the outsole pays tribute to his High School coach. Other colorways of the KD7 were revealed, such as the “Global Games” which features a deep red construction, “Easy Money” which is a green upper with pink lining, and the “Calm Before The Storm” which is highlighted by a cool grey build and magenta accents.
