Page 1

It’s a wrap…..2016 is out of here!!! What a year it has been. On one hand we’ve celebrated several major life events while on the other hand, major depression has set in with the Change we’re facing…….UGH! Talking about an emotional roller coaster…..hold on Flygirls….. It’s going to be a bumpy ride. We started out the year with great expectations and in most cases I must say they have been exceeded. And for those things that surprised us as challenges…you know the saying “that which does not kill us, makes us stronger.” We are strong Flygirls!!!!! Thank you for being a part of our Flygirl Community. Each of you mean the world to me.

As we roll over to 2017 make a declaration that you will Live The Flygirl Life… Now go ahead With your Stilettos in the air repeat the Mantra after me……..

The Flygirl Mantra Flygirl is a frame of mind. It is not defined by age but attitude. It is a "seasoned woman" who has been there and done that. A woman who is not paralyzed by her circumstance, but motivated by her possibilities. A woman who continues to dream even if she is living a nightmare. Flygirls are women who support each other. Women who put on their lip gloss and step out in their sexy stilettos. Women who work one, two, and in some cases three gigs to make sure she and her family has the best. A flygirl may be married and standing by her man or she may be single and content right where she is. She may desire the companionship, but does not need a man to make her complete. A flygirl knows that a relationship with God is the source of her strength, and she knows she has liberty in that relationship. Flygirls enjoy getting together with other flygirls. These moments can be weekend getaways or quaint book club gatherings, or anything in between. Flygirls can come together for a cause or simply to exhale. Flygirls cross all boundaries and ethnic groups, but are linked by their similarities and the desire to belong to a bond that support their differences but applaud their sisterhood. So go ahead...Get with your girlfriends, hangout with your man, curl up with a book...Whatever you do, make it a Flygirl Moment

Salisbury Flygirls Deborah Colbert, Editor Salisbury Flygirls have had a year full of fun and extravaganza! We have recruited a new flygirl who has brought a lot of new ideals and energy to our group. We welcome Audrey Cunningham!!!! We held our annual scarf, hat and coat drive. Many thanks to those that participated. You kept someone warm during those cold days. In addition, the several HAPPY GIRL HOURS we had gave us a chance to chat and unwind from the day to day challenges. This time allowed us an opportunity to get a different perspective and to appreciate each other’s friendship and support.. As we move forward into the new year, we have several new items on the table that we’re looking forward to implementing. One hot topic is a Flygirl Wellness Event. We are soliciting all Flygirls to give your input and share recipes. More information to come. We wrapped up 2016 with our annual Christmas party at DJ's BiIG FUN with our gift exchange. Many thanks to all our New 2016 Salisbury Flygirls and looking forward to moving on up to 2017 with you. Hope you will be with us. Love, Peace and Happiness 2017

Charlotte Flygirls Bridget Cornelius, Guest Editor Greetings from Charlotte As we transition into another year I reflect on how wonderful 2016 has been despite all the unfortunate circumstances that we have witnessed and/ or dealt with personally. As we welcome 2017, I encourage each of you to pursue the will of God for your life. Can you imagine how wonderful this world would be if we only did what the Father tells us to do, say those things our Father wants us to say, forgive and love the way our Father does. God wants to fulfill every promise He has made to you & I. Remember with God all things are possible but the key is "with God". We have to be in His will in order for His promises to be manifested in our lives. Stay focused on His word as you enjoy life. Listen and hear God's voice. Follow His guidance for your life!!! Walk in your God-given victory for 2017 and trust God!!! I pray that there is no stress, no struggle, no strain for you in 2017!!! God loves you and so do I. Peace and Blessings, Bridget

Columbia Flygirls Charlotte Isom, Guest Editor Owner of DeVine Art ‘N Sip Wonderfully and Fearfully made! Fearlessly stepping into my Destiny. As a Flygirl of Columbia, SC, it's been a realistic move and great opportunity to celebrate Flygirl Freedom. It wouldn't have been possible for me to be the Flygirl I am if it was not for the President and #1 Diva Flygirl for Life, Lydia Colbert Young! God sent her in my Life in 2008 and I am definitely a better person because of her. So inspirational, encouraging, Don't Give up mentality, She is the definition of Flygirl to me. The reason I live the motto "Keep it Movin" 2016

Flygirl Fabulous, Steppin' into 2017! Love you Lydia Colbert Youngđ&#x;˜˜

Essence of a Flygirls By Shirley Jackson, Georgia As women we grow up to feel that we are to focus on others and their wants and needs over and above own own. As we get older we come to realize that we matter to ourselves. Sometimes it takes an unexpected person, place or thing to get us to that place. For me it was my diagnosis of breast cancer in June 2016. For the first time in my life I started to realize the importance of ME. I could have been angry that God had allowed this to happen to me. After all I had always been told that if it wasn't in your gene pool cancer was not something I had to worry about and neither my grandmother, mom or sister had ever had cancer. So after been told this all my adult life by doctors I didn't understand "WHY ME". For me this was a real awakening in several ways. First, I realized how strong my faith in God really is. You see, I HAD CANCER but I was determined CANCER WAS NOT GOING TO HAVE ME. GOD will put the right people in your path at the right time. My support structure has bee phenomenal and all my doctors have told me "patients with a good support structure do better with this illness". Secondly, I discovered my own strength. I am the oldest of three. However, I've always be a little pampered and/or spoiled (as some would say), by my family. Although I've always been independent, going through this has allowed me to go through without fear because I know GOD's GOT THIS!!! This is the year I decided to become my own BEST FRIEND and for me it means 1) Loving ME 2) Fighting for ME 3) Taking care of ME 4) Making ME happy and 5) Chase after what I want I hope this will inspire any women who is dealing with anything unfamiliar to know that we are so much more than we often give ourselves credit. Take care of YOU. Enjoy YOUR life. Put YOU FIRST sometime. Don't be selfish, everybody needs somebody sometime. Take advantage of how God has blessed you for we pass this way but once.

Inspirational Moment

Where Do We Go From Here? By Patricia Monroe, Bronx, NY This year as usual has been interesting. Remember that beautiful new hairstyle, dress or perhaps a new car or man, He-e-y-y. All of us have had some disappointing or sad times, some very enjoyable fun times and of course some just ordinary days. This is called life. There is a time for all things. We would like every day to be ridiculously happy. But if every day was the same we would probably complain about being bored. The incident that took most of us and the world by surprise and deep regret was the election of T---p (still a little difficult for me to mention that name). I had to seriously seek Jesus to get over the election (there still are some difficult moments). Jesus said peace I give unto you, let not your heart be troubled… (John 14:27) This means it is our responsibility to take control of our thoughts in order to keep our peace. How? Whatever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely (showing love), good report, virtue, and praise worthy think on these things (Philippians 4:8). Therefore, it can be challenging but it is up to us to keep our peace. I intend to become active in some political organization, in preparation for the next election. Remember to keep the faith; but faith needs our “work” in order for it to manifest
