Go and Get it………..

I

n the lyrics of Mary Mary, “It’s your time, Go and Get It” It really is as simple as that ladies. If you are wanting to pursue a C-change in your life, who is stopping you? I’m serious, who is in your way? Maybe it’s the naysayers, the haters, or maybe it’s YOU! According to Motivational Coach, Catherine Symbleme, when you start to pursue your Dreams these 6 things will likely happen. 1. You’ll step out of your comfort zone. Way Out. 2. You’ll get scared. 3. Sometimes you’ll be uncertain. 4. You’ll realize you won’t be able to please everyone. 5. You’ll learn just how brilliant and resourceful you really are. 6. You’ll start meeting others who chose to pursue their dreams, too. 7. You will discover the true meaning of faith

huge thank you to the Greensboro Flygirls for a successful ‘Book Bag Stilettos’ event. Words cannot express how grateful I am at the level of your giving. The book bags and supplies are continuing to pour in. So many children are going to be Blessed as they are able to start this school year with a new book bag filled with supplies. I ask that you join me in praying for these students and their families. We want them to be excited about learning and we want them to be safe.

lygirls, have you ever gotten up during the day break of a morning and stood on your porch and watched the trees sway back and forth? Just Thanking God for the Simple Things in life.

Dear God, your marvels deserve more than a simple thank you; but, this goes beyond measures, because of your magnificent Grace and Mercy. I see and feel your presence in the Simple Thing of life; and, just like the trees that sway back and forth----I give praise to you in Dance and up lifting of hands----- just because of The Simple Things in Life. Be Blessed Flygirls, and find the time to enjoy some of the Simple Things In Life

Fit While Fly By Kimberley Cathey, Guest Editor

H

ey Fly Girls! Summer is in full swing and I hope you have been enjoying yourselves. Summer is also a great opportunity be outdoors and be ACTIVE. Being active is a great way to get fit. Whether your interest is running, walking, biking, Zumba, lifting weights, dancing or something else, it is important to exert at least 20-30 minutes of physical activity, elevating your heart rate. It is best to exercise 3-4 times a week. You will sweat, so make sure that you drink plenty of water to replenish what was lost. Rule of thumb is to drink half of your body in milliliters. So if you are 130 pounds, you need to drink 65 ml of water.

When you’re out having fun in the sun, make sure to protect your skin by applying sunscreen that has at least an SPF of 15. Sunscreens for the body come in lotions, sprays and roll-on in various SPF levels. Don't forget your face. There are several facial moisturizers that contain sunscreen that are very gentle to wear on the face.

Keeping your muscles toned is another great way to keep yourself fit. You can work on your arms by lifting 5-8 lbs. weights or cattle bells, doing push-ups (on the ground or standing up against the wall/counter top). Working on your core (abdominal area) is important because it stabilizes the rest of your body. You can strengthen your core by doing crunches, planks (circle, side) and oblique stretches to name a few abdominal exercises. To tone your legs, squats, lunges and dumbbell split jumps can do wonders for your thighs, calves and buttocks. Ten to twelve repetitions of each exercise among others, 3-4 times a week will really begin to define your lower body.

Lastly, your inner body needs to compliment your outer body, by making sure you maintain a healthy diet. Your diet should consist of lean meats, leafy vegetables, fruits, grains/nuts. Stay away from foods that are high in fats and sugars.

These are just a few tips to keeping you active and fit. Remember, it's hard work being “FLY, but I am confident you will work-it-out!
