WAIT FOR IT…………………………………….. In the social media world, you’ve probably come across a video showing something funny or exciting. But the sender has to hold your attention by informing you to "wait for it". And that's exactly what you do....staring with anticipation until the ending, which is usually something trivial but cute. The thing is you waited. What if we could eagerly wait for it when it comes to what God has planned for our lives. I mean, waiting with expectation and enthusiasm, knowing that something good is going to happen. So whether it's that dream job, educational/career goals, finding that special mate, starting a family, retirement plans or whatever. My challenge to you Flygirls: put your faith to work and "WAIT FOR IT...........

THEY’RE WAITING

WHAT WE’RE DOING Flygirls we have been busy and on the go all summer long. But fall is not holding up…..we’re still running between homecomings, concerts, birthdays, family events, wedding proposals, traveling to spectacular getaways and all those other life happenings. Rest but don’t let up.We encourage you to keep living loving and laughter in your life.

Sandhills Flygirls Guest Contributor, Dr. Bobbie Little- Sandhills, Flygirl The Sandhills Flygirls are moving into a new season with style and class! The next Quarterly Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 17th at the Lady Bedford's Tea Parlour in the Village of Pinehurst, NC. One of the items on the agenda will be to plan for a Women Bible Study Group. Details for the study group will be discussed at the upcoming meeting. Also, since this is Domestic Violence Month, we will definitely be looking at what we can do this month to help victims of this horrific plague. One of the major highlights for the Sandhills Flygirls has been joining together to attend community events that are both cultural and entertaining. At the same time, these Flygirls never pass up the opportunity to help nonprofit organizations, especially organizations that focus on improving life for women and children. Recently, the

Flygirls attended an Evening of Jazz at Bostic’s Lake House. Some of the funds raised from such events support the First Tee Golf that assists young girls in learning the game of from a USGA professional and also assists the young girls in acquiring golf equipment. Some of the Flygirls also attended a performance of Driving Miss Daisy, sponsored by the Anson County Arts Council. Proceeds from these events help provide programs and events in the community and schools that address the arts. Richmond County youth benefited from gift boxes at Christmas time. Shoe boxes were filled with gifts designed for male or female youths. Moore County Flygirls collected items to be given to an assisted living facility. Anson County youth benefited from monetary donations given as part of their annual 5K Literacy Walk/Run. The donation was used to help provide books for the Reading Room that is located in the H.O.L.L.A. (Helping Our Loved Ones Live, Learn, and Achieve) Center. Sandhills Flygirls were sad to see Flygirl Mary Graves move to the Whiteville, NC area. However, she has already expressed an interest in getting a Flygirl group started in that area. Sandhills Flygirls welcome interested women join us as we continue to move and groove……….and “party with a purpose.”

SALISBURY FLYGIRLS Guest Contributor, Deborah Colbert- Salisbury, Flygirl It was a beautiful day in Salisbury, NC and on October 17, 2015 the Salisbury Flygirls along with our little gents and of course of flyboys participated as volunteers to help kick-off the 45th Anniversary bringing awareness to Substance Abuse. As we moved around wearing our Flygirl Tee-Shirts, it sparked questions from others as to who we are and can we participate at other function? Of course, other than looking cute, they wanted to know how they can become a Flygirl. So I began recruiting. Cassandra, Lois, Tommy, Jaiden, Dadrian and for sure I wase proud to be a part of this movement. We did not realize the special needs that people have and the many services that are available to help so many in need. There was so much information to help promote a safe and healthy community. The next project that we want to embrace will be cribs for babies. Can you image how many babies are not in cribs? So, flygirls stay tuned. Let’s make a difference in someone’s life. If you see someone down, lift them up.

GREENSBORO FLYGIRLS We were all set to participate in the Women Only 5K Run for Breast Cancer but the rain kept us away. But all is not lost Flygirls. Grab those pink tees and let’s go out for Pink Martini Nite.

