Austin Smith

So Mr. SMITH tell us about your self, where you from? Austin Smith, I was born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK. I’m 27 single, and NO KIDS! Pretty much I’m just a young entrounper that came into some money back in 06’ and never worked for anyone since then. I stared throwing high school parties back in 06, then went on throwing college events that year. It was about 1.5 to 2 years later I started booking concerts and I started going by the name A-Town. Then I about 2010 I started getting calls about doing events in Dallas TX that was focused around the University of Oklahoma and The University of Texas rivalry weekend which is called the Red River Shoot Out. But I had a talent of building databases in major city that grab the attention of a lot of promoters. That talent I had took me to Las Vegas where I linked up with D. Malloy of 21 Push that showed me everything about Las Vegas. So after 4+ years of throwing events I realized my golden egg was building databases in a short amount of time that’s was very valuable to promoters and club owners throwing their own events. What is the name of your company? The name of my company is Lyme Lyte Entertainment Are you a website company, a promotion company? Well I really don’t like the word promoter, not knocking because that is apart of what I do, but I do much more. But here recently I’ve leaned more towards marketing. So no I’m more than just a promoter in my eyes. But as far as www.AllStarWeekendInOrlando.com that is a website company, a brand that I created, designed, and built myself. How many people on the team? My team consists of 3 people: God, Austin Smith & Austin Dollar two totally different people living in one body! where did the idea come from to make www.allstarweekendinorlando.com site? Well the idea just hit me one day. I knew a lot of people

were going to being doing something similar, but none really that I’ve seen have done it to the level of where www.allstarweekendinorlando.com is at. Everyone wants to make money and claim they have traffic or a database that will benefit a promoter by advertising with them. I just wanted to build something that people could trust in and see a value in. And it has worked. Is this your first time creating a site like this? Ive created a few websites, but nothing like www. allstarweekendinorlando.com. So I would have to say that this was the first. It only focuses on one thing and that events NBA All-Star Weekend. All the other sites I’ve built were maybe just for one event or other promoters websites. But this is a first for a website like this, It’s all about the parties and celebrity hosted events. How much work went in to this site? A lot of work and hours went into this site. And its still a work in progress. From researching and looking for all of the promoters in Orlando, all the clubs in Orlando I can’t even count the days it took. Events are still being added daily. Then designing all the graphics myself was another job in itself. But I’m glad to say I am happy with the finished product. The concept of putting every event on the site who idea was that? All the concepts of www.allstarweekendinorlando. com was mines. I figured if I could get everyone event flyers in one place. Their was no point for people that’s interested in NBA All-Star Weekend to bounce around the web going to different sites to searching for events, when you can get it all in one place, that’s very user friendly. How much traffic does your site generate in a day? Right now my website is doing from 1k to 2k views per/day. How many events are on your site? Currently there is over 95+ events on www. allstarweekendinorlando.com. Which party are you looking forward too? far as the parties, it a hard decision to choose from, theirs so my great events that promoters are presenting that I wish I could be at all of them, but I’m looking forward to all of the events that’s hosted by Sex Symbols, No Homo, lol. I just want to be where all the mature, and beautiful women will be. www.flyerpromonow.com

ARE YOU THE

by Kris Kinville of Talkoforlando.com

In your Bio you mention how you and Big Dox formed a partnership when you relocated to Orlando. How did this bond come together? And how do you think it has contributed to your success? I credit that to God. When I first got here I was homeless basically and struggling. A mutual friend of ours introduced us. We got introduced on the phone and Dox asked me to spit something. After spitting about a 100 bars, the bond was solid from there. Dox took me into the studio for the first time; he taught me the structural and production aspects of music. Up until then I was just a freestyle artist. He polished the piece of coal into the diamond. To date, Big Dox is not only a friend, manager and producer but also my engineer and videographer. His hand is heavy. (Laughing)

I find your artistic style very chameleon like. You adapt your flow style to the beat & with each track I can hear aspects of other well know artists while still presenting a strong southern style. Is this purposeful? I like being versatile. I search for the melody in the beat, sort of like a singer finds in the music or a rift. I just grab on to it and ride. I like not being boxed into any certain style. I try to be as flexible & versatile as I can be. What was the goal/inspiration for your latest mix tape “Brown Liquor and Swishers”? With this CD I wanted to keep it true to the southern laid back style but with the aspects of a diverse background. I wanted to bridge the gap between the old school flows that the south is known for with a lot of aspects from the new school. A good majority of “southern rappers” seem to be stuck in one style of verbiage and presentation. They all sound similar and aren’t knowledgeable about where

