MY PRIVATE SUMMER SOLSTICE

B

aby it’s hot outside!!!!! I crave the warm summer sun! As a matter of fact, I was born in it. But no, I do not have to be out in it to enjoy it. There’s something about seeing the sun peek through my blinds that makes me want to jump out of bed and get my day started. Okay, maybe it’s just me. What exactly is this summer solstice? In a nutshell, this is the time between sunrise and sunset which will last longer than any other day on the calendar. (June 21st). This is due to the tilt of the Earth as it rotates around the sun. Okay enough of that. Got a few questions for you Flygirls: what are you tilted towards or who’s tilted towards you, where is your energy flowing and how are you letting your Flyness shine? Are you giving off rays that attract positive people in your circle? How are you celebrating during this summer solstice? Let’s not limit our solstice to one day….let’s make it our lifestyle. ummer is finally here!!! Now we can show off those beach bodies we have been working so hard on, right??!

EHHHH‌.ok maybe not. We all want to look good and feel good, but we have to know the right look for our bodies. During these next few months of scorching hot sunshine, we want to be both cool and comfortable. I am going to give you a few pointers which can make you look great no matter your size or how shallow your pockets are. Here goes: 1. Tailor your pieces- This goes for EVERYONE. A custom look will go a long way. Even if you’ve paid $2 for a pair of slacks from the thrift store, take those bad boys to a seamstress and have them tailored for you.

2. A nice handbag will pop an outfit. A handbag is a definite staple piece for every wardrobe and is worth the investment. Throw on a pair of


shorts, a basic tee and a popping handbag/clutch……BAM!!!! This will complete your look and make you feel like a million bucks.

3. Don’t spend a lot of money on a new wardrobe. Summer is the time to find Fall/Winter clothes that are on the clearance rack at the back of the store. Take advantage of these sales now, so when the season turn, you will be well-stocked at a great price. Just because it’s leaving the store, doesn’t mean it’s going out of style. Be bold and creative flygirls and rock your look! 4. Treat Yourself. A nice mani/pedi speaks volume and says that you are taking care of yourself. It doesn’t matter whether you go to the salon or pamper yourself at home. Just do it!


5. Drink Water!!! I know it’s almost cliché to hear this, but drinking water is a natural moisturizer, enhances healthy hair and keeps you fresh. I could go on and on about the importance of water but come on…now is the perfect time indulge; its summer, add a little fruit to give it some flavor. So Drink Up ladies

orth Carolina has been battling record breaking temperatures these past few days. With the increased temperatures it is important to stay well hydrated. Drinking fruit infused water is an easy way to increase your water intake. The recipes are simple, inexpensive, and taste wonderful! Fruit infused water can be made with any combination of fruit, veggies, and herbs mixed in cold water. Full of flavor and no calories, it's a great tool to help you lose weight and gain better health. My personal favorite combination is lemons, cucumbers, and mint. Other favorites are: oranges and strawberries; oranges, cucumbers and mint; lemons and limes (taste like Sprite!); and strawberries and basil. Besides tasting great and zero calories, other benefits of fruit infused water are: * Improves your mood * flushes out toxins. * reduces muscle fatigue while working out * helps your body release fat cells * keeps organs healthy while you sweat