Those Flygirls who were on the sideline this is your chance to participate. Put on something Pink and bring your best donation which we will deliver to the Breast Cancer Center to be used toward mammograms. And of course, you can invite a friend. Date and location TBA

Last year we donated turkeys and non-perishables to I am a Queen organization and met for dinner at Bravos. Well this year is no different. Not sure which organization will get the Turkeys but I have heard from you and you want to give back. And you want to meet for dinner and drinks. Stay tuned

Essence of a Fly Girl Guest Contributor, Shawan Fox -Pennsylvania, Flygirl

The essence of a Fly Girl is rooted in her soul, it is who she is, and from a very young age she knows she is different from the masses. She is driven, she knows what she wants, and she plans it out and makes it happen. The Fly Girl is confident and self-assured; she has a type of take charge personality that when her feet hit the floor you know she is about her business. She is always planning the “next best thing”. Where she sees a need, she is always willing to fill it. She understands that it takes a village and that we must all do our part to make our world a better place. The Fly Girl is the one that will often walk to the beat of her own drum, she is a leader in her community and comfortable in her role. That isn’t to say she can’t follow; but she doesn’t follow blindly, you must earn her devotion. The Fly Girl encourages and uplifts her fellow man, she is active in her community and lives the theme of giving back; knowing that it is not only about sharing your finances but it is also important to share your time. Being a Fly Girl is a choice, she is deliberate in the decisions she makes and the people she surrounds herself with. There is a responsibility in being a Fly Girl, as she is a natural mentor. She understands and acknowledges that to whom much is given, much is required; and in living this motto it is her responsibility to reach back and help someone else. The dedication to not only daily growth within yourself but also the dedication you make to helping others realize their purpose is a part of a Fly Girl’s everyday life. A Fly Girl can do great things alone, as she has the drive and determination to make a difference in everything she does. However she is a force to be reckoned with when she collaborates with her fellow Fly Girl sisters. I am blessed to have a sisterhood of wonderful women who range in ages and experiences who I am able to learn from and who I can offer wisdom to as well. So for me the essence of a Fly Girl is a woman who knows that if she is the smartest person in the room then she needs to find a new room to be in. She thrives on self-growth, and she never stops striving to be better person today than she was yesterday.

INSPIRATIONAL MOMENT Guest Contributor, Patricia Monroe- Bronx, New York

Lord Please… We all have presently or previously made prayer petitions to God. What do we do while we wait on the answers to our prayers to be manifested? We should first make sure that our prayers agree with God’s Holy Bible. Once we have prayed, believed and given thanks to God we wait. The wait should include keeping busy; preferably helping others or participating in constructive and enjoyable activities. Psalms 72:15 “…And daily He (God) shall be praised; therefore remember to praise God in Jesus’ name daily. Be watchful, patient, happily hopeful and expect your prayers to be answered!

FIT AND FLY NATURAL HAIR CARE Guest Contributor, Shontee Fagan- Greensboro, Flygirl My natural hair journey has been a challenge but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I have been natural for several years now, cutting my hair a few times in the process. I love learning about hair care which I learn more and more each day, whether it’s stopping to ask other Naturalistas questions about their hair or scrolling through social media and reading the latest on natural hair. I also love trying new products that are organic or all natirual, mostly using brands such as Shea Moistures, Cantu, Beautiful Curls and Design Essentials, which are sold at Whole foods. Only you will know what works best for your hair, of course that comes with trial and error  Currently I’m dealing with heat damage to my hair and I am revitalizing it by doing protein treatments and reconstruction treatments. The best ever is Aphogee line, their products work numbers on your hair. I am now strengthening my hair and refrain from putting harsh heat on it. YouTube has been a blessing. There you find so many useful tips and hair tutorials…. it’s amazing Transitioning can be difficult if you are not ready for the big chop but there are many protective styles you can wear with this process. Keep it simple by using the LOC method for any hair type because it maximizes moisture and hydration. The LOC method is:

L-Liquid (Water or Aloe Vera juice) O-Oil (coconut oil, almond oil, argon oil, etc) C-Cream (Your favorite cream whether its liquid based or thick cream) I absolutely love my natural sisters, curlfriends, naturalistas