“S.O.L” is also getting heavy rotation. Where did that one come from? Yeah, go get that on iTunes right now! That is for all those that believe I’m going to stop or fall off, you’re SOL! (Laughing) You have an extensive work ethic. How do you balance your personal life and the “limelight”? Do you find it difficult to “keep the balance”?

true southern style came from. What are your 2 favorite tracks on “Brown Liquor and Swishers” and why? Well first is “Stay True” because it tells my life’s story. I put you in the household where I grew up. It puts you directly there. I wrote the hook because mom would always tell me I would make it. And I always told myself that I would make it. There was no other choice. The Second is “Tops Drop” featuring Bighead. I feel that I brought two of the Orlando’s elite artists together to show case that southern sound. I love that beat! It’s like it’s the definition of what the south sounds like. We took it all the way there by getting really fly and using the slang. We wanted to paint a picture of “southern playalistic”. And I got to work with an artist that I respect and thought would enhance the true elements of the project. The track “What I Want” is one of my favorite tracks on the mix tape. It represents to me what a woman would want from her man who is an artist. Was the inspiration for this track from personal experience? Yes! Definitely. I feel that every male entertainer goes through the situations with their spouse where the lifestyle of the “bizz” creates conflict in your relationship. She knows all the hard work that you put into it. She knows what it takes to make it, with all the hours and hours of work in the studio, on the road and on stage. Females in every city trying to get what she’s got. It can cause a lot of strain on a “wife or wifey”. I wanted the females to feel like I was speaking to them personally when I said “You’re the one I want, no matter what else is going on. You are the reason why I’m out here trying to get it.” I also hear according to the streets your single

“To whom much is given, much is required”. You can never work enough. You work hard so you can play harder. I don’t find it hard because I am doing what I love. It’s a part of who I am. It’s part of my personal life. I draw inspiration on life’s experiences. All of that feeds my creation. I just do what’s got to be done. What events or projects have you got up your sleeve for the future? Where can our audience find your music or next event? I have numerous mix tapes being released in the first half of this year. The biggest one will be “Take Off Time” with DJ D Strong of 102 jams & 106th and Park. It is set to hit the streets any day now. I am also currently doing shows all over Florida. I am actually getting bookings in Orlando and beyond. I look forward to the expansion. Shout Outs? First GOD. Then my label CEMG, BangOutBoyz, Big Dox, Shout Out to Greg G for hosting the mix tape, Sunny, Reece, Authentic, Osti, Kells, J. Chunn, DJ DStrong, Eliseo, Bighead, Podgy, Demarcus, Shout out Wreck Wregular for producing a track that I’m soon to release with Def Jam artist Big Krit, Definitely TalkofOrlando.com and FlyerPromoNow. Thank You to Men’s Closet, DetourII, Jimmy Jazz & Wild Side Clothing for carrying my CDs. Shout outs & love to family, friends and fans that continuously support me.

nless you live under a rock then you know that we, The City Beautiful, are hosting the 2012 NBA All Star Game this year. Athletes, celebrities, and everyone in between who is just looking for a good time is in town. I’m glad that people will get to see what this city has to offer and bring some more revenue into Orlando. Everyone in the city is probably ecstatic for their own reasons. Promoters are happy for the obvious ones, sports fans are happy the event will be in their backyard this season, and I can’t forget the opportunists. I won’t call them groupies because I don’t like to judge people; we all know why they are happy. I myself am a little indifferent. The sports fan inside me is thrilled I have the opportunity to attend an event on my bucket list without spending money on a plane ticket and accommodations. The writer in me is anxious for the networking possibilities that could present themselves to me. The hustler in me is looking forward to counting racks on racks on racks. The realist in me knows that this city is not equipped for an event of this magnitude. And the critic in me wishes that The Magic were playing better on a more consistent basis the year that we host the All-Star.

Now if you read me frequently enough you know that I don’t normally have anything negative to say about the Magic, but if they don’t get it together I will commence with the shit talk with no hesitation. The only reason I really haven’t is because my true home team, the Celtics, aren’t doing much better and that would make me hypocrite. I’ve always shown and encouraged my readers to support the Magic because you live here, but seriously losing is for losers. I’m confused; I thought you wanted Dwight Howard to stay. I might

not be an expert but isn’t it common sense that no one wants to stay on a losing team. I’ve had many a debate about this very situation. Maybe they are losing on purpose because they want to get rid of Stan van Gundy or my personal fave…Stan van Dam. Maybe they don’t feel the need to put forth all the effort with the decision about Dwight leaving being in limbo. I can understand that even if I don’t agree. Why kill yourself on the court for a team that you may not be on for very much longer. Hell you don’t have to be a GM to know and understand that if we trade Dwight we may as well just get a whole new team. I think Otis Smith and the Magic front office need to take a page out of the Thunder and Sam Presti’s book. They drafted a number 1 pick and built a team around him, they were patient and it paid off. The Thunder now sit at the top of the Western Conference. Or maybe they just kinda suck now. Whatever the reason, I would be way more enthusiastic about All-Star if this season the Magic had the kind of momentum they had the year we made it to the finals. Let me stop being so harsh the Magic are still in the top 5 of the Eastern Conference. They aren’t even the biggest upset to me this season thus far. The Lakers are. If I was Lamar Odom I would be reveling in the fact that since his departure the Lakers are no longer the team to beat. I’m glad to see that the slow starting Mavs have gotten it together. The lockout obviously had an effect on the players. I hope they are all adjusted and put on show here for us in the City Beautiful. www.flyerpromonow.com

DJ DJ 22 M M First congratulate you on making it to the final round, for those that don’t know Michael a.k.a. Dj M2 recently represented Orlando, FL the BET’s Master of the Mix Season 2 What was like being apart of Master of the Mix? Being on the road, the camera’s, the fan’s… First, thank you for having me, I appreciate it. Master Of The Mix was an incredible experience. I got to showcase my talents in front of millions of people every week on two major networks and compete with some of the top DJ’s in the country in some of the most difficult challenges every episode. That all made me better as a DJ and as a person. You got to see my growth process unfold right there on national television, through the peaks and valleys, it all played out on TV. It felt very surreal. From living on the tour bus traveling cross country, to the long hours of filming and to the newly developed friendships. I am grateful for the experience. I have to thank my amazing supporters both new and those from the beginning that really showed so much love throughout the entire season. Thank you, Team McPherson only gets stronger.. Which Dj was the hardest Judge? Kid Capri was definitely the toughest Judge. He is a legend. I feel like his critiques were very effective in making any necessary adjustments along the way. I have grown in so many ways as a result. How did it make you feel to receiving criticism from pro’s like Dj Kid Capri, Victor Duplaix It felt great. I have so much respect and admiration for both of those guys. I’m always looking for ways to challenge myself and elevate my craft. Best memory being apart of the show? best memory of being a part of the show would have to be some of the out takes on set just having fun with the process, laughing and joking in between with my cast mates. Those moments were priceless. We all have inside jokes for days now.

by Jamecia S.

What did you have planned for that $250,000 dollars prize? Definitely sharing the wealth with the family and team as well as donating..which will all happen in due time. What’s next? I’ve definitely opened a lot of eyes and thankfully a lot of doors are opening as well. I’m blessed to be doing what I love for a living. The sky is the limit. I am still touring, and working with my team the Mood Designers, currently producing my first EP project w/ featured artists and musicians. I’m also collaborating with my good friend and amazing drummer Natural Phil. All happening in The Mood Design Lab. For all of the latest updates you can connect with me here: Official Website: http://iammichaelmcpherson.com Twitter: @TeamMcPherson Facebook: http://facebook.com/iammichaelmcpherson Your words of encouragement to those trying to get ahead of the game… You have to believe in yourself. Only you can see your vision. Study the greats and develop your own style. Really focus on honing your craft with passion. What keeps you motivated to keeping at your dream? It’s really my love for music. I started playing with a dual cassette deck before I had turntables. I just love the way that good music makes me feel and I wanted a way to share that same feeling with everyone else. That’s what keeps me going. The fact that I get to share that feeling with you everyday. It’s truly a blessing. 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend is in Orlando? You going to the game? Spinning, anywhere that weekend? Who do you look forward to partying with the most? I won’t be at the game, but here is where I will be spinning Thursday 2/23 @ Draft Friday 2/24 @ Terrace 390 and also at Majestic Saturday 2/25 @ Hanger I look forward to performing and seeing you all. www.flyerpromonow.com
